AdEPT AutoText Zapier integrationAutomate AdEPT AutoText with Zapier.
The AdEPT AutoText Zapier integration has 3 actions, 0 triggers and 0 searches. All three send text messages for a school: one to a whole group, one to a single person as free text, one to a single person from a saved template. Another app always starts the Zap.

What the AdEPT AutoText Zapier integration is good for
Other school tools send texts through AdEPT AutoText, and nobody has to type them. AutoText texts the groups a school puts together for the occasion; in Zapier it only acts: a form, a sheet or a calendar hands it a name, a number or a group, and AutoText sends the message.
Three results show up most. A confirmation for every consent form: when a parent fills in a trip form, Send Single Template Message texts them the school's approved wording, and can also put them into a named group for later. A quick note to one person: an office manager who logs late pickups in a sheet can send each row to Send Single FreeText Message, with the message built from the sheet's own columns. One text for a whole group: Send Group FreeText Message reaches every member of a group you already set up in AutoText, such as a sports team's parents.
What Zapier does not do here: AdEPT AutoText has no trigger, so a reply or a delivery report never starts a Zap. There is no search step to look up a contact or a group. And the group action only works with groups that already exist; it does not build one from scratch.

Zapier words, explained once
Seven terms carry the rest of the page. Here is each one in plain English.
- Zap
- An automation you build in Zapier: one event starts it, then one or more steps run each time that event happens again.
- Trigger
- The event that starts a Zap, like a new form response. AdEPT AutoText has none, so another app always takes this role.
- Action
- A step that does the work once the Zap runs. All three AutoText operations are actions that send a text.
- Task
- What Zapier bills you for: one action that completes successfully. Your plan's allowance is counted in tasks.
- Polling vs instant
- Zapier checks a polling trigger on a timer. An instant trigger is pushed by the app itself as soon as the event happens.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap continue only when the data matches your rule, for example only forms marked as consent given.
- Connection
- Your AutoText account, linked to Zapier one time and then reused by every step that sends through AutoText.
What AdEPT AutoText costs you in Zapier tasks
The math stays simple, because AutoText only ever sits on the action side of a Zap.
- TriggerNever billed
- Each AutoText action that succeeds1 task
- Free plan100 tasks a month, two steps per Zap
- Premium appNo
The trigger from your form, sheet or calendar never costs a task, however often Zapier checks it. Each text that AutoText sends successfully counts as one task in Zapier, and a failed send is not counted. AdEPT AutoText is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan: 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps. The free plan stops at two steps, though. A form plus one AutoText action fits. Add a filter, or a second action such as logging the send in a sheet, and the Zap becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan. Some apps and actions take more than one task, so check the task history after a first run.
Connect AdEPT AutoText to Zapier in 3 steps
- 01
Open the Apps page
From your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. You need an AdEPT AutoText account first, with access to the groups and templates the Zap will use.
- 02
Find AdEPT AutoText
Type AdEPT AutoText into the search box of the dialog, select it in the results, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the AutoText side for sign-in.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Log in to AutoText in that tab and let Zapier use the account. The groups and templates a Zap can offer are the ones this account sees, so sign in with the account that owns them.
Your first Zap: confirm every trip consent by text
GoalEach new consent form response gets the parent a templated confirmation text.
- 01
Create the Zap on the form
Start a new Zap with the form as the trigger, since AutoText cannot start one. Pick the trip consent form that collects the parent's name and mobile.
- 02
Test the trigger
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent responses, so you map the name and mobile from a real parent rather than a blank example.
- 03
Add Send Single Template Message
Choose AdEPT AutoText, then
Send Single Template Message. Map name and mobile, pick the template, and set whether the parent joins a group and which one. - 04
Test the send
Run the step once with a mobile number you control and read what came back. Checking on a real response shows whether the number format from the form works.
- 05
Publish
Click Publish. From then on, only responses submitted after publishing get a text; forms filled in earlier are left as they are.
The 3 AdEPT AutoText actions in Zapier
AdEPT AutoText gives you 3 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Send Group FreeText Message
ActionIn Zapier“Select a pre-selected Ad-Hoc Group and send to its members”
Pick one of your existing ad-hoc groups, write the message, and AutoText sends it to everyone in that group at once.
Send Single FreeText Message
ActionIn Zapier“Allows you to send a single message”
Write the message yourself, or build it from fields of an earlier step, and AutoText sends it to one named person at one mobile number.
Send Single Template Message
ActionIn Zapier“Sends a single text message based on a selected Templated from AutoText”
Instead of free text, this uses a template you keep in AutoText, sends it to one person, and can add that person to a group in the same move.
When an AdEPT AutoText Zap breaks
Zapier attaches no help article to AdEPT AutoText, so these are the general failure modes of any Zap, applied to sending texts.
None of these is an AutoText fault, but here a slip lands on parents' phones, where a stray row in a sheet would go unnoticed. Read the four cases before switching the Zap on, and turn to Zapier troubleshooting for anything else.
Earlier responses get no text
A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Parents who filled the form before publishing never get a message from it; catching them up is a separate job.The Zap keeps restarting
If a later step writes back into the sheet the trigger watches, each write can start the Zap again, sending repeat texts and burning tasks fast.A bulk upload is held back
Paste a whole year group into a watched sheet at once and Zapier's flood protection can hold the trigger back instead of texting everyone in one burst. No duplicate texts from polling
On a polling trigger Zapier remembers what it already processed, so the same response does not send a second text on the next check.
