Overview

What changes when Claude runs your research ops

Research ops in Rally means a study builder, a participant pool, a scheduling view and an inbox of pending decisions. With the connector, you tell Claude what you need, say a half-hour onboarding interview study with enterprise admins, and it sets up the study, checks whether your pool can supply the people, drafts the screener and plans the recruiting for you to review.

A study from a sentence. build_study sets up the study, build_screener drafts the qualifying questions, and check_recruiting_feasibility tells you whether your own people can fill it or whether a list import or a paid panel is needed.

Interviews without calendar ping-pong. search_availability finds open slots, schedule_interview books one with a preview first, and reschedule_interview moves it and tells the participant once you confirm.

Synthesis from what people said. get_raw_transcript brings back who said what in a recorded session and search_study_responses pulls screener or survey answers, so Claude can quote participants instead of paraphrasing them.

Now the part the sheet does not spell out. Rally builds in its own brakes: several tools preview and wait for your confirmation, and send_message never emails anyone directly, it creates a decision you approve inside Rally. Other moves are final, such as closing a study or cancelling what is left of a mailing. Seven listed tools have no description anywhere. Nothing runs on its own either: no tool fires when a participant books or cancels. For that kind of background job, an automation tool is the right trade, and our Integrations hub covers it. Other apps get the same breakdown, for instance the Claude airtable connector.

Vocabulary

Five words before you plug it in

The vocabulary you will meet on the way.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already have, so Claude can work in it while it answers you.
Tool
One named job the connector opens to Claude. Claude picks the ones it needs mid-answer; the directory sheet lists them by name.
Authorization
Rally's own sign-in screen, where you hand Claude the access it will use afterwards. Given once per person, and you can take it back.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before doing something that changes an account, shown in the conversation when it matters.
MCP
The shared standard connectors are built on: it is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service such as Rally.
Connect

Connect Rally to Claude in three steps

  1. 01

    Find Rally in Claude

In Claude's settings, open Customize, then Connectors, and look for Rally. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner has to enable the connector first; then each member connects on their own.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Click Connect on its row. Rally opens its own sign-in page in your browser, where you log in with your Rally account. If the link breaks later, hit Disconnect and connect again.

  3. 03

    Read the authorization screen

Before you approve access, read what the screen asks for. It belongs to Rally, not to Claude, and it decides what the access covers. Rally lets you revoke that session later from your account settings.

Tools

The 67 tools of the Claude Rally connector

Rally MCP gives Claude 67 tools: 28 that read your account, 32 that change something in it, and 7 no official source describes.

Three groups: what Claude reads, what it changes, and seven tools nobody documents. Rally's help article describes the rest one by one. Names stay as Claude shows them, in English.

What Claude reads (28)

28 tools

Twenty-eight tools that look through studies, people, schedules and results without touching them.

check_recruiting_feasibility

Checks whether a described audience exists among your workspace's own people and returns a match estimate with a recommendation: recruit from the panel, or import a list first.

When it helps
before promising a stakeholder enterprise admins, you want to know if you have them.
Watch out
a paid external panel appears as a separate, paid option when it could help.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

get_current_user

Returns your own Rally profile: name, role, workspace and the teams you belong to, which tells Claude whose account it is working in.

When it helps
you want to check which teams you belong to before assigning a study.
Watch out
it shows your profile, not a teammate's.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

get_interview

Pulls the full detail of one interview: who attends, the observer room, and any recording, summary or transcript access.

When it helps
a stakeholder asks who is on today's session and where to watch.
Watch out
transcript text itself comes from the transcript tool.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

get_my_availability

Shows your default weekly interview hours, timezone and daily or weekly booking caps, or a teammate's to see when they are free.

When it helps
you want to know if a colleague could host a session on Friday.
Watch out
these are defaults, not the live calendar.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

get_participant_email_activity

Reports one participant's full email history on a study: what went out, was delivered, opened or bounced.

When it helps
you wonder whether a no-show ever opened the invitation.
Watch out
it covers one participant on one study, not the whole mailing.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

get_person

Pulls one person's full profile: contact details, custom field values, notes and past study ratings.

When it helps
before a follow-up interview, you want to reread what the team noted last time.
Watch out
it covers the person across studies, not one study's picture.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

get_raw_transcript

Retrieves the full spoken transcript of a recorded interview, with who said what and when, ready for quoting or close reading.

