Overview

Why plug Campfire into Claude

Finance questions rarely fit a saved report: what did marketing spend with one vendor last quarter, how does cash flow compare with budget, which receivables are aging. With the connector, you ask in plain English and Claude picks the matching Campfire data, filters it by date, entity or department, and explains the answer in the chat.

Statements on demand. Ask for last quarter's profit and loss: income_statement generates it for the period and cadence you name, and balance_sheet or cash_flow_statement complete the picture before a board meeting.

A spending question, answered from the ledger. get_transactions searches general ledger entries by vendor, account, department, tag or date range, and get_vendors adds the payee's details, so Claude can explain where the money went.

Collections without a spreadsheet. get_aging produces payables or receivables aging by bucket, which Claude can summarize into a short list of who to chase.

What it won't do: post a journal entry, pay a vendor or change a budget. Campfire describes all twelve tools as retrieving or generating data, and by default the sheet only exposes reading. Nothing runs on its own either: no report lands at month end unless you ask. Scheduled exports belong to an automation tool, a different trade; the Integrations hub covers that side.

The shared standard connectors are built on: it is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service such as Campfire.
Connect

Connect Campfire to Claude in three steps

  1. 01

    Find Campfire in Claude

In Claude's settings, open Customize, then Connectors, and look for Campfire in the list. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner has to switch the connector on before each member can link it.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Click Connect on its row, then sign in to Campfire in the window Campfire opens itself. If the link breaks one day, Disconnect and plug it back in from the same row.

  3. 03

    Read the authorization screen

Read Campfire's screen before you accept it. It belongs to Campfire, not Claude, and decides what the access covers. Access granted there can also be withdrawn later from your Campfire account.

What Claude reads (12)

12 tools

Twelve tools that retrieve records or build reports without changing your books.

get_accounts

Retrieves your chart of accounts, filtered by type, subtype or a search term when needed. Claude gets the account list it must reason with before touching any number.

When it helps
you want every account with cash in its name, or all asset accounts, before a reconciliation.

Sourcedocs.campfire.ai · June 2, 2026 ↗

get_aging

Generates payables or receivables aging, broken down into age buckets, so overdue amounts show up by how late they are.

When it helps
a Monday check of which customers owe the most and for how long, before you pick up the phone to call them.

Sourcedocs.campfire.ai · June 2, 2026 ↗

get_budgets

Returns budget records with their entity and time-period metadata, which Claude can then line up against actual figures from the statements.

When it helps
mid-year, you want to see how each entity tracks against the budget it was given, entity by entity, without exporting anything.

Sourcedocs.campfire.ai · June 2, 2026 ↗

get_contracts

Retrieves revenue recognition contracts with their performance obligations, the building blocks of how revenue gets recognized over time.

When it helps
an auditor asks which active contracts still carry open obligations at quarter end, and you want the list before the meeting rather than during it.

Sourcedocs.campfire.ai · June 2, 2026 ↗

get_departments

Brings back the department hierarchy, cost centers and business units, so Claude can group or filter figures the way your organization is structured.

When it helps
you need the list of departments before asking what the marketing cost center spent.

Sourcedocs.campfire.ai · June 2, 2026 ↗

get_entities

Lists the entities on your chart: parent companies, subsidiaries and locations. Claude needs them to scope a question to one company or consolidate several.

When it helps
a group with three subsidiaries wants figures for one of them only, not the consolidated total.

Sourcedocs.campfire.ai · June 2, 2026 ↗

get_tags

Retrieves the transaction tags your team uses as custom dimensions for analysis, so a question can be cut along those same lines.

When it helps
spending is tagged by project and you want to know which tag a campaign was filed under before searching.

Sourcedocs.campfire.ai · June 2, 2026 ↗

get_transactions

Searches general ledger entries with filters on entity, account, vendor, department, tag and date range, returning the ledger lines that match your question.

When it helps
you want every transaction with one supplier last month, or everything booked to the marketing department.

Sourcedocs.campfire.ai · June 2, 2026 ↗

get_vendors

Returns your vendor and payee directory with contact details and status, the who behind each payment.

When it helps
a transaction shows a vendor name you don't recognize and you want its contact details and whether it is still active.

Sourcedocs.campfire.ai · June 2, 2026 ↗

balance_sheet

Generates a balance sheet showing assets, liabilities and equity, as Campfire computes it from your books.

When it helps
a lender asks for a snapshot at the end of last month and you want a first look before exporting the official version.

