Overview

What changes once Claude can query your NetSuite

NetSuite holds your accounting, orders, customers and subsidiaries. With the connector, a finance question no longer means building a saved search: you ask Claude in plain words, it writes and runs the query in NetSuite with your role's permissions, and brings the answer back into the conversation, with the option to create or update a record when you ask.

A figure without a new saved search. A controller wants open invoices by subsidiary. Claude describes the data it needs, builds a SuiteQL query and runs it with ns_runCustomSuiteQL, a tool Oracle limits to read-only queries.

The reports you already use. ns_listAllReports finds a standard or custom report, the filter tools list books, subsidiaries or nexuses, and ns_runReport runs it. The ns_report_filters_app tool adds an on-screen panel to pick the filters.

A record entered from the chat. With ns_createRecord, Claude can add a customer or another record type, and ns_updateRecord changes an existing one, within what your role allows.

What Claude will not do: run a SuiteQL query that writes, act as an Administrator (Oracle refuses that role for this service), or reach data your NetSuite role cannot open. Nothing happens on its own either: no journal is posted at month end because the date arrived. For scheduled record syncs, that is automation work, covered by the NetSuite Make integration. The two do different jobs; the Integrations hub lists the other platforms.

Vocabulary

Five words before you connect

The vocabulary of this connector, in one minute.

Connector
A link you set up once between Claude and an account you already have, so Claude can work in it while it answers you.
Tool
One named action the connector gives Claude. Claude chooses the tools it needs by itself, and the directory lists them by name.
Authorization
NetSuite's sign-in and consent step, where you hand Claude access under one role. Granted once, per person, and it can be revoked.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before it goes ahead with something that alters your account, shown in the conversation.
MCP
The shared standard connectors are built on. It is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside system such as NetSuite.
Connect

Connect NetSuite to Claude in three steps

  1. 01

    Find NetSuite in Claude

Open Claude's settings, go to Customize, then Connectors, and look up NetSuite. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner enables the connector first, then members authenticate one by one.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Click Connect on the NetSuite row and log in on the page NetSuite opens itself, choosing the role you want Claude to use. If the link breaks later, Disconnect and connect again.

  3. 03

    Read the authorization screen

Read the consent screen before you accept. It belongs to NetSuite, not to Claude, and it sets what the access covers. It may list wider rights than Claude uses day to day; asking before each action stays the default.

Tools

The 17 tools of the Claude NetSuite connector

NetSuite gives Claude 17 tools: 15 that read your account, 2 that change something in it.

Two groups here: what Claude reads and what it changes. Oracle describes every tool on the sheet. Names stay exactly as Claude shows them.

What Claude reads (15)

15 tools

Fifteen tools that look up records, reports, searches and metadata, or open a selection panel, without altering data.

ns_getRecord

Retrieves one NetSuite record, such as a customer, an invoice or a vendor, so Claude can read its fields back to you.

When it helps
you want the payment terms and open balance of one customer before a call.
Watch out
it needs REST Web Services permission on your role, like the other record tools.

Sourcedocs.oracle.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

ns_getRecordTypeMetadata

Returns the metadata of every record type, or of one of them: the available fields and their data types. Claude reads it before building a request.

When it helps
you are not sure whether a custom field exists on sales orders and want to check first.

Sourcedocs.oracle.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

ns_getSubsidiaries

Lists the subsidiaries in your account that can serve as report filters, so Claude knows which entities it may narrow down to.

When it helps
you run a group with several legal entities and want a report for one country only.

Sourcedocs.oracle.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

ns_listAllReports

Returns every standard and custom report available in your account, so Claude can find the right one by name instead of guessing.

When it helps
you remember roughly what the aged receivables report is called but not its exact title.

Sourcedocs.oracle.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

ns_runReport

Runs a report in your NetSuite account and displays the results in the conversation, with the filters Claude or you picked.

When it helps
the monthly profit and loss is due and you want it without opening the report center.
Watch out
results follow your role's visibility; figures outside it stay hidden.

