Claude LegalZoom connectorWhat Claude can do in your LegalZoom account.
The Claude LegalZoom connector exposes 8 tools. 4 read your access and the attorney calendar, 3 act on your account, 1 is undocumented. Here: how Claude gets you in front of a US attorney, what the attorney receives, the cart step, and where the tool lists disagree.

What changes when a legal question comes up
You are reading a vendor agreement with Claude and something looks risky. Instead of leaving the chat to find a lawyer, you ask Claude to check whether your LegalZoom coverage includes attorney consultations, find the right topic and state, and either message an attorney or book a call. The attorney gets the context of your conversation, so you do not explain twice.
Know where you stand. check-attorney-consultation-entitlements tells Claude whether your LegalZoom account includes attorney consultations.
Line up the right attorney. get_consultation_topics and get_valid_locations pin down the specialty and the US state where the matter applies, then get_attorney_availability lists open time slots.
Hand the matter over. request_attorney_review opens an asynchronous message thread with an attorney or books a phone consultation, and attach_document_to_attorney_review adds a file to an existing written review.
Now what the page owes you. This is a US service: attorney matching works by US state. The attorney receives the full conversation context, documents and Claude's analysis included, so think about what you shared before you send. If you are not covered, LegalZoom's own instructions point Claude to add-bap-to-cart, which puts its Business Attorney Plan in a cart and returns a checkout link; it does not pay. And nothing runs by itself: no deadline or contract date wakes Claude up. The Integrations hub lists the rest of the family.
The vocabulary in one minute
Five words you will meet when you set it up.
- Connector
- The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already have, so Claude can use it while it answers you.
- Tool
- One named action a connector opens to Claude. Claude decides which to call; the directory lists every tool by its name.
- Authorization
- LegalZoom's own sign-in screen, where you give Claude the access it will use. Given once per person, and you can withdraw it.
- Approval
- The confirmation Claude waits for before it completes an action that changes your account, shown in the chat when it matters.
- MCP
- The shared standard connectors are built on: it lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service such as LegalZoom.
Connect LegalZoom to Claude in three steps
- 01
Find LegalZoom in Claude
Open Customize, then Connectors, and look for LegalZoom. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner enables the connector for the organization before members can each connect.
- 02
Start the connection
Click Connect on its row and sign in to LegalZoom in the window it opens. If the connection half-fails or breaks later, Disconnect, then connect again and finish every sign-in prompt.
- 03
Check what you authorize
Read the authorization screen before accepting. It is LegalZoom's screen, not Claude's, and it sets what the access covers. You can remove that access later from your LegalZoom account too.
The 8 tools, sorted by what they do
LegalZoom gives Claude 8 tools: 4 that read your account, 3 that change something in it, and 1 no official source describes.
Four that read, three that act, one nobody documents. Names stay in English, as Claude shows them.

What Claude reads (4)
4 toolsFour tools that check your coverage and the attorney calendar without changing anything.
check-attorney-consultation-entitlements
Finds out whether your LegalZoom account includes attorney consultations. According to LegalZoom, a covered account gets unlimited consultations on new legal matters, and Claude then offers to connect you.
get_consultation_topics
Lists the legal specialties LegalZoom attorneys cover, such as contracts, business formation, intellectual property or employment law, so the request lands with the right kind of attorney.
get_valid_locations
Returns the US state codes LegalZoom accepts for matching. The state that counts is the one where the legal matter applies, not where you happen to be sitting.
get_attorney_availability
Shows when attorneys are free for a consultation on a given topic and state, grouped by day. By default it looks at the next 3 days and can look further ahead on request.
What Claude changes (3)
3 toolsThree tools that act on your LegalZoom account. No source describes a confirmation for any of them, so the general rule below applies.
request_attorney_review
Approval: see the ruleConnects you with an attorney, either through asynchronous messaging, open in any valid state with no booking, or through a scheduled phone call. The attorney receives your questions, documents and Claude's analysis.
attach_document_to_attorney_review
Approval: see the ruleAdds a newly uploaded file to a written review already opened in the same conversation. LegalZoom limits it to that case: it does not serve a phone consultation that is already booked.
add-bap-to-cart
Approval: see the rulePuts LegalZoom's Business Attorney Plan in a cart and returns a checkout link for you to complete the purchase yourself.
Undocumented (1)
1 toolThe directory publishes this name and nothing more. No official text says what it does, and this page will not guess from a name.
prepare_document_upload
This name appears in the directory's tool list and nowhere else. Neither LegalZoom's guide nor its public catalog describes it, and no Claude page mentions it, so this page says nothing more about it.
The general approval rule below applies to it as well.
What Claude asks before it acts
By default, Claude stops and asks before any action it takes on an account for you. Here that rule covers three tools: the review request, the document attachment and the cart.
On a Team or Enterprise workspace, owners decide whether members can let some actions through without being asked every time. They can also limit what a connector may do for the whole organization, such as allowing lookups and blocking anything that acts, and nobody overrides that from their own account. Claude works with your LegalZoom access and nothing more, and LegalZoom adds that authorization never overrides product, plan or jurisdiction requirements. The official read-only versus write labels per tool live only in a connected account's settings.
Which plans it is on
None of the 819 sheets in the official directory shows availability per plan. Connector by connector, that answer is published nowhere.
The general rule is published: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables a connector for the organization before members can connect. That rule is about Claude; LegalZoom's own services have their own conditions. For the current state of this connector, check its sheet in the official directory from your account.
Where this connector stops
A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you: no signature date, renewal or court deadline starts anything by itself.
The tool list is an observed floor, not a ceiling: an administrator could open more than any public page shows. The partner badge in the directory is not a security audit, and Anthropic states on every sheet that it neither picks the tools a publisher exposes nor guarantees they behave as described. Only LegalZoom documents this connector; Claude's help center has no page on it. Even the tool lists of the directory and of LegalZoom's own catalog differ, as shown below.
Which tools does LegalZoom expose to Claude?
- Claude directory sheet ↗October 20268 tools, including prepare_document_upload, check-attorney-consultation-entitlements and add-bap-to-cart.
- LegalZoom public tool catalog, Claude version 1 ↗October 20269 tools for Claude: the entitlement and cart tools spelled with underscores, an upload tool under another name, and an attorney profile tool absent from the sheet.
What this page followsBoth lists are from the same day and do not match. Two gaps are only a matter of hyphens versus underscores; the others are real naming differences. LegalZoom's guide says tool sets change by client and version, so the list Claude shows in your own account is the one to trust.
