Overview

Why connect Macaly Cloud to Claude

Asking Claude for an app usually ends with code in a chat window and no place to run it. With Macaly Cloud connected, the code goes straight into a project in your Macaly workspace: every file write becomes a commit, Macaly builds it and gives you a shareable preview, and when you explicitly ask, the app goes live on a macaly.app address you can share.

From idea to a link you can share. You ask for a pre-order page. Claude calls create_app, writes the pages with write_file, then hands back the shareable address from preview_app.

Fix a build that fails. When the preview stays blank, Claude reads the real error with get_logs instead of guessing, edits the faulty file and checks again.

Go live on your own domain. Once you explicitly ask, publish_app puts the app in production and connect_domain attaches your address; Macaly says these steps are never taken on their own.

What it will not do: Claude reaches only the Macaly workspaces your account can reach, never your own computer and never another user's projects. No tool accepts a file straight from your disk, either: it has to sit in Macaly's media library first. And nothing runs on a timer; Claude acts only while it answers you. For recurring jobs between apps, the Integrations hub lists the automation platforms we cover.

Vocabulary

Five words before you connect

The Claude vocabulary around this connector, in one minute.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already own, so Claude can work in it while it answers you.
Tool
One named thing the connector lets Claude do. Claude picks the ones it needs by itself; the directory sheet lists all of them.
Authorization
Macaly's own sign-in window, where you approve the access Claude will use afterwards. Granted once, per person, revocable.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before changing something in your account, shown in the conversation when it matters.
MCP
The shared standard connectors are built on: it is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service such as Macaly.
Connect

Set up the Claude Macaly Cloud connector in three steps

  1. 01

    Find Macaly Cloud in Claude

Open Claude's settings, go to Customize, then Connectors, and look for Macaly Cloud. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner has to enable the connector before each member can sign in.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Click Connect on its row, then sign in to Macaly in the window Macaly opens itself. Macaly adds that you approve access in that same window, and that the connector works in claude.ai, the desktop app and on mobile.

  3. 03

    Check the authorization screen

Read Macaly's approval screen before you accept. It belongs to the service, not to Claude, and it sets what the access covers. Macaly says the connection uses OAuth, or a team-scoped API key.

Tools

The 16 tools, sorted by what they do

Macaly Cloud gives Claude 16 tools: 9 that read your account, 6 that change something in it, and 1 no official source describes.

Nine tools read, six change your projects, and one is described by no source. Names stay exactly as Claude shows them.

What Claude reads (9)

9 tools

Nine tools that look at workspaces, projects, files, logs and deployments without changing anything.

get_deployment

Reports where a publication stands, the live address and any domains already attached. Claude polls it after a release until the deployment reads as ready.

When it helps
you published a minute ago and want to know whether the site is actually up.

get_logs

Fetches the build, dev-server or deployment logs of an app, so Claude sees the real error message rather than guessing what went wrong in the last step.

When it helps
the preview stays blank after your latest request and you need to know why.

Sourcemacaly.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

get_project

Gives a status picture of one app: the preview build state, its preview and live addresses, the project briefing and who is working on it right now.

When it helps
you come back to an app after a week and want Claude to get its bearings first.

Sourcemacaly.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

list_files

Returns the source files that make up an app, the map Claude consults before deciding which one to open next.

When it helps
you mention the contact form and Claude first has to locate the file where it lives in the project.

Sourcemacaly.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

list_projects

Shows the apps of a workspace, the most recently updated first, with a search box and paging for long lists.

When it helps
you have a dozen prototypes in Macaly and only remember part of the name of the one you need today.

Sourcemacaly.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

list_teams

Lists the Macaly workspaces your account can build in. Claude starts here when it has to pick where a new app should go.

When it helps
you belong to a personal space and a client's, and the new site must land in the right one.

Sourcemacaly.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

preview_app

Returns the live preview address of an app, ready to share with someone who should see the app before it goes public.

When it helps
you want a colleague to click through the new landing page before anything goes public.

Sourcemacaly.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

read_file

Opens one source file by its path so Claude can look at the current code before deciding what to propose.

When it helps
you ask why a button shows the wrong colour on the home page, and Claude checks the stylesheet first.

Sourcemacaly.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

skill_info

Reads Macaly's guide for a platform capability, such as a database, payments, authentication, media or search, with ready-made commands and the code patterns to follow.

When it helps
you ask for online payments and Claude needs Macaly's recipe before it starts on the code.

What Claude changes (6)

6 tools

Six tools that create, edit, delete or publish. No source describes Claude's confirmation for them: the general rule below applies.

connect_domain

Approval: see the rule

Attaches a custom domain to an app, or renames its Macaly subdomain. Macaly lists domain changes among the explicit actions that never happen by themselves.

What Claude asks for
no source describes Claude's own prompt here; the general approval rule covers it.
When it helps
the shop is ready and should answer on its own address.

Sourcemacaly.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

create_app

Approval: see the rule

Starts a new, empty app on Macaly's default stack and returns its briefing. Macaly's own agent builds nothing at this stage.

What Claude asks for
Claude's confirmation behaviour for this tool is undocumented, so the default rule applies.
When it helps
you describe an event sign-up page and want it to exist somewhere real.

Sourcemacaly.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

delete_file

Approval: see the rule

Removes one source file and records the deletion at once as its own commit in the app's history, so it can still be traced.

What Claude asks for
neither Anthropic nor Macaly documents a dedicated prompt before a deletion.
When it helps
cleaning out an old page nobody links to any more.

Sourcemacaly.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

duplicate_app

Approval: see the rule

Forks an existing app, history included, into a fresh copy you can change without touching the original.

