Foreplay.co alternatives: where to move your ad swipe file
Six paid tools, one free route, and a seven-step plan to bring your boards with you.
The short answer: Swipekit if you're a team that wants the same job for less (5 seats from $26 a month), GetHookd if you work alone ($19 a month billed yearly), Atria if you want a free plan that doesn't expire, TrendTrack if you sell online, Panoramata to watch competitors beyond ads, and Motion if what you need is analytics on your own creatives. One thing to know before you leave: Foreplay exports your boards as ZIP files of images and videos, without your tags. We compared seven destinations and read their pricing pages for 2026.
The ranking is editorial: a sponsored spot is always flagged on its card, and no affiliate link changes a score.
Why people leave Foreplay, even when they like it
Foreplay (foreplay.co, not to be confused with anything else) is a well-liked ad swipe file: save ads from Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn or YouTube, sort them into boards, write briefs. People rarely leave because it's bad. They leave over the price of the features around it, and a few billing rules. Six reasons, all checked for 2026.
Competitor tracking costs triple
Basic ($49 to $59 a month) gives you the swipe file, Discovery and Briefs. Spyder, the tool that follows competitors, and Lens, which reads your own ads, start at Workflow: $149 to $175 a month. For a solo buyer who only wants to watch ten brands, that jump is the whole reason to look elsewhere.
You pay per seat as the team grows
Workflow includes 5 users and Agency 10. Each extra user costs $20 a month. Price is the complaint that comes back most often in public reviews, mostly from occasional users.
It stores ads, it doesn't judge them
Foreplay shows you what other brands run, not how well it performs. It's a filing system with a great search, not an analytics tool. If you wanted to know which competitor ads actually make money, you'll need another tool or your own judgment.
Thin on product research and Google
Ecommerce users note there's no product research, and the tool is built for creative teams rather than sellers. Google Transparency Center saving is still listed as coming soon in the extension.
An extension that sometimes stalls
Reviewers describe short errors, and one practitioner calls the platform "a bit glitchy" while praising a responsive team. The official help page points to ad blockers as a frequent cause. Small thing, but daily.
A trial that bills you, a yearly plan you can't undo
The 7-day trial needs a card and charges automatically. The yearly plan is not refunded and not prorated if you cancel. A few reviews also mention a double charge and slow answers from support. Read the billing terms before you pick yearly.

Usually one line describes you. Each card jumps to the full write-up below.

