What can the IEX Cloud Make integration do for you?

The IEX Cloud Make integration lets a Make scenario (the automation you build, a chain of modules) read financial data from your IEX Cloud account: prices, quotes, statistics, news and US economic figures. Each module is one brick of that chain, and you place it where your process needs a number.

A stock briefing for your team. Get a Stock's Quote fetches the current quote, List a Stock's Latest News adds the headlines, and a messaging app of your choice posts both where your team reads them.

A macro dashboard that fills itself. Get Daily Treasury Rate, Get Federal Fund Rate and Get Unemployment Rate each drop one figure into a Google Sheets row or a database, so an analyst stops pasting numbers from a browser tab.

A crypto log. Get a Cryptocurrency Price records the value of a coin whenever another app starts the scenario, for example when a deal closes in your CRM.

Know the limits before you start. IEX Cloud has no trigger in Make: nothing inside IEX Cloud can start a scenario. You start it on a schedule or from another app. When a listed module does not cover an endpoint, Make an API Call reaches the rest of the API with the same connection. How do you connect IEX Cloud to Make?

    Copy your API token

    Log in to IEX Cloud and open Access & Security. That screen shows your API tokens. Copy either the secret token or the publishable one; Make only needs one of them.

    Add an IEX Cloud module

    In your scenario, click the + and search for IEX Cloud, then pick the module you want. Under Connection, click Add and give the connection a name you will recognize later.

  3. 03

    Paste the token and save

    Paste the token into the field Make shows you and click Save. That connection (your IEX Cloud account linked to Make) now serves every IEX Cloud module in all your scenarios.

First scenario

Build your first scenario with IEX Cloud

GoalWhen the scenario runs on its schedule, Make fetches a stock quote from IEX Cloud and lists the latest news about that stock.

    Create the scenario

    Open the Scenarios page, create a new scenario and click the + in the middle of the editor. This first module is the one that starts every run.

  2. 02

    Add Get a Stock's Quote

    Search for IEX Cloud, choose Get a Stock's Quote and select the connection you created. Fill in the module fields for the stock you follow.

  3. 03

    Chain the news module

    Click the + on the right of the first module and add List a Stock's Latest News. Enter the same stock as in the first module, so both modules talk about the same company.

  4. 04

    Test with Run once

    Click Run once. Make runs the scenario one time and shows the bundles (the items passed from one module to the next) that each module received. Read them before adding anything else.

    Schedule and switch on

    Click the clock on the first module. A new scenario runs every 15 minutes by default, and you can change that. Then switch the scenario on and let it work.

IEX Cloud and Make: common questions

01Is the IEX Cloud Make integration free?
Yes, on the Make side. IEX Cloud is a standard app, available from the Free plan. That plan allows 2 active scenarios, runs no more often than every 15 minutes, stops each run after 5 minutes and caps transfer at 512 MB. Paid plans (Core, Pro, Teams, Enterprise) go down to a 1 minute interval, remove the limit on active scenarios and count usage in credits each month. Your IEX Cloud account is a separate matter.
02What do you need to connect IEX Cloud to Make?
You need an IEX Cloud account and one API token from it. Log in, open Access & Security, and copy either the secret or the publishable token. In Make, add any IEX Cloud module, click Add under Connection, name the connection, paste the token and click Save. That single connection then works for all 13 modules, so you only do this once. Once the connection exists, Make fills the module menus with what it can read, and you test the result with Run once.
03Does IEX Cloud start Make scenarios in real time?
No. IEX Cloud has no trigger in Make, neither scheduled nor instant, so nothing on the IEX Cloud side can launch a scenario. You have two ways to start one. Set a schedule on the first module, every 15 minutes by default on a new scenario. Or place a trigger from another app first, such as a form or a CRM, and add the IEX Cloud modules after it. Either way, the IEX Cloud modules then run each time the scenario does.
04What if the IEX Cloud module you need is missing in Make?
Use Make an API Call. It reaches any endpoint of the IEX Cloud API with the same connection as the other modules, so you are not limited to the 11 actions and 2 searches in the list. You write the request yourself, which takes a look at the IEX Cloud API documentation. The Make doc gives no numeric limit for this app, so test with Run once before you switch the scenario on.
05Should you use Make or n8n for IEX Cloud?
It depends on where your other automations already run. In Make, IEX Cloud comes with 13 modules across stocks, crypto and US data, plus Make an API Call for the rest of the API. n8n often offers a node for the same app, so check that list before deciding. Neither choice is better by default: keep your IEX Cloud flows in the tool your team already uses and maintains.
