What is the best affiliate software for SaaS in 2026?

Good SaaS affiliate software tracks every paid subscription, pays commission month after month, and claws it back when a customer churns.

You sell software on a subscription and you want other people to sell it for you: bloggers, consultants, agencies, or your own happy customers. That takes affiliate software that plugs into your billing system, knows who sent each customer, and pays a commission on every month they stay, not just the first invoice. That is the line between a tool built for SaaS and one built for an online store.

The short answer. Rewardful is the default pick for a Stripe-based SaaS: $49 a month, up to $7,500 in monthly affiliate revenue, no transaction fees. FirstPromoter is the most complete, with Paddle, Chargebee, Recurly and Braintree support and unlimited team seats. Tolt charges nothing on payouts and files 1099s on every plan, from $99. Cello solves a different problem: user-to-user referrals inside your product. Affonso is the cheapest way in, from €15 a month billed yearly. Dub Partners pays partners worldwide, for 5% of each payout.

What most "best of" lists skip: the sticker price is rarely what you pay. Most of these tools bump you to the next tier once affiliate revenue crosses a cap, and several take a cut of every commission you send. We worked out the real cost. Selling on Shopify too? Our general affiliate software ranking covers ecommerce.

6 SaaS affiliate tools side by side

Rewardful sits above FirstPromoter here despite a 0.1 lower score: for the typical US bootstrapped SaaS on Stripe it is the community default and gives the highest cap at $49. This ranking is for a subscription software company, from a solo founder to a growth team, that wants to pay recurring commission to affiliates or reward customers who refer other customers. Every ranked tool publishes its pricing. Shopify apps and ecommerce affiliate networks are left out on purpose; they live on our general ranking.

How we scored

How we compared and rated

This page is for teams selling subscription software. Their problem is not a checkout cart. A SaaS sale is revenue that recurs, upgrades, gets refunded or stops. The right tool reads those events from Stripe, Paddle or Chargebee and adjusts each commission without anyone touching a spreadsheet.

We read each vendor's official pricing page and integration docs, then the reviews on G2, Capterra and Trustpilot and founder threads on Indie Hackers. We compared the tools; we did not open accounts with them. Tools that also appear on our general ranking keep the exact same score here, because a tool has one score across the whole site.

The weights follow what hurts most when you pick wrong. Features carry the most, since switching tools means every affiliate rebuilds their links. Value comes next, payout fees included. Integrations follow: a tool that cannot read Paddle or Chargebee is out for a big share of SaaS companies.

Best for Stripe startups

Rewardful

4.2/5

Ask a room of bootstrapped founders which affiliate tool to use and Rewardful is the name you hear most. One Indie Hackers commenter put it plainly: most bootstrappers they know recommend Rewardful for SaaS affiliate programs. It connects to Stripe or Paddle, reads your subscriptions, and calculates recurring commission without a developer.

Starter costs $49 a month and covers up to $7,500 in monthly affiliate revenue, with one campaign and two team members. That is the highest cap at the $49 price point in this ranking (FirstPromoter stops at $5,000). Growth at $99 goes to $15,000 and adds a branded portal on your own domain. Enterprise starts at $149. Billed yearly: $490, $990 or $1,490. Affiliates are unlimited and Rewardful takes no transaction fee.

The catch is payouts. Out of the box, you export a CSV and pay affiliates yourself, and reviewers complain about it. Managed Payouts fixes that for 3% of every payout, and one-click PayPal payouts are Enterprise only. On $5,000 of monthly commissions, that 3% is another $150 a month.

Its limit: two seats and one campaign on Starter. The moment you want one program for customers and another for agency partners, you are on the $99 plan. Chargebee is not among its listed integrations, so check before you commit if that is your billing system. Support, on the other hand, gets praise in reviews, including on messy Stripe setups.

Tip: start the 14-day trial and run one real trial subscription through an affiliate link, then upgrade and refund it. You will see right away whether commissions follow plan changes the way you expect.

