Claude DataCamp connectorWhat Claude can do in your DataCamp account.

The Claude DataCamp connector exposes 87 tools. 61 read the catalog or your group data, 25 change something, 1 is documented nowhere. Below: what works without an account, what your role unlocks, and what to know before you delete anything.

Verified Trustpilot reviews · AI, automation & growth agency

Overview

What it changes for an L&D lead

Two very different uses run through the same connector. A learner browses the catalog without even signing in. A group admin runs teams, assignments and reporting in plain language, without opening the admin interface. Claude picks the tools based on the question and on what your role allows.

Find the right content. search_content scans the whole catalog in one go, courses, tracks, projects and tutorials alike, then get_course or get_track details the pick, prerequisites and content path included.

Run a training campaign. create_custom_track builds a tailored path as a draft, publish_custom_track makes it visible, and create_group_assignment assigns it to a team with a deadline.

Measure adoption. group_reporting_get_adoption_score gives the share of members who have started, get_members_not_started lists the people to nudge, and query_group_reporting answers custom questions in SQL.

What Claude will not do: group tools need sign-in and a role, and a regular member generally cannot change anything there. Reporting is admin-only and relies on a daily snapshot. Nothing fires on its own when a deadline hits; scheduled reminders call for an automation tool, a different job covered on the Integrations hub.

Vocabulary

The vocabulary in one minute

Five words worth knowing before you connect DataCamp.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already have, so Claude can work in it while it answers you.
Tool
One named action a connector opens to Claude. Claude picks which ones to call; the directory lists them by name.
Authorization
The service's own sign-in screen, where you hand Claude the access it will use. Granted once per person, and revocable.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before an action that changes your account, shown in the chat right when it matters.
MCP
The shared standard behind connectors: it is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service in the first place.
Connect

Connect DataCamp to Claude in three steps

  1. 01

    Find DataCamp in Claude

In Claude's settings, open Customize, then Connectors, and look for DataCamp. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner enables it for the organization first, then each person connects.

  2. 02

    Sign in to DataCamp

Click Connect on its row, then sign in through the window DataCamp opens, by email or a social login. If the link breaks later, Disconnect and connect again.

  3. 03

    Review the permissions

Read DataCamp's authorization screen before you accept: it, not Claude, sets what the access covers. You can withdraw that access later from your DataCamp account.

Tools

The 87 tools, grouped by what they do

DataCamp gives Claude 87 tools: 61 that read your account, 25 that change something in it, and 1 no official source describes.

Three groups: what Claude reads, what it changes, and what no source describes. Names stay exactly as Claude displays them.

Undocumented (1)

1 tool

The directory publishes this name and nothing more. No official text says what it does, and this page will not guess.

remove_group_member

This name is on the directory sheet, yet no page of DataCamp's documentation describes it, while every other tool on the sheet has one. No official source says what it does, and this page will not guess.

Watch out
whatever it does, the general approvals rule covers it.
Approvals

What Claude asks before it acts

By default, Claude stops and asks for your go-ahead before each action it takes on an account for you. No source describes a confirmation specific to any DataCamp tool.

DataCamp adds its own instructions: before a group tool, the assistant should name the target group, never mix two groups in one task, and get any switch of group confirmed. Every write also needs the exact name of the target group. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, owners on the Claude side decide whether a member may let some actions through, and can shut writes for the whole organization. Each person also connects with their own DataCamp account.

Plans

Which plans it is available on

None of the 819 sheets in the directory shows plan availability. That information is not published anywhere, connector by connector.

The general rule is published: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner turns the connector on for the organization first. On the DataCamp side, access to group tools depends on your role and the group's subscription. For the current state on your account, the sheet in the official directory remains the reference.

Limits

Where this connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you, and nothing starts by itself when an assignment falls due.

Only the publisher documents this connector: neither Claude's help center nor Anthropic's developer docs have a page on it. The tool list is an observed floor, not a promise, and the partner badge is not a security audit. Anthropic says so on every sheet: it does not choose the tools a publisher exposes and does not guarantee they behave as described. Connect only what comes from a publisher you know.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the Claude DataCamp connector

01What can Claude do with the DataCamp connector?
Claude can both explore DataCamp's catalog and administer your groups. On the catalog side, it searches and details courses, tracks, projects, competitions, tutorials, webinars, podcasts and certifications, often without signing in. On the group side, it manages teams, members, invites, assignments, the waitlist and custom tracks, and queries adoption, engagement and activity reporting. What you can do depends on your role: an admin sees and changes everything, a regular member generally changes nothing.
02Can Claude change my DataCamp teams and assignments?
Yes, 25 tools are writes: creating, editing or deleting teams and assignments, inviting or removing people, changing a role or a license, handling the waitlist, and creating, publishing or archiving custom tracks. They need sign-in and a role that allows it, so a regular member usually sees them fail. Two deserve extra care: delete_group_assignment removes an assignment permanently, and deny_waitlist_entry, labeled destructive, takes a request off the waitlist for good.
03Does Claude ask before acting in DataCamp?
By default, Claude asks for confirmation before each action it takes on an account on your behalf, and no source describes a rule specific to any DataCamp tool. DataCamp adds its own instructions: name the group before acting, never mix two groups, and get a change of group confirmed. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, owners on the Claude side decide whether a member can let some actions through and can shut writes for everyone.
04Which plans is the DataCamp connector available on?
No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, and no directory sheet displays it. The general rule is that remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables the connector first. On the DataCamp side, group tools depend on your role and the subscription. The sheet in the official directory remains the only up-to-date place for your account.
05Does Claude see every group and learner in DataCamp?
No, Claude sees what your DataCamp account sees. Group tools are limited to the groups you belong to, and your role does the rest: admins and managers see the whole group, a team manager only their teams. Reporting is for admins only. Enabling the connector for an organization shares no data, since each person signs in with their own account. On the Claude side, a Team or Enterprise owner can restrict the connector further for everyone.
06Why don't DataCamp reporting numbers match real time?
Because part of the reporting runs on a snapshot, not on live data. DataCamp says some reports refresh daily and can lag by up to 24 hours, while others rest on a periodic snapshot whose date should be shown. A learner who just finished a course may therefore still appear as not started. For a fine-grained decision, ask Claude for the snapshot date before drawing conclusions, and check again the next day if a figure looks off.
07Claude or an automation tool for DataCamp?
They do different jobs, so it depends on the use. Claude fits a question or a one-off action: finding a course, building a track, seeing who has not started. It only acts during the conversation, and nothing goes out on its own when an assignment falls due. An automation tool fits processing that must run without you, like a reminder every Monday. Group tools stay tied to your role, whichever you choose.
