What the Claude Phoenix by HG Insights connector does for sales teams
Phoenix puts HG Insights' B2B data inside the conversation: what a company runs, what it spends on IT, which topics it is researching, its outsourcing contracts and the people who work there. You ask about an account in plain words, and Claude picks the lookups it needs while it answers.
An account profile before a first meeting. company_firmographic returns size, industry and corporate hierarchy, company_technographic the products installed today, and company_intent the topics with the strongest intent signals.
A prospect list built from criteria. company_search filters many companies at once by technology installed, geography, employee band, revenue range, industry or NAICS code.
The right people on an account. contact_search finds people at a company by job title, seniority and location, then contact_enrich returns the email or phone of a person you already know, through Apollo or ZoomInfo.
What the directory sheet leaves out. Every tool is a lookup: no source describes Phoenix writing to your CRM, and HG Insights states its data is licensed for an assistant's reasoning, not for populating a system of record. Calls are metered in AI credits on your Phoenix subscription. And nothing runs on its own: Claude calls these tools while it answers, never on a schedule. For recurring syncs, that is a different job, done by the automation platforms on the Integrations hub.
Five terms to know first
Claude's vocabulary, as you will see it while connecting Phoenix.
- Connector
- The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already have, so Claude can use it in the middle of a reply.
- Tool
- One named action a connector opens to Claude. Claude picks the ones it needs by itself; the directory sheet lists each by name.
- Authorization
- The service's own sign-in screen, where you grant Claude the access it will use. Given once per person and revocable the same way.
- Approval
- The confirmation Claude waits for before it changes something in an account, shown in the chat at the moment it applies.
- MCP
- The common standard behind connectors: it is what lets an assistant such as Claude talk to an outside service the same way every time.
Connect Phoenix to Claude in three steps
- 01
Find Phoenix in Claude
In Claude's settings, open Customize, then Connectors, and find Phoenix by HG Insights in the list. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner must switch it on before each member can sign in.
- 02
Start the connection
Click Connect on its row and sign in to Phoenix in the window HG Insights opens itself. If the link stops working later, use Disconnect and connect again.
- 03
Read the authorization screen
Read the authorization screen before you accept. It belongs to HG Insights, not to Claude, and it sets what the access covers. Once accepted, the connector is available in your next conversation.
The 15 tools, grouped by what they do
Phoenix by HG Insights gives Claude 15 tools: 15 that read your account, 0 that change something in it.
All fifteen consult HG Insights data or the web. Names stay exactly as Claude shows them.

Tools index
What Claude reads (15)
15 toolsLookups on companies, contacts and the open web. Some cost credits; none is described as writing.
company_technographic
Lists the products a company has installed today, each with its vendor, a usage-intensity score, a count of locations and the dates it was first and last verified.
company_firmographic
Returns the firmographic basics of one company: name, location, industry, employee and revenue size, its place in the corporate hierarchy and its global headquarters.
company_search
Filters many companies at once on firmographic and technographic criteria, such as technology installed, geography, employee band, revenue range, industry or NAICS. The result is a list to work through, not a single profile.
company_intent
Gives a broad view of one company's intent signals: top topics scored from 0 to 100, an intent level, a buyer-journey stage and a context such as displacement, expansion, complementary or whitespace.
company_spend
Estimates a company's annual IT spend in US dollars, split by spend category and by country, from HG Insights' modelled data.
company_cloud_spend
Maps the cloud and internet-infrastructure vendors a company relies on, from HG Insights Cloud Dynamics, listing vendors and adoption.
company_contracts
Reports what HG Insights knows of a company's contracts: vendor relationships, deal values, status and duration, service lines, renewal timing and the entity holding each contract.
company_fai
Shows which departments inside one company use specific products, with each department's usage share, signal strength, decision-maker and influencer flags, roles and where the signal was found.
company_operating_signals
Rolls HG mentions and AI-maturity data up into ten labelled stage attributes, giving a single operational profile of one company rather than a list of products.
company_install_time_series
Returns a monthly installation-intensity series per product for one company, given by its domain, so you can follow its technology adoption month after month instead of a single snapshot.
company_gov_opportunities
Finds open US federal solicitations where one named company, given by its domain, is the likely incumbent or a probable bidder. The answer is a list of solicitations tied to that company.
company_gov_relationships
Maps one company's federal teaming partners from USAspending.gov subaward records, in both directions: the primes that pass work down to it and the subcontractors it passes work down to.
contact_search
Lists people at a company by job title, seniority and location, rather than company facts. Results come from an external provider, Apollo or ZoomInfo, picked from your organization's configured integrations.
contact_enrich
Returns the email, phone, seniority or title, social profiles and employment history of a person you already know, through Apollo or ZoomInfo.
web_search
Runs a live web search for what is not in HG Insights' own data, such as recent news or public context, and returns titles, links, snippets and an optional generated summary.
What Claude asks before acting
By default, Claude stops to ask before any action it takes on an account on your behalf. The request shows up in the conversation when it matters.
On Team and Enterprise, workspace owners decide whether members can let some actions run without a prompt each time. They can also cap what a connector does for the whole organization, and no member can lift that from their own account. Claude uses the access of the person signed in, nothing wider. Here, every listed tool is a lookup, and no source describes a confirmation step for any of them, including the contact reveals that consume credits.
Which Claude plans include it
Of the 819 sheets in the official directory, none shows availability by plan. That answer, connector by connector, is not published anywhere.
The general rule is: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, and desktop extensions install on Claude Desktop. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner switches a connector on for the organization before members can sign in. Your Phoenix subscription is a separate matter, set by HG Insights. For the current status, open the Phoenix sheet in the directory.
Where this connector stops
A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you, and nothing fires when an account's intent spikes or a contract nears renewal.
The tool list is an observed floor, not a ceiling: an administrator can open actions that no public sheet shows. The partner badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic writes on every sheet that it does not pick a publisher's tools nor guarantee their behaviour. Only HG Insights documents this connector; no Claude help article covers it. Other connectors are listed on the Claude connectors hub.
