Overview

What changes for a deal team

Before a partner meeting, you no longer rebuild the history by hand. Claude reads the people, companies and pipeline lists your firm keeps in Affinity, pulls past meetings and transcript excerpts, and answers in the chat. When the call is over, it can log the note, set the reminder and move a list entry forward.

Prep a meeting from your own history. get_meetings_for_entity lists every meeting with a founder or a company, get_notes_for_entity brings back what your team wrote, and get_transcript_fragments quotes what was actually said.

Read the pipeline without building a view. get_lists and get_single_list_entry show where a company sits in your deal lists, search_opportunities finds deals by keyword.

Log the outcome. create_note attaches your recap to the person or company, create_reminder schedules the follow-up and upsert_list_entry_field_values sets the stage and deal lead on the list entry.

What it will not do: the directory sheet carries no tool to delete a record or a reminder, and none to create a person, a company or an opportunity, although Affinity's documentation describes such tools elsewhere. Nothing runs on its own either: no tool fires when a relationship score moves. For event-driven syncs, the Affinity n8n integration covers another need, and the Integrations hub lists the rest.

Vocabulary

The vocabulary in one minute

Five words you will meet while plugging Affinity into Claude.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already have, so Claude can work in it while it answers you.
Tool
One named thing a connector lets Claude do. Claude picks the ones it needs on its own, and the directory sheet lists them by name.
Authorization
Affinity's own sign-in and consent screen, where you hand Claude its access. Granted once per person, and you can take it back.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before it goes ahead with a change to your account, shown in the conversation when it matters.
MCP
The shared standard connectors are built on: it is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service such as Affinity.
Connect

Connect Affinity to Claude in three steps

  1. 01

    Find Affinity in Claude

Open Claude's settings, go to Customize then Connectors, and look for Affinity. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner has to switch the connector on before members can sign in to it.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Click Connect on Affinity's row and sign in to Affinity in the window it opens itself. Every user does this individually. To re-authorize later, use Disconnect first, then connect again.

  3. 03

    Read the consent screen

Go through Affinity's consent screen before you accept. It belongs to Affinity, not to Claude, and it sets what the access covers, including whether Claude may write at all. Affinity admins can revoke it later.

Tools

The 31 tools, sorted by what they do

Affinity gives Claude 31 tools: 19 that read your account, 5 that change something in it, and 7 no official source describes.

Three groups: what Claude reads, what it writes, and what no official source describes under its exact name. Tool names stay as Claude shows them.

What Claude reads (19)

19 tools

Nineteen tools that look things up in Affinity without touching your data.

get_company_info

Opens the full profile of one company with its field data, such as description and location.

When it helps
a partner asks where a portfolio candidate is based and what it does, and you want the CRM's answer in one line.

Sourcedeveloper.affinity.co · September 30, 2026 ↗

get_company_list_entries

Shows which of your lists a given company appears on, so Claude knows whether it is tracked as a deal, a portfolio company or a prospect.

When it helps
you want to check which deal lists already track a company before adding it anywhere.

Sourcedeveloper.affinity.co · September 30, 2026 ↗

get_current_user

Confirms which Affinity user Claude is authenticated as and that the connection works.

When it helps
results look thin and you want to verify Claude is using your account and not a colleague's.
Watch out
answers always depend on that user's permissions.

Sourcedeveloper.affinity.co · September 30, 2026 ↗

get_entities_attached_to_note

Finds which people, companies or opportunities are linked to a specific note, the context Claude needs to read it correctly.

When it helps
you found a note about a term sheet and want to know which company and which founder it concerns before quoting it in a partner memo.

Sourcedeveloper.affinity.co · September 30, 2026 ↗

get_entity_fields

Reveals which fields exist on people or companies, custom ones included. Claude learns your firm's vocabulary before filtering on it.

When it helps
you ask for companies by sector and Claude first checks what your industry field is called and what it holds.

