Claude Lucid connectorWhat Claude can do in your Lucid account.
The Claude Lucid connector exposes 11 tools: 3 read, 5 write, 3 undocumented. Claude can find and summarise your Lucid documents, draw new diagrams from a description and share them with colleagues. Here is what each tool does, what Lucid's admin must allow, and where the sources disagree.

Why connect Lucid to Claude
Diagrams hold a lot of a team's knowledge, but they are hard to search and slow to draw. With Lucid connected, Claude can look through the documents you already have access to, explain what a board says, and produce a first version of a flowchart, an org chart or a sequence diagram straight from the conversation, with a preview and a link to open it in Lucid.
Find the right board and get its gist. You ask which documents mention the website redesign project. Claude runs search, then fetch on the best match to summarise its content and read its metadata.
Turn a list into a chart. Paste a CSV or a text list of employees and lucid_create_org_chart builds the org chart; lucid_create_sequence_diagram does the same job for PlantUML markup.
Hand it over. share_document_with_collaborators invites people by email, while lucid_create_document_share_link produces a link to drop in a chat.
What it will not do: Lucid says generated diagrams are static, so they do not refresh when your source data changes, and Claude never reaches documents owned by users outside your Lucid account. Nothing runs on a schedule either: Claude works only while it answers you. If you want a diagram rebuilt from a spreadsheet without asking, that is a job for an automation platform, and the Integrations hub lists the ones we cover.
Five words before you connect
The Claude vocabulary around this connector, in one minute.
- Connector
- The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already own, so Claude can work in it while it answers you.
- Tool
- One named thing the connector lets Claude do. Claude picks the ones it needs by itself; the directory sheet lists all eleven.
- Authorization
- Lucid's own sign-in screen, where you grant Claude the access it uses afterwards. Given once, per person, and revocable.
- Approval
- The confirmation Claude waits for before changing something in your account, shown in the conversation at the right time.
- MCP
- The shared standard connectors are built on: it is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service such as Lucid.
Set up the Claude Lucid connector in three steps
- 01
Find Lucid in Claude
Open Claude's settings, go to Customize, then Connectors, and search for Lucid. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner has to enable the connector for the organisation before each member can sign in.
- 02
Start the connection
Click Connect on its row, then sign in to Lucid in the window Lucid opens itself. Lucid adds that a new capability needs a fresh authorization: Disconnect, then connect again.
- 03
Check the authorization screen
Read Lucid's authorization screen before accepting. It belongs to the service, not to Claude, and it decides what the access covers. According to Lucid, the server then reaches only the documents you are already allowed to open.
The 11 tools, sorted by what they do
Lucid gives Claude 11 tools: 3 that read your account, 5 that change something in it, and 3 no official source describes.
Three tools read, five create or share, and three are described by no source. Names stay exactly as Claude shows them.

What Claude reads (3)
3 toolsThree tools that search, open or export your documents without changing them.
search
Looks through the Lucid documents you can open for a topic or a phrase and returns the ones that match, so you do not have to remember a title.
fetch
Pulls the content and details of one document: what it contains, an image of it, and its metadata. Lucid describes the result as something Claude summarises for you.
lucid_export_document_as_PNG
Produces a PNG image of a Lucid document so you can drop the picture into a slide, an email or a ticket. The original document stays as it is.
What Claude creates or shares (5)
5 toolsFive tools that create diagrams or open access to a document. No source describes a confirmation for them: the general rule below applies.
lucid_create_document_share_link
Approval: see the ruleGenerates a shareable link for a document, for instance with view-only permissions, that anyone you give it to can open.
share_document_with_collaborators
Approval: see the ruleAdds named people to a document by email address, with the level of access you choose, up to full editing rights.
lucid_create_org_chart
Approval: see the ruleCreates an org chart from a CSV file or a text description of employees. Lucid notes the result is a static chart, not one linked to your HR data.
lucid_create_diagram_from_specification
Approval: see the ruleDraws a new diagram in Lucid from what you describe in plain words, such as a process flow or a user authentication path. Claude shows a preview with an option to open it in Lucid.
lucid_create_sequence_diagram
Approval: see the ruleGenerates a UML sequence diagram in Lucid from PlantUML markup you paste into the conversation, turning text syntax into a visual you can edit.
Not documented (3)
3 toolsListed on the directory sheet, but no official source explains them. Nothing here is a capability.
lucid_create_mind_map
No official source describes this tool. The directory sheet lists its name and nothing else, so whether it reads or changes anything is unknown. Claude's general approval rule, explained below, is the only reference, and no prompt specific to it is described.
_lucid_create_embed
Neither Lucid nor Anthropic documents this entry. Only its name appears, on the directory sheet, and nothing in any source says whether it reads or changes anything in your account. Refer to Claude's general approval rule further down this page.
_lucid_create_embed_session_token
The sources are silent on this one as well: the sheet publishes the name and nothing more, and no Lucid article covers it. Its effect on your documents is therefore unknown, and the default approval rule below is all that applies.
What Claude asks before acting
By default, Claude stops and asks before any action it takes on an account on your behalf. No source describes a prompt specific to Lucid's tools.
On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether members may let certain actions through without a fresh prompt, and they can restrict what a connector may do for the whole organisation, keeping reads open and closing writes for instance. Claude also works with your rights and nothing more: Lucid says the server reaches only the documents you can already open, including their titles, content, comments and metadata.
Which plans include it
None of the 819 sheets in the official directory shows availability by plan. Connector by connector, the answer is published nowhere.
The general rule is public: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner opens a connector for the organisation before members connect. For this one's current status, check its sheet in the official Claude directory. Lucid alone documents this connector; no Claude help page covers it.
Where this connector stops
A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you; nothing redraws a diagram on its own when your data moves.
The directory's partner badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic says on every sheet that it does not choose a publisher's tools or guarantee they behave as described. Lucid also publishes a separate read-only version of its server, limited to search and view permissions. And Lucid says its server acts as a pass-through: it keeps no document content, prompts or queries. Other apps and their connectors are listed on the Integrations hub.
Can Claude edit an existing Lucid document through this connector?
- Lucid Community, post by Lucid's support team ↗2026-09-08Lists editing, adding or deleting shapes, moving and renaming folders and documents, and replying to comments among the supported uses; support later called the list exhaustive.
- Claude directory sheet ↗2026-10-01Shows 11 tools, and none carries a name tied to editing shapes, managing folders or answering comments.
What this page followsLucid describes its server for every AI client and adds that new capabilities need a fresh authorization; the sheet shows what is published for Claude. Neither settles it for your account: reconnect Lucid and look at the tool list Claude displays.
