Sharetribe alternatives: where to take your marketplace, and how to move it
Five destinations, one for each reason to leave, and an eight-step migration plan.
The short answer: Kreezalid if you want another hosted no-code builder with a lower entry price, CS-Cart Multi-Vendor if you sell physical products and have a developer, Dokan if you already run WordPress, Webkul MultiVendor if your store is on Shopify, and Yo!Kart if you'd rather pay once than every month. Sharetribe is still a solid way to validate an idea. Founders leave once the bill, the custom code or the payment limits start to weigh more than the speed. Before you pick, know this: no tool imports your Sharetribe passwords or your Stripe seller accounts for you. We compared the five destinations on their official pricing pages in 2026.
Rankings are editorial: a sponsored placement is always labeled on its card, and no affiliate link changes a score.
Why founders outgrow Sharetribe, and what it does well
Sharetribe is a fast way to launch a rental, services or product marketplace without hiring developers, and real humans answer its support. People leave later, once the marketplace works: over the fixed monthly cost, the price of custom code, and a payment setup tied to Stripe. Six reasons, each checked against Sharetribe's own pages or founders' public feedback.
Taking real payments costs $199 a month or more
Build, at $39 a month, only runs in test mode: API access in test, test users, test listings. The day your first buyer pays, you need Live, at $199 a month billed yearly or $259 month to month. That's $2,388 a year before Stripe takes its own 1.5 to 3% per transaction. For a marketplace still finding its first hundred sales, that fixed cost hurts.
The no-code ceiling arrives fast
Sharetribe's own help center is candid: simple code changes can cost "only a few hundred dollars", complex projects "could cost tens of thousands". Custom code also needs its own hosting (about $39 a month on the setup Sharetribe documents) and a Live plan to publish. One founder summed it up as a platform "not attractive without custom code which is $380 a month". Another wrote that its limits "aren't obvious until you've already invested a lot of time".
Payments stop at Stripe
In the standard setup, payments go through Stripe only, and sellers can receive payouts only with a bank account in one of 36 supported countries. PayPal isn't available for most new marketplaces. If your sellers live elsewhere, you're back to custom development. One operator says they lost around 25% of a payment to currency conversion and fees, and got little help on it.
Usage credits replaced per-transaction fees
In 2026 Sharetribe merged its Lite, Pro and Extend plans into a single Live plan and dropped per-transaction fees. You get 1 million usage credits a month, then pay 7 cents down to half a cent per 1,000 extra credits. Heavy users can commit to 10M credits for $249 a month, 50M for $499 or 200M for $999, but those 12-month commitments can't be canceled or downgraded during the term.
The price list keeps moving
Build went from $29 to $39 in 2024, and the monthly Pro price rose from $249 to $259 in 2025. To be fair, the 2026 overhaul also cut the old Extend tier from $389 to $259. The point isn't that Sharetribe is greedy. It's that you rent the platform, and the landlord sets the rent.
You never own the code or the server
Sharetribe is hosted software. That's its strength on day one, and the reason teams look at licenses later: with CS-Cart or Yo!Kart you pay once and keep the code, with Dokan you run everything on your own WordPress. Sharetribe itself admits a license "may be more affordable in the long run" for a mall-style product marketplace.
You're leaving because… go to…
The right Sharetribe alternative depends on what's pushing you out. One line usually fits. Each card jumps to the full write-up below.

