ElevenLabs Zapier integrationAutomate ElevenLabs with Zapier.

The ElevenLabs Zapier integration turns text from your other tools into spoken audio, without opening ElevenLabs each time. Zapier offers 2 actions for ElevenLabs and no trigger, so another app always starts the Zap. Here is how to build around that.

Overview

What the ElevenLabs Zapier integration does, and what it does not

Zapier connects ElevenLabs to the rest of your stack without code. It sends text that comes from another app, a blog post, a form answer, a CRM note, to ElevenLabs and gets it read aloud by one of your voices. A second, advanced step lets you call the ElevenLabs API directly with the same connection.

The integration is small: two actions, nothing else. That shapes everything. There is no ElevenLabs trigger, so a Zap can never start because something happened inside ElevenLabs; another app has to kick it off, and ElevenLabs comes second. There is no search step either, and no ready-made action to manage voices, projects or history.

Within those limits, three results are worth building. An audio version of every article: a new post in your feed goes through Convert Text to Speech, and the audio lands in your file storage for the editor to publish. Voice messages from structured text: a product update written in a doc becomes narration for a short video. Custom calls when the menu runs out: API Request (Beta) reaches the parts of the ElevenLabs API that Zapier has not packaged.

If the scenario grows beyond a couple of steps, compare platforms first. Our ElevenLabs Make integration page covers the same app on Make, and n8n vs Zapier sets out the criteria.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary before you start

Seven words come back throughout the page. One plain line each, then we use them as is.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. ElevenLabs has none on Zapier, so the trigger always comes from another app.
Action
What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or, here, generates something for you.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The allowance on your plan counts those.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked on a timer, an instant one is reported by its app on the spot. The trigger app you pick decides which.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. Adding a step to store the audio makes one, and it needs a paid plan.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap continue only when the incoming data meets a condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Cost

What an ElevenLabs Zap costs on Zapier

ElevenLabs is not a premium app on Zapier, so the free plan can use it. On the Zapier side, the bill is counted in tasks, and only some steps produce them.

  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • ElevenLabs on ZapierNot premium
  • Triggers in the appNone, another app starts the Zap

On the Zapier side, the trigger of the other app never costs a task, and neither do Zapier's checks for new data. Each action that succeeds is one task: a Zap that converts a text and then saves the audio to your drive uses two per run. A failed conversion is not billed by Zapier. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and two-step Zaps only, a trigger plus one action. Saving the audio somewhere, filtering, or adding any third step makes the Zap multi-step, which needs a paid plan.

Connect

Connect your ElevenLabs account to Zapier

  1. 01

    Open Apps

In Zapier, go to Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your ElevenLabs account linked once, then reused by every Zap step that calls ElevenLabs.

  2. 02

    Choose ElevenLabs

Type ElevenLabs in the search field of the dialog, select it and click Add connection. A new tab opens on the ElevenLabs side to finish the link between the two.

  3. 03

    Sign in and allow access

Sign in to ElevenLabs in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. Zapier then works with this account, so use the one that holds the voices you plan to pick in your Zaps.

First Zap

Your first Zap: an audio version of every new blog post

GoalWhen a new article appears in your blog feed, ElevenLabs reads it aloud and the audio is saved to a shared drive folder for the editor.

  1. 01

    Start with the feed

Create a Zap and pick the feed app as trigger, with the event for a new item. Paste your blog's feed address, then test: Zapier brings back the three most recent posts.

  2. 02

    Add Convert Text to Speech

Add an action, choose ElevenLabs and pick Convert Text to Speech. Select your connection, then map the post content into Text and choose a Voice.

  3. 03

    Keep the text reasonable

Test with one short post first and listen to the result before going further. Fix the mapping now, while a mistake costs a single test.

  4. 04

    Save the audio

Add a third step to store the generated audio in a drive folder. That third step makes this a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid Zapier plan.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Run the full test, check the file in the folder, then click Publish. Every new post now costs two tasks: one for the speech, one for the upload.

Actions

ElevenLabs actions on Zapier

ElevenLabs gives you 2 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Convert Text to Speech

Action

In Zapier“Converts text into speech using ElevenLabs AI voices”

Sends a piece of text to ElevenLabs and has it spoken by the voice you pick, so written content from any app comes out as audio. Both the text and the voice are required.

