Overview

What changes for your product team

Instead of hunting for the right chart and rebuilding a funnel by hand, you ask Claude why a number moved. It searches your Amplitude content, opens the charts or experiments that matter, runs them and explains the result. The directory marks this connector as one that can show an interface inside the conversation.

Explain a drop without a ticket to the data team. search finds the relevant charts, query_charts runs them, and Claude points at the day and the segment where the line bent.

Read an experiment in one question. get_experiments shows the setup, query_experiment the results, so a product manager gets a clear reading before the go or no-go meeting.

Check the tracking before you analyze anything. get_events, get_event_properties and get_user_properties tell you what is recorded, which avoids building a segment on a property that does not exist and presenting it to leadership.

What it will not do, by default: the directory sheet only exposes reading. Amplitude's docs describe creating charts, dashboards or cohorts, yet none of those tools are on the sheet. It does not ingest events either, and nothing runs on its own. For scheduled exports or event-driven jobs, see the Amplitude Make integration.

Vocabulary

The vocabulary in one minute

Five words you will meet while plugging Amplitude in.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already have, so Claude can work in it while it answers you.
Tool
One named action the connector opens to Claude. Claude picks the ones it needs on its own; the directory lists them by name.
Authorization
The sign-in screen of the service itself, where you hand Claude the access it will use. Given once per person, revocable anytime.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before it finishes an action that changes your account, shown right in the conversation.
MCP
The shared standard connectors are built on: it is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service such as Amplitude.
Connect

Connect Amplitude to Claude in three steps

  1. 01

    Find Amplitude in Claude

In Claude's settings, open Customize, then Connectors, and look for Amplitude in the list. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner has to enable the connector first so each member can sign in.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Click Connect on the Amplitude row, then log in to Amplitude in the window Amplitude opens itself. If the link breaks later, use Disconnect and connect again.

  3. 03

    Read the authorization screen

Go through Amplitude's access screen before approving. It belongs to the service, not to Claude, and it sets what the access covers. You can withdraw that access later from the Amplitude side too.

Tools

The 14 Claude Amplitude connector tools, sorted by what they do

Amplitude gives Claude 14 tools: 12 that read your account, 0 that change something in it, and 2 no official source describes.

Two groups here: what Claude reads, and what no official source describes. Names stay exactly as Claude shows them.

What Claude reads (12)

12 tools

Twelve tools that search, open or run your Amplitude content without touching it.

get_charts

Retrieves saved charts, among the Amplitude content the connector can search and read. Amplitude documents that family as a whole, so the exact fields returned are not published.

When it helps
a product manager asks what the weekly active users chart actually measures before trusting it.
Watch out
reading a chart's definition is not the same as running it; querying has its own tool.

get_dashboard

Opens a dashboard, one of the Amplitude objects the directory says Claude can search and analyze, so it can talk you through what the board gathers.

When it helps
you inherit a growth dashboard and want a plain-language tour before the Monday review.
Watch out
you only reach dashboards your Amplitude account can already view.

Sourceclaude.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

get_experiments

Retrieves your experiments, part of the content Amplitude lists as searchable and readable, so Claude can tell you what exists before any result is queried.

When it helps
the team wants a list of tests live on the checkout flow before launching another one.
Watch out
results come from the query tool for experiments, not from this one.

Sourceclaude.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

get_notebook

Opens an Amplitude notebook, the documents where analysts mix charts and commentary, and returns its content.

When it helps
an analyst left a notebook on onboarding drop-off and you want its conclusions summarized.
Watch out
the commentary is the analyst's own; Claude summarizes it, it does not vouch for it.

query_charts

Executes charts and returns their data, turning a saved view into actual numbers Claude can reason about.

When it helps
you ask why sign-ups dipped last Tuesday and Claude needs the underlying series, not just the chart title.
Watch out
if a token limit error shows up, Amplitude suggests opening a new thread.

Sourceclaude.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

query_metric

Queries a metric your team has already set up in Amplitude, metrics being one of the object types the directory lists among what Claude can query.

When it helps
finance asks for the latest figure on a metric everyone quotes but nobody remembers how to find.
Watch out
the metric must already exist in Amplitude; this tool does not define one.

Sourceclaude.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

query_experiment

Queries an experiment so Claude can go through its results with you; experiments sit in the list of what the directory says the connector can query.

When it helps
a pricing test has been running two weeks and the team wants a straight reading of where it stands.

Sourceclaude.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

get_events

Lists the events tracked in your project, the actions users perform that Amplitude records.

When it helps
before building an analysis, you want to check whether a trial started event exists at all.
Watch out
it reads definitions only; pushing event data into Amplitude is not this connector's job.

Sourceamplitude.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

get_event_properties

Returns the properties attached to events, the extra details such as plan type or device that come with each action.

When it helps
you want to split a funnel by platform and need to know which property carries it.
Watch out
a property missing here is simply not tracked yet, and Claude cannot add it.