When it helps
you want the exact words a participant used about pricing for a readout.
Watch out
only recorded interviews have one.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

get_study

Opens one study in full: setup, screener, status and recruiting progress.

When it helps
a manager asks how the onboarding study is set up and how far along it is.
Watch out
one study at a time; the search tool covers the rest.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

get_study_email_activity

Reports everything a study has emailed and what is still queued, broken down by purpose, with delivery and open counts.

When it helps
you want to know whether yesterday's invitations reached people.
Watch out
an email with no confirmed open may still have been read.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

get_study_message_tokens

Looks up the placeholders available for a study email, such as names, dates, incentive amounts and links, so any wording Claude proposes uses them instead of fixed text.

When it helps
you want the invitation to greet each person by name.
Watch out
placeholders vary by email type.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

get_study_participant

Pulls one participant's picture on a study: screener answers, consent status, quota group and latest booking.

When it helps
you want to know what someone answered on the screener before the call.
Watch out
it covers one study; the profile tool covers the person overall.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

list_message_campaigns

Lists a study's mailings, invitations and screener follow-ups among them, most recent first, with delivery counts for each.

When it helps
you want to see how the last round of invitations performed.
Watch out
counts are per mailing, not per person.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

list_study_message_templates

Lists every saved email and text reminder configured on a study.

When it helps
you want the full picture of what a study mails participants before launch.
Watch out
it lists them; reading one in full goes through the preview tool.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

preview_message

Renders a study's saved email, or a drafted one-off message, exactly as a participant would see it, with their real name when one is specified. It does not send or change anything.

When it helps
you want to see the invitation as Dana would before approving it.
Watch out
previewing is not approving; the decision still happens elsewhere.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

review_external_panel_launch

Runs the final check before launching a paid external panel: whether it is ready, what blocks it, and the full itemized cost.

When it helps
finance wants the exact panel cost before you commit.
Watch out
it launches nothing itself; going live still needs confirmation on Rally's cost sheet.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

search_availability

Finds a study's open interview slots and which hosts are free in each one, so Claude can offer times that actually work.

When it helps
you want to offer a participant three options this week.
Watch out
it looks at one study's slots at a time.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

search_email_sender_addresses

Lists the personal and team addresses your account can use as senders, so messages come from the right mailbox.

When it helps
you want invitations to come from the research team address rather than yours.
Watch out
it lists addresses; picking one happens when a message goes out.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

search_external_panel_targeting_options

Looks up what a paid external panel can target and the options available for each criterion.

When it helps
you need to know which countries a panel can recruit from.
Watch out
options differ from one panel to the other.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

search_interviews

Finds interview sessions across your team, for one person's day, or across a single study's schedule.

When it helps
you want to know what sessions you have today.
Watch out
a day's results include cancelled and no-show sessions alongside completed ones.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

search_participants

Shows every participant of a study and where each stands, invited, screening, done and so on, with filters for stage, status or quota group.

When it helps
you want to see who has not been contacted yet.
Watch out
one study at a time.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

search_pending_decisions

Lists what is waiting on your decision for a study, an outgoing email or an incentive for example, with a link to review or decline each one in Rally.

When it helps
you asked Claude to invite people and want to find the decision it left for you.
Watch out
the decision itself is made in Rally, not in the chat.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

search_people

Searches your workspace's people from a plain description and returns how many matched, which fields it filtered on, and a sample.

When it helps
you want designers in Chicago who speak Spanish.
Watch out
while recruiting for a study, the count narrows to who can actually be added to it.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

search_populations

Looks for an existing named population or panel by its name, so Claude can point recruiting at a group you already built.

When it helps
you want to recruit from the Enterprise panel and need to find it.
Watch out
it searches by name only.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

search_properties

Checks the custom and built-in fields your workspace tracks about people, with the values each one allows.

When it helps
before drafting questions, you want to know what you already track.
Watch out
it describes fields, not the people in them.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

search_studies

Searches every study you can access, active, paused, closed or never launched, and returns each one's recruiting progress.

When it helps
you want a list of your active studies for the weekly sync.
Watch out
it only covers studies your account can open.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

search_study_responses

Returns screener or survey answers for a study, matched to their questions, per person who submitted, which is the raw material of any synthesis.

