Claude Entendre connectorWhat Claude can do in your Entendre account.

The Claude Entendre connector exposes 3 tools. 2 read, 1 write, 0 undocumented: Claude looks up Entendre's API operations, reads how each one works, then runs code that reads or changes your accounting data. Here is what that means and what it asks first.

Overview

Your ledger, reachable from one conversation

An accountant who wants last month's profit and loss usually logs into Entendre, opens reports and picks the entity. With the connector, the request goes to Claude in plain English. Claude finds the matching Entendre operation, checks what it needs, then runs a short script that calls it and reports the result. The same route lets it propose changes to your books.

A report in one question. A finance manager asks for the P&L of one legal entity for last month. Claude browses the available operations with list_directory, reads the inputs of the right one with read_file, then calls it through execute_code.

A clean-up list. Before closing the month, a bookkeeper wants this month's unclassified transactions. Same three steps, a different operation; Entendre lists this very request among its examples.

Changes you review first. According to the directory sheet, the connector also covers classifying activity and creating journal entries. Those go through execute_code too, and Entendre asks you to review each proposed change before approving it.

What it will not do: nothing runs by itself, Claude only acts while it is answering you, and each connection covers a single organization. For recurring syncs on a schedule, look at automation platforms on the Integrations hub.

Vocabulary

Five words before you connect

The Claude vocabulary used below, in a minute.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already own, so Claude can work in it while answering you.
Tool
One named job a connector opens to Claude. Claude picks the ones it needs by itself; the directory sheet lists them by name.
Authorization
Entendre's own sign-in screen, where you give Claude its access and choose an organization. Granted once per person, revocable.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before it changes something in an account, shown in the conversation at the right time.
MCP
The shared standard behind connectors: it is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service such as Entendre.
Connect

Connect the Claude Entendre connector in three steps

  1. 01

    Find Entendre in Claude

Open Claude's settings, go to Customize then Connectors, and look for Entendre. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner must turn the connector on before members can each sign in.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Click Connect on its row, then sign in to Entendre in the window it opens. If the link breaks later, Disconnect and connect again; that is usually enough to restore it.

  3. 03

    Read the authorization screen

Read Entendre's authorization screen before you accept. It is Entendre's screen, not Claude's, and it decides what the access covers. You can also withdraw that access later from your Entendre account.

Tools

The 3 tools, in the order Claude uses them

Entendre gives Claude 3 tools: 2 that read your account, 1 that change something in it.

Three tools, all named and described by Entendre. Two only read; the third can read or change data. Names stay exactly as Claude shows them.

  • 2 read
  • 1 write

What Claude reads (2)

2 tools

Two tools that explore what Entendre's API offers, without touching your books.

list_directory

Shows Claude which Entendre API operations exist, so it can pick the one that matches your request: a report, a list of transactions, a balance.

When it helps
you ask for something new and Claude first needs to know whether Entendre has an operation for it.
Watch out
this is a catalogue of operations, not your data; nothing about your ledger comes back from it.

read_file

Opens one operation's description so Claude learns which inputs it takes and how to use it before calling it.

When it helps
Claude has found the profit and loss operation and must know which entity and period fields it expects.

What Claude can change (1)

1 tool

One tool that runs code against your data, and that Entendre asks you to review before approving.

execute_code

Asks you first

Runs a JavaScript snippet that calls the operations Claude found, either to fetch data or to change it, such as classifying activity or recording an entry.

What Claude asks for
Entendre tells you to review each proposed change in Claude before you approve it.
When it helps
month-end, you want the unclassified transactions listed and then tagged in one pass.
Watch out
the same tool reads and writes, so check whether a given call changes anything.

Approvals

What Claude asks before acting

By default, Claude stops and asks for your go-ahead before any action it takes on an account for you. The request appears in the conversation, at the moment it matters.

On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether a member may let some actions through without being asked again. They can also cap what a connector may do for the whole organization, for instance keep reading and close writing, and nobody overrides that from their own account. Claude works with your rights and nothing more: Entendre states that each request uses your Entendre permissions.

Plans

Which plans include it

None of the 819 sheets in the official directory displays availability by plan. Connector by connector, the answer is not published anywhere: it is a real gap in the catalogue.

What is published is the general rule: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables the connector for the organization before each member signs in. Check its sheet in the official directory for the current status. Only Entendre documents this connector; no Claude help article covers it.

Limits

Where this connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you; nothing posts an entry on its own when a transaction arrives.

The tool list is an observed floor, not a promise: an administrator can open actions that no public sheet shows. The partner badge is not a security audit either, and Anthropic states on every sheet that it does not choose the tools a publisher exposes or guarantee their behavior. Connect what comes from a publisher you trust. Another gap noted on 1 October 2026: the sheet names the server mcp.entendre.finance, while Entendre's docs name mcp.entendre.ai.

FAQ

Questions about the Claude Entendre connector

01What can Claude do with the Entendre connector?
Claude can work on your Entendre accounting data from a conversation. It uses three tools in sequence: one lists the available API operations, one reads how a given operation works, and one runs JavaScript that calls those operations. Entendre's own sample requests include last month's profit and loss for a legal entity and this month's unclassified transactions. According to the directory sheet, the scope also covers balances, classification, journal entries and reports.
02Can Claude change data or create entries in Entendre?
Yes, through one tool. execute_code runs code that calls Entendre's operations to read or change data, and the directory sheet mentions classifying activity and creating journal entries. The other two tools only explore the available operations. Entendre asks you to review every change Claude proposes before you approve it. Every request runs with your own Entendre permissions, nothing more. Owners of a Team or Enterprise workspace can also close writing entirely.
03Does Claude ask before changing my accounting data?
Yes. Entendre tells users to review each proposed change in their AI client before approving it, and Claude's default rule is to ask before any action it takes on an account for you. For the two reading tools, no source describes an extra confirmation. On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether members may let some actions through without a new prompt, and can restrict what the connector does for everyone.
04Which Claude plans is the Entendre connector available on?
No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, and none of the 819 directory sheets displays it. The general rule is that remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, with an Owner or Primary Owner enabling them first on Team and Enterprise. Entendre's documentation names no Claude plan. The connector's sheet in the official directory is the only place that shows its current status for your account.
05Does Claude see every organization in our Entendre account?
No. Each connection is tied to the single organization you pick when you sign in, and every request runs with your own Entendre permissions. To work with a second organization, Entendre says to add a second connection. Within that organization, Claude reaches only what your account can already open. On the Claude side, an owner of your workspace can further restrict what the connector may do for everyone in the team.
06Why does Claude call three tools for one simple question?
Because that is how Entendre's connector is built. Instead of one tool per task, it gives Claude a catalogue of API operations, a way to read each operation's inputs, and a tool that runs code calling them. For a P&L request, Claude typically browses the catalogue, opens the right operation, then runs it. It looks verbose in the conversation, but the actual change, if any, only happens in the last step, which you review.
07Claude or an automation tool for Entendre?
They cover different needs, so choose by task rather than by ranking. Claude fits ad hoc requests in a conversation: a report for one entity, a list of transactions to classify, a balance explained. It only acts while you are talking to it, and changes go through your review. An automation platform fits repeated flows that run without you, like a scheduled sync between two systems. Nothing in this connector runs on its own between two conversations.
