Overview

What changes when Claude works in Superhuman Mail

Copying an email into a chat window, asking for a reply and pasting it back is over. With the connector, Claude reads your Superhuman Mail inbox and calendar directly, drafts in your own tone, files threads, and can send. Superhuman's own advice is the key to using it well: keep the send step on approval so nothing leaves without your sign-off.

Catching up on a thread. Claude finds it with list_threads using sender, subject or date filters, opens it with get_thread, and can check who opened your last message through get_read_statuses.

Replying without copy and paste. create_or_update_draft writes a reply in your voice that shows up in your Mail drafts, and send_draft sends it, optionally scheduled or with Smart Send, once you approve.

Booking the follow-up. get_availability looks for a slot that suits a group, and create_or_update_event puts it in the calendar.

What it will not do: no tool sends attachments yet, according to Superhuman, and two tools on the directory sheet are described nowhere. Nothing runs on its own either: Superhuman states its server does no scheduling, and Claude acts only while it answers you. The Claude connectors hub lists the other email connectors, and the Integrations page covers rule-based automation platforms.

Vocabulary

Five words before you connect

The Claude vocabulary behind this connector, in one minute.

Connector
Set up once, it links Claude to the mailbox and calendar you already use in Superhuman Mail, so Claude can act there while it answers you.
Tool
One named thing the connector lets Claude do on that account. Claude chooses the tools it needs, and the directory sheet lists them by name.
Authorization
Superhuman's own sign-in screen, where you give Claude the access it will use from then on. Granted once per person, and revocable.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before it goes ahead with something that changes the account, such as sending an email.
MCP
The open protocol connectors rely on: through it, Claude exchanges with a service outside itself, here Superhuman Mail.
Connect

Connecting Superhuman Mail to Claude in three steps

  1. 01

    Find Superhuman Mail in Claude

Open Claude's settings, go to Customize then Connectors, and search for Superhuman Mail. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner first enables it so each member can then sign in with their own inbox.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Click Connect on its row and complete the Superhuman sign-in in your browser. Superhuman notes the screen may look familiar even when you are logged in: it is the step that grants Claude access. If the link breaks, use Disconnect and reconnect.

  3. 03

    Read the authorization screen

Check the authorization screen before you accept. It belongs to Superhuman, not to Claude, and it decides what the access covers. You can also take that access back later from the Superhuman side.

The 19 Superhuman Mail tools, sorted by what they do

Superhuman Mail gives Claude 19 tools: 8 that read your account, 9 that change something in it, and 2 no official source describes.

Superhuman's help centre describes seventeen of them; two appear on the directory sheet with only a name. Names stay exactly as Claude shows them.

What Claude reads (8)

8 tools

Eight tools that search, open and summarise email and calendar data without altering it.

get_attachment

Fetches a file attached to an email you received, so that its content is brought into the conversation instead of staying in your inbox.

When it helps
you want the content of a file you received brought into the conversation.
Watch out
this covers files you receive; Superhuman says outgoing attachments are not supported yet.

list_splits

Returns your Split Inboxes from Superhuman Mail, such as Important or Other, so Claude knows how your inbox is divided before searching inside one split.

When it helps
you ask what came into Important today and Claude needs the split's exact name.

Sourcehelp.superhuman.com · September 22, 2026 ↗

get_availability

Looks across calendars for meeting times that work for a group of participants and returns the open slots Claude can propose.

When it helps
you need a slot that works for several participants before proposing a meeting.
Watch out
it finds slots only; booking the meeting is the event tool's job.

get_message

Fetches a single email by its identifier, which Claude uses when it needs one precise message rather than the whole conversation around it.

When it helps
Claude needs one precise message, identified by its ID, rather than the whole thread.

Sourcehelp.superhuman.com · September 22, 2026 ↗

get_read_statuses

Tells you who opened the emails you sent, when they did, and on what device, using Superhuman's read tracking.

When it helps
you want to know whether a message you sent has been opened before following up.
Watch out
it covers emails you sent, not messages you received.

Sourcehelp.superhuman.com · September 22, 2026 ↗

get_thread

Opens a complete email thread with its messages, any drafts attached to it and the comments left on it, so Claude reads the whole exchange in order.

When it helps
you want the whole exchange, drafts and comments included, read in order.

Sourcehelp.superhuman.com · September 22, 2026 ↗

list_threads

Searches your threads with structured filters such as sender, recipient, subject, label, split and date range, and returns the matches.

