What the Learnyst Zapier integration does for a test-prep business
Learnyst lets you build and sell courses and mock tests from your own branded website and mobile apps, with no technical setup. Through Zapier, nine Learnyst events can start automations in your other tools, and two Learnyst actions can register a learner or open a paid product from events that happen elsewhere.
Think of a school that sells mock tests. Three results come out of it with no copy and paste. First, scores in one place: Test Submit fires on every submitted test and the details land in the spreadsheet your tutors read. Second, buyers recorded on the spot: Purchase starts a Zap the moment a learner buys a product. Third, access opened from outside: a sale recorded in another tool runs Paid Enrollment, which gives an existing learner paid access to the product you name. None of the three needs a filter, so each fits the free plan.
Now what Zapier does not do here. There are only two actions: you cannot update a learner, remove access or create a product from a Zap. There is no search step either, so a Zap cannot check whether a learner already exists before acting. And nothing that happened before your Zap went live is picked up.

Zapier vocabulary in one minute
Six words come back all over this page. Here they are in plain English.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is switched on, Zapier sits and waits for it.
- Action
- What the Zap does after it starts: the step that creates, sends or moves something on your behalf.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completed successfully, and your plan counts those.
- Instant vs polling trigger
- An instant trigger is reported by the app as soon as it happens. A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap continue only when the incoming data meets a condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
What a Learnyst Zap really costs
Learnyst is not a premium app on Zapier, so it works from the free plan.
- Premium appNo
- Free plan100 tasks a month
- Free plan Zap sizeTrigger + 1 action
The trigger never costs a task, and neither does waiting for the next test. Each action that succeeds counts as one task; one that fails counts nothing. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but only two-step Zaps: one trigger, one action. A second action or a filter turns it into a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below concerns polling triggers only: all nine Learnyst triggers are instant.
Connect Learnyst to Zapier in three steps
- 01
Open your connections
In your Zapier account, go to the Apps page and click + Add connection. Check first that you have a Learnyst account with access to the learners and products the Zap will touch.
- 02
Pick Learnyst
Type Learnyst in the search box of the dialog, select it from the results, then click Add connection. A new browser tab opens on the Learnyst side, ready for you to sign in.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Log in to Learnyst in that tab and allow Zapier to use the account. The connection is saved once, then reused by every Learnyst step in every Zap you build.
Your first Zap: log the results of one mock test
GoalEach time a learner submits a test on Learnyst, add a row to your results spreadsheet, but only for the mock test you choose.
- 01
Create the Zap
In Zapier, start a new Zap. You build it top to bottom: the app and event that start it, then what follows, then you map the fields between the steps.
- 02
Set the trigger
Pick Learnyst and Test Submit, then your connection. It is an instant trigger, so the editor shows a lightning bolt next to it.
- 03
Test it on a real submission
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items from your account: pick one and read what came back before building the rest.
- 04
Add the filter
Click the plus icon, add Filter, then fill the three boxes: the field to look at, the rule, and the value to compare with. Use a text rule on a text field.
- 05
Add the spreadsheet row
Add your spreadsheet app and its new row action, map the learner and test fields from the trigger, then test the step and check the row it created.
- 06
Publish
Click Publish to switch the Zap on. The filter makes it a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan; drop the filter to stay on the free one.
The 9 Learnyst triggers
9 events start a Zap when something happens in Learnyst, and 9 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.
Custom Fields
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when learner fills up custom field form.”
Starts the Zap when a learner fills in your custom field form on Learnyst. Whatever extra questions you ask beyond the basics arrive in Zapier, ready to be stored or acted on.
Initiate Transaction
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when the learner initiates the transaction.”
Fires when a learner starts a transaction, before anything says the payment went through. It catches buying intent at the very first step of the checkout.
Lesson Completed
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when learner completes the lesson.”
Each lesson a learner finishes sends one run to Zapier. It is the finest signal of progress the integration offers, one step below a whole course.
Mobile OTP Verification
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a learner verifies the mobile with OTP for the first time.”
Goes off when a learner confirms their mobile number for the first time with a one-time code. From that point on, you know the number is real.
Profile Updated
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when learner updates their profile.”
Notices when a learner edits their own profile on your Learnyst platform. Every change counts, so small corrections show up as well as real updates.
Purchase
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when learner purchases a product.”
A learner buys a product, and the Zap kicks off. For anything tied to revenue, from a sales log to a thank-you message, this is the clean starting point.
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new learner signs up to your learnyst platform.”
Every new learner who signs up to your Learnyst platform starts a run. It is the entry point for any welcome flow you want outside Learnyst.
Test Submit
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when learner submits a test.”
Runs each time a learner hands in a test. For a business built on mock tests, this is the trigger that turns attempts into data you can actually read.
Trial Enrolment
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when learner enrolls in a product.”
A learner enrolling in a product sets this one off, under the trial label shown in the editor. It marks the moment someone starts trying a course or test series.
The 2 Learnyst actions
Learnyst gives you 2 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Paid Enrollment
ActionIn Zapier“This action will give paid access to an existing student to a product.”
Gives an existing learner paid access to a product. You pass their email and type the product title, and Learnyst opens that product for them.
ActionIn Zapier“This action will register a learner to your learnyst platform.”
Registers a new learner on your Learnyst platform from an email address, the only required field. The account then exists for any later step that needs it.
When a Learnyst Zap breaks
Zapier lists no help article for Learnyst, so the traps below are the ones every Zap shares, applied to a course site.
None of them raises an alarm on its own: the Zap simply does less, or more, than you planned. When a run goes wrong, start with the Zapier troubleshooting page.
Past tests and purchases are ignored
A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Earlier submissions, sign-ups and sales stay out, and moving that history is a separate job.The Zap that feeds itself
Sign Up as trigger and Sign Up as action on the same platform can set the Zap off again and again, and burn through your task count fast.A bulk import floods the triggers
After a migration or a mass import of learners, a sudden wave of events can be held back by Zapier's flood protection instead of running one by one.