What Claude asks for
nothing specific is described for forking; rely on the general rule.
When it helps
trying a bold redesign while the current site stays as it is.

Sourcemacaly.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

publish_app

Approval: see the rule

Puts the app into production at its macaly.app address. Macaly says the agent calls it only when you explicitly ask to go live.

What Claude asks for
that commitment is Macaly's; Claude's own confirmation step is not described, so the default rule holds.
When it helps
the preview looks right and you are ready for real visitors.

Sourcemacaly.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

write_file

Approval: see the rule

Writes one source file in full and commits it immediately. Macaly says each call is one atomic git commit with its own entry in the app's history.

What Claude asks for
no source pins down a confirmation for writing code; the general rule is the reference.
When it helps
adding a dark mode switch to an existing page.
Watch out
the first write on a cold workspace takes about 20-30 seconds longer.

Not documented (1)

1 tool

Listed on the directory sheet, but no official source explains it under this name. Nothing here is a capability.

run_project_command

No official source describes a tool by this name. The directory sheet publishes the name only, and Macaly's documentation lists a different command tool instead, so nobody can say what this one does. Claude's general approval rule, explained below, is the only reference.

Approvals

What Claude asks before acting

By default, Claude stops and asks before any action it takes on an account on your behalf. No source describes a prompt specific to Macaly's tools.

On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether members may let certain actions through without a fresh prompt, and they can restrict what a connector may do for the whole organisation, keeping reads open and closing writes for instance. Claude also works with your rights and nothing more. Macaly adds two commitments of its own: publishing and domain changes are separate, explicit actions, and every file change is a commit you can trace and roll back.

Plans

Which plans include it

None of the 819 sheets in the official directory shows availability by plan. Connector by connector, the answer is published nowhere.

The general rule is public: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner opens a connector for the organisation before members connect. For this one's current status, check its sheet in the official Claude directory. Macaly alone documents this connector; no Claude help page covers it.

Limits

Where this connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you; nothing rebuilds or publishes on its own when you are not in the conversation.

The directory's partner badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic says on every sheet that it does not choose a publisher's tools or guarantee they behave as described. Macaly's apps also follow one recipe: TanStack Start, Vite and Tailwind, with Convex behind them. An app built this way stays an ordinary Macaly app: Macaly says you can open it in its editor, browse the version history, roll back or continue with its own agent. Other apps and their connectors are listed on the Integrations hub.

Two official sources disagree

Which tools does Macaly Cloud really give Claude?

What this page followsThe sheet is the more recent reading for the Claude connector; Macaly's page covers several AI clients and carries no date. Neither settles it for your account: once connected, the tool list Claude shows you is the reference.

FAQ

Questions about the Claude Macaly Cloud connector

01What can Claude do with the Macaly Cloud connector?
Claude can build and run web apps in your Macaly workspace from the conversation. It lists your workspaces and projects, reads files, logs, deployment status and Macaly's capability guides, and returns a preview link. On the writing side it creates and duplicates apps, writes and deletes source files, publishes to production and connects a domain. Macaly documents fifteen of the sixteen tools; run_project_command is described by no source under that name.
02Can Claude delete code or publish my app without me?
Claude can delete files and publish, but Macaly frames both carefully. Each deletion is recorded as its own commit, so it stays traceable and can be rolled back in the Macaly editor. Publishing and domain changes, according to Macaly, are separate explicit actions that are never taken on their own, and the agent publishes only when you explicitly ask. On top of that, Claude's default rule is to ask before any action it takes on your account.
03Does Claude ask before writing to my Macaly projects?
By default, yes: Claude asks for confirmation before any action it takes on an account on your behalf. Neither Anthropic nor Macaly describes a prompt specific to write_file, delete_file, publish_app or connect_domain, so that default rule is what applies. On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether members may let some actions through without a fresh prompt, and they can close writing for the whole organisation while keeping reads open.
04Which Claude plans is the Macaly Cloud connector available on?
No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, and none of the 819 directory sheets shows it. The general rule says remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, with an Owner or Primary Owner enabling them first on Team and Enterprise. Macaly names no Claude plan. Some Macaly actions, such as a custom domain, can still depend on what your Macaly account includes.
05Can Claude reach my computer or other people's Macaly projects?
No. Macaly states that Claude can only reach the workspaces your Macaly account can reach, never your local machine and never another user's projects. Everything runs in Macaly's cloud sandbox, and no tool accepts a file straight from your disk. Claude works with your rights and nothing more, and a workspace owner on the Claude side can restrict what the connector may do for the whole organisation. Files from your computer go through the app's media library in Macaly first.
06Why does Claude say it cannot write to my Macaly app?
Most often someone else has the app. Macaly locks it while its own agent is mid-turn or while another external editor has written recently, and the write comes back as CHAT_CLAIMED_BY_AGENT or CHAT_CLAIMED_BY_EDITOR. A FORBIDDEN answer means something else: Macaly Cloud is switched off for that workspace, or the action needs a feature your Macaly account lacks. For a claimed app, Macaly simply says to wait and retry. On a cold workspace, the first write also takes about 20 to 30 seconds longer.
07Claude or an automation platform for Macaly Cloud?
They do different jobs, so the choice depends on the task rather than a ranking. Claude with Macaly Cloud suits building in conversation: describing an app, fixing a build error, previewing and publishing when you decide. It acts only while you are talking to it, and Macaly says publishing and domain changes never happen on their own. An automation platform suits repeated runs that happen without you, triggered by events in other tools.
