Overview

Why install this Lumin extension

The directory carries two Lumin entries from the same publisher. This one installs in Claude Desktop and keeps to the basics of a signature request: get a file in, send it, check where it stands, cancel it if needed. Lumin pitches it at developers building document workflows. The other entry, a remote connector, adds templates and agreements.

A contract drafted in the chat, then sent. lumin_markdown2pdf turns Markdown into a PDF, and send_signature_request_on_lumin sends it for signature from the file. For a freelance developer, that is a one-page contract out of the door without opening another app.

A quick status check. get_signature_request_on_lumin_by_id returns a request's status, signers and expiry, so you know who is still missing before the deadline.

A stop button. cancel_signature_request_on_lumin_by_id cancels an active request, and Lumin warns that this cannot be undone.

What it does not do: none of its 7 tools lists or fills templates, generates AgreementGen agreements or downloads the signed file; those live in Lumin's remote connector. It only runs in Claude Desktop, and it never acts on its own when a signer finishes. For background follow-up, see the Lumin Make integration, which runs without anyone in the chat.

Vocabulary

Five words before you install

The terms that matter for this extension, explained once.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already have, so Claude can work in it while it answers you.
Desktop extension
A connector installed and run on your own computer, inside Claude Desktop, rather than one hosted online and used from any Claude app.
Tool
One named action a connector hands to Claude. Claude decides which ones to call as it answers, and the directory sheet lists them all.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before it changes something in your account, shown in the conversation when it matters.
MCP
The open standard connectors are built on: it is what lets an assistant such as Claude talk to an outside service like Lumin.
Connect

Install the Claude Lumin extension in three steps

  1. 01

    Find the desktop entry

In Claude Desktop, open Customize, then Connectors, and pick the Lumin entry marked for Claude Desktop, not the remote connector. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner must allow it first.

  2. 02

    Start the installation

Launch it from its line. Lumin's service then asks you to sign in to the Lumin account whose documents Claude will handle; the extension needs one to do anything.

  3. 03

    Check what the access covers

Read the permission screen Lumin shows before you accept. It is Lumin's screen, not Claude's, and it sets what Claude can reach. To remove the link later, use Disconnect.

Tools

The 7 tools of the Lumin desktop extension

Lumin gives Claude 7 tools: 3 that read your account, 4 that change something in it.

Six of these tools share their name with one Lumin documents for its remote server; the seventh is covered by the directory description. Names stay as Claude shows them.

What Claude reads (3)

3 tools

Your profile, the workspaces you belong to and the status of a signature request.

get_lumin_user_information

Returns the profile of the signed-in Lumin user, with ID, name and email address. Claude uses it to confirm whose account the extension talks to.

When it helps
a developer testing a document workflow checks that the extension is signed in with the test account, not the company one.

get_signature_request_on_lumin_by_id

Retrieves a signature request by its ID, including status, signers and expiration date.

When it helps
finding out which of the three signers of a partnership agreement has not signed yet, two days before it expires.
Watch out
without the request ID, Claude has no tool here to list your requests.

get_workspace_list_of_user_on_lumin

Lists the Lumin workspaces you belong to. Only the directory description covers this tool, as browsing workspaces; Lumin's documentation does not mention it.

When it helps
seeing which workspaces your account can reach before uploading a document into the right one.

Approvals

What Claude checks with you first

By default, Claude stops and asks before each action it carries out on an account for someone, right in the conversation.

No source describes a confirmation specific to the four tools of this extension that upload, create, send or cancel, so that default rule is what applies to them. On Team and Enterprise, workspace owners decide whether members may let some actions through without being asked every time, and they can limit a connector for the whole organization, for example keeping reads and closing writes. Nobody lifts that from their own account. Claude also works with the rights of the Lumin account you signed in with, and nothing more.

Plans

Which Claude plans it runs on

None of the 819 directory sheets states availability by plan, and no official source publishes it connector by connector.

The published rule is general: desktop extensions like this one install on Claude Desktop, while remote connectors, such as Lumin's other entry, are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner turns a connector on for the organization before members can use it. For the current state of this extension, open its sheet in the official directory.

Limits

Limits of the Claude Lumin desktop extension

A connector is not an automation: Claude calls these tools while it answers you, and nothing happens on its own when a signer completes a document.

What this page says comes from the directory sheet and Lumin's developer documentation, which is written for Lumin's remote server rather than for this extension. Neither Claude's help center nor Anthropic's developer docs cover it. The verification badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic states on every sheet that it does not control a publisher's tools. For event-driven work on your documents, the Integrations hub lists the automation pages.

FAQ

Questions about the Claude Lumin desktop extension

01What can Claude do with this Claude Lumin extension?
Claude can handle the basics of a signature request from Claude Desktop. Three tools read your Lumin profile, the workspaces you belong to and the status of a signature request by its ID. Four tools upload a file to your workspace, convert Markdown into a PDF, send a signature request from a file and cancel an active one. Lumin's pitch for the extension is aimed at developers building document workflows.
02Can Claude send or cancel documents with this extension?
Yes. One tool sends a signature request from a file, and another cancels an active request, which Lumin describes as irreversible. Claude can also upload a file to your workspace and create a PDF from Markdown. No tool of the extension deletes a document, edits one already sent, or generates a document from a template, so a mistake in a sent contract means cancelling it and sending a fresh one.
03Does Claude ask before sending a signature request?
By default, Claude asks for confirmation before each action it carries out on an account for someone. No source describes a confirmation specific to the tools of this extension, so that general rule is what applies. On Team and Enterprise, workspace owners decide whether members can let some actions through without being asked, and they can block writing entirely for the organization. Read the recipients before agreeing to any send.
04Which Claude plans can run this Lumin extension?
No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, and none of the 819 directory sheets shows it. The general rule is that desktop extensions install on Claude Desktop, while remote connectors are open to all users across Claude's apps. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables a connector before members can use it. The directory lists this extension for Claude Desktop only; check its sheet on your own account.
05Does Claude see all my Lumin documents?
It sees what your Lumin account can see, nothing beyond it. To check which account that is, ask Claude for your profile: the extension returns the signed-in user's ID, name and email address. In practice, this extension has no tool that browses documents at all: Claude reads your profile, workspaces and a request you point it to. On Team and Enterprise, an owner can further restrict what the connector does for everyone, and members cannot lift that restriction themselves.
06What is the difference between the two Claude Lumin connectors?
They share a publisher, not a feature set. This desktop extension runs in Claude Desktop only and has 7 tools: profile, workspaces, upload, Markdown to PDF, and sending, reading or cancelling a signature request from a file. Lumin's remote connector works on Claude, the API and Claude Code and has 14 tools, adding templates, AgreementGen agreements and downloads of signed files and certificates. Choose the remote one if templates matter to you.
07Claude or an automation tool for Lumin?
They do different jobs. Claude works in a conversation: you ask it to send a PDF for signature or check a request, it does it and waits for you. It never reacts on its own when a signer completes a document or a deadline passes. If you want each finished contract filed or announced automatically in your team chat, that background work belongs to an automation tool rather than a conversation connector.