When it helps
you want every survey answer that mentions pricing.
Watch out
it covers one study's responses.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

search_survey_connectors

Lists which external survey tools, Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey or Typeform, your workspace has connected, or finds a survey within one of them.

When it helps
you want to run a survey study with the Typeform your team already uses.
Watch out
it applies to survey studies whose questions live outside Rally.

What Claude changes (32)

32 tools

Thirty-two tools that build, book, mail, record or close. Six of them preview and wait for your confirmation, per Rally, and two more hold anything back until it is approved inside Rally; for the rest, the general rule below applies.

add_interview_guest

Approval: see the rule

Adds another person to a booked interview, either as a speaking participant or as a silent observer.

What Claude asks for
Rally's article describes no prompt for this one, so the general approval rule applies.
When it helps
a product manager wants to listen in on Thursday's session without speaking.
Watch out
silent observing only works if the study has an observer room set up.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

add_people_to_study

Approval: see the rule

Puts people onto a study, draft or live, from a saved selection or a specific list. Rally says nothing is sent and no outreach starts: they simply arrive ready to be reached.

What Claude asks for
no source describes a Claude-side prompt before people join; the approvals section covers it.
When it helps
you shortlisted a dozen power users and want them on the new study.
Watch out
joining is not inviting; outreach happens in a later step.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

append_note_to_participant

Approval: see the rule

Adds a note to a participant on top of what is already there, never replacing earlier notes.

What Claude asks for
a confirmation before a note lands is described nowhere; the default rule decides.
When it helps
a participant told you she needs to reschedule and you want that on record.
Watch out
notes only pile up, so a wrong one stays visible under the right one.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

build_external_panel_audience

Approval: see the rule

Sets who a paid external panel, Respondent or User Interviews, should recruit: audience type, time commitment and targeting criteria. It returns a running cost estimate.

What Claude asks for
whether Claude pauses before this is not documented; see the general rule.
When it helps
your own pool has no hospital nurses and you need a paid panel for them.
Watch out
it locks once recruiting has started, and only User Interviews gives a reach estimate before launch.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

build_recruiting

Approval: see the rule

Turns a chosen selection of people into a recruiting plan you review before anything moves: daily send size and the invitation as participants will see it.

What Claude asks for
the plan itself is the review step Rally describes; no separate prompt from Claude is documented, so the general rule applies too.
When it helps
you want to see how many invitations go out per day before committing.
Watch out
it does not apply to a paid external panel, which goes live through a quote review instead.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

build_screener

Approval: see the rule

Writes or revises the qualifying questions of an interview or unmoderated-test study, one change at a time, and returns the full list with its qualify or disqualify logic.

What Claude asks for
Rally documents no Claude prompt before the questions change; the default rule is what you have.
When it helps
you want to screen for people who cook often and own a dog.
Watch out
survey studies use survey questions instead; screeners do not apply there.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

build_study

Approval: see the rule

Creates a new study or edits an existing one, draft or live, and returns its whole setup: name, incentive, target, consent and more.

What Claude asks for
no source describes a confirmation before the study is saved; the approvals section applies.
When it helps
you want a half-hour interview study on onboarding set up from one sentence.
Watch out
on a live study, anything recruiting has touched locks progressively, the incentive once invitations are out for example.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

build_survey

Approval: see the rule

Drafts or reworks the questions every participant of a survey study answers, then returns the resulting set.

What Claude asks for
a prompt before the survey changes is described nowhere; the general rule decides.
When it helps
you want to add a question about monthly budget to the pricing survey.
Watch out
it only works when the survey lives in Rally's own builder, not in an external tool.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

cancel_incentive

Approval: see the rule

Stops an unclaimed incentive from reaching someone.

What Claude asks for
nothing published covers a prompt before the cancellation; the rule further down applies.
When it helps
an incentive went to the wrong participant and has not been claimed yet.
Watch out
it is unavailable past the cancellation window, or when a paid panel is paying.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

cancel_interview

Approval: see the rule

Cancels a booked interview and notifies everyone involved.

What Claude asks for
Rally describes no preview here, unlike rescheduling, so the default approval rule is your safeguard.
When it helps
the participant emailed that she cannot make it and does not want another slot.
Watch out
everyone involved gets notified as soon as it goes through.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

cancel_message_campaign

Approval: see the rule

Permanently drops the invitations not yet sent from one mailing. Unlike pausing, this cannot be undone.