Sourcedeveloper.affinity.co · September 30, 2026 ↗

get_list_field_dropdown_options

Lists the options available on a dropdown field of a list, such as the values of a Status column.

When it helps
before asking for every deal in due diligence, Claude checks the exact wording your pipeline uses for that stage.

Sourcedeveloper.affinity.co · September 30, 2026 ↗

get_list_fields

Shows which fields are tracked on a specific list, the columns your team fills for each entry.

When it helps
you want to know what the pipeline list records, such as stage or deal lead, before asking Claude to summarise it.

Sourcedeveloper.affinity.co · September 30, 2026 ↗

get_list_info

Returns a list's metadata, with a direct link to open it in Affinity.

When it helps
a colleague asks where the Series A pipeline lives, and you want to paste the link rather than describe the menu path.
Watch out
the link only helps someone whose own Affinity access covers that list.

Sourcedeveloper.affinity.co · September 30, 2026 ↗

get_lists

Enumerates every list you have access to, optionally filtered by name.

When it helps
you joined the firm last month and want to see which pipelines, portfolio lists and contact lists exist.
Watch out
lists hidden from you stay hidden from Claude.

Sourcedeveloper.affinity.co · September 30, 2026 ↗

get_meetings

Pulls past and upcoming meeting interactions with their attendees across your organisation.

When it helps
you want every meeting from last week and who attended, for the Monday partner review.
Watch out
it only works once your organisation is onboarded to Affinity's unified events feature.

Sourcedeveloper.affinity.co · September 30, 2026 ↗

get_meetings_for_entity

Brings back the meetings tied to one person, company or opportunity, so the history of a relationship fits in one answer instead of a scroll through the timeline.

When it helps
before a follow-up, you want every meeting with a company over the past six months.

Sourcedeveloper.affinity.co · September 30, 2026 ↗

get_notes_for_entity

Retrieves every note attached to a specific person, company or opportunity.

When it helps
you are taking over a deal from a colleague and want all notes on the company before the next call, without scrolling the record or asking around the team.

Sourcedeveloper.affinity.co · September 30, 2026 ↗

get_person_info

Opens the detailed profile of one person with their field data, such as current title and organisation.

When it helps
you are about to email a founder and want to confirm their current role and company as your CRM knows them.

Sourcedeveloper.affinity.co · September 30, 2026 ↗

get_person_list_entries

Reveals which lists a person appears on, telling Claude where that contact already sits in your pipelines.

When it helps
you want to know whether an angel investor is already tracked on your co-investor list before asking a partner for a warm intro.

Sourcedeveloper.affinity.co · September 30, 2026 ↗

get_reminders

Reads all of your team's reminders, gathered in one list rather than scattered across records.

When it helps
on Friday afternoon you want the reminders assigned to you for next week, so nothing slips over the weekend.
Watch out
it only reads them; adding one goes through create_reminder.

Sourcedeveloper.affinity.co · September 30, 2026 ↗

get_single_list_entry

Fetches one specific entry on a list, for example a company's row on the Series A pipeline.

When it helps
you want the current stage and deal lead of one company without opening the whole list.
Watch out
field-level visibility applies, so a column hidden from you stays hidden from Claude.

Sourcedeveloper.affinity.co · September 30, 2026 ↗

get_transcript_fragments

Retrieves dialogue fragments from your team's meeting transcripts, so Claude can quote the conversation instead of paraphrasing a note.

When it helps
you want the financial figures a founder gave during last week's meeting, in their own words, ahead of the investment committee.

Sourcedeveloper.affinity.co · September 30, 2026 ↗

search_opportunities

Searches opportunities by keyword, or returns them all.

When it helps
you want every opportunity mentioning an enterprise renewal, or simply the full list of open deals, before the weekly pipeline review.
Watch out
list access controls apply to every call, so deals on lists you cannot open stay out of the results.

Sourcedeveloper.affinity.co · September 30, 2026 ↗

search_persons

Looks for people across your organisation with structured filters, sorting, a keyword, or a mix of the three.

