Overview

What changes for a prospecting rep

No more copying names from one tab into another. You describe your ideal customer to Claude in plain words, it queries Apollo's database of people and companies, fills in the contact details you ask for, and can put the right people into an existing sequence. All of it runs on your own Apollo rights and credit balance.

Build a list from a sentence. Ask for marketing VPs at mid-size software companies: apollo_search_people returns names and job titles, and apollo_search_organizations gives the firmographic side, industry, size and location.

Fill the gaps before outreach. Search results carry no email or phone. apollo_enrich_person brings them back for one prospect, apollo_bulk_enrich_people for a whole list, and apollo_get_job_postings shows who is hiring, a buying signal.

Hand the list to a sequence. apollo_create_contacts saves the people you keep, then apollo_add_contacts_to_sequence enrols them in a sequence that already exists; apollo_list_email_accounts lets you pick the sending mailbox first.

What it will not do: enrichment results stay in the conversation and are not saved in Apollo unless you create the contact. Apollo's article mentions one-off emails, tasks and analytics, but no tool on the directory sheet is documented for them. Nothing runs by itself either: for syncs that must fire on a schedule, the Apollo.io Make integration does that other job, and the Integrations hub lists the rest.

Vocabulary

The vocabulary in one minute

Five words you will meet while plugging Apollo.io into Claude.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already have, so Claude can work in it while it answers you.
Tool
One named thing a connector lets Claude do. Claude picks the ones it needs on its own, and the directory sheet lists them by name.
Authorization
Apollo's own sign-in screen, where you hand Claude its access. Granted once per person, and you can take it back the same way.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before it goes ahead with a change to your account, shown in the conversation when it matters.
MCP
The shared standard connectors are built on: it is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service such as Apollo.
Connect

Connect Apollo.io to Claude in three steps

  1. 01

    Find Apollo.io in Claude

Open Claude's settings, go to Customize then Connectors, and look for Apollo.io in the list. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner has to switch the connector on before members can sign in.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Click Connect on its row, then sign in to Apollo in the window Apollo opens itself, with a work address. If the link breaks later, use Disconnect and connect again.

  3. 03

    Read the authorization screen

Go through Apollo's terms and authorization screen before you accept. It belongs to Apollo, not to Claude, and it sets what the access covers. Each person on the team does this on their own account.

Tools

The 13 tools, sorted by what they do

Apollo.io gives Claude 13 tools: 7 that read your account, 4 that change something in it, and 2 no official source describes.

Three groups: what Claude reads, what it writes, and what no official source describes. Tool names stay exactly as Claude shows them.

What Claude reads (7)

7 tools

Seven tools that look things up in Apollo without saving anything to your account.

apollo_enrich_organization

Pulls fresh firmographic data on one company, returned straight into the conversation. The result is not saved as an Apollo record on its own.

When it helps
before a first call, you want the current size and industry of the account rather than what your CRM remembered.
Watch out
Apollo says some actions use credits.

Sourceknowledge.apollo.io · September 22, 2026 ↗

apollo_enrich_person

Looks up one prospect's contact details, such as a verified email, and hands them to Claude. Apollo returns the result in the chat without saving it as a contact.

When it helps
a search gave you a name and a title, and you need the address before your first message.

Sourceknowledge.apollo.io · September 22, 2026 ↗

apollo_bulk_enrich_people

Fills in contact details for a whole list of people at once, with verified emails, direct dials and company data according to the directory sheet.

When it helps
you just narrowed a search to twenty decision makers and want reachable contacts for all of them.
Watch out
results live in the chat until you save them as contacts.

Sourceclaude.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

apollo_search_people

Queries Apollo's database for prospects matching a title, industry, location or company size, and returns names with job titles.

When it helps
you want founders of fintech firms based in one city for a new campaign.
Watch out
no email or phone in these results; enrichment reveals them afterwards.

Sourceknowledge.apollo.io · September 22, 2026 ↗

apollo_search_organizations

Finds companies in Apollo by industry, size or location, with their firmographic details. It gives Claude the account side of a target list.

When it helps
you are sizing a market and want software firms of a given headcount in North America before picking contacts.

Sourceknowledge.apollo.io · September 22, 2026 ↗

apollo_get_job_postings

Brings back a company's open job postings, so Claude can point at hiring signals and buying intent before you reach out.

When it helps
a target just opened three IT roles and you want to time your message on that growth.

Sourceclaude.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

apollo_list_email_accounts

Lists the email accounts linked to your Apollo profile, so you can choose which mailbox a sequence goes out from.

When it helps
right before enrolling prospects, Apollo recommends checking which mailbox is set as sender.
Watch out
Apollo's article lets you pick one mailbox or several; this tool only shows them, and the enrolment itself goes through apollo_add_contacts_to_sequence.

What Claude writes (4)

4 tools

Four tools that add or change contacts and sequence enrolments. No source gives them their own confirmation rule: the general one below applies.

apollo_create_contacts

Approval: see the rule

Saves new contacts in Apollo from the conversation, for example a sales VP you just found and enriched.

What Claude asks for
no source describes a confirmation specific to this tool; the general rule of the approvals section applies.
When it helps
you want to keep enrichment results.
Watch out
ask for deduplication to avoid doubles.

Sourceknowledge.apollo.io · September 22, 2026 ↗

apollo_update_contacts

Approval: see the rule

Changes existing contacts in Apollo, such as a new job title after a promotion or corrected company details.

What Claude asks for
nothing documented for this tool alone; the general approval rule covers it.
When it helps
a prospect moved up to senior director and your sequence personalisation should follow.

