Overview

What changes once Claude can reach The L Suite

The L Suite is a members-only community of in-house counsel. Its directory sheet speaks of 5,000+ members, 2,000+ yearly discussion threads, 300+ playbooks and 10,000 pieces of feedback on outside counsel and vendors. With Lloyd connected, you ask Claude a legal-ops question and it goes digging in that material for you, then answers with the sources it used.

Get a peer view before you decide. Before a decision, you ask Claude what comparable legal teams did. It runs get_peer_insights and comes back with cited guidance, benchmarks or shared documents, narrowed by practice area, company stage or matter type.

Shortlist vendors your peers actually use. Need a contract management tool for a regulated fintech? find_vendors returns options recommended by members, matched to your company profile, regulatory context and team size.

Pull templates and examples. The same insights tool also surfaces documents members have shared, so a document a member shared can land in the chat next to the answer.

What Claude will not do here: by default the sheet lists reading only, so nothing gets posted to the community on your behalf. Some uses the publisher advertises (pointing you to peers to contact, spotting issues in a contract) are not tied to a named tool. And nothing runs on its own: Claude only calls Lloyd while it answers you. For the wider picture of how we document integrations, see the Integrations hub.

Vocabulary

Five words to know first

The vocabulary Claude uses around Lloyd, kept short.

Connector
A link you set up once between Claude and an account you already hold, so Claude can work with it while it answers you.
Tool
One named capability the connector gives Claude. Claude picks the ones it needs mid-answer; the directory lists them by name.
Authorization
The service's own sign-in screen, where you grant the access Claude will use. Given once per person, and you can withdraw it.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before it does something that changes an account, shown in the chat when it matters.
MCP
The shared standard connectors are built on, the piece that lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service.
Connect

Connect Lloyd to Claude in three steps

  1. 01

    Find Lloyd in your connectors

Open Claude's settings, go to Customize then Connectors, and look for Lloyd by The L Suite. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner enables it before members can each sign in.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Hit Connect on its row, then sign in to The L Suite in the window the service opens. Use the email tied to your membership. If the link breaks later, Disconnect and connect again.

  3. 03

    Check what you are granting

Read the authorization screen before accepting. It belongs to The L Suite, not to Claude, and it sets what the access covers. You can also revoke that access later from the service side.

Tools

The 2 tools, both on the reading side

Lloyd by The L Suite gives Claude 2 tools: 2 that read your account, 0 that change something in it.

Two tools, both documented by the publisher. Their names stay exactly as Claude shows them.

Both look things up in the community's material and change nothing in your account.

get_peer_insights

Searches what members have contributed across The L Suite and brings back guidance, benchmarks or shared documents, each answer cited. Results can be narrowed by practice area, company profile, stage or type of matter.

When it helps
you are setting an outside counsel budget and want to know what comparable legal teams spend.
Watch out
a vague question can come back empty; the publisher advises naming the practice area, company stage and matter type together.

find_vendors

Returns vendors that members recommend, from contract management to e-signature, privacy or legal ops software. The list is matched to a company's profile, its regulatory context and the size of its team.

When it helps
procurement asks for three e-signature options a company your size already trusts.

Approvals

What Claude checks with you first

By default, Claude stops and asks for confirmation before any action it takes on an account in someone's place.

Both Lloyd tools look things up, and no source says whether Claude asks before running get_peer_insights or find_vendors, so the default rule is what covers them. On Team and Enterprise, workspace owners decide whether members may let certain actions through without a prompt each time. They can also cap what a connector does for the whole organization, and nobody lifts that cap from a personal account. Claude works with your own rights in The L Suite and nothing more.

Plans

Which plans this works on

Plan availability is not published connector by connector anywhere: 0 of the 819 directory sheets shows it.

The published rule is general. Remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, and on Team and Enterprise an Owner or Primary Owner turns a connector on before members connect. The L Suite's own setup document names a narrower requirement; the limits section quotes it next to Anthropic's rule. For the live state on your account, open the Lloyd sheet in the official directory.

Limits

Where Lloyd stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls Lloyd while it answers you, so no peer thread or new vendor review pushes anything into your chat on its own.

By default the sheet exposes reading only, and that is an observed floor, not a guarantee: an administrator can open actions no public sheet shows. Only the publisher documents this connector; no Claude help page covers it, so every detail here traces back to The L Suite's own setup document. The partner badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic says on every sheet that it does not choose the tools a publisher exposes or vouch for how they behave.

Two official sources disagree

Which Claude plans can use Lloyd?

What this page followsNeither side is outdated, and they do not cover the same thing: Anthropic states a rule for every connector, The L Suite speaks about Lloyd alone. It is the publisher talking, not Anthropic, so check the directory sheet on your own account before relying on either.

FAQ

Questions about the Claude Lloyd by The L Suite connector

01What can Claude do with the Lloyd by The L Suite connector?
With Lloyd, Claude searches The L Suite community and answers with cited material. One tool pulls peer insights, guidance, benchmarks and shared documents, filterable by practice area, company profile, stage or matter type. The other returns vendors that members recommend, matched to your company's profile, regulatory context and team size. The publisher also advertises outside counsel recommendations and contract issue spotting, though it does not tie those uses to either tool by name.
02Can Claude post or change anything in The L Suite?
Not with what the directory lists today: both tools look information up and neither is described as writing. That is a floor, not a promise. An administrator can open actions that no public sheet shows, so a read-only list today does not guarantee the same list tomorrow. If you see new tools appear on the directory sheet for your account, read their descriptions before relying on this answer. Today, both look things up and nothing else.
03Does Claude ask before it uses Lloyd?
By default Claude asks for confirmation before any action it takes on an account in someone's place. No source describes a confirmation specific to either Lloyd tool, so that default rule is the reference. On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether members may skip the prompt for certain actions, and they can restrict what the connector may do for the entire organization in a way no member can override.
04Which plans is Lloyd available on?
No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, and none of the 819 directory sheets shows it. The general rule says remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, with an Owner enabling them first on Team and Enterprise. The L Suite's setup document states a narrower requirement, quoted in the limits section of this page. The directory sheet on your account shows the current state.
05Does Claude see everything in my L Suite account?
No, Claude works with the rights of the person who connected and nothing beyond. It reaches what your own membership already lets you open. The L Suite also requires every lawyer and legal ops professional on your team to be a member, and each member team gets its own connection address. On top of that, an owner on a Team or Enterprise workspace can narrow what the connector may do for everyone.
06Why does Claude sometimes answer without using Lloyd?
The L Suite says it happens: Claude may not call the Lloyd tools even when the question fits. The publisher's advice is to name it explicitly, starting your request with "Using Lloyd", and to check that the connector is switched on for the current conversation in the composer. When a search returns nothing, it suggests adding the practice area, company stage and matter type to make the request more specific.
07Should I use Claude or an automation tool with The L Suite?
They do different jobs, so pick by use rather than by ranking. Claude with Lloyd fits a question asked in conversation: you want peer guidance or a vendor shortlist now, with sources. An automation tool fits work that should run without anyone asking, on a schedule or after an event. Lloyd does neither of those on its own: Claude calls its tools only while answering you, so every peer insight or vendor list starts with a question you ask in the chat.
