Overview

Why plug G2 into Claude

G2 records which companies research your product and which competitors they compare it with. With this connector you ask Claude in plain words, and it queries G2 while it answers: which accounts show intent, which rivals they look at, how your category is structured. It is a reading tool for sales and marketing, not a way to change anything on G2.

A prioritised account list. Before a pipeline review, browse_product_buyer_intent returns the buyer intent G2 holds for one of your products, so Claude can tell you which companies to call first.

A clear view of who you are up against. browse_competitive_intelligence analyses competitor evaluation activity, which feeds a battlecard or the talking points of a pre-call brief.

The catalogue at your fingertips. list_products, show_product, list_categories and show_category browse and detail the products and categories G2 lists, while list_my_products shows the ones your account owns.

Now what the directory listing does not tell you. Two review tools on the sheet appear in no table of G2's documentation, so this page says nothing about them. The data you reach depends on your G2 subscription and entitlements, Market Intelligence reviews on a specific G2 package, and G2 caps the shared API at 100 requests per second. Nothing runs on its own either: Claude reads G2 only when you ask. The site has no n8n, Make or Zapier page for G2; the Integrations hub lists the apps that have one.

Vocabulary

Five words to know before you start

The vocabulary you will meet once G2 is connected to Claude.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already own, so Claude can work with it while it answers you.
Tool
One named job a connector gives Claude. Claude picks the ones it needs by itself; the directory lists them by name.
Authorization
The service's own sign-in screen, where you hand Claude the access it will use. Granted once per person, revocable the same way.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before it goes ahead with an action that changes an account, shown in the chat.
MCP
The shared standard connectors are built on: it is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service.
Connect

Connect G2 to Claude in three steps

  1. 01

Find G2 in the connector list

Open Claude's settings, go to Customize, then Connectors, and look for G2. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner must enable it before members can sign in.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Click Connect on its row, then sign in to G2 in the window G2 opens itself. If the link breaks later, use Disconnect and connect again; access can also be withdrawn from your G2 account.

  3. 03

    Read the authorization screen

Read G2's screen before you accept. It belongs to the service, not to Claude, and it can list broader permissions than Claude uses day to day. Then start a new chat and ask about one of your products.

browse_competitive_intelligence

Analyses which competitors prospects evaluate alongside your product, as G2 records it. Claude gets the comparison activity and can turn it into a short read on who you meet most often.

When it helps
a product marketer refreshes the battlecard against the rival that keeps showing up in lost deals.
Watch out
what you see depends on your G2 subscription and entitlements.

Undocumented (2)

2 tools

The directory lists these two names, and G2's tool table does not. No official text says what they do, and this page will not guess from a name.

list_product_reviews

This name is on the directory sheet, and that is all that is known. G2's tool table names other review tools and never this one, and no Claude page covers it, so the page says nothing more.

Watch out
whatever it does, the general approval rule below applies to it.

show_product_review

Same gap here: listed in the directory, absent from G2's documentation and from every Claude page: no official source documents it. Rather than fill the hole with a guess drawn from the name, the page leaves it open.

Watch out
it falls under the same approval rule as every other tool in the list.
Approvals

What Claude asks before it acts

By default, Claude stops and asks before each action it carries out on an account in your place. The request shows up in the chat.

With G2, the documented tools only read data, so the question rarely comes up; the two undocumented ones are covered by that same default rule. On Team and Enterprise, workspace owners decide whether members can let some actions through without a prompt, and they can limit what a connector may do for the whole organization. Claude also works with your G2 access and nothing beyond it: data your subscription does not include stays out of reach.

Plans

Which plans include it

None of the 819 sheets in the official directory shows availability by plan. That answer, connector by connector, is not published anywhere.

The general rule is public: remote connectors are open to every user on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, while desktop extensions install on Claude Desktop. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables a connector for the organization first. On G2's side, the data you get follows your G2 subscription. For the current status, open the G2 sheet in the official directory.

Limits

Where the G2 connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you; no alert fires when a new account starts researching your product.

Everything here comes from G2's own documentation: neither Claude's help center nor Anthropic's developer docs have a page on this connector. The directory badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic writes on every sheet that it does not control which tools a publisher exposes. G2's documentation also names tools that the sheet does not list, so the sheet is the reference for what Claude actually gets.

FAQ

Claude G2 connector: common questions

01What can Claude do with the G2 connector?
Claude can read G2 data while it answers you. Seven documented tools cover buyer intent for one of your products, competitor evaluation activity, the products your account owns, the full product catalogue, product details, the category list and category details. Two more tools about reviews appear on the directory sheet, but no official source describes them. G2 presents the whole thing as a way to identify and prioritize accounts from buyer data.
02Can Claude change anything in my G2 account?
By default, no tool on the directory sheet changes anything: the seven documented ones read data, and the two others are undocumented. That is an observed floor rather than a guarantee, because an admin can open actions no public sheet shows. G2's own documentation lists research board tools that create or delete content, but they are not on the sheet Claude reads, so they are not part of this connector today.
03Does Claude ask before using G2?
By default, Claude asks for confirmation before each action it takes on an account on your behalf. No source describes a G2-specific confirmation, and the documented tools only read, so the default rule is what applies, including to the two undocumented tools. On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether members can let some actions through without being asked, and they can restrict what the connector may do for the whole organization.
04Which Claude plans is the G2 connector available on?
No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, and none of the 819 directory sheets shows it. The general rule says remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner must enable the connector for the organization first. G2 adds its own condition: the data depends on your G2 subscription. For the current status, check the G2 sheet in the directory.
05Can Claude see all the data in my G2 account?
Claude sees what your G2 sign-in and your G2 entitlements allow, nothing more, and only when you ask a question that needs it. G2 says the data you reach depends on your subscription and entitlements, and that Market Intelligence review data needs a specific package. You also need products registered on G2 to get data scoped to your own product. If something is missing from Claude's answers, check your G2 access first: the connector cannot reach beyond it, whatever you ask.
06Why does Claude stop getting G2 data for a minute?
The G2 connector runs on the G2 API and shares its global rate limit of 100 requests per second. G2 says that when the limit is exceeded, access is blocked for 60 seconds before requests can resume. A long analysis that fires many queries in a row can hit that ceiling. If answers suddenly stop, wait a minute and ask again. That ceiling is not specific to Claude: it is the global limit of the G2 API, which the connector is subject to like any other access.
07Claude or an automation tool for G2 data?
They do different jobs. The Claude connector answers questions during a conversation: you ask who shows intent, Claude reads G2 at that moment and replies. It never pushes new intent signals to you on its own. An automation tool runs unattended scenarios once configured, for example on a schedule. The site has no n8n, Make or Zapier page for G2, so for that kind of recurring sync, check what each platform offers for this app.