Sourceamplitude.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

get_user_properties

Reads the user properties of your project, the attributes Amplitude keeps about each person, like country or signup source.

When it helps
marketing wants a segment by acquisition channel and asks whether that attribute is tracked.
Watch out
what you see depends on what your project records, not on what Claude could infer.

Sourceamplitude.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

get_flags

Retrieves your feature flags, one of the object types the directory names, so Claude can tell you which ones exist in the project.

When it helps
an engineer asks which flags still guard the old onboarding before cleaning up code.

Not documented (2)

2 tools

The directory publishes these two names and nothing more. No official text says what they do, and this page will not guess from a name.

get_context

The directory lists this name, and no official source describes it. Amplitude's docs mention a context tool under a slightly different name; this page does not treat them as the same, and says nothing about what this one returns.

Watch out
whatever it does, the general approvals rule below covers it.

query_dataset

Same silence here: the name is on the sheet, nothing official explains it. Guessing from the wording of a name would be a mistake, so this page leaves the gap visible.

Watch out
it falls under the same approval rule as the rest of the list.
Approvals

What Claude asks before acting

By default, Claude stops and asks for your go-ahead before any action it takes on an account for you. The request shows up in the conversation, when it matters.

With Amplitude, the sheet exposes twelve reading tools and two undocumented names, so no tool here is described as changing your project. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, owners decide whether a member may let some actions through without being asked each time, and they can cap what a connector may do for everyone, keeping reads and closing writes. Amplitude adds its own layer, per project, through roles. And Claude never sees more than your Amplitude account already can.

Plans

Which plans this is available on

None of the 819 sheets in the official directory shows availability per plan. Connector by connector, the answer is published nowhere: a real gap in the catalogue.

The general rule is published: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables the connector for the organization before each member can sign in. Amplitude only says any existing customer can use it. For the current state, the Amplitude sheet in the official directory is the only place that shows it.

Limits

Where this connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you: nothing starts when a metric crosses a threshold or an experiment reaches significance.

Only the publisher documents this connector: no Claude help article covers it, so the details here come from Amplitude's own page. The tool list is an observed floor, not a ceiling: by default the sheet exposes only reading, while Amplitude documents far more. The partner badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic says on every sheet that it does not choose the tools a publisher exposes nor guarantee their behavior. FAQ

Claude Amplitude connector: frequent questions

01What can Claude do with the Amplitude connector?
Claude can search and read your Amplitude content and run it to answer questions. Its 14 listed tools find charts, dashboards, experiments, flags and metrics, open notebooks, execute charts, metrics and experiments to return actual numbers, and list the events, event properties and user properties tracked in your project. The directory marks it as able to show an interface inside the conversation. Two more tools appear on the sheet without any official description.
02Can Claude create or change charts in Amplitude?
Not with what the directory sheet exposes by default. The twelve documented tools only read or run existing content, and two more are undocumented. Amplitude's own documentation does describe creating and editing charts, dashboards, cohorts, flags and metrics, but those tools are not on the Claude sheet, so this page does not present them as available. A read-only list stays a floor, though: write actions exist on Amplitude's side and are governed by a separate role permission.
03Does Claude ask before acting in Amplitude?
By default, yes: Claude asks for confirmation before any action it takes on an account for you. With Amplitude, the documented tools only read, so in practice you see answers rather than approval requests. No source describes a check specific to one Amplitude tool, and the two undocumented ones fall under the same default rule. On Team and Enterprise, owners decide what members may skip, and the publisher's roles decide per project what is allowed at all.
04Which Claude plans is the Amplitude connector available on?
No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, and no directory sheet shows it. The general rule says remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, with an Owner enabling each connector first on Team and Enterprise. Amplitude's own page does not name any Claude plan. The Amplitude sheet in the official directory remains the only place showing the current state for your account.
05Does Claude see every project in our Amplitude organization?
No, Claude sees what your Amplitude account can already view, and nothing more. The connection uses your existing permissions, and Amplitude checks role actions project by project: where your role does not grant reading through this connection, the call fails, even for an org admin. An admin can also block the connection for the whole organization. On the Claude side, a Team or Enterprise owner can restrict what the connector may do, and members cannot lift that.
06Why do Claude's Amplitude queries fail after connecting?
Most often because of an Amplitude-side control. Access is on by default, but an org admin can block it under the content access settings, and each project checks whether your role includes the read action for this connection. A tool call on a project your role does not cover fails at call time. Token limit errors are another cause; Amplitude suggests starting a new thread or raising the token limit in your client's settings.
07Claude or an automation tool for Amplitude?
They serve different needs, so it depends on the task. Claude works inside a conversation: you ask why a metric moved, it searches, runs charts and explains, and nothing else happens once you stop typing. It will not react on its own when a threshold is crossed. For a scheduled export or an alert that fires on an event, an automation tool does that job. For exploring data, reading experiments and answering a stakeholder on the spot, the connector fits better.
