What is the best software for a home nurse in France in 2026?
For an independent nurse in France, the right software bills the Assurance Maladie from the patient's home, survives the round, and comes with a contract you can leave.
This page is about one job: the infirmier libéral, the self-employed nurse who visits patients at home in France and bills the national health insurance directly. If you are a nurse moving to France, working across the border, or building software for this market, US home health tools such as agency platforms will not help you. French billing runs on SESAM-Vitale teletransmission, the patient's Carte Vitale and your CPS professional card.
The short answer: Ozzen for a phone-first nurse who wants one price and no contract. CareCare if locums or a biller work with you. Albus for rural rounds with no signal. Vega EVE for a low price with the reader included.
The ranking is editorial: a sponsored placement is always labeled on its card, and no affiliate link changes a score.

How we chose and scored
A French home nurse cannot use just any practice software. To bill the Assurance Maladie she needs a program approved for SESAM-Vitale, an approved card reader and a connection. Patient data must sit with an HDS-certified host. So we only kept tools built for French nurses, and we judged them on what decides a contract here: teletransmission on the round, the real monthly cost, and how easily you can leave.
We read each vendor's pricing and FAQ pages and nurses' threads on the infirmiers.com forum, where the same complaints come back: long contracts hidden behind a trial, a reader you rent or leave a deposit for, and dead zones on the round.
Not ranked: agathe YOU and Soins 2000 publish no billing price on their sites, and Simply Vitale sells on quote. We kept the ranking to tools whose offer we could read on an official page.

What nursing software costs per month and per year
Published prices run from €0 to €120 a month. The free tier never teletransmits. The real jump comes with teletransmission, then with handing off rejected claims or all of your billing.
Monthly prices published by vendors, multiplied by 12 for the year
No teletransmission
Rounds, care files and handovers
€10 a month with CalendrIDEL DSI
- Ozzen Start: rounds and patient files
- CareCare: free for locums and billers
- CalendrIDEL: free toolbox
With teletransmission
Full software for a nurse who bills herself
€1,068 over a year
- CalendrIDEL Billing: €90, or €75 with your own reader
- Ozzen Pro: €119, so €1,428 a year
- CareCare Pro: €120, so €1,440 a year
Delegated billing
Someone codes, bills and chases rejections for you
Ask for the contract length with the price
- Ozzen Premium: dedicated billing expert
- Albus: support level priced on request
- Get the terms in writing
The Assurance Maladie's modernization allowance (FAMI) pays about €490 a year if you meet the mandatory indicators: check your eligibility on amelipro. It does not lower the vendor's price, it is paid separately.
Ozzen
Ozzen is built around the phone. The free Start plan already covers the round, care records and nursing notes, so you can run your patients on it before you bill a single act through it.
Billing starts with Pro at €119 a month. That plan adds SESAM-Vitale teletransmission on web and mobile, and a card reader that pairs with your phone so you invoice at the bedside. The pricing page does not say whether the €119 is before or after VAT, so ask before you sign.
The contract is the strong point: no commitment, and Ozzen says it will buy out your current subscription if another vendor has locked you in. For a nurse stuck in a long contract, that one line can decide the switch.
The catch: a full billing service (rejections handled for you, a dedicated NGAP expert) is a separate Premium tier, priced on quote.
- Free plan for rounds and care records
- Teletransmission from the phone on Pro
- Buys out a competitor's contract
- ✓One published price for billing
- ✓No commitment
- ✓Works on phone, tablet and computer
- ✗Free plan cannot teletransmit
- ✗Premium billing service on quote only
- ✗VAT status of the price not stated
The simplest path for a nurse who works from her phone: a known price, no contract, and a free plan to start.
CareCare
CareCare prices one seat: €120 a month for the nurse who owns the practice, the titulaire. The people around her get in for free. Locum nurses and billing assistants have free access, which is unusual and saves real money in a practice that rotates locums every summer.
There is no commitment. The FAQ is blunt about it: you can leave at any time.