Standout features
  • Stripe and Paddle without code
  • Unlimited affiliates on every plan
  • 0% transaction fees
+Pros
  • ✓The founder community favorite
  • ✓$7,500 cap on the $49 plan
  • ✓Support praised in reviews
−Cons
  • ✗Manual payouts, or 3% for Managed Payouts
  • ✗Two seats on Starter
  • ✗Chargebee not among listed integrations
Verdict

The best place to start for a Stripe-based SaaS. If you will pay dozens of affiliates every month, Tolt sends payouts with no fee.

2
Most complete for SaaS

FirstPromoter

4.3/5

FirstPromoter has the deepest SaaS feature set in this ranking. It reads five billing systems: Stripe, Paddle, Chargebee, Recurly and Braintree. If you moved to Paddle to hand off sales tax, or you run on Chargebee, it is one of the few tools that tracks upgrades, refunds and cancellations there without workarounds.

Starter is $49 a month for up to $5,000 in monthly affiliate revenue and 1,000 affiliates. Business is $99 for $15,000 and unlimited affiliates. Enterprise is $149 beyond that, adding white label and SSO. Yearly: $490, $990 or $1,490. Every plan includes unlimited team seats, which matters when marketing, finance and support all need a login.

Payouts are broad: PayPal, Wise, Stripe, crypto or bank transfer, in 190 currencies, and FirstPromoter collects W-9 and W-8BEN forms. Business adds one-click PayPal payouts, self-billed invoices for EU VAT, and a dashboard you can embed inside your app so customers track referrals without leaving your product.

Its limit is the automatic upgrade. Cross $5,000 in affiliate revenue one good month and you are moved to Business, $50 more. Reviews also mention a learning curve. On the plus side, support is praised everywhere, with 4.6/5 on G2, and the team answers every review.

Tip: if you already automate your stack, our FirstPromoter Make integration page shows how to push each new affiliate into your CRM.

Standout features
  • Five billing systems supported
  • Embeddable affiliate dashboard on Business
  • W-9 and W-8BEN collection
+Pros
  • ✓Unlimited seats on every plan
  • ✓Payouts in 190 currencies
  • ✓Self-billed EU VAT invoices
−Cons
  • ✗Automatic upgrade past the cap
  • ✗1,000 affiliates max on Starter
  • ✗A learning curve mentioned in reviews
Verdict

The pick when you are not on Stripe alone or need serious payout coverage. For a simple Stripe program, Rewardful gives you a higher cap at the same $49.

No payout fees

Tolt

4.0/5

Tolt costs more upfront than Rewardful or FirstPromoter: $99 a month for Growth. Ignore the $69 figure still floating around some comparison posts; the official page shows $99. What you get for it is what others bill on top. Tolt takes no fee on payouts, and from Growth you can pay through PayPal, Wise, bank or wire.

Growth covers up to $20,000 in monthly partner revenue with 5 programs and a maximum of 5 team members. Pro at $199 goes to $50,000, lifts every limit, adds Stripe Radar fraud checks and removes the Tolt branding from your portal. Yearly billing gives two months free. Stripe, Paddle and Chargebee are all supported.

The most underrated feature for a US company: tax compliance. Tolt collects W-9 and W-8 forms and files 1099s on every plan, not just the expensive one. There is also a 30-day refund window.

Reviews are glowing (5.0/5 on Capterra), but the sample is small and some reviews appear on several country sites. One user found it better value than Rewardful and Tapfiliate. Its limit: $99 is steep for a SaaS starting with three affiliates.

The math that decides it: with a tool charging 3% on payouts, sending $5,000 in commissions costs another $150 a month. Past that volume, payout fees outweigh the difference in subscription price.

Standout features
  • Zero payout fees
  • W-9, W-8 and 1099 filing on every plan
  • Stripe, Paddle and Chargebee
+Pros
  • ✓Highest entry cap: $20,000
  • ✓Stripe Radar fraud checks on Pro
  • ✓30-day refund window
−Cons
  • ✗$99 entry, no small plan
  • ✗Yearly amounts not listed
  • ✗Few published reviews so far
Verdict

The best value once monthly commissions run into the thousands. For a first program on a small budget, Affonso or Rewardful cost less.

Best for in-app referrals

Cello

3.9/5

Cello does a different job. Rewardful and Tolt are mostly about paying outside affiliates: bloggers, creators, consultants. Cello is built first for referrals by your own users, inside your software. The referral experience lives in your product, and the price follows the revenue referrers bring in. That is the playbook of product-led growth.