When it helps
you want every thread from one sender over a given date range.
Watch out
for vague questions, the natural-language search tool usually fits better.

Sourcehelp.superhuman.com · September 22, 2026 ↗

query_email_and_calendar

Answers a question about your email and calendar through semantic search, so you can ask in plain words instead of building filters.

When it helps
you remember what an email or event was about but not who sent it or when.
Watch out
with several linked accounts, Superhuman advises saying whether to look across all of them.

What Claude can change or send (9)

9 tools

Nine tools that draft, send, file, trash, unsubscribe or schedule. Superhuman describes approval for sending; for the rest, the general rule below applies.

create_or_update_draft

Approval: see the rule

Writes a new email draft or edits an existing one in your voice and tone. Drafts made this way appear in your Superhuman Mail drafts folder.

What Claude asks for
Superhuman says the assistant asks you to confirm every action by default, drafts included; Claude's general rule matches it.
When it helps
you want a reply prepared in your usual tone, then left in your drafts for review.
Watch out
drafts made in Gmail or Outlook do not appear in Mail, and vice versa.

Sourcehelp.superhuman.com · September 22, 2026 ↗

create_or_update_event

Approval: see the rule

Creates a calendar event or modifies one already in your calendar, using the event preferences stored in your Superhuman personalization.

What Claude asks for
no tool-specific rule is documented; the default confirmation applies.
When it helps
once a time is agreed, you want the event created or moved without leaving the conversation.

Sourcehelp.superhuman.com · September 22, 2026 ↗

discard_draft

Approval: see the rule

Deletes a draft from your drafts, for instance one of several versions Claude prepared that you no longer need.

What Claude asks for
Superhuman documents nothing specific here; the default approval rule holds.
When it helps
one of the drafts in your folder is no longer needed.
Watch out
Superhuman describes this as deleting the draft, so point Claude at the right one.

Sourcehelp.superhuman.com · September 22, 2026 ↗

send_draft

Asks you first

Sends an email with recipients, copies, subject and body, and supports Smart Send, scheduled sending and Undo Send.

What Claude asks for
Superhuman states the tool must be approved and strongly advises keeping a confirmation on every send.
When it helps
sending a reply you just checked in the conversation.
Watch out
without that confirmation, it can send instantly.

Sourcehelp.superhuman.com · September 22, 2026 ↗

trash_thread

Approval: see the rule

Moves a whole thread to the Trash.

What Claude asks for
Superhuman sets no rule for trashing beyond its default of confirming each action; Claude's general rule applies too.
When it helps
a thread is no longer needed and should go to the Trash.
Watch out
the tool acts on the whole thread, not on a single message.

Sourcehelp.superhuman.com · September 22, 2026 ↗

undo_send

Approval: see the rule

Cancels an email you sent a moment ago, as long as it is still within the Undo window.

What Claude asks for
Superhuman describes no separate confirmation here; Claude's default rule applies.
When it helps
you spot a mistake in an email right after sending it.
Watch out
once the Undo window has passed, the email has left for good.

Sourcehelp.superhuman.com · September 22, 2026 ↗

unsubscribe

Approval: see the rule

Unsubscribes you from a mailing list and can also trash its messages and block the sender.

What Claude asks for
nothing tool-specific is documented; rely on the general approval rule.
When it helps
you no longer want messages from a mailing list.
Watch out
blocking is optional, so say whether you want it.

Sourcehelp.superhuman.com · September 22, 2026 ↗

update_personalization

Approval: see the rule

Updates the writing style, event preferences and personal facts Superhuman Mail uses when it drafts emails and events. The change is saved in your Personalization settings.

What Claude asks for
no specific confirmation is documented; the default rule holds.
When it helps
you want later drafts to follow a different writing style.
Watch out
it affects every later draft, not just one.

Sourcehelp.superhuman.com · September 22, 2026 ↗

update_thread

Approval: see the rule

Adds or removes a label, stars or unstars, marks Done or not Done, marks read or unread, and moves threads in or out of Trash, on one or several threads at once.

What Claude asks for
Superhuman documents no rule of its own here; the general one applies.
When it helps
several threads need the same label, star or Done status at once.

Not documented (2)

2 tools

Listed by name on the directory sheet, described by no official source. Nothing more is said about them here.

mark_spam

The directory sheet names this tool, yet Superhuman's help article on its server never mentions it and no other official text describes it. Nothing is stated here about its effect. If Claude calls it, Superhuman's default of confirming every action and Claude's general approval rule both apply.

get_labels

Only its name appears on the directory sheet. Superhuman's help article on its server never mentions this name, and no other official source documents it. Its behaviour is therefore not described on this page. Any call falls under Superhuman's default of confirming every action and Claude's general approval rule.