Sharetribe alternatives, one by one
For each platform: why move to it, who it's for, who it isn't for, its main limit, how to migrate from Sharetribe, and what it costs. Prices are the ones each vendor publishes in 2026, in its own currency.
The platforms
Kreezalid: the closest hosted swap, priced in euros
Closest no-code swapWhy switch to Kreezalid. It works the way Sharetribe does: you configure the marketplace from an interface, the vendor hosts it, and you set your own commission on every sale and keep it, since Kreezalid takes nothing on your transactions. The gap is at the moment you go live. Where Sharetribe jumps from $39 to $199 a month, Kreezalid's Launch plan costs €129 a month for up to 100 sellers, 2,000 listings, 250 transactions a month and one custom domain. Templates cover services, rentals, products and directories, and there's an API when you need it.
Who it's for. A small marketplace, often European, that wants to keep the no-code comfort without the Live price tag.
Who it isn't for. A busy marketplace. Plans cap transactions per month, so volume pushes you up the ladder fast.
Its limit. Past 250 transactions a month you move to Grow at €299 (unlimited sellers and listings, 5,000 transactions), then Extend at €599 (20,000 transactions, 2 million API calls). At that point the saving over Sharetribe Live is gone. Prices exclude VAT.
How to migrate. Start on Build (€39 a month, private, up to 10 sellers and 250 listings), which you can open without a card and cancel anytime. Load your Sharetribe sellers and listings there, have each seller connect a payment account, then switch your domain once a handful of real orders go through. If you need to pause later, Archive keeps the site for €19 a month, the equivalent of Sharetribe's Hold.

CS-Cart Multi-Vendor: own the code of a product marketplace
Best for physical goodsWhy switch to CS-Cart. You stop renting. CS-Cart Multi-Vendor is self-hosted software sold as a license, with no transaction fee and no cap on products or users. Even Sharetribe concedes it suits mall-style product marketplaces best. Standard costs $725 a year, roughly $61 a month billed yearly, and includes one month of hosting with a CDN. Plus is $1,449 a year or $3,590 once; Ultimate is $3,599 a year or $7,990 once.
Who it's for. A marketplace selling physical goods, with an in-house developer or an agency on call.
Who it isn't for. A solo founder with no technical help. Servers, security patches and upgrades become your job.
Its limit. The headline price isn't the full cost. Add hosting after the free month, developer time, and support renewals. Get the support terms in writing before you buy.
How to migrate. Export sellers, listings and customers from Sharetribe, map them to CS-Cart's vendor and product fields, and rebuild your commission rules in the admin. Our math: the Plus one-time license ($3,590) equals about 18 months of Sharetribe Live billed yearly, so the license pays off from year two if your running costs stay low.

Dokan: turn a WordPress site into the marketplace
Cheapest to startWhy switch to Dokan. It's the move founders actually make: one freelance brief we read asked to move a Sharetribe marketplace to WordPress, WooCommerce and Dokan, with local shipping carriers added. It drew 28 offers, an average quote around €1,900 and an estimated 13 days of work. Dokan Lite is a free plugin with more than 30,000 active installs. Paid plans are yearly: Starter $149 (1 site), Professional $249 (3 sites), Business $499 (5 sites), Enterprise $999 (20 sites), all excluding VAT.
Who it's for. A team already on WordPress, or one that wants full control on a small budget and has someone to run hosting.
Who it isn't for. Anyone who wants zero maintenance. Hosting, backups and plugin conflicts are on you.
Its limit. The features you came for sit on higher tiers. Automatic seller payouts through Stripe Connect start at Professional, and PayPal Marketplace and bookings start at Business ($499 a year). A rental marketplace leaving Sharetribe should budget for Business from day one. In the WordPress directory, Lite holds 4.6 out of 5 on 769 reviews, 63 of them one-star.
How to migrate. Install WooCommerce and Dokan Lite on a staging site, import sellers as vendor accounts and listings as products, then add the paid tier that carries your payment method. Our WooCommerce switching guide covers the other side of that stack.

Webkul MultiVendor: a marketplace on top of Shopify
Best for Shopify storesWhy switch to Webkul. Shopify has no native multi-vendor mode, and this app fills the gap: outside sellers get their own dashboard inside your Shopify store, and the app takes 0% of transactions. Plans are Starter $30 a month ($324 a year), Growth $60 ($648), Max $100 ($1,080) and Ultra $500 ($4,800), with a 15-day free trial. It holds 4.7 out of 5 on 364 reviews in the Shopify App Store.
Who it's for. A product marketplace that wants Shopify's checkout, themes and app ecosystem, or a brand already on Shopify opening up to other vendors.
Who it isn't for. A service or rental marketplace. Shopify is built around products and carts, not bookings between two sides.
Its limit. Two bills. The Shopify plan comes on top: Basic is $39 a month, or $29 billed yearly. Starter plus Basic month to month is $69, still well below Sharetribe Live, but advanced needs push you up Webkul's tiers.
How to migrate. Import listings as Shopify products, invite sellers into the app, then point your domain at Shopify. Our Shopify switching guide covers the platform's own limits.