Foreplay alternatives, tool by tool
For each tool: why switch to it, who it's for, its catch, how to move your swipe file, and what it costs. Motion and the free libraries come last, out of the ranking: one does a different job, the other is free. We left out MagicBrief, which is shutting down, and tools whose prices we couldn't read on an official page. Prices are the ones shown in 2026, in US dollars.
The tools
Swipekit: the direct replacement, seats included
Best for teamsWhy switch to Swipekit. It does the core Foreplay job (save ads, sort them into boards, share them, write briefs) at a fraction of the price once you count seats. Basic costs $26 a month and already includes 5 seats and 5 tracked brands. On Foreplay, a team of five needs Workflow at $149 to $175 a month. Same team, roughly a sixth of the bill.
Who it's for. Small creative teams and agencies that mostly need a shared swipe file and some competitor tracking, without a five-figure tooling budget.
Who it's not for. A team whose daily work starts in a giant search library. Foreplay says its Discovery library is far bigger, and Swipekit doesn't publish a count. Use the trial to check that the brands and niches you watch actually show up.
The catch. Tracked brands and AI scripts are capped by plan: 5 brands and 150 scripts on Basic, 10 and 400 on Plus ($46), 15 and 1,000 on Agency ($66). If you follow 30 competitors, even Agency (15 brands) won't cover them.
How to migrate. There is no Foreplay import. Export your Foreplay boards as ZIP files first (your archive), then rebuild your best boards in Swipekit by saving the ads again from the Meta Ad Library with its extension. You get live ads with their data, not orphan MP4 files. The 14-day trial asks for no card, so you can run both tools side by side before you cancel anything.
- Trial
- 14 days, no card
- Paid
- from $26/mo, 5 seats
- Best for
- teams of 3 to 15
- Catch
- brand tracking capped
GetHookd: the cheapest seat for a solo media buyer
Cheapest soloWhy switch to GetHookd. If you work alone, it's the lowest entry price we found: Starter costs $29 a month, or $19 billed yearly, against $49 to $59 for Foreplay Basic. Saving ads and building boards are on every plan, and searching the library doesn't burn credits.
Who it's for. Freelance media buyers and small brands that want a searchable library plus a place to store ads, and nothing heavier.
Who it's not for. Anyone who plans to lean on the AI features. Those run on credits: 50 a month on Starter, 150 on Pro ($49, or $32 yearly), 400 on Team ($79, or $52 yearly), 800 on Agency ($129, or $83 yearly).
The catch. Credits are the meter. "Clone Ads" starts at Pro, the AI agent starts at Team, and the API and MCP come with any yearly plan but only Team and Agency on monthly billing. Read the plan grid against what you really use, not against the headline price.
How to migrate. No Foreplay import here either. The free Chrome extension saves from the Meta Ad Library, which is where most swipe files are built anyway. Use the 7-day trial at $0 to rebuild your two or three most-used boards, then decide.
- Trial
- 7 days at $0
- Paid
- $29/mo, $19 yearly
- Best for
- solo buyers
- Catch
- AI runs on credits
Atria: when you want research and creation in one place
Free planWhy switch to Atria. Foreplay is strongest at the back of the process: storing ads, writing the brief, handing it to a designer. Atria pushes further upstream into research and ideas, and it adds analysis of your own ad accounts. It's also the only tool here with a free plan that never expires and asks for no card.
Who it's for. Brands and agencies spending seriously on Meta and TikTok that want one tool from inspiration to creative analysis.
Who it's not for. A freelancer who only needs a swipe file. The free plan covers 1 ad account, 1 brand and a one-time pack of 30 MCP calls and 30 API calls: fine to look around, too tight to work in.
The catch. Price climbs with the ad spend Atria analyzes. Core costs $129 a month yearly or $219 monthly (5 users, 5 ad accounts, up to $500,000 of spend analyzed a month, 50 tracked brands). Plus is $343 yearly or $549 monthly, Business $959 or $1,549. Extra seats cost $20. We rate Atria 2.9 out of 5 in our full Atria review, mostly on value for money.
How to migrate. No documented Foreplay import. Start on the free plan, save a handful of ads with the Chrome extension, and rebuild your board structure with its multi-level boards and tags. Our Atria pricing page breaks down when Core stops being enough.

- Best for
- heavy Meta and TikTok spend

TrendTrack: ads, stores and emails for ecommerce
EcommerceWhy switch to TrendTrack. Foreplay is built for creative teams, not for sellers hunting products. TrendTrack covers both: ad libraries from Meta, TikTok and Google on every plan, folders that hold ads, emails and stores, and a free Chrome extension. If your swipe file is really a product research file, this fits better.
Who it's for. Ecommerce and dropshipping brands that watch competitor stores as much as competitor ads.
Who it's not for. A creative strategist who lives in briefs. And anyone who needs more than a few searches: Starter allows 5 searches a week and 2 tracked brands.
The catch. The prices on the page are yearly billing: Starter from $34 a month, Pro $62 (30 searches a week, 10 brands), Business $111 (unlimited searches, 20 brands, 3 seats, then $29 per extra seat). Quarterly billing saves 15% and yearly 30%, so paying month to month costs more than those figures.
How to migrate. Rebuild your folders by theme (ads, stores, emails) instead of copying Foreplay boards one for one. Save winning ads again from the libraries so they stay searchable inside TrendTrack.
- Trial
- free start offered
- Paid
- from $34/mo yearly
- Best for
- ecommerce, dropshipping
- Catch
- 5 searches a week on Starter
Panoramata: competitor watch beyond ads
Competitor watchWhy switch to Panoramata. If you left Foreplay because Spyder only shows you ads, Panoramata widens the lens. From Professional up it tracks competitors' emails, ads, SMS and landing pages, with unlimited competitors and history.
Who it's for. Brand marketers and agencies whose job is to know what competitors send, on every channel, not just to collect ad inspiration.
Who it's not for. Someone who wants a cheap swipe file. There's no free plan, and the entry price is double Foreplay Basic.
The catch. Startup costs $99 a month for 20 competitors, 6 months of history, 3 users and CSV export. Professional is $179 (10 users), Advanced $399 (20 users, bulk creative export). Yearly billing gives two months free: $990, $1,790 or $3,990 a year. Monthly plans carry no commitment.
How to migrate. Don't migrate your swipe file here. Move your list of tracked brands instead: the Spyder brands you follow in Foreplay become your Panoramata competitors. You can sign up without a card and get limited access to check coverage first.
- Free
- limited access, no card
- Paid
- from $99/mo
- Best for
- multichannel watch
- Catch
- no real free plan
Motion: if you're leaving for real creative analytics
Out of rankingWhy switch to Motion. Foreplay's Lens reads your own Meta and TikTok ads, but Motion is built around that job: creative analysis and reporting across your accounts, with inspiration and benchmarks on the side. It answers "which of my ads works, and why", which a swipe file never will.
Who it's for. Brands and agencies with real spend that need reporting the whole team can read.
Who it's not for. Anyone shopping for a cheaper Foreplay. Motion isn't a swipe file first.
The catch. Starter costs $999 a month and covers up to $50,000 of monthly ad spend, with unlimited seats and ad accounts. Above that, Pro (over $50,000) and Growth (over $125,000) are quoted. A free trial is offered, but its length isn't shown on the pricing page.
How to migrate. Keep a light swipe file next to it (Swipekit or GetHookd), and plug your ad accounts into Motion. Many teams end up with that pair rather than one tool.
- Trial
- offered, length not shown
- Paid
- $999/mo up to $50k spend
- Best for
- creative analytics
- Catch
- not a swipe file
Meta Ad Library and TikTok Creative Center: the free route
Out of rankingWhy switch to them. They cost nothing and need no account. The Meta Ad Library lets you search any advertiser or keyword and filter by country and platform. On TikTok, Top Ads and the Creative Center show ads that run in the US. Every paid tool on this page draws from these same sources.
Who it's for. Founders and freelancers who check competitors once a week and can live with screenshots.
Who it's not for. A team. Nothing gets saved: nothing you see is kept for you.
The catch. No saving, no bulk export, and no performance data on commercial ads. In the EU you do see reach and spend ranges, not elsewhere.
How to migrate. Keep a simple sheet with the ad link, the brand, the format (UGC, demo, problem and solution) and the date you spotted it. Field tip: an ad still running after more than 30 days is a decent sign it pays for itself, so filter for those first.