What Claude asks for
no source describes a Claude-side confirmation, so the general rule is all that stands before a final step.
When it helps
the study is full and the remaining invitations should never go out.
Watch out
pause instead if there is any chance you will want them later.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

change_interview_host

Asks you first

Swaps the host of a booked interview while the time and the participant stay the same.

What Claude asks for
Rally says the swap happens after a preview and your confirmation.
When it helps
you are off sick and a colleague takes over your session.
Watch out
the time and the participant stay fixed, so only the host changes.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

close_study

Approval: see the rule

Ends a study's recruiting for good: invitations and new bookings stop permanently, though sessions already booked still happen.

What Claude asks for
no specific prompt is documented, so read the default confirmation carefully: Rally says this cannot be undone.
When it helps
you have enough sessions and want recruiting shut.
Watch out
to stop temporarily, pause the study instead.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

create_population

Approval: see the rule

Sets up a named group of people, to import into or to serve as the destination of a public sign-up link.

What Claude asks for
a confirmation before the group is created is not documented; the approvals section applies.
When it helps
you are launching a beta and want its testers grouped in one place.
Watch out
it creates the container; people arrive through import or sign-up.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

decide_external_panel_applicants

Asks you first

Approves or rejects applicants waiting for review on a study that recruits through a paid external panel. Approving invites them at the provider.

What Claude asks for
Rally says it always previews the decisions and asks for your confirmation before committing.
When it helps
twelve applicants came in overnight and you want to accept the ones who fit.
Watch out
approving triggers the invitation on the panel's side.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

draft_message

Approval: see the rule

Composes a one-off message, like a thank-you note, for a group on a live study, without touching its saved templates, and returns a preview to review.

What Claude asks for
drafting carries no documented prompt of its own; the general rule decides, and nothing leaves until a separate send step.
When it helps
you want to thank everyone who finished their session.
Watch out
not available when a paid external panel recruits, since the provider owns participant contact.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

edit_study_message_template

Approval: see the rule

Rewrites one of a study's saved emails, such as the invitation, a reminder or the booking confirmation, and returns it as participants will see it.

What Claude asks for
no source describes a prompt before the template is rewritten; see the general rule.
When it helps
the invitation reads cold and you want it warmer.
Watch out
future sends use the new text, but emails already sent or queued in a running round stay as they were.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

import_people

Approval: see the rule

Imports people, from pasted rows or a staged file, into a chosen population and optionally straight onto a study.

What Claude asks for
no source describes a Claude prompt before the import runs; the default rule applies.
When it helps
a customer success lead hands you a list of forty accounts to recruit from.
Watch out
it runs as a background job, and new people may not appear in a search right away.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

log_custom_incentive

Asks you first

Records a study's custom reward, such as swag or credits handled outside Rally, against participants and marks them paid.

What Claude asks for
Rally says it records only after a preview and your confirmation.
When it helps
you shipped hoodies to everyone who finished and want Rally to reflect it.
Watch out
recording is not delivering: the reward itself goes out elsewhere.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

map_question_properties

Approval: see the rule

Matches a screener's or survey's questions to existing fields on people's profiles so answers are saved there automatically.

What Claude asks for
a prompt before the mapping is saved is not documented; see the approvals section.
When it helps
you want screener answers about company size stored on each profile.
Watch out
it only connects to fields that already exist, never new ones.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

mark_attendance

Asks you first

Records whether a participant showed up or no-showed for a given session.

What Claude asks for
Rally says a preview confirms the resulting status before it is recorded.
When it helps
a participant never joined this morning's call.
Watch out
it records one session at a time, so name the right one.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

pause_message_campaign

Approval: see the rule

Pauses one mailing so it stops going out further, without affecting the rest of the study. Rally says it is reversible.

What Claude asks for
no Claude-side prompt is documented for pausing; the general rule applies.
When it helps
you spotted a typo in the invitation halfway through the round.
Watch out
pausing holds the rest; cancelling would drop it.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

pause_study

Approval: see the rule

Pauses a live study: invitations and new bookings stop, sessions already booked stand. Rally marks the pause as reversible.

