What the CodeQR - Link and QR Analytics Zapier integration does
CodeQR is a platform for short links, QR codes and simple pages, each one with its own tracking. Connected to Zapier, it can start an automation when your team creates one of those, and other apps can create or remove links and QR codes in CodeQR without anyone logging in.
A QR code for every campaign link. New Link starts the Zap and Create a QR Code produces the matching code, ready for a flyer or a trade show banner.
Short links made from other tools. Create a Link turns any destination URL into a short link, for instance when a product goes live in your shop and the social team needs a trackable link.
A tidy account. Delete Link and Delete QR Code remove what a campaign no longer needs, once another tool says it has ended.
What to know before you start: the 3 CodeQR triggers are polling triggers. Zapier checks CodeQR on a timer, every 15 minutes on the free plan, so a new link can wait a while before the Zap runs. There is no trigger for a scan or a click, and nothing in Zapier reads the scan statistics: the Zap reacts to things being created, not to them being used. A Zap also never picks up the links and codes that existed before you switched it on.

Zapier terms, one line each
Eight words do most of the work on this page. Here is what each one means, in everyday English.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap, such as a new short link in CodeQR. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
- Action
- What the Zap does once started: the step that creates, deletes or sends something for you, like a QR code.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action the Zap completes successfully. Your plan's allowance is counted in tasks.
- Polling vs instant
- A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app the moment it happens. CodeQR's are polling.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when the data that arrived meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
- Search step
- A step that looks up something already in an app, such as an existing link, so the next steps can use it.
- Multi-step Zap
- Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A filter, a search or a second action makes one, and it needs a paid plan.
What CodeQR costs you in Zapier tasks
CodeQR is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan. Two things decide your bill: the actions, and how often Zapier checks.
- Premium appNo, available on the free plan
- CodeQR triggers3, all polling
- Free plan100 tasks per month, two-step Zaps
- Each successful action1 task
The trigger never costs a task, and Zapier checking CodeQR for new links costs nothing either, however often it looks. Each action that succeeds, one link created or one QR code deleted, counts as one task; an action that fails is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps only, and a check every 15 minutes. Add a filter or a Retrieve Link search and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. Paid plans also check faster, as the grid shows.
Connect CodeQR to Zapier in 3 steps
- 01
Go to Apps
In your Zapier account, open Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your CodeQR account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every CodeQR step of every Zap.
- 02
Search for CodeQR
Type CodeQR in the dialog, pick CodeQR - Link and QR Analytics, then click Add connection. You need an existing CodeQR account with access to the links and codes involved.
- 03
Sign in and authorize
Sign in to CodeQR in the tab that opens and grant Zapier access to the account. The connection then shows up in every CodeQR trigger, action and search you add.
Your first Zap: a QR code for each campaign link
GoalWhen the marketing team creates a short link in CodeQR that points to the campaign site, the Zap creates a QR code for it.
- 01
Build: start on New Link
Click Build, choose CodeQR and New Link as the trigger, then your connection. Zapier checks it on a timer, every 15 minutes on Free.
- 02
Test with real links
Run Test: Zapier brings back the three most recent links of the account. Pick one that points to the campaign site for the next steps.
- 03
Keep links to the campaign site
Add a Filter from the plus icon. Pick the destination URL field, a text rule such as contains, and the campaign site's domain, then click Configure & test.
- 04
Create the QR code
Add Create a QR Code. Choose the QR Code Type, which is required, decide between static and dynamic, and map the link from the trigger.
- 05
Test, then Publish
Test the steps and read what came back. With a filter, this Zap is multi-step and needs a paid plan. Click Publish to switch it on.
The 3 CodeQR triggers
3 events start a Zap when something happens in CodeQR - Link and QR Analytics. Zapier checks for them at the interval your plan allows.
New Link
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new link is created.”
Starts the Zap when someone creates a short link in CodeQR. It lets you pass every new link to the rest of your tools without copy and paste.
New Page
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new page is created.”
Fires when a new page is created in CodeQR. Pages are the third kind of object in CodeQR, next to links and QR codes, and they can feed your other tools too.
New QR Code
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new QR Code is created.”
Watches the QR codes of your CodeQR account and starts the Zap for each new one, made by hand or by another Zap. It is the one to use when the QR code, not the link, is the starting point.
The 4 CodeQR actions
CodeQR - Link and QR Analytics gives you 4 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Create a Link
ActionIn Zapier“Creates a new short link.”
Turns a destination URL, the only required field, into a CodeQR short link. Options cover flexible links with a dynamic destination, a page shown before the redirect, indexing and public stats.
Create a QR Code
ActionIn Zapier“Creates a new QR Code.”
Creates a QR code of the type you choose. Static codes are fixed and cannot be edited; dynamic ones can be edited and come with scan stats.
Delete Link
ActionIn Zapier“Deletes a short link.”
Removes a short link from CodeQR, identified by its Link ID. Useful to clean up links a campaign no longer needs.
Delete QR Code
ActionIn Zapier“Deletes a QR Code Action”
Removes a QR code from CodeQR, identified by its QR Code ID. The counterpart of Create a QR Code for the end of a campaign.
The 2 CodeQR searches
2 search steps look for data that already exists in CodeQR - Link and QR Analytics, so a later step can use it.
A search step looks up a link or a QR code that already exists in CodeQR and passes what it found to the next steps. In the editor, the searches sit at the bottom of the Action event list, under SEARCH. Three settings decide what happens when the result is not what you expected.
Retrieve Link
SearchIn Zapier“Retrieve the info for a link.”
Pulls the details of an existing short link so a later step can use them, for example to build a QR code or a message around it.
Retrieve a QR Code
SearchIn Zapier“Retrieves the info for a QR Code.”
Reads back the details of an existing QR code. The next steps can then reuse what CodeQR holds about it instead of asking someone to look it up.
The three settings every search exposes
- Successful if no search results are found?Left on its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap, and the steps that depend on it are skipped. Switched on, the Zap goes on empty-handed.
- Create X if it doesn't exist yet? This box turns a search into find-or-create. CodeQR offers no such variant for either search, so it will not appear here.
- If multiple search results are found?Three ways out when several items match: keep the first, which is the default, stop the Zap, or pass them all on.
When the CodeQR Zap breaks
Zapier links no help article to CodeQR, so the known traps are the general ones, all of them visible on a links-and-codes app.
Polling triggers, actions that create the very things a trigger watches, bulk imports: these are where CodeQR Zaps go wrong. Read the four cases before you publish, and if a Zap fails for another reason, go to Zapier troubleshooting.
The Zap that feeds itself
A Zap started by New Link that runs Create a Link, or New QR Code with Create a QR Code, creates the very thing its trigger watches and runs again and again.Old links are never picked up
A Zap only reacts to what is created after it is switched on. The links and codes already in CodeQR stay out; moving them is a separate job.A bulk batch gets held back
If a large batch of links or codes is created at once, the next check returns a huge pile, and Zapier's flood protection can hold it back. The same link never runs twice
Zapier remembers which links, pages and codes it has already seen on a polling trigger, so the same item does not start the Zap a second time.