When it helps
you want everyone with an engineering title across the companies you track.
Watch out
Affinity's server keeps none of these results; each search runs fresh against your CRM.

What Claude writes (5)

5 tools

Five tools that add or change something. No source gives them their own confirmation rule: the general one below applies.

create_list_entry

Approval: see the rule

Puts an existing person or company on a list as a new entry, for instance a startup onto your pipeline.

What Claude asks for
no source describes a confirmation specific to this tool; the general approval rule applies.
When it helps
after a promising first call, you want the company on the Series A list right away.

Sourcedeveloper.affinity.co · September 30, 2026 ↗

create_note

Approval: see the rule

Creates a note and attaches it to a person, a company, an opportunity or a meeting.

What Claude asks for
nothing documented for this tool alone; the general approval rule covers it.
When it helps
you just hung up with a founder and want the recap on the company record, pricing points included.

Sourcedeveloper.affinity.co · September 30, 2026 ↗

create_reminder

Approval: see the rule

Sets up a reminder, one-time or recurring, and can assign it to you or a colleague.

What Claude asks for
no tool-specific confirmation is documented; see the general rule.
When it helps
you want a nudge on the first of the month to request year-end financials from a portfolio company.

Sourcedeveloper.affinity.co · September 30, 2026 ↗

send_feedback

Approval: see the rule

Submits feedback to Affinity about a missing capability or a limitation you ran into. The message goes to the publisher, not into your CRM.

What Claude asks for
no source describes a confirmation; the general rule applies.
When it helps
Claude cannot filter companies by location and you want Affinity to know.

Sourcedeveloper.affinity.co · September 30, 2026 ↗

upsert_list_entry_field_values

Approval: see the rule

Creates or updates several field values at once on a specific list entry, such as stage and deal lead.

What Claude asks for
no source describes a confirmation for this tool; the general approval rule applies.
When it helps
after diligence starts, you want the company's pipeline row moved to Due Diligence with you as lead.

Not documented (7)

7 tools

The directory lists these seven names, but Affinity's documentation describes no tool by these exact names. This page will not guess from a name.

get_entity_field_values

This name appears on the directory's tool list, and that is all anyone publishes about it. Affinity's tool reference uses other names, and no Claude page covers it, so this page goes no further.

Watch out
whatever it does, the general approval rule covers it.

get_list_entries

Listed by name on the directory sheet, with no description, and absent under that exact name from Affinity's reference and from Claude's documentation. Reading a role into the name would be inventing it.

Watch out
owners can still set it to Ask or Block like any tool.

get_notes

No official text describes a tool by this exact name: Affinity's page documents neighbouring note tools, not this one, and Anthropic has no Affinity page. Only the name is public.

Watch out
the approval rules below apply to it too.

get_relationship_strengths

Affinity's reference talks about relationship tools under different names; nothing official is written about this exact one. The directory shows the name and stops there, with no source describing its output.

Watch out
it sits under the same general approval rule as the rest.

search_companies

Only its name is published, on the directory sheet. Affinity documents company searches under other names, so nothing official says what this one returns, how it filters or whether it only reads.

Watch out
Claude's default approval covers it regardless.

upsert_entity_field_value

Nearly identical to a tool Affinity documents, yet the exact name on the directory sheet appears in no official source. A one-letter difference is not proof, so this page states nothing about it.

Watch out
unchecking the permission scope offered at consent restricts the whole connection, this tool included.
Approvals

What Claude asks before it acts

By default, Claude stops and asks for your go-ahead before any action it takes on an account for you. No source gives an Affinity tool its own rule, so that default covers the five writes.

On a Team or Enterprise workspace, owners can cap the connector for everyone: in its Configuration tab, Tool permission restrictions set each tool to Always allow, Ask or Block, grouped into read-only and write or delete tools. Affinity notes these restrictions do not reach Claude Code CLI, desktop extensions or the API. Claude works with your Affinity permissions, list access and field visibility included, and nothing more.