What Claude asks for
a confirmation specific to pausing is described nowhere; the default rule decides.
When it helps
the product team wants a week to rework the prototype before more sessions.
Watch out
booked sessions still happen during the pause.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

reschedule_interview

Asks you first

Moves a booked interview to a new time and notifies the participant.

What Claude asks for
Rally says it previews the change and the open slots first, then acts once you confirm.
When it helps
a participant asks to move from Thursday afternoon to Friday morning.
Watch out
the participant hears about it as soon as you confirm.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

resend_incentive

Approval: see the rule

Re-sends the redemption email of a gift-card or cash incentive when someone never got it or lost it.

What Claude asks for
no documented prompt belongs to this tool; see the general rule.
When it helps
a participant swears the gift card never arrived.
Watch out
it does not apply to custom incentives.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

resume_message_campaign

Approval: see the rule

Picks a paused mailing back up where it left off.

What Claude asks for
a check before the mailing restarts is not described; the approvals section covers it.
When it helps
the typo is fixed and the invitations can continue.
Watch out
it restarts from where it stopped, not from the start.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

resume_study

Approval: see the rule

Brings a paused study back to life, restarting invitations and bookings.

What Claude asks for
nothing documents a Claude prompt before recruiting restarts; the default rule applies.
When it helps
the prototype is ready and sessions can start again.
Watch out
invitations flow again as soon as it resumes.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

schedule_interview

Asks you first

Books a new interview, with you as host, for a participant already on a study.

What Claude asks for
Rally says it previews the booking before it is confirmed.
When it helps
a participant replied that Thursday at two works.
Watch out
the participant must already be on the study.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

send_message

Asks you first

Proposes sending a study's invitation, or a drafted one-off message, to a group. Rally says it never sends anything directly: it creates a decision that still needs approval in Rally.

What Claude asks for
Rally puts the approval inside its own interface: nothing goes out until you approve the decision there.
When it helps
the screener is ready and invitations should go to the shortlisted people.
Watch out
look for the pending decision in Rally, or ask Claude to list it.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

set_screener_qualification

Approval: see the rule

Marks one or several participants qualified or not, including overriding what the screener decided.

What Claude asks for
Rally says this applies immediately with no approval step, because it is easy to reverse; the general rule of Claude still stands.
When it helps
a participant failed one question but is exactly who you need.
Watch out
it only sets qualification: nobody is notified, and scheduling and incentives stay untouched.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

start_recruiting

Asks you first

Takes an approved plan live: adds the selected people and queues the first round, or switches a sign-up link on. For a paid panel, it publishes the study once its cost sheet is confirmed.

What Claude asks for
Rally says nothing goes out until that first round is separately approved.
When it helps
the plan looks right and you want recruiting to begin.
Watch out
it needs an approved plan first, built with the planning tool.

Sourcehelp.rallyuxr.com · September 17, 2026 ↗

update_my_availability

Approval: see the rule

Changes your default interview hours, caps, timezone, or how your calendar limits bookings. It applies across every study you host.

What Claude asks for
no prompt specific to this tool is documented; see the approvals section.
When it helps
you want no bookings after three in the afternoon from now on.
Watch out
it affects every study you host, not only one.

Undocumented (7)

7 tools

The directory lists these names and nothing else. Rally's article does not describe them, so we will not guess from their names.

get_interview_brief

The directory lists this name and nothing more. Rally's help article does not cover it, and no Claude page does, so this page stops there.

Watch out
the general approval rule applies to it, whatever it turns out to do.

import_people_from_file

Only the name appears, on the directory sheet. Rally's article describes imports under other names, and no source ties this one to them, so the page does not.

Watch out
it falls under the general approval rule like every tool here.

ping

This one appears in the directory list with no description. Rally's article mentions the word in a troubleshooting tip, but not as a documented tool, so the page adds nothing.

Watch out
like the others, it sits under the general approval rule.

rally_assistant_ui

No source describes this name beyond the directory listing. Rally's help article skips it, no Claude page mentions it, and the page will not infer anything from how it is spelled.

Watch out
the general approval rule covers it all the same.

show_study_card

Nothing but the name is published, on the directory sheet. Rally's article does not include it, and neither does any Claude page, so what it shows or returns stays unknown here.