Yo!Kart: pay once, keep the marketplace
No subscriptionWhy switch to Yo!Kart. It's the opposite of Sharetribe's model. You buy a self-hosted marketplace on a lifetime license, and both recurring fees and transaction fees are zero. GoQuick costs $1,999 once, GoQuick Boost $3,999 (adds buyer apps for Android and iOS, without their source code), GoQuick Pro $4,999 and GoCustom $6,249. Ultra and GoCustom Prime are on quote. Every package includes 12 months of technical support.
Who it's for. A validated marketplace with upfront budget that wants to stop paying monthly and may want mobile apps.
Who it isn't for. A project still testing demand. A four-figure payment before you know the market is a lot.
Its limit. After year one, support, hosting and security are your cost. Custom work is billed $18 an hour, or $25 an hour if you want exclusive rights to the code written for you.
How to migrate. Our math: GoQuick's $1,999 equals about ten months of Sharetribe Live billed yearly. Hand Yo!Kart's team your exported sellers and listings during setup, and keep in mind the 30-day refund on GoQuick and Pro deducts 4% plus $15 per hour of work done.

Also on the list: Arcadier, Mercur and Mirakl
Not rankedThree names come up in every Sharetribe alternatives list. We didn't rank them, and here's why.
Arcadier is the alternative Sharetribe itself calls the closest: no-code, for B2C, B2B, peer-to-peer or services marketplaces, with more than 150 REST endpoints. It publishes no price, so ask for a quote before you plan around it.
Mercur is an open-source marketplace layer on Medusa, under the MIT license, with no license fee and no commission. It's for teams with developers who want to host everything themselves. Its Enterprise and cloud offers have no public price.
Mirakl is built for large retailers running marketplaces at scale. It has no no-code builder and no public pricing. If you're leaving Sharetribe, you're probably not its customer yet.

Sharetribe and 5 alternatives side by side
Our default pick: Kreezalid to stay hosted and no-code, CS-Cart Multi-Vendor if you have a developer and sell products. For scale over one year (our math): Sharetribe Live billed yearly is $2,388, Kreezalid Launch €1,548 before VAT, Webkul Starter plus Shopify Basic $672 with both billed yearly, CS-Cart Standard $725, Dokan Professional $249 plus your hosting. Migrate from Sharetribe in eight steps
A marketplace has two sides to move, and the sellers matter most: lose them and buyers follow. Each step protects one piece: your data, your payouts, your accounts, your search traffic.
The steps
List everything Sharetribe does for you
Week 1Write down your listing types, transaction process (booking, purchase, inquiry), commission rules, email notifications, custom fields and every bit of custom code. Each line needs an equivalent in the new tool, or a decision to drop it.
Do this before demos. A vendor will show you what it does; your list shows what you need.
- Time
- half a day
- Risk if skipped
- a missing flow at launch
Get your data out, and confirm how
Week 1We found no official one-click export out of Sharetribe. Ask support what they can provide, and plan to pull users, listings and transactions through the Integration API if needed. Save the images too.
Keep the files outside both tools. They're your fallback if the import goes wrong.
- What
- users, listings, images, transactions
Don't cancel Live too early
Week 1Keep Live running until the new site takes real orders. Once traffic has moved, downgrade to Hold at $49 a month: the marketplace is paused but the data stays. Check first whether you signed a 12-month credit commitment, which can't be canceled during its term.
- Hold
- $49/mo
- Commitments
- 12 months, non-cancelable
Reconnect every seller's payout account
Week 2Seller payout accounts on Sharetribe live in Stripe. Your new tool needs each seller to connect or create a payout account again. On Dokan, that means Professional or above for Stripe Connect.
Send sellers a short guide with a deadline. A seller with no payout account can't be paid, and that's the fastest way to lose your supply side.
- Who acts
- each seller
Plan for passwords that won't come across
Week 2Sharetribe itself doesn't migrate passwords when it imports a marketplace, and you should assume the same on the way out. Import accounts by email, then send a clear "set your new password" message on launch day.
- one reset message
Archive the transaction history
Week 2Past transactions rarely import as live transactions. Sharetribe doesn't import them that way either. Keep them as a file for accounting and disputes, and show sellers their sales history another way if they need it.
- Format
- CSV for accounting
Run a pilot with a few sellers
Week 3Invite five to ten trusted sellers and a few buyers. Push real orders end to end: listing, payment, payout, review, refund. Fix what breaks before you announce anything.
- Goal
- one full order cycle
Switch the domain, then redirect old URLs
Week 4Point your domain to the new site and redirect old listing and profile URLs to their new addresses, so search engines and shared links don't hit dead pages. Then move Sharetribe to Hold or close it once your exports are safe.
- Check
- redirects on top listings

