Overview

Know who you're dealing with before you call back

An unknown number keeps calling, a sender poses as your bank, a short link hides where it leads. With Malwarebytes connected, Claude runs each item against the publisher's threat intelligence and returns one of four verdicts: malicious, suspicious, safe or unknown. Per Malwarebytes, you don't need an account with them.

Unmask a fake call. The phone check says whether a number is tied to scams or suspicious activity, with additional information on the number.

Break down an email in one pass. The message holds a link, a phone number and a sender address. The batch scan checks them together and returns one unified result. Malwarebytes adds that Claude can pull these items out of a screenshot too.

Size up a brand-new domain. reputation-whois returns registration data (registrar, dates, abuse contact). The service presents it as useful for spotting newly registered domains, common in phishing and scams.

What the connector won't do: it isn't a reverse phone directory or a web search engine. An "unknown" verdict doesn't mean "safe". Per Malwarebytes, only the items you share are sent for analysis. And nothing runs in the background, so Claude only checks what you show it. Always-on filtering is a different job, covered by the tools on the Integrations hub.

Vocabulary

Words to know before connecting Malwarebytes

Five terms, explained once.

Connector
The bridge you set up once between Claude and a service you already use, so Claude can work with it while answering you.
Tool
A named capability the connector opens to Claude. Claude picks what it needs on its own; the directory sheet lists every one.
Authorization
The service's own screen where you hand Claude the access it will use. Granted once per person, and revocable.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before an action that changes something in an account, shown in the chat at the right moment.
MCP
The open standard connectors are built on: it lets an assistant like Claude hold a conversation with an outside service.
Connect

Connect the Claude Malwarebytes connector

  1. 01

    Find Malwarebytes in Claude

In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, and spot Malwarebytes. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner enables it for the organization first; each member then connects on their own.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Click Connect on the Malwarebytes row, then follow the window the service opens. If the link ever breaks, hit Disconnect and connect again from the same row.

  3. 03

    Read the authorization screen

Go through the authorization screen before you accept. It belongs to the service, not to Claude, and it sets what the access covers. You can also take that access back later from the service itself.

Approvals

What Claude asks before reporting

By default, Claude stops and asks for your go-ahead before each action it takes on an account for you. For reputation-report, the only tool that sends anything out, no source describes a specific confirmation on Claude's side.

On Team and Enterprise, workspace owners decide whether a member may let certain actions through without being asked again. They can also limit what Malwarebytes may do for the whole organization, keeping reading open and closing writes for example, with a setting nobody bypasses from their own account. Finally, Claude works with the connected person's rights: what that person can't reach, Claude can't reach either.

Plans

Which plans include it

None of the 819 directory sheets shows plan availability. Connector by connector, that information isn't published anywhere: it's a real gap in the catalogue.

The general rule is public: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, while desktop extensions install on Claude Desktop. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner opens the connector for the organization first. The limits section quotes the publisher too. For the current status on your account, the only reference is the Malwarebytes sheet in the official directory, which the button on this page opens.

Limits

Where Malwarebytes stops inside Claude

A connector isn't an automation: Claude calls these tools while answering you, and none of them screens your calls or email continuously. Only Malwarebytes, the publisher, documents this connector.

The tool list is an observed floor, not a promise: an admin can open capabilities that appear on no public sheet. The directory badge isn't a security audit, and Anthropic notes on every sheet that it doesn't control a publisher's tools. A connected community connector has exactly the same access as any other. On data, Malwarebytes says it stores neither your messages nor your personal information. Other connectors are gathered on the Claude connectors page.

Two official sources disagree

Can every Claude plan use the Malwarebytes connector?

What this page followsBoth texts point the same way but cover different ground: Anthropic's rule applies to every connector, while Malwarebytes speaks about this one, as the publisher. Neither is stale, and neither settles it for your account: check the directory sheet on your own account.

FAQ

Claude Malwarebytes connector: common questions

01What can Claude do with the Malwarebytes connector?
Claude can check a link, a phone number, an email address or a domain against Malwarebytes' threat intelligence. Each check returns one of four verdicts: malicious, suspicious, safe or unknown. It can also check everything at once when a message carries several items, read a domain's registration data, and report a suspicious item to Malwarebytes. The publisher adds that Claude can pull links and numbers out of a screenshot before checking them, which saves you from retyping anything.
02Can Claude send anything to Malwarebytes?
Yes, one tool sends data out: reputation-report, which submits a link, email address or phone number to Malwarebytes' analysis system. According to the publisher, only that item travels, with no personal data or conversation content. The other five tools query the database without adding to it. No source describes a tool that deletes anything, but a tool list stays an observed floor rather than a guarantee, since an admin can open more.
03Does Claude ask before reporting a scam?
No source describes a confirmation specific to reputation-report on Claude's side, so the default rule applies: Claude asks before each action it takes on an account for you. Malwarebytes' service adds that the tool should only run when the user explicitly requests it, never to flag every checked item automatically. On Team or Enterprise, an owner can also shut reporting off for the whole organization, for every member at once.
04Which Claude plans support the Malwarebytes connector?
No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, and the directory sheet doesn't show it. The general rule says remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, with an Owner enabling them first on Team and Enterprise. Malwarebytes' article also says something about plans, quoted and dated in the limits section. The directory sheet stays the reference for your own account, since it shows the current status.
05Does Claude see my messages when it queries Malwarebytes?
Claude reads what you share in the conversation, but according to Malwarebytes, only the items to check go to its service: the link, the number or the address. The publisher states it doesn't store your messages or your personal information. On Claude's side, the general rule holds: it works with the connected person's rights and nothing more. If you prefer, paste only the suspicious item instead of the whole message.
06Does an "unknown" verdict mean the link is safe?
No. Malwarebytes says it plainly: an unknown verdict only means its threat intelligence database has no information on the item. It's not a green light: of the four possible verdicts, malicious, suspicious, safe or unknown, only safe marks an item verified as legitimate. Stay careful with the item. reputation-whois returns a domain's registration data, dates included, and the service presents it as useful for spotting newly registered domains, common in phishing.
07Claude or an automation tool for Malwarebytes?
They do different jobs, so it depends on the use. Claude with Malwarebytes handles one specific doubt about one specific message: you show a message, it checks each item and explains the risk in the chat. An automation tool is built to chain steps that run unattended. This connector watches neither your calls nor your inbox, and none of its tools starts unless you ask the question first, in the conversation.