User referrals start from $65 a month on Start, up to $10,000 in referred ARR (annual recurring revenue). Grow is $200 up to $50,000, Scale $750 up to $100,000, then Enterprise on quote. No fee is taken on rewards. One reviewer liked exactly that: pricing tied to results.

Cello also sells a partner and affiliate product, with different math: Free at $0 takes 5% of payouts, Plus at $80 and Pro at $280 take 3.5%, Enterprise 2%. Rewards go out through PayPal and Venmo, in multiple currencies. Cello reads Stripe and Chargebee and connects to HubSpot and Salesforce, with mobile SDKs.

Its limits: Paddle is not among its listed integrations, and the pricing page shows discounted amounts, so read the terms carefully; yearly plans lock you in for 12 months. It also needs some code to place the referral experience in your UI, unlike a plain affiliate link. Published reviews are still rare.

Tip: if your customers are teams, put the invite where they already share something (a report, a link, a dashboard). That is where recommendations happen naturally.

Standout features
  • Referrals inside your product
  • Pricing indexed on referred ARR
  • Free partner plan, 5% on payouts
+Pros
  • ✓Built for B2B SaaS
  • ✓No fees on user referral rewards
  • ✓HubSpot and Salesforce connected
−Cons
  • ✗Paddle not among listed integrations
  • ✗12-month commitment on yearly
  • ✗Needs some code in your app
Verdict

The right tool if your best salespeople are your users. To recruit bloggers and creators, an affiliate tool like Rewardful or Tolt fits better.

Cheapest way in

Affonso

3.8/5

Affonso is the budget pick, and the only vendor in this ranking that lists prices in euros (US buyers pay the euro amount). Launch is €15 a month billed yearly, or €19 monthly, for up to $1,000 in monthly partner revenue. Growth is €29 up to $10,000, Elite €79 up to $30,000, and Enterprise starts at €149. At $10,000 in affiliate revenue, you pay €29 where Rewardful asks $99.

The rare part at this price: an affiliate marketplace on every plan. Your program shows up in a directory where affiliates look for software to promote. At Dub or Reditus, that kind of exposure sits on the top tiers.

On billing, Affonso reads Stripe, Paddle Billing, Polar, Creem and Dodo Payments. Chargebee is not listed. Payouts go through PayPal, Wise or bulk bank transfer; managed payouts arrive on Growth, and the vendor notes that fees may apply.

Its limit is paperwork. Partner invoices and W-8/W-9 collection are Elite only, at €79. If you pay US affiliates or your accountant wants an invoice per commission, the entry price no longer holds. The tool is young too: few reviews, and some directories quote a $49 price that does not match the official grid.

Tip: start on Launch at €19 monthly. Switch to yearly only once your first affiliates have brought in their first customers.

Standout features
  • From €15 a month
  • Affiliate marketplace on every plan
  • Polar, Creem and Dodo Payments on top of Stripe
+Pros
  • ✓Cheapest at $10,000 affiliate revenue
  • ✓Paddle Billing supported
  • ✓14-day trial
−Cons
  • ✗Invoices and W-8/W-9 on Elite only
  • ✗Low Launch cap: $1,000
  • ✗Few published reviews
Verdict

The best value for a first program. Once you need clean tax paperwork for US affiliates, Tolt or FirstPromoter earn their price.

Links and partners together

Dub Partners

3.6/5

Dub is known for short links and click analytics. Dub Partners adds a partner program on top: Dub automates commission payouts worldwide, tax compliance included. For an engineering-led team, the API, SDKs and webhooks are a real plus.

Business costs $81 a month billed yearly (that price includes the 10% annual discount), for partner payouts up to $30,000 a year. Advanced is $270 a month, up to $180,000 a year. Note that these caps are yearly, not monthly like everyone else's. On both plans Dub takes 5% of each payout. Enterprise, on quote, drops that to 3%.

Run the numbers first. At $2,500 in monthly commissions, you hit the Business yearly cap, and the 5% adds $125 a month on top of the plan. At that volume Tolt takes nothing on payouts. The partner network and marketplace are Enterprise only.

