Overview

What changes for your sales team

Lightfield is a CRM, the tool where your team keeps accounts, contacts and deals. With the connector, you stop clicking through views to answer a quick question about the pipeline. You ask Claude in plain words, it reads the records it needs and replies in the chat, and it can also log what you just learned.

Answer pipeline questions on the spot. read_from_lightfield reads data from your workspace. Lightfield's directory text mentions accounts, contacts, opportunities, notes, tasks and lists, with filters on any field.

Log a call without opening the CRM. write_to_lightfield creates or updates records, so the note from this morning's demo or a new contact lands where your team expects it.

Let Claude check how Lightfield is built. search_lightfield_api_docs and get_lightfield_api_details browse the API reference, and get_current_user tells Claude who you are and which role you hold.

What the connector does not do matters as much. No source describes deleting a record: the writing tool creates and updates, nothing more. Nothing runs on its own either: a deal changing stage does not wake Claude up. And on an organization account, a Claude admin has to add Lightfield before anyone can connect. If you want a broader view of CRM connectors, the Integrations hub lists them.

Vocabulary

The vocabulary in one minute

Five words you will see while setting it up.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already use, so Claude can work in it while it answers you.
Tool
A named action the connector opens to Claude. Claude decides which ones to call; the directory lists all of them by name.
Authorization
Lightfield's own sign-in screen, where you hand Claude the access it will use. Granted once per person, and you can withdraw it.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before it completes a change to your account, shown in the chat at the moment it matters.
MCP
The common standard behind connectors: it is how an assistant like Claude talks to an outside service such as your CRM.
Connect

Connect Lightfield to Claude in three steps

  1. 01

    Open the connector list

In Claude's settings, open Customize, then Connectors, and look for Lightfield. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner enables a connector for the organization before members can connect individually.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Click Connect on its row, then sign in to Lightfield in the window Lightfield opens. If the link breaks later, Disconnect and connect again from the same place.

  3. 03

    Review the authorization

Read the authorization screen before you accept. It is Lightfield's screen, not Claude's, and it decides what the access covers. The access can also be withdrawn later from the service side.

Tools

The 5 tools, sorted by what they do

Lightfield gives Claude 5 tools: 4 that read your account, 1 that change something in it.

What Claude reads (4)

4 tools

Four tools that look at your identity, your data or the API reference without changing anything.

get_current_user

Tells Claude who is connected: your name, your email and your role in Lightfield.

When it helps
you ask for your own open tasks in the pipeline and Claude needs to know which person in the workspace you are, and with which role.

Sourcedocs.lightfield.app · October 1, 2026 ↗

get_lightfield_api_details

Opens the detailed documentation of one specific endpoint of the Lightfield API, the next step after browsing the list of endpoints.

When it helps
a filter on a custom field returns nothing and Claude needs to check, in the reference for that specific endpoint, how that field is meant to be queried.

read_from_lightfield

Reads data from your Lightfield workspace and brings it into the conversation, whether that is a single account, a list of contacts or the deals sitting at one stage.

When it helps
just before a renewal call, you want the account's last notes and open tasks in one place.
Watch out
it reaches only what your own Lightfield access already shows you.

search_lightfield_api_docs

Browses the endpoints and resources the Lightfield API offers, the catalogue of what can be reached.

When it helps
you ask about an object type Claude has not handled yet in this workspace, and the list of available endpoints shows where it lives.

1 tool

One tool that touches your records. No source describes a confirmation for it, so the general rule below applies.

write_to_lightfield

Approval: see the rule

Creates new records or updates existing ones in your workspace, for example a contact met at an event or the next step on an opportunity.

What Claude asks for
no source describes a confirmation for this tool, so the default approval rule covers it.
When it helps
right after a discovery call, you dictate the notes and the follow-up task.
Watch out
Lightfield's tool list mentions creating and updating, never deleting.

Approvals

What Claude asks before it acts

By default, Claude stops and asks before any action it takes on an account for you. In practice, that rule matters most for the one tool that writes to your CRM.