When to use it
a newsletter team publishes a listen-to-this-issue version of each edition.
Watch out
the text is sent exactly as mapped, so check in the test that the field holds the words to read and nothing else.
2

API Request (Beta)

Action

In Zapier“This is an advanced action which makes a raw HTTP request that includes this integration's authentication.”

An advanced step that sends your own request to the ElevenLabs API, signed with the connection you already made. It opens up what the single ready-made action does not cover.

When to use it
an operation the ElevenLabs API offers but Zapier never turned into an action.
Watch out
only domains tied to ElevenLabs are accepted, and Stop on error decides whether a failed call halts the Zap.
When it breaks

When an ElevenLabs Zap breaks

Zapier links one help article to ElevenLabs, a getting-started guide. The failures below come from how Zapier and these two actions work.

Four cases explain most failed runs. Look at them before blaming the voice, and use our Zapier troubleshooting guide for anything else.

  • Empty text, failed step

Convert Text to Speech needs both Text and Voice. If the trigger app sends an empty field, the step stops; a filter in front of it avoids that.
  • API Request refuses the URL

The advanced step can only make requests to domains associated with ElevenLabs. Paste an address from another service and the request is refused.
  • Old content never converted

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Articles published before that are not picked up; converting the backlog is a separate job.
  • A burst of new items held back

If the trigger app suddenly returns a huge batch, after an import for example, Zapier's flood protection can hold the run back instead of converting everything.

FAQ

ElevenLabs Zapier integration: frequent questions

01Is the ElevenLabs Zapier integration free?
On the Zapier side, yes, within the free plan. ElevenLabs is not a premium app, so a free Zapier account can use it, with 100 tasks a month and Zaps of two steps: a trigger from another app and one ElevenLabs action. Store the audio afterwards, add a filter, or chain anything else, and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid Zapier plan. You also need your own ElevenLabs account to make the connection.
02How many Zapier tasks does an ElevenLabs Zap use?
One per successful action, per run. The trigger from the other app costs nothing, and neither do Zapier's checks for new data. A Zap that converts each new post to speech uses one task per post; if it also uploads the audio to a drive, that is two. A conversion that fails is not counted by Zapier. On a busy feed, remember that the free plan stops at 100 tasks a month.
03Does an ElevenLabs Zap run in real time?
It depends entirely on the app that starts it, because ElevenLabs has no trigger on Zapier. If that app has an instant trigger, the Zap starts as soon as the event happens, on any plan, and the editor shows a lightning bolt. If it is a polling trigger, Zapier checks on a timer: every 15 minutes on Free, 2 minutes on Professional, 1 minute on Team and Enterprise. Once started, the ElevenLabs step runs straight after.
04What does connecting ElevenLabs to Zapier require?
An ElevenLabs account you can sign in to, and access to whatever you want the Zap to use in it. The connection is made once from the Apps page with the Add connection button, in a tab that opens on the ElevenLabs side, and every Zap reuses it afterwards. Before building, decide which voice you want: Convert Text to Speech will ask for a Voice as well as the Text, both required. Nothing else is needed on the Zapier side.
05Why can a Zap not start from ElevenLabs?
Because Zapier exposes no ElevenLabs trigger at all: the app only offers two actions. A Zap always begins with a trigger, so the event has to come from another tool, such as a new item in a feed, a new row in a spreadsheet or a submitted form. ElevenLabs then sits in second position. If the event you want to react to happens inside ElevenLabs, Zapier cannot see it through this integration today.
06What if the ElevenLabs action you need does not exist?
Then Zapier does not package it, and only two actions are visible: Convert Text to Speech and API Request (Beta). The second is the way around the gap. It sends a request of your own to the ElevenLabs API using the connection you already have, so any operation the API offers becomes reachable if you know how to write the call. It only accepts domains tied to ElevenLabs, and each successful call is still one task.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for ElevenLabs?
Choose on criteria rather than on brand, knowing this page only documents the Zapier side. There, ElevenLabs offers two actions and no trigger, nothing to host, and each successful action is a task. Check whether Make or n8n exposes the ElevenLabs operations your flow actually needs, how each one counts usage when you convert many texts, and who on your team will maintain the automation once it runs. Those three answers decide it.