Patient data is hosted in France on HDS servers. HDS is the French certification for hosting health data, roughly what a BAA and a compliant host mean together in the US. Every serious French nursing software should have it, and CareCare states it on its homepage.
The catch: no free trial is advertised, only a booked demo.
- Free seats for locums and billers
- HDS hosting in France
- No commitment
- ✓Clear price for the practice owner
- ✓Team members join at no cost
- ✓Leave whenever you want
- ✗No free trial advertised
- ✗Demo needed before you see the tool
- ✗Price is per owner, so each partner pays
The best value as soon as locums or a biller work alongside you. Book the demo with your real rotation in mind.
Albus
Albus is the pick for countryside rounds. The vendor says it was designed to keep working in a zone blanche, the French term for an area with no mobile coverage. You keep billing offline and the data syncs when the signal comes back.
Its top tier goes further than software: Temps Libre assigns you a dedicated biller who handles the admin for you. Few vendors offer a staffed billing service inside the same subscription.
Data is backed up on HDS-certified servers.
The catch is the price. Albus does not publish one: the rate depends on the level of support you choose, and you have to ask. Get the monthly amount, the card reader terms and the contract length in writing before any trial ends.
- Bills with no mobile signal
- Dedicated biller on the top tier
- HDS-certified backup
- ✓Made for dead zones on the round
- ✓Can take billing off your hands
- ✓Three tiers to grow into
- ✗No published price
- ✗You need a call to compare it
- ✗Contract terms only on request
The safest choice for rural rounds. Ask for the full quote in writing before you commit.
Vega EVE
Vega is a long-standing French nursing software vendor, and EVE is its app. The offer is easy to read: from €89 a month, no commitment, with the Carte Vitale reader included. The reader is often the hidden cost in this market, so having it in the price matters.
EVE runs on phone, tablet or computer, and you can invoice as you go through the round, with the reader in your bag. Data sits in an HDS-certified environment.
The catch: Vega also sells a desktop program and hardware bundles with separate prices that the site does not publish. Make sure the quote you get is for EVE and not a bundle.
- Card reader included
- From €89 a month without a contract
- Bills during the round
- ✓Low monthly price
- ✓No reader to buy or rent
- ✓Runs on phone, tablet or computer
- ✗Desktop version priced separately
- ✗Hardware bundles can confuse the quote
- ✗Fewer team features than CareCare
A low, clear price with the reader included. Check that your quote is for EVE alone.
Fiducial Equinox
Equinox comes from Fiducial, a large French accounting group. The software starts at €89 a month including VAT, and it comes with myDay, a mobile app for the round.
Watch the welcome offer. Six months free sounds generous, but the page states it applies only to the 24-month Equinox pack. Taking it means signing for two years. That is the classic trap nurses describe on forums: a trial that turns into a long contract.
Data is stored on HDS-labelled servers in France.
- Starting price includes VAT
- myDay app for the round
- HDS servers in France
- ✓Price shown with VAT
- ✓Accounting group behind the tool
- ✓Mobile app included
- ✗Launch offer tied to a 24-month pack
- ✗'From' price, so options add up
- ✗Less mobile-first than Ozzen
Solid if you want an accountant in the loop. Only take the free months if two years suits you.
CalendrIDEL
CalendrIDEL starts with a free toolbox and lets you climb one step at a time. The DSI plan costs €10 a month for computerized care files and round management, with a 21-day free trial.
Billing is a separate plan at €90 a month. Buy the card reader and the subscription drops to €75. Every paid plan is free of commitment and notice period, so you can stop the month you want.
The catch: billing on CalendrIDEL costs about the same as a full app like Vega EVE, so the low entry price mostly helps while you are setting up.
- €10 a month for rounds and care files
- 21-day free trial
- No commitment and no notice
- ✓Cheapest paid entry point
- ✓Free toolbox to begin
- ✓Leave without notice
- ✗Billing as dear as full apps
- ✗Reader to buy for the €75 rate
- ✗Tour and billing sold as separate plans
The cheapest way to get organized. Compare its billing plan with full apps before you switch it on.
