Overview

What changes when a course starts as a conversation

Instead of opening a blank course and staring at the first lesson, you describe the training to Claude: the topic, the goals, who it is for, how deep it should go. Claude turns that into an outline inside your Articulate account, and you open it there to review it and generate the full interactive content.

Check before you build. A trainer about to start a compliance module asks Claude what already exists, and list_courses brings back the courses in the account, so a duplicate never gets started.

From a brief to an outline in one request. An HR lead describes an onboarding course for new store managers, and generate_course_outline drops a structured outline into Articulate, ready for review.

Reuse the thinking you already did. Articulate suggests generating an outline from your existing conversations, or pulling in material from other tools connected to Claude, so the research behind the brief is not lost.

What it will not do, as far as the sources go: write the full lessons inside the chat or publish a course. The directory sheet places that step in Articulate, after you have reviewed the outline. Nothing runs on its own either: Claude works only while it answers you. The Integrations hub lists the other apps we cover.

Vocabulary

Five words to know first

The vocabulary around this connector, in one minute.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already own, so Claude can work in it while it answers you.
Tool
One named thing a connector lets Claude do. Claude picks the tools it needs by itself, and the directory lists them by name.
Authorization
Articulate's sign-in screen, where you hand Claude the access it uses afterward. Granted once per person, and you can revoke it.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before it changes something in an account, shown in the conversation when it matters.
MCP
The shared standard connectors are built on: it is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service such as Articulate.
Connect

Connect Articulate to Claude in three steps

  1. 01

    Find Articulate in Claude

Open Claude's settings, go to Customize then Connectors, and look for Articulate. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner has to enable it before members can each sign in with their own account.

  2. 02

    Sign in to Articulate

Click Connect on its row, then sign in to Articulate in the window that the service opens itself. If the link stops working later, use Disconnect and connect once more; that usually repairs it.

  3. 03

    Read the authorization screen

Read Articulate's authorization screen before you accept. It belongs to the service, not to Claude, and it decides what the access covers. You can also take that access back later from the same place.

Tools

The 2 tools, split by what they do

Articulate gives Claude 2 tools: 1 that read your account, 1 that change something in it.

One tool looks, one tool creates. Both are described on the directory sheet, so nothing here is guessed from a name. Names stay exactly as Claude shows them.

What Claude reads (1)

1 tool

One tool that searches and browses the courses already in your account.

list_courses

Searches and browses the courses already in your Articulate account and brings the matches back into the conversation, so you see what exists before asking for anything new.

When it helps
before drafting a cybersecurity module, you check whether a colleague already built one last year.
Watch out
the result is limited to the courses your own Articulate account can see.

What Claude creates (1)

1 tool

One tool that adds a training outline to your Articulate account. No source spells out a confirmation for it, so the general rule below applies.

generate_course_outline

Approval: see the rule

Takes the brief you give Claude (topic, goals, audience, depth) and creates a training outline in Articulate, which you then open there to review and turn into full interactive content.

What Claude asks for
no source describes a specific confirmation for this tool; the general approval rule below covers it.
When it helps

Approvals

What Claude checks with you first

By default, Claude stops and asks for your confirmation before each action it carries out on an account for someone. The prompt appears in the conversation at the moment it matters.

On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether a member may let some actions through without a prompt each time. They can also cap what a connector may do for the whole organization, for example keeping course lookups open and closing creation, and nobody gets around that from a personal account. Claude works with the rights of the person who connected and nothing more: what you cannot reach in Articulate, it cannot reach either. Articulate adds that what you share with Claude falls under Claude's policies, not Articulate 360's.

Plans

Which plans include it

None of the 819 sheets in the official directory shows plan availability. Connector by connector, that answer is published nowhere: a real gap in the catalog.

What is published is the general rule: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner opens a connector for the organization before members can each connect. For Articulate's live state, check its sheet in the official directory. Only Articulate documents this connector; no Claude help page covers it.

Limits

Where this connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you, so nothing is generated when a new hire joins or a policy changes.

The tool list is an observed floor, not a promise: an administrator can open actions that no public sheet shows. The partner badge in the directory is not a security audit, and Anthropic states on every sheet that it neither picks the tools a publisher exposes nor guarantees they behave as announced. Connect only what comes from a publisher you trust, here Articulate itself. For a connector with a much longer tool list, compare with the Claude affinity connector page.

FAQ

Questions about the Claude Articulate connector

01What can Claude do with the Articulate connector?
Claude can do two things in your Articulate account from a conversation. It can search and browse the courses that already exist, and it can create a training outline from a brief you give it: topic, goals, audience and depth. You then open that outline in Articulate to review it and generate the full interactive content. Both tools are described on the directory sheet, so nothing about them is inferred from their names.
02Can Claude create or change courses in Articulate?
It can create one thing: a training outline, through generate_course_outline. No tool on the sheet edits, renames, publishes or deletes an existing course, and the other tool only lists what is there. That is the floor the public listing shows today, not a promise for every organization, since an administrator can open actions that no public sheet lists. The full interactive content is generated afterward inside Articulate, once you have reviewed the outline.
03Does Claude ask before it creates an outline?
By default, Claude asks for confirmation before each action it takes on an account for someone. No source describes a specific prompt for generate_course_outline, so that general rule is what covers it. In an organization workspace, owners decide whether members may let certain actions through without being asked each time, and they can block outline creation for everyone while leaving the course list available. Members cannot override that setting. The prompt, when it comes, shows up in the chat.
04Which Claude plans is the Articulate connector available on?
No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, and none of the 819 directory sheets shows it. The general rule is that remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, with an Owner or Primary Owner enabling them first on Team and Enterprise. Articulate's pages name no Claude plan. The connector's own sheet in the directory is where to check its current state for your account.
05Does Claude see everything in our Articulate account?
No, Claude works with the rights of the person who connected and nothing more. What you cannot open in Articulate stays out of its reach too. In practice it only touches two things: the course list it can search, and the outlines it creates on request. Articulate also points out that content you share with Claude falls under Claude's policies rather than Articulate 360's, which matters before you paste internal documents.
06Will Claude write the whole course for me?
Not inside the chat, according to the sources. The directory sheet describes Claude creating an outline in Articulate; you then open it there, review it, and generate the full interactive training in Articulate. Articulate also suggests building the outline from your existing conversations or from content in other tools connected to Claude. The finished course and its lessons are generated on the Articulate side. The chat is where the brief and the outline take shape.
07Claude or an automation tool for Articulate?
They do different jobs, so this is not a ranking. Claude with this connector is for shaping a course in a conversation: checking what exists, describing the training, getting an outline to review. An automation tool runs a scenario by itself when something happens. No Articulate tool on the sheet starts on its own, for example when a new hire joins, so a recurring routine belongs to an automation platform.