Sourcedocs.campfire.ai · June 2, 2026 ↗

cash_flow_statement

Generates cash flow split into operating, investing and financing activities, so Claude can explain where cash came from and where it went.

When it helps
the last six months burned more cash than planned and you want the breakdown by activity.

Sourcedocs.campfire.ai · June 2, 2026 ↗

income_statement

Produces a profit and loss statement for the periods you specify, with a monthly, quarterly or yearly cadence. Claude can then set the periods side by side and explain what moved.

When it helps
preparing a board deck, you want quarterly profit and loss for the year side by side.

Approvals

What Claude asks before it acts

By default, Claude stops and asks for your go-ahead before any action it takes on an account on your behalf. Here, every tool on the sheet reads or generates data, so no change to your books waits for approval.

Campfire adds two points. Results are always scoped to your organization, the one tied to your access. And your data is only accessed when you explicitly ask for it through the assistant. On Team and Enterprise, owners decide whether members can let some actions through without being asked each time, and they can limit what a connector may do for the whole organization; nobody overrides that from their own account. Claude works with the connected person's rights, nothing more.

Plans

Which plans it's available on

Among the 819 sheets in the official directory, not one shows plan availability. For any single connector the answer goes unpublished: a real gap in the catalogue.

The general rule, though, is public: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner switches the connector on for the organization before members can link it. To know where Campfire stands for your account, open the connector's sheet in the official directory, the only place that shows its current state.

Limits

Where this connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you: no statement is generated at month end and no alert fires on a large transaction.

Everything Campfire-specific here comes from Campfire's documentation; no Claude help article covers this connector. A tool list that only shows reading is an observed floor, not a guarantee, since an admin can open actions that no public sheet shows; by default, this sheet exposes reading only. The directory badge isn't a security audit, and Anthropic writes on every sheet that it doesn't control a publisher's tools. The same structure is used on the Claude affinity connector page.

FAQ

Claude Campfire connector: frequently asked questions

01What can Claude do with the Campfire connector?
Claude can query your Campfire accounting data in plain English. Its twelve tools retrieve the chart of accounts, general ledger transactions, vendors, entities, departments, tags, budgets and revenue recognition contracts, and generate an aging report, a balance sheet, a cash flow statement and an income statement for the periods you choose. Claude then explains, compares or summarizes the results in the conversation, for example to prepare figures for a board meeting or answer a spending question.
02Can Claude post entries or change my books in Campfire?
Not with the tools on its sheet. Campfire describes all twelve as retrieving or generating data, from ledger searches to financial statements, and none as creating a journal entry, paying a vendor or editing a budget. So Claude reads and reports, and your books stay as they are. Keep in mind that a reading-only list is an observed floor rather than a promise, since an admin can open actions no public sheet shows; by default, this sheet exposes reading only.
03Does Claude ask before it reads my Campfire data?
Claude's general rule is to ask for confirmation before any action that changes an account on your behalf. Every Campfire tool here only reads or generates reports, so there is no change to confirm. Campfire adds that your data is only accessed when you explicitly request it through the assistant. On Team and Enterprise, owners decide whether members may let some actions through without a prompt, and they can restrict what the connector does for everyone.
04Which plans is it available on?
No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, and no directory sheet displays it. The general rule says remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner must switch the connector on for the organization before members can link it. To check Campfire for your own account, the connector's sheet in the official directory is the only place showing its current state.
05Does Claude see all of our Campfire data?
It sees the data of the organization tied to your access, and Campfire warns that this access covers your Campfire data in full. Results are always scoped to that organization, so another company's books stay out of reach. More generally, Claude works with the rights of the person who connected it and nothing more. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an owner can also restrict what the connector may do for the whole organization.
06Can the Campfire connector build a board deck?
Campfire's sheet mentions creating board decks from your data, but no tool on the list is described as producing a deck. What the tools give Claude is the material: income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, budgets and aging, for the periods you choose. Claude can then summarize the figures and draft the narrative in the conversation. Turning that into slides is a separate step, outside what the Campfire tools document.
07Claude or an automation tool for Campfire?
They don't do the same job, so it depends on the task. Claude answers finance questions during a conversation: you ask, it pulls the data, explains it, then waits for the next question. It doesn't send a report at month end or react to a transaction on its own. For scheduled exports or alerts that run in the background, an automation tool is the right trade. For ad hoc analysis in plain English, the connector fits.