Foreplay and its alternatives side by side
Our default pick: Swipekit for a team, GetHookd if you work alone. For scale, take a team of five that tracks competitors: Foreplay Workflow runs $149 to $175 a month, Swipekit Basic $26, GetHookd Team $52 to $79, and Atria Core $129 to $219. One row per tool: how you can try it on the left, the first paid plan on the right.

Move off Foreplay in seven steps
Order matters. Each step protects something: your archive, your money, your team's habits.
The steps
List what you actually use in Foreplay
Day 1Write down your boards, your tags, the brands you follow in Spyder, the Lens brands, your brief templates, and who on the team has a seat. One line per item, with its target in the new tool.
Why bother? Most teams use a third of what they pay for. This list also tells you which plan you need on the other side: 4 tracked brands and 3 people fit a $26 Swipekit plan, 40 brands do not.
- Time
- about an hour
- Output
- a migration sheet
Check your billing date before anything else
Day 1Monthly plans cancel at any time. Yearly plans are not refunded and not prorated if you cancel. If you're on yearly, plan the switch for the end of your term and use the months left to run both tools.
The 14-day money-back guarantee only applies after the first charge, so it won't save you on a renewal you forgot.
- Monthly
- cancel anytime
- Yearly
- no refund
Download every board as a ZIP
Before cancelingIn Foreplay, open a board, click the three dots, then Bulk Download and Download Board. You get a ZIP with the images and videos, one subfolder per ad that has variants.
What doesn't come with it: no CSV of tags, notes or metadata is documented. Copy your tag names and your board notes into your migration sheet by hand. Do this while your subscription is active: nothing official says what you can still reach after canceling.
- Format
- ZIP per board
- Not included
- tags, notes
Rebuild boards and tags before you save anything
Day 2Create your boards and your tag system in the new tool first: by format (UGC, demo, testimonial), by angle (problem and solution, offer, social proof), by industry. One practitioner's setup we liked: shared boards embedded in Notion, so the briefs and the ads live in the same doc.
Fix the names now. A messy taxonomy copied over stays messy.
- Tip
- tags by format and angle
Save your best ads again from the source
Day 2 to 5Don't bulk-upload the MP4 files from your ZIP. Foreplay itself gives no transcript for ads uploaded by hand, and most tools treat manual uploads as plain files. Find your top ads again in the Meta Ad Library or TikTok Top Ads and save them with the new tool's extension: you keep the link, the status and the text.
Keep the ZIP as your archive for ads that are no longer live.
- Keep
- live ads re-saved
- Archive
- dead ads in the ZIP
Move your competitor tracking
Week 1Add your Spyder brands to the new tool's tracker, starting with the ones that matter. Check the plan cap: 5 brands on Swipekit Basic, 2 on TrendTrack Starter, 50 on Atria Core, 20 competitors on Panoramata Startup.
Let the tracker run a week before you judge it. Coverage builds up over time.
- Check
- brand cap per plan
Run both tools for a week, then cancel
Week 2Ask the team to save only in the new tool for a week. Turn off the old Chrome extension so nobody saves in the wrong place. If nothing is missing at the end, cancel Foreplay, with your ZIPs stored on your own drive.
- Overlap
- one week
- Then
- cancel Foreplay