What makes a Sharetribe migration go wrong
The failures we see in founders' posts and freelance briefs are rarely technical. They're about money, sellers and timing.
Choosing on the headline price
A $1,999 license or a $149 plugin looks cheaper than $199 a month. Add hosting, developer time and support renewals, then compare over three years. Our math for reference: three years of Sharetribe Live billed yearly comes to $7,164.
Losing sellers in the payout switch
Every seller has to connect a payout account again. Without a deadline and a guide, some never do, and their listings sit unsellable. Track who has finished, one by one.
Ignoring payment coverage
If you're leaving because of Stripe's country list, check the new tool's payment options in your sellers' countries before signing. Dokan only adds PayPal Marketplace on Business and above.
Canceling before exporting
Closing your Sharetribe plan before the data is out is the one mistake you can't fix. Hold, at $49 a month, is cheap insurance while you check the import.
Forgetting a credit commitment
A 12-month usage credit commitment keeps billing until the term ends, even if you've moved. Read your contract before you set your switch date.
Underestimating self-hosting
Moving to CS-Cart, Dokan or Yo!Kart means you own uptime, backups and security. If nobody on the team can handle that, a hosted option such as Kreezalid is safer.
Sharetribe alternatives: frequently asked questions
What is the best Sharetribe alternative?
It depends on why you're leaving. Kreezalid is the closest hosted no-code swap. CS-Cart Multi-Vendor is the strongest for physical goods if you have a developer. Dokan is the cheapest start on WordPress. Our marketplace builder ranking compares the wider field, Sharetribe included.
How much does Sharetribe cost in 2026?
Build is $39 a month and runs in test mode only, with a 14-day free trial. Live, required for real payments, is $199 a month billed yearly or $259 month to month. Hold costs $49 a month to pause. Stripe's own fees, around 1.5 to 3%, come on top. Nonprofits and steward-owned companies get 25% off.
Does Sharetribe take a commission on sales?
No. Sharetribe charges no transaction fees on Live. You pay the subscription, usage credits beyond the 1 million included each month, and Stripe's processing fees. Your own commission stays yours.
Is there an open-source alternative to Sharetribe?
Yes. Mercur is an open-source marketplace layer on Medusa, under the MIT license, with no license fee or commission. You need developers to set it up and host it. Dokan Lite is free too, but it runs on WordPress and WooCommerce.
Can I move from Sharetribe to WooCommerce?
Yes, and it's a common path: WooCommerce plus a marketplace plugin like Dokan. Budget for the work. One brief we read for exactly that migration drew an average quote around €1,900. Remember that seller payouts through Stripe Connect need Dokan Professional or above.
Can I use PayPal on Sharetribe?
Not for most new marketplaces. The standard setup uses Stripe only, and sellers need a bank account in one of 36 supported countries to get paid. If PayPal matters, Dokan offers PayPal Marketplace on its Business plan. Our marketplace payment gateway ranking compares the options.
Is a one-time license cheaper than Sharetribe?
Over time, often. CS-Cart Plus at $3,590 once matches about 18 months of Live billed yearly, and Yo!Kart GoQuick at $1,999 about ten months. But you pay hosting, security and support after the included period. If nobody can run a server, the saving disappears.
What happens to my data if I pause Sharetribe?
On Hold, at $49 a month, your marketplace is paused and your data is kept. It's the safe place to park the old site while you check that the new one has everything.
