Overview

What it changes for a deal team

You ask Claude where a deal stands or what a memo says, and it searches your Meridian pipeline, relationships, emails and files, then answers in the conversation. Meridian states the assistant sees exactly what you see in the app, scoped to your organisation, so the answer comes from the same data you already have access to, nothing wider.

IC prep without the scramble. search_deals returns a deal's stage, team and latest Investment Committee decision, then search_document_content pulls the CIM passage on customer concentration.

Relationship context before a call. search_interactions lines up every meeting and email thread with a bank in date order, and search_notes finds what your team wrote about them.

Reporting on demand, minus the spreadsheet. search_reports locates the weekly pipeline report and get_report_data brings back its rows with the columns you see in the app.

What Claude will not do with the current sheet: create or update a deal or a company. Meridian's documentation describes those writes anyway; the limits section lays out the gap. Nothing runs in the background either; no tool wakes up when a deal moves stage or an email lands. That is an automation tool's job, a different line of work, and the Integrations hub covers it.

Vocabulary

The vocabulary in one minute

Five terms to have straight before you connect Meridian AI.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already hold, so Claude can work in it while it answers.
Tool
One named capability the connector gives Claude. Claude chooses the ones it needs on its own; the directory sheet names them all.
Authorization
Meridian's own sign-in, through your firm's SSO, where you grant Claude the access it will use. Given once per person, withdrawn the same way.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for in the chat before it carries out something that changes your account.
MCP
The shared standard behind connectors; it is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service.
Connect

Connect Meridian AI to Claude in three steps

  1. 01

    Locate Meridian AI

In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, and look for Meridian AI. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner has to enable it for the organisation before each member can sign in.

  2. 02

    Sign in to Meridian

Click Connect on its row, then sign in to Meridian in the window it opens itself; the access you grant is tied to your own Meridian account. If the link breaks later, use Disconnect and connect again.

  3. 03

    Check the authorization

Read the authorization screen before approving. It is Meridian's screen, not Claude's, and it decides how far the access goes. Meridian adds that ending the session in your SSO, or removing the connector in Claude, takes the access back.

Tools

All 13 tools, grouped by what they do

Meridian AI gives Claude 13 tools: 13 that read your account, 0 that change something in it.

The directory sheet only lists read tools. Tool names stay exactly as Claude displays them.

13 tools

Thirteen tools that search and consult your Meridian workspace without changing it.

get_report_data

Brings back the rows of a saved report tab, with the very columns you see in the Meridian app.

When it helps
you need the Deals tab of the weekly pipeline report right before Monday's meeting.
Watch out
it reads the rows of one tab; locating the report itself goes through search_reports.

list_filter_attributes

Surfaces the custom fields and KPIs your firm defined for deals and companies, with each one's type, usable filter operators, value range and preset options.

When it helps
you want deals screened on an ARR threshold specific to your fund.

Sourcemeridian-ai.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

search_companies

Looks up portfolio companies, targets and prospects and shows each one's type, priority and recent activity.

When it helps
you need high-priority software targets nobody has touched since January.
Watch out
on the directory sheet, lookups are all Claude gets on companies; the limits section compares that with Meridian's own docs.

Sourcemeridian-ai.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

search_deals

Pulls pipeline opportunities and shows, for each, its stage, deal team, key metrics, sourcing themes and the latest Investment Committee decision.

When it helps
a partner asks which deals are sitting in diligence this week.
Watch out
on the directory sheet, lookups are all Claude gets on deals; the limits section sets that against Meridian's documentation.

search_document_content

Searches the contents of your files by meaning to isolate the exact passage that addresses your question, rather than files whose names merely look relevant.

When it helps
you need what a deal's CIM says about EBITDA margins, quoted from the source.

Sourcemeridian-ai.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

search_documents

Finds files uploaded to Meridian, such as CIMs, IC memos and reports, by name, type or the folder they sit in. It looks at the files themselves, not at the text inside them.

When it helps
you want every PDF that arrived this month before triaging new opportunities.

Sourcemeridian-ai.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

search_emails

Combs your organisation's email by keyword and by meaning. It can pull up a full thread, correspondence with one person, or the messages tied to a deal or company.

When it helps
you want to reread the term sheet discussion before chasing the other side.

Sourcemeridian-ai.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

search_interactions

Stitches meetings and email threads into one date-ordered timeline, for a company, a person, a deal, or your whole organisation at once.

When it helps
you are about to meet a founder and want the last ten touchpoints on their deal.

Sourcemeridian-ai.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

search_meetings

Retrieves meetings, Investment Committee sessions and pipeline reviews. A private meeting stays visible only to whoever created it and to its attendees, as it does in the app.

When it helps
you need last quarter's IC sessions alongside the deals each one discussed.

Sourcemeridian-ai.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

search_notes

Explores your notes by meaning, not only by exact wording. Results cover notes you own plus notes that have been shared publicly.

When it helps
you remember a pricing concern but not which of your notes it was buried in.