Approvals

What Claude asks before acting

By default, Claude stops and asks for your go-ahead before any action it takes on an account in your place. Superhuman goes further: by default the assistant asks you to confirm every action, reading included.

That safety net can be loosened. In Claude, admins set each Superhuman Mail tool to Always Allow or Needs approval from the organisation's connector settings, and users with the right permissions adjust it from their own connector settings. Superhuman also says the server can run in read-only mode. Owners of a Team or Enterprise workspace can bound what the connector may do for everyone. Claude works with your mailbox rights and nothing beyond them.

Plans

Which plans include it

None of the 819 sheets in the official directory displays availability by Claude plan. Connector by connector, the answer is published nowhere: it is a real gap in the catalogue.

What is published is the general rule: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables the connector for the organisation before each member signs in. For the current state of this one, check its sheet in the official directory. Note that only Superhuman documents it; no Claude help article covers it.

Limits

Where the Claude Superhuman Mail connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you: nothing fires when a new email arrives, and Superhuman says its server does no scheduling.

The tool list is an observed floor, not a promise: an administrator can open actions that no public sheet shows. The partner badge in the directory is not a security audit, and Anthropic says on every sheet that it does not choose the tools a publisher exposes and cannot guarantee they behave as announced. Superhuman adds a data point worth knowing: what the server returns, email content included, is sent to the AI provider, and its own retention commitments cover only its built-in AI.

FAQ

Questions about the Claude Superhuman Mail connector

01What can Claude do with the Superhuman Mail connector?
Claude can search and act on your Superhuman Mail inbox and calendar from a conversation. Eight tools read: attachments, split inboxes, single messages, full threads, filtered thread searches, read statuses, free slots and a natural-language search. Nine tools write: drafts, events, discarding drafts, sending, trashing, undoing a send, unsubscribing, updating personalization and updating threads. Two more tools on the directory sheet are not described anywhere, so this page says nothing about them.
02Can Claude send email from Superhuman Mail on my behalf?
Yes. Superhuman confirms the send tool lets the assistant send email directly, not just draft it, with Smart Send, scheduled sending and Undo Send available. Superhuman also states that you must approve the tool and that the server can run in read-only mode. Its strong advice is to keep a confirmation on every send, because without it the tool can send instantly. Attachments cannot be sent through the server yet.
03Does Claude ask before acting in Superhuman Mail?
By default, yes. Superhuman says the assistant asks you to confirm every action, from reading emails to creating drafts and sending, and Claude's own default is to ask before any action on an account. Admins can set each tool to Always Allow or Needs approval in the organisation's connector settings, and users with the right permissions can adjust it under Configure. Superhuman recommends leaving the send tool on Needs approval.
04Which Claude plans include the Superhuman Mail connector?
No official source publishes Claude plan availability connector by connector, and none of the 819 directory sheets shows it. The general rule says remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, with an Owner or Primary Owner enabling them first on Team and Enterprise. Superhuman's own requirement concerns its subscription, not Claude's. Only the connector's sheet in the directory shows its current state for your account.
05Does Claude see all my linked Superhuman accounts?
Claude works with the access you grant and acts on your default account unless you name another. Superhuman lets you link several Gmail or Outlook accounts on your own seat, and recommends telling Claude explicitly when it should look across all of them; an address belonging to someone else's seat cannot be linked. On the Claude side, an owner of your workspace can restrict what the connector may do for everyone.
06Why are Claude's drafts missing from Gmail or Outlook?
Because drafts made through the connector live in Superhuman Mail. Superhuman explains that drafts created by its server appear in the Mail drafts folder, while drafts from other tools like Gmail or Outlook do not yet appear in Mail, and the reverse holds too. If a draft card shows up from the Gmail or Outlook connector instead, Superhuman notes it was created outside its server; adding a request to use Superhuman Mail in the prompt helps.
07Claude or an automation tool for Superhuman Mail?
They do different jobs, so it depends on the use. Claude with this connector handles inbox work you direct in the moment: triage, replies in your voice, a meeting booked from a thread. Superhuman itself points out its server does no scheduling, and says recurring tasks are set up through the AI assistant; an automation platform is the other route, reacting to events on its own. This site has no n8n, Make or Zapier page for Superhuman Mail.
