Overview

What the ClickFunnels Classic Zapier integration does for your funnels

ClickFunnels Classic builds landing pages and sales funnels. Connected to Zapier, it can start an automation the moment someone buys, fails to pay or does something as a contact, and other steps can create contacts, opt them in, and move them between lists and tags.

Buyers sorted the second they pay. A course creator sells a program, and New Successful Purchase fires at once. Add Tag to Email marks the buyer as a customer, so the right follow-up starts.

Failed payments that get a second chance. New Failed Purchase catches a payment that did not go through, and Add Email to List drops that person into a recovery list instead of losing them.

Leads from elsewhere, inside your funnel. A webinar sign-up collected in another tool becomes an opt-in with Create Contact Optin, attached to the funnel, step and page you choose.

What Zapier does not do here: anything outside the eleven operations described below, since no setting adds another. For a need that falls outside them, API Request (Beta) sends a raw request with your connection, which is a job for someone technical. Before you go that way, compare with the ClickFunnels Classic Make integration, or ask our Zapier agency to scope it.

Vocabulary

Zapier words you will meet on this page

Eight terms in plain English. Each one comes back later without a second explanation.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it to happen.
Action
What the Zap does once it starts: the step that writes, sends or changes something for you in an app.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completes successfully, and your plan counts those.
Polling vs instant
Zapier checks a polling trigger on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app itself, the moment the event happens.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up something already in an app, so the steps after it can use what it found.
Connection
Your ClickFunnels Classic account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step that touches it.
Cost

What a ClickFunnels Classic Zap costs you in tasks

Zapier bills completed actions, never the waiting. ClickFunnels Classic is not a premium app, so it runs on the free plan (operations read on 1 October 2026, integration version ClickFunnelsCLIAPI@1.8.1).

  • TriggerFree, never counted
  • Each successful action1 task
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps only
  • Premium appNo, it works on the free plan

The trigger never costs a task, however many sales come in. Each successful action counts once, so a three-action Zap uses three times what a one-action Zap uses. A failed action is not counted. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but each Zap stops at two steps: one trigger, one action. Add a filter, a Find Contact Profile search or a second action, and it becomes a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan. A few apps and actions take more than one task, so check your usage after the first sales go through.

Connect

Connect ClickFunnels Classic to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In your Zapier account, open Apps and click + Add connection. Type ClickFunnels Classic in the dialog's search box and pick it from the results. It is listed under that exact name.

  2. 02

    Sign in to ClickFunnels Classic

Click Add connection. A tab opens on ClickFunnels Classic: sign in with the account that owns the funnels, lists and contacts your Zaps will touch, or one with read and write access to them.

  3. 03

    Grant access

Allow Zapier to use the account. Every ClickFunnels Classic step in every Zap then reuses this connection. Zapier's help center has a getting-started article for this app if you get stuck.

First Zap

Your first Zap: tag every buyer and take them off the prospect list

GoalWhen a purchase succeeds, the buyer's contact profile gets a customer tag and leaves the static list you use for prospects.

  1. 01

    Build: pick the trigger

Start a new Zap, choose ClickFunnels Classic and the New Successful Purchase event, then your connection. A lightning bolt shows the trigger is instant.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent successful purchases of your account, so you map the next steps on a real sale.

  3. 03

    Add the tag

Click the plus icon and choose Add Tag to Email. Map the buyer's email from the trigger and type the customer tag. Both fields are required.

  4. 04

    Leave the prospect list

Add Remove Email From List, pick the static list you use for prospects and map the same email again. The list and the email are both required.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test each step and check the contact profile in ClickFunnels Classic. Click Publish. With two actions, this is a multi-step Zap: it needs a paid plan and uses two tasks per sale.

Triggers

ClickFunnels Classic triggers: three events, all instant

3 events start a Zap when something happens in ClickFunnels Classic, and 3 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

New Contact Activity

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when Contact activity record is created.”