Sourcedocs.oracle.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

ns_listSavedSearches

Returns all saved searches in your account. Oracle ties this tool to the Perform Search permission at view level.

When it helps
a colleague built a useful search last year and you want Claude to find it again without scrolling the whole list.

Sourcedocs.oracle.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

ns_runSavedSearch

Runs an existing saved search from your account and returns its results, reusing the criteria your team already trusts instead of rebuilding them.

When it helps
you want this week's open purchase orders from the search procurement maintains.
Watch out
the results are only as good as the search's own criteria.

Sourcedocs.oracle.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

ns_runCustomSuiteQL

Runs a SuiteQL query that Claude builds from your question. Oracle limits this tool to read-only queries and presents it as useful for gathering information of all types.

When it helps
no report answers your exact question, such as revenue by item family for one quarter.
Watch out
a query that would alter data is refused.

Sourcedocs.oracle.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

ns_getAccountingBooks

Lists the accounting books in your account that can filter report results, which matters if you keep more than one.

When it helps
you keep a secondary book for local rules and need the report run against it rather than the primary one.

Sourcedocs.oracle.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

ns_getAccountingContexts

Returns the accounting contexts available as report filters, so Claude can apply the one your finance team expects when it runs a report.

When it helps
the same account carries different names depending on context and you want the report in yours.

Sourcedocs.oracle.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

ns_getNexusIds

Returns the nexuses set up in your account, which can serve to filter report results. Tax work is where this matters most.

When it helps
you prepare a sales tax review and want figures for one nexus only, not the whole company.

Sourcedocs.oracle.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

ns_getSuiteQLMetadata

Retrieves the metadata of records you can reach with SuiteQL: fields, data types and joinable fields. It is groundwork for Claude before it builds a query.

When it helps
your question spans two record types and Claude needs to know how they link.

Sourcedocs.oracle.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

ns_selector_app

Opens an on-screen panel in the conversation to pick an existing record from your account, whenever a request needs one.

When it helps
three customers share a similar name and you want to click the right one instead of typing an ID.
Watch out
Oracle ties it to the same REST permission as the record tools.

Sourcedocs.oracle.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

ns_report_filters_app

Shows an on-screen panel for choosing the filters a report needs, such as period, subsidiary or book, before it runs.

When it helps
you prefer to set the filters yourself rather than describe them in a sentence and hope Claude reads them right.

Sourcedocs.oracle.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

ns_prompt_library_app

Opens a panel to browse, choose and use ready-made prompt templates that come from Oracle's Companion SuiteApp.

When it helps
you are new to the connector and want tested wording for common finance requests.
Watch out
the templates come from a separate SuiteApp that must be installed.

What Claude changes (2)

2 tools

Two tools that add or alter NetSuite records. No source describes a confirmation specific to them, so the general rule below applies.

ns_createRecord

Approval: see the rule

Adds a new record in NetSuite, for example a customer entered from details you give in the chat. Oracle ties it to REST Web Services at full level.

What Claude asks for
no source describes a confirmation specific to this tool; the general approval rule below applies.
When it helps
a new client signs and you want the customer record set up without switching screens.
Watch out
it works on any record type your role may create through REST.

Sourcedocs.oracle.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

ns_updateRecord

Approval: see the rule

Changes an existing record in NetSuite, such as a customer's address or a field on an order, within what your role permits.

What Claude asks for
nothing tool-specific is documented; the general rule below covers it.
When it helps
a vendor sends new bank details and the record needs the update today.
Watch out
Oracle advises checking which roles can reach this before installing the tools.

Approvals

What Claude checks with you first

By default, Claude stops and asks before each action it takes on an account for someone. The prompt appears in the conversation when it matters.