Plans

Which plans this works on

None of the 819 sheets in the official directory shows plan availability. The per-connector answer is published nowhere, and that is a real gap in the catalogue.

The general rule is published: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner switches the connector on for the organisation before members sign in. The publisher says something about Claude plans too, set against this rule in the limits section. For the current state, check the connector's sheet in the official directory.

Limits

Where this connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you: nothing starts when a meeting is logged, a relationship cools or a reminder falls due.

Only Affinity documents this connector; neither Claude's help centre nor Anthropic's developer docs have a page on it. Affinity's tool reference and the directory sheet do not list the same tools, which is why seven stay undocumented here. The list is an observed floor, not a promise. The partner badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic says on every sheet that it does not guarantee how a publisher's tools behave. Affinity adds that its server stores no CRM data and never sees your prompts, only the tool calls.

Two official sources disagree

Which Claude plans can use the Affinity connector?

What this page followsNeither is outdated, and they agree. Anthropic's rule covers every connector; Affinity's line targets this one but comes from the publisher, not from Anthropic. Check the directory sheet from your own account before relying on either.

FAQ

FAQ about the Claude Affinity connector

01What can Claude do with the Claude Affinity connector?
Claude can read your firm's relationship data in Affinity and log work in it from a conversation. Nineteen documented tools look up people and companies, the lists they sit on, list fields and entries, meetings, notes, reminders, opportunities and transcript excerpts. Five tools add a list entry, a note or a reminder, update several field values on a list entry, or send feedback to Affinity. Seven more tools appear on the directory sheet without any official description under their exact name.
02Can Claude create or change data in Affinity?
Yes, five of the 31 tools write. Claude can add a person or company to a list, attach a note to a person, company, opportunity or meeting, set up a one-time or recurring reminder, and update field values on a list entry, such as stage or deal lead. A fifth tool sends feedback to Affinity itself. The directory sheet lists nothing to delete records or reminders, and nothing to create a person, company or opportunity, even though Affinity documents such tools elsewhere.
03Does Claude ask before acting in Affinity?
By default, yes: Claude asks for confirmation before any action it takes on an account for you, and no source gives an Affinity tool its own rule. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, owners can go further in the connector's Configuration tab, setting each tool to always allow, ask or block. Affinity also lets you uncheck the write scope on its consent screen, which makes the connection read-only and stops Claude from changing anything at all.
04Which plans is the Affinity connector available on?
No official source publishes Claude plan availability per connector, and no directory sheet shows it. The general rule says remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, with an Owner or Primary Owner switching them on first on Team and Enterprise. Affinity's own documentation names Claude plans, quoted in the limits section, and separately requires certain Affinity tiers. The directory sheet remains the only place with the current state for your account.
05Does Claude see my whole Affinity CRM?
No, only what your own Affinity user can see. Affinity states that every tool call runs with the permissions of the authenticated user: list access controls, role permissions and field-level visibility all apply, and there is no extra privilege through the connector. Claude also cannot create or update a record you could not update yourself in the CRM. Affinity admins can revoke access for any AI client, and each user can disconnect whenever they want.
06Why does Claude find no meetings in Affinity?
Most often because your organisation is not onboarded to Affinity's unified events feature. Affinity says the tool that pulls meetings across the organisation requires it, and suggests contacting your customer success manager if you get an access error. Meetings tied to one specific person, company or opportunity go through a separate tool. It also helps to confirm who Claude is signed in as, since results always follow that user's permissions and the lists they can open.
07Claude or an automation tool for Affinity?
They answer different needs, so it depends on the job. Claude works inside a conversation: you ask about a founder, a deal or last week's meetings, it reads, summarises or logs, and nothing happens once you stop typing. It does not react on its own when a meeting is recorded or a list entry changes. Anything that must run on a schedule or on an event belongs to an automation tool. For meeting prep and quick logging, the connector is the better fit.
