Overview

Your money in context, inside the conversation

Checking whether you can afford a trip usually means opening a banking app, a budget spreadsheet and a calendar of bills. With Era Context connected, you ask Claude. It pulls balances, recurring charges and a forecast from Era, then answers with your own numbers. It can also clean up messy transactions and remember the goals you confirm, within the permissions you granted.

A spending answer you can trust. Before booking a weekend away, you ask what you can spend without touching savings. Claude reads accounts__check_account_balance, transactions__list_recurring_charges and insights__forecast_spending and puts them side by side.

Messy data, fixed. Era's own example: find noisy merchants or categories, correct the selected transactions with transactions__update_transactions, then rerun the analysis to check the answer changed.

Cleanup turned into rules. Era suggests turning repeat fixes into automation rules. Era says agents should preview and ask before applying a rule, since rules keep changing future data.

What it will not do: Era states it cannot pay bills, place trades or file taxes, and Claude never receives your bank credentials. Nothing runs on its own either; Claude only acts while answering you. For a recurring money brief delivered on a schedule, a client routine or an automation platform does the timing; see the Integrations hub.

Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before it changes something in an account, shown in the conversation when it matters.

Connect

Connect the Claude Era Context connector in three steps

  1. 01

    Find Era Context in Claude

Open Claude's settings, go to Customize then Connectors, and look for Era Context. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner must switch the connector on before members can each sign in.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Click Connect on its row and sign in to Era in the window it opens. If the link breaks later, Disconnect and connect again. Era then suggests starting with a read-only question.

  3. 03

    Review the scopes

Read Era's authorization screen before accepting: it lists the scopes requested, and those scopes decide which tools Claude will even see. You can revoke access later by disconnecting the client or the account connection.

Approvals

What Claude asks before acting

By default, Claude stops and asks for your go-ahead before any action it takes on an account for you. The request appears in the conversation, at the moment it matters.

On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether a member may let some actions through without being asked again. They can also cap what a connector may do for the whole organization, for instance keep reading and close writing, and nobody overrides that from their own account. Claude works with your rights and nothing more: Era says the assistant only sees tools allowed by your Era subscription, scopes, client and its safety rules.

Plans

Which Claude plans include it

None of the 819 sheets in the official directory displays availability by plan. Connector by connector, that answer is not published anywhere: it is a real gap in the catalogue.

What is published is the general rule: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables the connector for the organization before members sign in. Check its sheet in the official directory for the current status. Only Era documents this connector; no Claude help article covers it. Era's own subscription tiers are a separate matter.

Limits

Where this connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you; nothing reruns a forecast when a new transaction lands.

The tool list is an observed floor, not a promise: an administrator can open actions no public sheet shows, and Era's own page lists more tools than the directory sheet. The partner badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic states on every sheet that it does not pick a publisher's tools or guarantee their behavior. Era also states that Context supplies the data, while your AI client controls when a routine runs.

FAQ

Questions about the Claude Era Context connector

01What can Claude do with the Era Context connector?
Claude can read and organize your personal finances through Era. Seventeen tools read balances, accounts, transactions, recurring charges, spending analyses, cash flow, forecasts, daily summaries, your financial memory and your Era billing state. Ten tools change things: update or tag transactions, manage automation rules and transfer links, remember or forget facts, handle Era's pending questions, open a bank-connection flow and upgrade your Era subscription. Era publishes a safety label for every one of them.
02Can Claude change my transactions or my Era subscription?
Yes, within the scopes you grant. Write tools can edit selected transactions, manage tags, automation rules and transfer links, and store or remove facts from your financial memory; Era marks several as destructive. Upgrading your Era subscription needs extra consent and a separate billing-write scope that is not in the defaults. Era also states that Context cannot pay bills, place trades or file taxes, and never hands the assistant your bank login.
03Does Claude ask before changing my financial data?
Claude's default rule is to ask before any action it takes on an account for you. Era adds its own layer: billing changes need extra consent, destructive tools should be surfaced and confirmed by you, rules should be previewed before they apply, and uncertain transfer matches confirmed. For several write tools, no confirmation specific to the tool is documented, so the default rule is what you rely on. Owners of a Team or Enterprise workspace can also close writing.
04Which Claude plans is the Era Context connector available on?
No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, and none of the 819 directory sheets displays it. The general rule is that remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, with an Owner or Primary Owner enabling them first on Team and Enterprise. Era's page talks about its own subscription tiers, which govern which Era tools appear, not which Claude plan you need. Check the connector's sheet in the directory.
05Does Claude see all my bank accounts through Era?
Claude sees what Era exposes to it, within your scopes. The tool families Era publishes cover accounts, transactions, insights, memory and billing, and Era says the assistant never receives bank credentials. Era also notes that available tools change with your Era subscription, approved scopes, connected accounts and client, so two people can see different sets. Billing changes also need a separate scope on top, outside the defaults Era grants. On the Claude side, a Team or Enterprise owner can narrow it further.
06Why can't Claude find a tool Era mentions?
Because Era's tools are permissioned. Era explains that your Era subscription, the OAuth scopes you approved, your AI client and its safety rules all decide which tools the assistant can see. Billing changes, for instance, sit outside the default scopes. Era's own page also lists more tools than the directory sheet shows. If something is missing, one of those conditions is what to check. A call can also fail on a rate limit or an unavailable external service.
07Claude or an automation tool for Era Context?
They suit different jobs, so choose by task rather than by ranking. Claude fits questions and cleanups in a conversation: whether a trip fits the budget, which categories to fix, what goes in a reimbursement list. It only acts while you are talking to it. Recurring briefs need something that keeps time; Era says your AI client's routines decide when they run, and an automation platform can play the same role.