Sourcemeridian-ai.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

search_people

Looks up contacts, executives, bankers and other key people, along with when you last met or emailed each of them.

When it helps
you want portfolio executives nobody has emailed in the last quarter.
Watch out
results follow your own Meridian access, since Meridian says the assistant sees exactly what you see.

Sourcemeridian-ai.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

search_reports

Lists your saved reports, the multi-tab dashboards spanning deals, companies, people, interactions, staffing, activity and notes.

When it helps
you cannot recall what a colleague named the pipeline dashboard they built last month.
Watch out
it finds reports, not their contents; the rows of a tab come through get_report_data.

Sourcemeridian-ai.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

whoami

Returns your identity and organisation context inside Meridian. That tells you which identity and which firm the connection is using.

When it helps
right after connecting, and before you trust any answer about your own pipeline.
Watch out
the answer reflects the account you signed in with; if the connection fails, Meridian points to your administrator to confirm that account is active.

Approvals

What Claude checks with you first

By default, Claude pauses and asks for your go-ahead before every action it takes on an account for you. The request appears in the chat, right when it matters.

With the current sheet, every tool searches or reads, and no source describes a confirmation specific to any of them. On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether members may let certain actions through without being asked each time, and they can cap a connector for the whole organisation, reads open and writes shut. Nobody gets around that from their own account. Above all, Claude acts with your Meridian permissions and never sees beyond them.

Plans

Which plans it's available on

None of the 819 sheets in the official directory shows plan availability. Connector by connector, that information is not published anywhere.

The general rule is documented: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables the connector for the organisation before members connect one by one. Meridian describes the same admin-first sequence. For the live status, the connector's sheet in the official directory is the reference to check.

Limits

Where this connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you: nothing starts when a deal changes stage or an email comes in.

By default the sheet only exposes reads, and that is an observed floor: an admin can open writes that appear on no public page. Only the publisher documents this connector; Claude's help centre has no page on it. Meridian's documentation also describes create and update tools for deals and companies that the sheet does not list: the comparison below dates both sources and says which one to trust. The directory badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic does not guarantee a publisher's tools behave as described.

Two official sources disagree

Can Claude create or update deals and companies in Meridian AI?

What this page followsThe sheet, read in October 2026, only lists reads; Meridian's undated documentation adds writes on deals and companies. Neither is marked as outdated. What Claude can do for you is whatever the connector's sheet shows in your workspace, so check it on your own account.

FAQ

Claude Meridian AI connector FAQ

01What can Claude do with the Meridian AI connector?
Claude can query your Meridian workspace in plain English and answer from your own data. Its thirteen tools cover searching deals, companies, people, meetings, notes, emails and documents, reading inside those documents, building interaction timelines, finding saved reports and pulling their rows, listing your firm's custom fields, and confirming your identity. All thirteen only search or read. Answers stay within what your own Meridian account can see, as the publisher states, including its rules on private meetings, note access and email visibility.
02Can Claude create or update deals in Meridian?
Not according to the current directory sheet: its thirteen tools search or read, and none creates or updates anything. Meridian's documentation does describe write tools for deals and companies that are missing from the sheet; the limits section sets out that gap. A sheet showing only reads is an observed floor rather than a guarantee, because an admin can open writes. Check what the sheet shows on your own account.
03Does Claude ask before it acts in Meridian?
By default, yes: Claude asks for confirmation before every action it takes on an account on your behalf. With the current sheet, all thirteen tools only search and read, and no source describes a confirmation tied to any one of them. On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether members can let some actions through without a prompt, and they can switch off writes for the whole organisation, with no way for a member to override that from their own account.
04Which plans is the Meridian AI connector available on?
No official source publishes plan availability for a specific connector, and no directory sheet displays it. Anthropic's general rule is that remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, with an Owner or Primary Owner enabling them first on Team and Enterprise. On Meridian's side, you also need an active account at your firm. For the current status, look at the connector's sheet in the official directory.
05Does Claude see all of my firm's data?
No. Meridian says the assistant sees exactly what you see, scoped to your organisation, and respects private meetings, note access and email visibility rules. On Team and Enterprise, an owner can also narrow what the connector is allowed to do for the whole organisation, and members cannot loosen that setting from their own accounts. To take access back, Meridian says to end the session in your SSO or remove the connector.
06Is there a cap on how many requests Claude can make?
Yes, Meridian applies rate limits per user rather than across your firm. Across all tools, each person gets 4 requests per second with short bursts of up to 10, and its docs cap each write tool at 250 calls a day, resetting at midnight UTC. That daily cap concerns write tools Meridian describes but the directory sheet does not list, so it only matters if your own sheet shows them.
07Claude or an automation tool for Meridian AI?
They do different jobs. Claude helps when you have a question right now: where a deal stands, what a CIM says, the latest contact with a banker, the rows of a report. It acts inside the conversation and only when you ask. An automation tool helps when something has to happen without you, such as reacting each time a deal moves stage. Choose by use case; neither one replaces the other.