Sourceknowledge.apollo.io · September 22, 2026 ↗

apollo_add_contacts_to_sequence

Approval: see the rule

Adds contacts to a sequence that already exists in Apollo, so outreach starts on its schedule.

What Claude asks for
no tool-specific confirmation is documented; the general rule applies. Apollo still advises confirming sequence, sender, schedule and contacts first.
When it helps
you want the prospects of the week in the Q1 outbound sequence.

Sourceknowledge.apollo.io · September 22, 2026 ↗

apollo_remove_contacts_from_sequence

Approval: see the rule

Takes contacts out of existing sequences, which stops further steps for them.

What Claude asks for
no source describes a specific confirmation; see the general rule.
When it helps
a prospect replied that they are not interested and must leave every active sequence.
Watch out
review who is selected before you let it run.

Not documented (2)

2 tools

The directory publishes these two names and nothing more. No official text says what they do, and this page will not guess from a name.

apollo_search_contacts

This name appears on the directory's tool list, and that is all anyone publishes about it. Apollo's article does not mention it and no Claude page does either, so this page says nothing more.

Watch out
whatever it does, the general approval rule covers it.

apollo_search_sequences

Listed by name on the directory sheet, with no official description anywhere: not in Apollo's help article, not in Claude's documentation. Guessing its role from the name would be inventing it.

Watch out
set its permission level in Claude like any other action.
Approvals

What Claude asks before it acts

By default, Claude stops and asks for your go-ahead before any action it takes on an account for you. Apollo adds a per-action setting of its own, and recommends using it wherever credits are spent.

In Customize then Connectors, the Configure button next to Apollo.io lets you set each action to Always allow, Approval required or Blocked. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, owners can also cap what a connector may do for the whole organisation, and nobody overrides that from their own account. Claude works with your Apollo permission profile and nothing more: if you cannot do it in Apollo, neither can Claude.

Plans

Which plans this works on

None of the 819 sheets in the official directory shows plan availability. The per-connector answer is published nowhere, and that is a real gap in the catalogue.

The general rule is published: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner switches the connector on for the organisation before members sign in. Apollo's own article says something about Claude subscriptions, set against this rule in the limits section. For the current state, check the connector's sheet in the official directory.

Limits

Where this connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you: nothing starts when a prospect changes job or a company posts a new role.

Only Apollo documents this connector; neither Claude's help centre nor Anthropic's developer docs have a page on it, and Apollo labels its Claude integration as a beta whose features and pricing may change. The tool list is an observed floor, not a promise: an administrator may open actions no public sheet shows. The partner badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic says on every sheet that it does not guarantee how a publisher's tools behave.

Two official sources disagree

Which Claude plans can use the Apollo.io connector?

What this page followsNeither is outdated, and they point the same way. Anthropic's rule covers every connector; Apollo's line targets this one but comes from the publisher, not from Anthropic. Check the directory sheet from your own account before relying on either.

FAQ

FAQ about the Claude Apollo.io connector

01What can Claude do with the Claude Apollo.io connector?
Claude can research prospects in Apollo and act on your contacts from a conversation. Seven tools search people and companies, enrich one person, one company or a whole list, show a company's job postings and list your linked mailboxes. Four tools create or edit contacts and add or remove them from existing sequences. Two more appear on the directory sheet without any description. Apollo's pitch is to go from an ideal customer profile to enrolled prospects without copying data between tabs.
02Can Claude create contacts or enrol people in sequences?
Yes, four of the 13 tools write to your Apollo account. Claude can save new contacts, edit existing ones, enrol contacts in a sequence that already exists and remove them from sequences. Apollo advises confirming the sequence, the sender, the schedule and the list of contacts before any enrolment, and turning on deduplication when you create contacts. Enrichment itself does not save anything: its results stay in the chat until you create or update the contact.
03Does Claude ask before acting in Apollo?
By default, yes: Claude asks for confirmation before any action it takes on an account for you. No source describes a confirmation specific to one Apollo tool. Apollo adds a setting per action under Configure, with three levels: always allow, approval required or blocked. Apollo recommends requiring approval on every action that consumes credits. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, owners can also restrict what the connector may do for the whole organisation.
04Which plans is the Apollo.io connector available on?
No official source publishes availability per plan, connector by connector, and no directory sheet shows it. The general rule says remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, with an Owner or Primary Owner switching them on first on Team and Enterprise. Apollo's article adds its own statement about Claude subscriptions, quoted in the limits section. The connector's sheet in the official directory remains the only place showing its current state.
05Does Claude see my whole Apollo account?
No, only what your own Apollo profile allows. Apollo is explicit: Claude can only perform the actions you could perform yourself, based on your permission profile and your Apollo plan, and it draws on your own credit balance. A colleague with a broader profile will be able to do more through the same connector. And each person connects individually: Apollo offers no team-wide install. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, owners can also restrict what the connector may do for everyone.
06Why can't I connect Apollo.io to Claude?
The two usual blockers come from Apollo's own rules. First, Apollo prohibits model training through its integrations and asks you to turn off model training in your Claude account before connecting. Second, you must sign in to Apollo with a work address; personal mailboxes such as Gmail or Yahoo are not accepted. If an action is missing or not working once connected, Claude's help centre says a broken link is fixed by disconnecting the connector and connecting it again.
07Claude or an automation tool for Apollo.io?
They serve different needs, so it depends on the job. Claude works inside a conversation: you describe who you want to reach, it searches, enriches and enrols on request, and stops when you stop typing. It does not react on its own to a new lead or a changed job title. Anything that must run on a schedule or on an event belongs to an automation tool. For ad hoc prospect research turned into a clean list, the connector is the better fit.