What makes a Foreplay switch go wrong
None of these is technical. They're oversights, and each costs more than the ten minutes it takes to avoid it.
Canceling before you export
Download every board as a ZIP while your plan is active. Foreplay doesn't say what stays reachable after you cancel, so assume nothing does. Copy tags and notes by hand: the ZIP only holds the files.
Paying yearly on the first day
A yearly Foreplay plan isn't refunded, and yearly discounts here run from about 15% to 50%. Start the new tool on monthly, live with it for a month, then commit.
Bulk-uploading dead files
Uploading hundreds of MP4s gives you a folder, not a swipe file: no link, no live status, and at Foreplay no transcript. Re-save the ads that matter from the source, archive the rest.
Ignoring the brand cap
The plan grid hides the real limit. Count the competitors you follow today, then compare: 2 on TrendTrack Starter, 5 on Swipekit Basic, 50 on Atria Core. A cheap plan that tracks too few brands sends you two tiers up.
Leaving two extensions on
If the old and new Chrome extensions both run, half the team keeps saving in Foreplay. Remove the old one on switch day. And before installing any free swipe file extension, read the permissions it asks for: some have been pulled from the store.
Choosing on library size alone
Every vendor claims the biggest library, and none of them can be checked. What matters is whether your niche and your competitors are covered. Search them during the trial. For a wider view of the market, see our best ad creative tools ranking, with versions for media buyers, agencies, ecommerce and dropshipping. Leaving Atria instead? Read our Atria alternatives.
Foreplay.co alternatives: frequently asked questions
Does Foreplay have a free plan?
No. There's a 7-day trial, but it asks for a card and charges you automatically at the end if you don't cancel. Basic then costs $59 a month, or $49 a month billed yearly. If you want free, Atria has a free plan with no expiry, and the Meta Ad Library costs nothing at all.
How much does Foreplay cost in 2026?
Basic is $59 a month or $49 yearly for 1 user. Workflow is $175 or $149 yearly for 5 users, with Spyder and Lens. Agency is $459 or $389 yearly for 10 users. Enterprise is quoted. Extra users cost $20 and extra Lens brands $50.
Is Foreplay worth it?
For a creative team that briefs designers every week, often yes: saving, boards and briefs are its strong suit. It's harder to justify if you work alone and want competitor tracking, since Spyder starts at Workflow. Then GetHookd or Swipekit cost far less.
What's the difference between Foreplay and Motion?
Foreplay collects other brands' ads to inspire your next creative. Motion analyzes your own ads to tell you what works, from $999 a month. Different jobs, so plenty of teams keep a cheap swipe file next to Motion.
Is MagicBrief still available?
No. MagicBrief announced it shuts down in 2026, and its team joined Canva. If you were on it, the closest swaps are Swipekit or GetHookd for the swipe file and Atria if you also used the analysis side. We left it out of the ranking for that reason.
Do my saved ads stay if the advertiser deletes them?
Yes. Foreplay says saved ads stay in your account even after they're taken down. That's the real value over the Meta Ad Library, where nothing you see is kept for you. It says nothing on what you can reach once you cancel, so download your boards first.
Why won't the Foreplay Chrome extension save ads?
The usual fix is to check that you're logged in, turn off your ad blocker, then hard-refresh the page (Cmd+Shift+R). The extension also needs an active plan or trial. Note that its TikTok Ad Library saving works on EU ads only; for US TikTok ads use Top Ads.
Can I import my Foreplay swipe file into another tool?
Not directly: none of the tools we compared lists a Foreplay import. You can upload the files from your ZIP, but you lose the link and the text. Re-saving your best ads from the source library is cleaner.