On a Team or Enterprise workspace, owners decide whether a member can let some actions through without being asked each time. They can also bound what a connector may do for the whole organization, such as keeping reads and closing writes, and no one bypasses that from their own account. Claude works with your Lightfield access and nothing more: what your role cannot see, Claude cannot see either. The official read-only versus write labels per tool live only in a connected account's settings.

Plans

Which plans it is on

Of the 819 sheets in the official directory, none displays availability per plan. That answer is not published anywhere, connector by connector.

The general rule is published: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables a connector for the organization before members can connect. Lightfield's own setup page says something more specific, set against this rule in the limits section. For the current state, check the connector's sheet in the official directory from your account.

Limits

Where this connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you: nothing starts by itself when a deal moves stage or a task comes due.

The tool list is an observed floor, not a ceiling: an administrator could open more than any public page shows. The partner badge in the directory is not a security audit, and Anthropic writes on every sheet that it neither chooses the tools a publisher exposes nor guarantees they behave as announced. Only Lightfield documents this connector; Claude's help center has no page on it, and Lightfield's setup page is undated.

Two official sources disagree

Which Claude accounts can connect Lightfield?

What this page followsNeither side is outdated: Anthropic's rule covers every connector, and Lightfield's page is the only text about this one, but it is the publisher speaking and its page carries no date. Check the connector's sheet in the directory from your own account before relying on either.

FAQ

Claude Lightfield connector: common questions

01What can Claude do with the Lightfield connector?
Claude can read your Lightfield CRM and create or update records in it from a conversation. Of its five tools, one reads workspace data, one writes it, one identifies the connected user and two browse Lightfield's API reference. According to Lightfield, that covers accounts, contacts, opportunities, notes, tasks and lists. You can ask about a deal, log a call or add a contact without opening the CRM. No source describes deleting a record.
02Can Claude create, update or delete records in Lightfield?
It can create and update; no source describes deleting. The writing tool is described by Lightfield as creating or updating records in your workspace, so a new contact or a revised next step on a deal is within reach. The four other tools only read. Keep in mind that an administrator could open more than what any public page lists, and that on Team and Enterprise an owner can also close writing entirely.
03Does Claude ask before it changes my CRM?
By default, Claude asks for confirmation before any action it takes on an account for you, and that is the rule that covers creating or updating a Lightfield record. No source describes a confirmation specific to the writing tool. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, owners decide whether members may let certain actions go through without being asked, and they can restrict the connector to reading for the whole organization.
04Which Claude plans is Lightfield available on?
No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, and none of the directory's sheets shows it. The general rule is that remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, with an Owner or Primary Owner enabling them on Team and Enterprise. Lightfield's own page names specific account types, quoted in the limits section. Check the connector's sheet in the official directory from your account for its current state.
05Does Claude see the whole CRM?
Claude sees what your own Lightfield access shows, nothing more. The connector works on your behalf and inside your permissions, so a pipeline or account your role cannot open stays closed in the conversation too. One tool even tells Claude which role you hold. On Team and Enterprise Claude workspaces, an owner can also restrict or disable the connector for everyone, and a member cannot lift that from a personal account.
06Why can I not find Lightfield in my Claude connectors?
On an organization account, first check whether anyone has added it yet. Lightfield's quickstart says an organization admin must add it as a custom connector before members can use it; members then open their connectors, find Lightfield and connect. Its troubleshooting gives two ways out: add it for yourself with the individual setup link, or confirm that a Claude organization owner has already added it for everyone in the workspace.
07Claude or an automation tool for Lightfield?
They do different jobs, so choose by task. Claude works in a conversation: you ask about the pipeline, it reads, drafts and records what you tell it, then stops when you do. It does not react by itself when a deal changes stage or a new form comes in from your site. For that kind of background follow-up on an event, you want an automation tool. For on-demand questions and quick updates while you work, the connector covers that use.