Watch out
it remains under the general approval rule, whatever it does.

submit_feedback

Listed by the directory without any description, and absent from Rally's help article as well as from every Claude page, so the page gives no account of it and draws nothing from its name.

Watch out
the general approval rule is what applies.

upload_file

The directory names it and says nothing more. Rally's article describes file staging under another name, and no source links the two, so the page stays silent on what it covers.

Watch out
it is covered by the general approval rule.
Approvals

What Claude asks before acting

By default, Claude stops and asks for your go-ahead before any action it takes on an account for you. The request shows up in the conversation, at the moment it matters.

Rally adds brakes of its own. Six tools preview and wait for your confirmation, and sends, like the first round of recruiting, become decisions you approve inside Rally. On Team and Enterprise, owners decide whether a member may let some actions through without being asked. They can also cap what a connector may do across the organization, and nobody bypasses that from their account. Claude works with your rights: Rally says it cannot reach any data your account cannot reach.

Plans

Which plans include it

Of the 819 sheets in the official directory, none shows availability by plan. The per-connector answer is published nowhere, a real gap in the catalogue.

The general rule is public: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, and desktop extensions install on Claude Desktop. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables the connector for the organization before members can connect. For the current state, open the Rally sheet in the directory from your own account.

Limits

Where this connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you; nothing starts when a participant books, cancels or finishes a survey.

This connector is documented only by its publisher: neither Claude's help center nor Anthropic's developer docs cover it. The tool list is an observed floor, not a promise, since an administrator can open actions no public sheet shows. The partner badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic says on every sheet that it does not decide which tools a publisher exposes. The directory and Rally's article do not list exactly the same tools.

FAQ

FAQ on the Claude Rally connector

01What can Claude do with the Rally connector?
Claude can run much of your research operations in Rally from a conversation. It searches studies, people and participants, checks recruiting feasibility, builds studies, screeners and surveys, plans and starts recruiting, drafts and proposes messages, schedules, reschedules or cancels interviews, handles incentives, and reads transcripts and responses. Rally's help article documents sixty of the sixty-seven tools on the directory sheet; seven have no description anywhere, so the page leaves them aside.
02Can Claude send emails, book or cancel things in Rally?
Yes, thirty-two tools change your workspace. Claude can build and close studies, add or import people, book, move or cancel interviews, record attendance and incentives, and pause, resume or cancel mailings. Emails are a special case: send_message never sends directly, it creates a decision you approve in Rally. Some steps are final, such as closing a study or cancelling the rest of a mailing, which Rally says cannot be undone.
03Does Claude ask before it acts in Rally?
By default, yes: Claude asks for confirmation before each action it takes on an account for you. Rally adds its own layer, with six tools that preview and wait for your confirmation, from scheduling to logging an incentive, and sends or first recruiting rounds that turn into decisions approved inside Rally. One tool, setting screener qualification, applies immediately according to Rally. On Team and Enterprise, owners can close writing for the whole organization, a setting nobody lifts from their own account.
04Which plans is it available on?
No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, and none of the 819 directory sheets shows it. The general rule opens remote connectors to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner must enable the connector before members can connect. The Rally sheet in the directory, opened from your own account, is the only place that shows the current state.
05Does Claude see everything in our Rally workspace?
No. Rally states that the connection works entirely within the permissions of the signed-in user and cannot reach data that user cannot reach in Rally directly. A teammate with narrower access gets narrower answers. You can revoke the session from your Rally account settings at any time, and deactivating a user in Rally revokes the access automatically. On Team and Enterprise, an owner can also restrict what the connector may do.
06Why did Claude not send the invitations I asked for?
Because in Rally, sending is a two-step move. The send tool never emails anyone directly: it creates a decision that still needs your approval inside Rally before anything goes out. Recruiting works the same way, since starting it queues a first round that must be approved separately. Ask Claude to list pending decisions, open the link it gives you, and approve, edit or decline each one in Rally. Only then does anything reach participants.
07Claude or an automation tool for Rally?
They do different jobs, so choose by the task. Claude works inside a conversation: you ask, it builds, books, drafts or reads, and nothing moves once you stop typing. It does not react on its own when a participant books or a survey comes back. For a job that fires in the background on such an event, an automation tool is the right trade. For research ops you steer as you go, the connector fits.