Starts your Zap each time ClickFunnels Classic records a new activity for a contact. It is the broad signal that someone did something in your funnels, beyond buying.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
a coach wants every new contact activity logged in the CRM the sales team actually reads.
Watch out
one contact can produce several activities, so never use it to create one record per person.
2

New Failed Purchase

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a failed Purchase is made in a Funnel.”

Fires when a purchase fails inside a funnel. That person wanted to buy and something stopped them, so the follow-up matters.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
an ecommerce founder sends declined buyers into a recovery sequence while the intent is fresh.
Watch out
the same buyer may fail, then succeed, so your recovery Zap should not assume a failed buyer stays one.
3

New Successful Purchase

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a successful Purchase is made in a Funnel.”

Picks up every purchase that goes through in one of your funnels. It is the trigger for everything that should follow a sale: access, onboarding, tagging, reporting.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
an online course seller grants course access the minute payment clears.
Watch out
sales made before you publish the Zap are not picked up, so earlier buyers need a separate pass.
Actions

ClickFunnels Classic actions: what your Zap can write

ClickFunnels Classic gives you 7 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Add Email to List

Action

In Zapier“Add a Contact Profile Email to a List.”

Puts a contact profile's email into one of your static lists.

When to use it
buyers of a low-ticket offer join the list you use to pitch the next product.
Watch out
only static lists are offered, and the email must match a contact profile.
2

Add Tag to Email

Action

In Zapier“Add a Tag to a Contact Profile by Email.”

Adds a tag to the contact profile that matches an email.

When to use it
buyers of each offer get a tag naming it, so segmenting later takes no digging.
Watch out
the tag is free text, so a spelling change gives you a different tag instead of reusing the old one.
3

Create Contact Optin

Action

In Zapier“Creates a new opt-in for an email.”

Records a new opt-in for an email on a funnel, a funnel step and a page you choose.

When to use it
webinar sign-ups gathered in another tool count as opt-ins on the funnel that sells the replay.
Watch out
funnel, funnel step, page and email are all required, so the funnel must exist first.
4

Create Contact Profile

Action

In Zapier“Create or update a Contact Profile for an email.”

Creates a contact profile for an email, or updates it if that email already has one.

When to use it
a lead captured at an in-person event gets a profile in ClickFunnels Classic before any tag or list step runs.
Watch out
the email is the only required field and works as the key, so a typo creates a second profile.
5

Remove Email From List

Action

In Zapier“Remove a Contact Profile Email from List.”

Takes a contact profile's email out of a static list.

When to use it
someone who just bought leaves the prospect list, so they stop getting the sales pitch they already answered.
Watch out
it needs the same two things as adding: the list and the email.
6

Remove Tag From Email

Action

In Zapier“Remove a Tag from a Contact Profile by Email.”

Removes a tag from the contact profile of an email.

When to use it
when a refund comes through elsewhere, the customer tag comes off the profile.
Watch out
type the tag the way it appears on the profile, or the step has nothing to remove.
7

API Request (Beta)

Action

In Zapier“This is an advanced action which makes a raw HTTP request that includes this integration's authentication.”

An advanced action that sends a raw request to ClickFunnels Classic with your connection already attached.

When to use it
a developer needs an operation the other actions do not cover.
Watch out
requests only go to the app's own domains, and Stop on error decides whether a failure halts the Zap.
Searches

The ClickFunnels Classic search step

1 search step looks for data that already exists in ClickFunnels Classic, so a later step can use it.

ClickFunnels Classic has one search. It sits at the bottom of the action event list, under the SEARCH heading, and finds a contact profile by email.

1

Find Contact Profile

SearchFind or create

In Zapier“Find a Contact Profile by exact match Email.”

Looks up a contact profile from an exact email match and hands it to the next steps. With the create box ticked, the editor shows it as Find or Create Contact Profile, the same search that creates the profile when none exists.

When to use it
check a buyer exists before adding them to a list.
Watch out
the match is exact, so a different spelling of the address can miss.

