Overview

What the Lessonspace Zapier integration does

Lessonspace is a shared online space for teaching live, one to one or with a group. On Zapier it offers one action, Launch Space: give it a name, and it launches the space with that name, or creates a new one if none matches. The Zap itself has to start in another app.

Three results people build with that single action. A space ready for every booked lesson: a new event in your calendar launches a space named after the student, so the room exists before the lesson. One room per one-to-one learner, reused each time: because an existing name relaunches the same space, mapping a stable name brings the learner back to the same room. A group space created when a class is added to a list: a new row in your spreadsheet triggers Launch Space with the class name.

What Zapier does not do here. Lessonspace has no trigger, so nothing that happens inside a lesson can start a Zap. There is no search either, so a Zap cannot check whether a space already exists before acting. And the integration has no action to rename, archive or delete a space: Launch Space only opens or creates. Each successful launch still counts as one task.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Seven words come up on this page. Here is each one in plain terms.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Lessonspace has none, so the trigger always comes from another tool.
Action
What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or creates something for you, here Launch Space.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completed successfully. The quota of your plan counts those.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked on a timer, Zapier asks the app for new items. An instant trigger is pushed by the app as it happens.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap carry on only when what arrived meets a condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Connection
Your Lessonspace account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Zap that launches a space.
Cost

What a Lessonspace Zap really costs

Lessonspace is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan. You pay for what the Zap does, never for what starts it.

  • Premium appNo, works on the free plan
  • Tasks on the free plan100 per month
  • Cost of one Launch Space1 task
  • Steps allowed on the free plan2 (one trigger, one action)

Each Launch Space that succeeds counts as one task, whether it opened an existing space or created a new one. A failed attempt is not counted, and the trigger in the other app costs nothing. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and Zaps of two steps: the other app's trigger plus Launch Space fits exactly. Add a filter or a second action and the Zap turns multi-step, which needs a paid plan. How fast it starts depends on the trigger of the other app.

Connect

Connect your Lessonspace account to Zapier

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. You need a Lessonspace account first, plus access to spaces you do not own if the Zap should launch them.

  2. 02

    Pick Lessonspace

Type Lessonspace in the search box of the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the Lessonspace side, where the rest happens.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Log in to Lessonspace in that tab and let Zapier reach the account. The connection is saved, and every Zap that uses Launch Space reuses it from then on.

First Zap

Your first Zap: a lesson space for each booked lesson

GoalEach time a lesson lands in your calendar, launch a Lessonspace space named after it, but only for the events that match a rule you choose.

  1. 01

    Build: pick the trigger

Create a Zap and choose your calendar as the trigger app, with the event that fires on a new booking. Lessonspace has no trigger, so the Zap always starts elsewhere.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent events of the connected calendar, so you pick a real lesson and build the rest on actual data.

  3. 03

    Add the filter

Click the plus icon, add Filter, then fill the field to look at, the rule and the value, so only lesson events go through. A text rule only works on text.

  4. 04

    Add Launch Space

Add Lessonspace, pick Launch Space and map the event title or the student's name into Space Name. Keep the name stable if you want the same room reused.

  5. 05

    Test and publish

Test the step, check in Lessonspace that the space exists, then click Publish. With the filter, this is a multi-step Zap and needs a paid plan.

Actions

The Lessonspace action

Lessonspace gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Launch Space

Action

In Zapier“If the name entered is that of an existing Space then that Space is launched. Alternatively if a name is entered that doesn't match the name of any existing Spaces then a new one is created.”

Opens the Lessonspace space whose name you give, or creates a fresh one when no space carries that name yet.

When to use it
a booking, a sign-up or a new class elsewhere should have its room ready without anyone setting it up.
Watch out
the match is on the name alone, so two lessons mapped to the same name share one space, and a slightly different name creates another.
When it breaks

When a Lessonspace Zap breaks

Zapier links no help article to Lessonspace. What follows are the general limits of any Zap, seen from this integration.

None of these throws an error while you build. They show up later, as a duplicate room or a lesson without a space. If you get stuck, open our Zapier troubleshooting page.

  • Past bookings get no space

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Lessons booked before that get no space from it; creating those is a separate job.
  • A bulk import can be held back

If the trigger app suddenly returns a huge batch, after an import of many bookings for example, Zapier's flood protection can hold the trigger back.
  • The same booking runs once

On a polling trigger, Zapier remembers what it has already seen, so the same event does not launch a space twice.
  • Name variations create duplicates

Launch Space matches on the exact name. An extra word or a different spelling in the mapped field creates a new space instead of reusing the old one.

FAQ

Lessonspace Zapier integration: frequent questions

01Is the Lessonspace Zapier integration free?
Yes, for Zaps of two steps. Lessonspace is not a premium app, so the free plan accepts it, with 100 tasks a month. A Zap made of one trigger in another app plus Launch Space fits that limit exactly, for instance a calendar event that opens a space. Add a filter to keep only lesson events, or a second action, and the Zap becomes multi-step, which requires a paid plan. Lessonspace's own subscription is a separate question.
02How many tasks does a Lessonspace Zap use?
One task each time Launch Space succeeds, and nothing for the trigger. It does not matter whether the action relaunched an existing space or created a new one: both count once. A failed attempt is not billed. If your Zap adds a second action after Launch Space, that one counts separately, so the same booking would then cost two tasks. A filter that stops a run means Launch Space never happens, so no task.
03Does Lessonspace work in real time with Zapier?
That depends on the other app, since Lessonspace has no trigger of its own. If the app that starts the Zap has an instant trigger, it reports the event right away and the space is launched straight after. If its trigger is polling, Zapier checks on a timer: every 15 minutes on the free plan, every 2 minutes on Professional, every minute on Team and Enterprise. Check the trigger of that app before promising anything.
04What does it take to connect Lessonspace to Zapier?
A Lessonspace account, and access to any spaces you do not own if the Zap should launch them. Open Apps in Zapier, click + Add connection, search for Lessonspace, click Add connection, then sign in and grant access in the tab that opens. You will also connect the app that starts the Zap, since Lessonspace cannot start one. The connection is reused by every later Zap. Check both connections before you build the first Zap.
05Why does Lessonspace create a new space instead of reopening one?
Because Launch Space matches on the exact name, and the name it received did not match an existing space. A different spelling or an added date is enough to create a new one. Map a field that stays identical from one run to the next, such as a fixed learner or class name, rather than an event title that changes every time. Then the same room keeps coming back. Test with two runs to confirm the room is reused.
06What if the Lessonspace operation you need is not available?
Then Zapier cannot do it for Lessonspace today. The integration has a single action, Launch Space, with no trigger and no search. Renaming, archiving or deleting a space, or reacting to what happens during a lesson, is not on offer. What you can do is combine Launch Space with the triggers and actions of the other apps in your Zap. For anything else, it happens inside Lessonspace. The other apps are where the flexibility lives.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Lessonspace?
It depends on your criteria, not on a ranking. On Zapier, Lessonspace offers one action that works from the free plan, as long as another app starts the Zap. If you need more than opening or creating a space, compare what each platform lists for this app before choosing. Hosting, the cost of each run and how much control you want over the flow are the other criteria. Try your own case before you decide.