Three words to know before any demo
If you trained outside France, these terms decide which software you can legally use and what it really costs.
Teletransmission and the two cards
You bill the Assurance Maladie electronically by reading the patient's Carte Vitale and your own CPS card in an approved reader. The software must be approved for SESAM-Vitale. A tool with no teletransmission, like Ozzen Start or CalendrIDEL DSI, organizes your work but cannot get you paid. If billing is your main pain outside France, see our medical billing software ranking.
HDS hosting
HDS is the French certification for hosting health data. CareCare, Vega EVE, Equinox, Albus and Ozzen all state their hosting on official pages. If a vendor cannot name its HDS host, do not enter patient data.
The contract behind the trial
Nurses on forums keep describing the same trap: a free period that commits you for years. Equinox ties its six free months to a 24-month pack. Ozzen, CareCare, Vega EVE and CalendrIDEL state no commitment. Ask for the length in writing, and compare it with what a practice management software asks of a full clinic.
Mac and the shared practice
Older installed software was long built for Windows. Ozzen, CareCare, CalendrIDEL and Vega EVE run in an app or a browser, on computer and phone. On a Mac, run the demo on your own machine before signing. In a shared practice, the same tool for everyone saves retyping handovers: Equinox shares the patient file across the practice.
Change software without losing payments
A switch goes wrong when invoices sent from the old tool get rejected and nobody sees it. These steps keep the money coming in.

What is the best software for an independent nurse in France?
For a nurse who works from her phone and wants no contract, Ozzen Pro at €119 a month covers teletransmission on web and mobile. CareCare at €120 a month suits a practice with locums or a biller, since they get free access. For rounds with no mobile signal, Albus keeps billing offline. Is there free nursing software in France?
Yes for organizing your work, not for getting paid. Ozzen Start is €0 a month but has no teletransmission, and CalendrIDEL offers a free toolbox. To bill the Assurance Maladie you need a paid plan, such as Ozzen Pro or CalendrIDEL Billing at €90 a month. How much does home nursing software cost per month in France?
Among the published prices, Vega EVE starts at €89 a month with the Carte Vitale reader included, Equinox starts at €89 including VAT, CalendrIDEL Billing is €90, Ozzen Pro €119 and CareCare Pro €120 for the practice owner. Albus quotes on request. Can I use US home health software as a nurse in France?
Not for billing. French nurses bill the Assurance Maladie through SESAM-Vitale teletransmission with a Carte Vitale and a CPS card, which agency platforms built for the US market do not handle. Patient data must also be hosted by an HDS-certified provider. What is HDS and does my software need it?
HDS is the French certification for hosting health data. Any software that stores your patients' records should use an HDS host. CareCare, Vega EVE, Equinox, Albus and Ozzen state theirs on their official pages.Which software works without mobile signal?
Albus says it was designed to keep working in dead zones, storing data locally and syncing when the connection returns. Ask any other vendor for an offline demo before you sign if your round crosses rural areas.Do these tools lock you into a long contract?
Ozzen, CareCare, Vega EVE and CalendrIDEL state no commitment on their sites. Fiducial Equinox's six free months apply only to its 24-month pack. Albus gives its terms on request, so ask for them in writing.Does the FAMI allowance pay for the software?
Not directly. The Assurance Maladie's FAMI pays about €490 a year if you meet the mandatory indicators, including software that is up to date with SESAM-Vitale. It covers part of the subscription but is paid separately, so compare prices before any aid.Which nursing software works on a Mac?
Tools that run in an app or a browser cause the fewest problems: Ozzen, CareCare, CalendrIDEL and Vega EVE work on computer and phone. Older installed software was long built for Windows. Test the demo on your Mac before you sign.Should I use the same software as my practice colleagues?
It is not required, but it is much simpler when you share patients: handovers and care files move without retyping. Equinox shares the patient file within the practice, and CareCare gives locums free access.