The three settings every search exposes

  1. Successful if no search results are found?
Left on its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap there. Switch it on and the Zap carries on without a profile.
  2. Create X if it doesn't exist yet?
Tick it on Find Contact Profile and the step becomes Find or Create Contact Profile: it asks for what is needed to create the missing profile.
  3. If multiple search results are found?
Three ways out: keep the first match, which is the default, stop the Zap, or pass all of them on.
When it breaks

When a ClickFunnels Classic Zap breaks

Zapier attaches one help article to this app, a getting-started guide. The cases below come from how Zaps work in general and from what each step requires.

On a sales funnel, a broken Zap costs money quietly: a buyer never tagged, a failed payment never followed up. If a run fails and you cannot see why, the Zapier troubleshooting guide is the next stop.

  • Past sales are never picked up

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you publish it. Purchases and contacts from before stay as they are, and catching up on them is a separate job.
  • A contact Zap that fires itself

If an action writes something that ClickFunnels Classic records as new contact activity, New Contact Activity can start the Zap again and burn tasks.
  • A launch day that gets held back

A big launch can bring a sudden wave of purchases. Zapier's flood protection may hold back a batch that large instead of running it all at once.
  • An API request outside the app

API Request (Beta) only reaches domains tied to ClickFunnels Classic. Set Stop on error to yes if a failed request should halt the Zap.

FAQ

ClickFunnels Classic Zapier integration: frequent questions

01Is the ClickFunnels Classic Zapier integration free?
Yes, as long as each Zap stays at two steps. ClickFunnels Classic is not a premium app, so it runs on the free plan, which gives you 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps. The limit is the shape of the Zap: one trigger and one action. Add a filter, a Find Contact Profile search or a second action and it becomes a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan. Tagging every buyer, for example, is still a two-step Zap.
02How many tasks does a ClickFunnels Classic Zap use?
One task per action that completes. The trigger is free, so a new purchase or contact activity reported by ClickFunnels Classic costs nothing on its own. A Zap that removes a prospect tag and then adds the buyer to a customer list uses two tasks per sale. An action that fails is not counted. On launch days, multiply your expected sales by the number of actions in the Zap to see whether your plan will hold.
03Is ClickFunnels Classic on Zapier real time?
Yes, for all three triggers. New Contact Activity, New Failed Purchase and New Successful Purchase are instant: ClickFunnels Classic tells Zapier the moment the event happens, and the Zap starts right away whatever your plan. The plan interval grid, 15 minutes on the free plan, does not apply to them. In the editor, an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt. There is nothing to set on your side: the type comes from the app itself and cannot be switched from the editor.
04What does it take to connect ClickFunnels Classic to Zapier?
A ClickFunnels Classic account and a Zapier account. Sign in with the account that owns your funnels and contacts, or one with read and write access to them. Then prepare what the actions require: Create Contact Optin needs an existing funnel, funnel step and page, and the list actions need a static list. Zapier's help center also has a getting-started article for this app, attached to its app page. Read it first.
05Why does Find Contact Profile miss a contact that exists?
Because it matches the email exactly. A different spelling, or another address for the same person, is enough to come back empty. By default, an empty search stops the Zap there. You can switch on the setting that lets the Zap continue, or tick the create box to turn it into Find or Create Contact Profile, which creates the profile when none is found. Whether a search wants the exact value or something close is decided by each app, and here it is exact.
06What if the ClickFunnels Classic operation you need is not listed?
Then the regular steps cannot do it, but API Request (Beta) may. It sends a raw request to ClickFunnels Classic using your existing connection, limited to the app's own domains. It is meant for someone comfortable with the app's API. The visible list otherwise holds three triggers, seven actions and one search, read on 1 October 2026. If that is not enough, compare with the Make integration of ClickFunnels Classic before building a workaround.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for ClickFunnels Classic?
It depends on where the rest of your marketing stack lives and on who maintains the workflows. On Zapier, ClickFunnels Classic gives you instant triggers on purchases and contact activity, plus actions on contacts, lists and tags, which covers most post-sale routing. If you need more, compare what each tool exposes for this app before choosing. Price your volume too, since Zapier bills every completed action and launch days spike.