Oracle adds that when you ask for an action such as creating a customer, the client shows a pop-up asking permission to use the external tool. No source gives a tool-specific rule beyond that. On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether members may let some actions through without a prompt, and they can restrict a connector for the whole organization. Claude also works with the rights of the person who connected: Oracle says the tools give no access beyond what your NetSuite role allows, and a tool only shows up if your role has every permission it needs.

Plans

Which plans include it

None of the 819 sheets in the official directory shows plan availability. The answer per connector is published nowhere by Anthropic.

What is published is the general rule: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables a connector for the organization before members connect. Oracle's documentation says something narrower about this connector; the limits section below sets both side by side. For the live state, check the NetSuite sheet in the official directory.

Limits

Where this connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you, so nothing runs when a period closes or an invoice becomes overdue.

This page relies on Oracle's own documentation and the directory sheet: no Claude help article covers this connector. The tool list is an observed floor, not a promise. The partner badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic says on every sheet that it neither picks the tools a publisher exposes nor guarantees how they behave. Connect it knowing it comes from Oracle itself, and read the role requirements below before your first attempt.

Two official sources disagree

Which Claude plans can use the NetSuite connector?

What this page followsNeither is out of date. Anthropic's rule covers every connector; Oracle's line targets this one, but it is the publisher speaking, not Anthropic. Check the connector's sheet in the directory from your own account before relying on either.

FAQ

Questions about the Claude NetSuite connector

01What can Claude do with the NetSuite connector?
Claude can query and update your NetSuite data from a conversation. Fifteen tools read records and record type metadata, list and run standard or custom reports, list and run saved searches, run read-only SuiteQL queries, list the books, contexts, subsidiaries and nexuses used as report filters, and open panels to pick a record, set report filters or browse prompt templates. Two more tools create a record or update an existing one, within what your role allows.
02Can Claude create or change records in NetSuite?
Yes, through two tools. One creates a new record, such as a customer entered from details you give, and the other updates an existing record. Oracle notes they work on any record available through REST that your role is permitted to handle, which is why it advises reviewing which roles hold the connection permission. SuiteQL queries, by contrast, are read-only. No documented tool is described as deleting a record, so removals stay in the NetSuite interface.
03Does Claude ask before it changes a NetSuite record?
By default, yes: Claude asks for confirmation before each action it takes on an account for someone. Oracle also describes a pop-up in the client asking permission to use the external tool when you request an action such as creating a customer. No source gives a rule specific to one tool beyond that. On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether members may skip the prompt for some actions, and can block writing for everyone.
04Which Claude plans is the NetSuite connector available on?
Anthropic publishes no answer for a single connector: none of the 819 directory sheets shows plan availability. Its general rule is that remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, with an Owner or Primary Owner enabling them on Team and Enterprise. Oracle's documentation names a narrower requirement for this connector, reported in the limits section with its date. The directory sheet, opened from your account, is what counts.
05Does Claude see everything in our NetSuite account?
No. Oracle says the tools use the same access controls as the NetSuite interface and give no access beyond what your role allows. A tool only appears if your role holds all the permissions it requires, so the list itself can differ between colleagues. Oracle also refuses Administrator roles for this service. For tighter control, it suggests a dedicated role with the connection permission and only the record rights you want exposed.
06Why does Claude refuse to connect with my NetSuite Administrator role?
Because Oracle does not allow it. The NetSuite documentation says the service does not support Administrator roles, for better access control and security. Use a custom or existing non-administrator role and give it MCP Server Connection and OAuth 2.0 Access Tokens, plus REST Web Services for the standard tools. The account also needs Server SuiteScript, OAuth 2.0 and REST Web Services enabled, and the MCP Standard Tools SuiteApp installed from the marketplace.
07Claude or an automation tool for NetSuite?
They answer different needs, so there is no ranking. Claude is for questions and one-off entries in a conversation: open invoices by subsidiary, a report explained in plain words, a customer created after a signing. An automation tool moves data by itself, on a schedule or when something changes, such as syncing orders from a shop every hour. If a person asks each time, use Claude; if the same transfer must run unattended, automate it.