Its main limit for a SaaS: the pricing page names neither Stripe, Paddle nor Chargebee. Check in the docs how Dub reads your subscriptions and refunds before migrating an existing program. It is the least SaaS-specific tool here, ranked for its strength on tracking and global payouts.

Tip: if you automate campaigns, our Dub Make integration page shows how to create partner links on the fly.

Standout features
  • Short links and affiliate program in one
  • Global payouts with tax compliance
  • API, SDKs and webhooks
+Pros
  • ✓Natural fit if you already use Dub
  • ✓Automated payouts everywhere
  • ✓Fee drops to 3% on Enterprise
−Cons
  • ✗5% on every payout
  • ✗Yearly caps reached fast
  • ✗SaaS billing not named on the pricing page
Verdict

Worth it if your partners are everywhere and your team already lives in Dub. For a classic Stripe SaaS program, Rewardful or Tolt cost less at the same volume.

Real cost

What SaaS affiliate software really costs each month

Subscription, affiliate revenue cap and payout fees: here is what you actually pay, at official prices before tax. Affiliate revenue means the sales your affiliates bring in, not the commissions you pay them.

At $5,000 monthly affiliate revenue

Affonso: €29 on Growth. Rewardful: $49. FirstPromoter: $49, right at the Starter cap. Tolt: $99. At a 25% commission you pay out about $1,250 a month, so Rewardful's Managed Payouts adds roughly $38. The spread between cheapest and priciest is about three to one.

At $15,000 monthly affiliate revenue

Rewardful: $99 on Growth. FirstPromoter: $99 on Business. Tolt: $99 on Growth, with free payouts. Affonso: €79 on Elite. Paying out $3,750 a month at Dub means $187.50 in fees, and you blow through the Business yearly cap. Affonso stays cheapest if you pay affiliates yourself; Tolt is cheapest among tools that pay them for you at no fee.

The cap trap

Rewardful and FirstPromoter move you up a tier when affiliate revenue crosses the cap. One great month, a Black Friday promo, one affiliate who takes off: your bill doubles. One high-ticket SaaS reported outgrowing PromoteKit's tier with just two referrers. Size your tool for the revenue you expect in 12 months.

  • Your billing system (Stripe, Paddle, Chargebee) is on the integration list
  • Commission is reversed on refunds and cancellations
  • Payout fees are in your math
  • Affiliate invoices and tax forms are on your plan
  • The affiliate revenue cap holds for 12 months

Other options worth knowing

These tools come up a lot in searches. They are not ranked because they target another use case, hide their pricing, or cost too much for most SaaS companies. Here is when they make sense.

01

PromoteKit: cheap, Stripe only

Stripe only

PromoteKit has a free plan (3 referrals, one campaign), then Pro at $29 a month up to $10,000 in affiliate revenue, 25% off yearly. No transaction fee, but global one-click payouts cost 5% by bank or 8% by card. It only works with Stripe, and high-ticket SaaS hit its cap quickly.

Reditus: a B2B affiliate marketplace

Marketplace

Reditus targets B2B SaaS with caps in ARR (up to $60,000 on Growth, $360,000 on Scale Up). It reads Stripe (coupons included), Paddle and Chargebee, and migration is free. The marketplace comes with Scale Up, billed yearly only. Automated payouts add 5% by card or 2% by invoice.

PartnerStack: for large partner programs

On quote

PartnerStack publishes no prices: three plans after a demo. It brings a large partner network and suits established SaaS running resellers, agencies and affiliates together. G2 reviewers call it expensive for small teams and mention late commission payments on the partner side. Automating it? See PartnerStack on Zapier.

GrowSurf: consumer referral programs

Referral

GrowSurf runs invite-a-friend referral programs, mostly for consumer products. Referral plans cost $449 to $879 a month depending on participants. Its affiliate product is $0 a month plus 3% of referred revenue collected. For B2B SaaS, Cello fits better.

