Overview

Energy research you can question in plain English

An analyst who wants Energy Aspects' view on the oil balance usually opens the portal, searches the reports, then pulls the matching dataset. With the connector, you ask Claude. It picks the right search among the four tools, reads what comes back from Energy Aspects and writes the answer, built on that content.

A first pass on a broad question. Before a trading meeting, you ask what Energy Aspects currently thinks about the oil market. Claude starts with get_insight_and_data, which pulls reports, live posts and data in a single request.

The latest intraday read. A desk wants to know whether analysts have commented on Chinese crude imports this week. get_ea_live_posts searches the short real-time notes rather than the long reports.

Numbers as they were published. For a forecast review, get_timeseries_data can return a series as it stood at a given release date, which helps compare an old forecast with today's.

What it will not do: every tool is read-only, so Claude cannot create, edit or delete anything in Energy Aspects, and nothing runs on a schedule. It only searches while it is answering you. For a daily digest pushed somewhere automatically, look at automation platforms on the Integrations hub.

Vocabulary

Five words before you connect

The Claude vocabulary used on this page, in under a minute.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already hold, so Claude can work with it while it answers you.
Tool
One named job a connector opens to Claude. Claude decides by itself which ones to call; the directory sheet lists them by name.
Authorization
Energy Aspects' own login page, where you grant Claude the access it uses afterwards. Given once per person, and revocable.
Approval
The go-ahead Claude waits for before changing something in an account, shown in the conversation at the moment it matters.
MCP
The shared standard behind connectors: it is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service such as Energy Aspects.
Connect

Connect the Claude Energy Aspects connector in three steps

  1. 01

    Find Energy Aspects in Claude

Open Claude's settings, go to Customize then Connectors, and look for Energy Aspects. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner must switch the connector on before members can sign in one by one.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Click Connect on its row, then log in on the Energy Aspects page that opens. If the link stops working later, use Disconnect and connect again, which usually sorts it out.

  3. 03

    Check the authorization screen

Read the Energy Aspects authorization screen before accepting. It belongs to the service, not to Claude, and it sets what the access covers. You can also take that access back later from the Energy Aspects side.

Tools

The 4 tools, and what each one searches

Energy Aspects gives Claude 4 tools: 4 that read your account, 0 that change something in it.

Four search tools, all documented by Energy Aspects and all declared read-only. Names stay exactly as Claude displays them.

  • 4 read

What Claude reads (4)

4 tools

Four tools that search research, commentary and data without changing anything.

get_ea_live_posts

Searches the short, real-time comments that Energy Aspects analysts post during the day, by meaning rather than exact words, and returns the matching posts.

When it helps
a gas trader wants any fresh analyst remark on LNG cargoes before the market opens.
Watch out
these are quick notes, not full reports; ask for publications when you need the reasoning in depth.

get_insight_and_data

Runs one request that fetches publications, EA Live posts and timeseries side by side. Energy Aspects calls it the preferred starting point for broad or first questions.

When it helps
a strategy team asks for the overall view on the oil balance next quarter and wants text plus figures.
Watch out
each search returns 10 results by default and 20 at most, so narrow the topic for precise answers.

get_publications

Looks through Energy Aspects' in-depth research reports, the long analyses and forecasts, by the meaning of your question, and brings back the ones closest to your topic.

When it helps
a risk manager needs the most recent LNG market report to quote in a board memo.

get_timeseries_data

Pulls quantitative series, historical values and forecasts on supply, demand, stocks, flows and prices. A release-date option shows a series exactly as it looked when that release came out.

When it helps
an analyst compares last spring's forecast of European gas storage with the current one.
Watch out
without a release date you get the current version, not the figures people saw at the time.

Approvals

What Claude asks before acting

By default, Claude stops and asks for your go-ahead before any action it takes on an account for you. The request shows up in the conversation, right when it matters.

On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether a member may let some actions through without a new prompt each time. They can also cap what a connector may do for the whole organization, for example keep reading and close writing, and nobody overrides that from their own account. Claude also works with your rights and nothing more: it only reaches what your Energy Aspects account opens to you.

Plans

Which plans include it

None of the 819 sheets in the official directory displays availability by plan. Connector by connector, that answer is not published anywhere: it is a genuine gap in the catalogue.

What is published is the general rule: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables the connector for the organization before each member signs in. For this connector's current status, check its sheet in the official directory. Only Energy Aspects documents this connector; no Claude help article covers it.

Limits

Where this connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude runs these searches while it answers you; nothing fires when a new report or EA Live post appears.

The tool list is an observed floor, not a promise: an administrator can open actions that no public sheet shows. The partner badge is not a security audit either, and Anthropic states on every sheet that it does not choose the tools a publisher exposes or guarantee their behavior. Connect what comes from a publisher you trust. Energy Aspects also says an instruction file governs what the agent retrieves and how it attributes and presents EA content.

FAQ

Questions about the Claude Energy Aspects connector

01What can Claude do with the Energy Aspects connector?
Claude can search Energy Aspects research and answer from it. Its four tools cover in-depth publications, EA Live posts with intraday analyst commentary, quantitative timeseries on supply, demand, stocks, flows and prices, and a combined search that returns all three at once. Energy Aspects recommends that combined tool as the starting point for broad questions. Claude reads what comes back and writes the answer in the conversation, so you get the firm's view without browsing the portal.
02Can Claude change or delete anything in Energy Aspects?
No. Energy Aspects states that all four tools are read-only and that no data can be created, modified or deleted through them. Claude can find and summarize reports, posts and series, but it cannot save anything to your account. By default the sheet only exposes reading; that remains an observed floor rather than a promise for every setup, since an administrator can open actions that no public sheet shows. Keep edits in the portal.
03Does Claude ask before searching Energy Aspects?
No source describes a confirmation specific to these searches, so Claude's default rule applies: it asks for your approval in the conversation before any action it takes on an account for you. On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether members may let certain actions through without a fresh prompt. They can also restrict what the connector may do for the whole organization, and members cannot override that setting. Nothing here writes, though.
04Which Claude plans is the Energy Aspects connector available on?
No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, and none of the 819 directory sheets displays it. The general rule is that remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, with an Owner or Primary Owner enabling them first on Team and Enterprise. Energy Aspects' documentation names no Claude plan. The connector's sheet in the official directory is the only place showing its current status for your account.
05Does Claude see everything Energy Aspects publishes?
Claude works through your own Energy Aspects login, so it reaches what your account is entitled to and nothing more. Energy Aspects requires an active portal account with API or chatbot access enabled, and every tool needs a valid signed-in session. On the Claude side, an owner of your workspace can also restrict what the connector may do for everyone. Claude never gets wider access than the person who connected it.
06Why was my Energy Aspects connection logged out?
Most likely because you connected from another device. Energy Aspects allows a single active session: signing in from a new device invalidates the previous one. Sessions otherwise last 90 days, and the publisher says re-authentication happens automatically when they expire. Every tool needs a valid session, on an active portal account with API or chatbot access enabled. If the link stays broken, Claude's own fix is to cut the connector with Disconnect and connect it again.
07Claude or an automation tool for Energy Aspects?
They do different jobs, so pick by task rather than by ranking. Claude fits one-off questions in a conversation: the current oil view, a recent LNG report, a forecast compared with an older release. It only acts while you are talking to it. An automation platform fits repeated flows that run without you, such as a scheduled digest sent to a team channel. Nothing in this connector runs on its own between two conversations.