ReferralHero: waitlists and launches

Launch

ReferralHero shines on viral waitlists before a launch. Basic is $249 a month but does not connect to Stripe; you need Pro at $399. Reward payouts cost another 2.5% to 6% plus $0.50 each. Expensive for a long-running affiliate program.

impact.com: the enterprise route

Enterprise

impact.com's Starter plan ($30 a month plus 2.5%) is built for ecommerce platforms. Above it, Essentials costs $500 a month and Pro $2,500, both on a 12-month contract. It makes sense for a large brand with a dedicated partnerships team. It is on our general ranking.

Launch your SaaS affiliate program without nasty surprises

Settings pulled from reviews and official docs that change your bill or the quality of your affiliates.

01

Pick by billing system first

Integration

Everything else can be worked around; this cannot. Stripe only: every ranked tool works. Paddle: Rewardful, FirstPromoter, Tolt or Affonso. Chargebee: FirstPromoter, Tolt or Cello. Thinking about leaving Stripe? Read our Stripe alternatives page first, then pick the affiliate tool.

02

Claw back commission on churn

Commission

An affiliate can send customers who refund after ten days. Set a holding period before payout (30 days, for example) and confirm the tool reverses commission on refunds and cancellations. Without it, you pay commission on revenue you never kept.

Holding period
30 days, for example
03

Price payout fees at your volume

Price

At $10,000 in monthly commissions, a 5% fee is $500 a month. That is more than the entry plan of every ranked tool. Tolt charges zero, Rewardful's Managed Payouts 3%, Dub 5%. Always run the math on the commissions you expect.

Up to $500 in fees
04

Cap the duration, not the rate

Commission

Most SaaS programs pay 20 to 30% recurring, sometimes up to 40%. Cap the duration (12 months, for example) rather than cutting the rate: a strong rate attracts the good affiliates, and the duration protects your margin on long-lived customers.

Benchmark
20 to 30% recurring
05

Split affiliates and referrers

Strategy

A blogger comparing tools and a customer inviting a coworker do not want the same reward. The first wants cash, the second often a free month. Tolt and FirstPromoter run several programs; Cello specializes in the second. Do not put everyone in one campaign.

FAQ

Your questions about SaaS affiliate software

  • What is the difference between affiliate and referral software for SaaS?

Affiliate software pays outsiders (bloggers, consultants, agencies) who promote your product. Referral software rewards your own customers for bringing in other customers. Both track a link, but rewards differ: cash for affiliates, often credit or a free month for referrers.

  • What commission should a SaaS affiliate program pay?

20 to 30% recurring is the market benchmark, sometimes up to 40%. A simple rule: stay under half your gross margin. Cap the duration (12 or 24 months) rather than the rate, and keep a cookie of at least 30 days, ideally 90, because B2B buyers take time.

  • How much does affiliate software for SaaS cost?

From €15 to $199 a month for most vendors. Affonso starts at €15 billed yearly, Rewardful and FirstPromoter at $49, Tolt at $99. Add payout fees: 3% for Rewardful's optional Managed Payouts, 5% at Dub, nothing at Tolt.

  • Is there free affiliate software for SaaS?

Yes, with limits. PromoteKit is free up to 3 referrals, Stripe only. Cello's partner plan is $0 but takes 5% of payouts. GrowSurf's affiliate product is $0 a month plus 3% of referred revenue. Free usually means you pay a percentage instead.

  • Which affiliate software works with Paddle?

Rewardful, FirstPromoter, Tolt and Affonso (Paddle Billing) read Paddle, and so does Reditus. Cello and Dub do not list it. Paddle collects sales tax for you, so make sure commission is calculated on the pre-tax amount during your trial.

  • Do I need to send 1099s to my affiliates?

It depends on where you and your affiliates are based, so check with your accountant. Tolt collects W-9/W-8 forms and files 1099s on every plan. FirstPromoter collects W-9 and W-8BEN. Affonso keeps tax forms on Elite.

  • How do I prevent affiliate fraud in a SaaS program?

Hold payouts for 30 days, reverse commission on every refund, and ban affiliates from bidding on your brand name in ads. Tolt Pro adds Stripe Radar fraud checks. Also watch for affiliates signing up through their own link.

  • Do I need an affiliate marketplace?

It helps early, when nobody knows your program. Affonso includes one on every plan, Reditus on Scale Up, Dub on Enterprise only. But the best SaaS affiliates often come from your own customers and partners you reach out to yourself.
