What does the Canva Make integration let you automate?

The Canva Make integration links your Canva account to Make, so a scenario (the automation you build, a chain of steps) can create designs, move files between folders, upload images and post comments for you. Each step is a module: one brick that does one job in one app. No code is involved: you pick modules and fill in their fields.

A design for every new product. An online store adds a product in its catalog tool, and Create a Design opens a fresh Canva design for it. Once the visual is approved, Export a Design turns it into a file in the format you chose, ready for a drive or store module to pick up.

Brand-safe visuals at volume. On a Canva Enterprise plan, Autofill a Design from a Brand Template fills a locked template with data from another app, so a sales team gets on-brand one-pagers without redoing the layout.

A tidy library. Create a Folder, Move a Folder Item and Delete an Image keep campaigns sorted as projects open and close in your project tool.

What Make does not do here: Canva has no trigger module in Make, so nothing in Canva starts a scenario by itself; the start comes from another app or from a schedule. The brand template modules only work on a Canva Enterprise plan, and images are reserved to paid Canva accounts. New to the editor? How do you connect your Canva account to Make?

    Add a Canva module

    Log in to Make, open a scenario and add any Canva module. In the module window, click Create a connection. A connection is your Canva account linked to Make once, then reused by every Canva module you add later.

    Name it, then save

    The Connection name field is optional, but a clear name such as "Canva marketing team" helps when several accounts coexist. Leave Show advanced settings off unless you run your own Canva app, then click Save.

    Confirm access in Canva

    If Canva asks, sign in to your account and confirm that Make may access it. You land back in the module, and Make can now list your folders and designs in the fields instead of asking you to type them.

First scenario

Your first scenario: a Canva design for each new product

GoalWhen a product is added to your catalog in another app, Make creates a Canva design for it and exports the result.

    Create the scenario

    On the Scenarios page, create a new scenario and click the big +. Add the module of the app where products appear, for example a spreadsheet that watches new rows. It will be the starting point.

    Add Create a Design

    Click the + on the right of that first module, search for Canva and pick Create a Design. Choose your Canva connection, then fill the fields Make shows, mapping the product data from the previous module.

    Add Export a Design

    Add Export a Design after it and map the design coming from the previous module. Pick the format you want. The exported file can then go to a drive or an email module of another app.

    Test with Run once

    Click Run once. Make runs the scenario a single time and shows, above each module, the bundles it received (a bundle is one item passing from module to module). Check that the design and the export look right.

    Schedule and switch on

    Open the clock on the first module: a new scenario checks every 15 minutes by default, and 15 minutes is also the shortest gap on the Free plan. Then switch the scenario on, and it runs by itself.

Watch out
the Canva documentation reserves images to paid Canva accounts, so check your plan before building on this group.

01Is the Canva Make integration free?
Yes, Canva is a standard app in Make, available from the Free plan. The Free plan allows 2 active scenarios, a 15 minute minimum between scheduled runs, 5 minutes of execution per run, files up to 5 MB and 512 MB of data transfer. Paid plans (Core, Pro, Teams, Enterprise) lower the gap to 1 minute and count usage in credits per month. On the Canva side, images need a paid Canva account and brand templates need a Canva Enterprise plan.
02What do you need to connect Canva to Make?
A Canva account and a Make account are enough to start. Add any Canva module, click Create a connection, give it a name if you want, then Save and confirm access if Canva asks. Teams running their own Canva app can open Show advanced settings, enter the client credentials and use the Redirect URI https://www.make.com/oauth/cb/canva. Keep in mind that the image modules need a paid Canva account and the brand template modules a Canva Enterprise plan.
03Can a Canva Make scenario start in real time?
Not from Canva itself: the app has no trigger module in Make, so no Canva event starts a scenario. Two options remain. Start from another app's trigger, such as a new row in a spreadsheet or a new deal in a CRM, then add the Canva modules. Or start with a Canva module and let Make's schedule run it, every 15 minutes by default, down to 1 minute on paid plans.
04What if a Canva module is missing in Make?
Use Make an API Call. It reaches any endpoint of the Canva API with the connection you already created, so an action that has no dedicated module is still possible. Check the limits first, though: if the gap is about brand templates, the Canva API itself requires a Canva Enterprise plan, and a custom call will not bypass that. For the two comment modules without an official description, compare them with the Beta versions and test with Run once.
05Should you use Make or n8n for Canva?
It depends on the tool you already run. On the Make side, Canva comes with 21 modules covering images, brand templates, designs, folders and comments, plus Make an API Call for the rest. n8n often offers a node for the same apps, so check its catalog for Canva before deciding. Neither tool is ranked here: compare the modules you need, the way each tool counts usage and how comfortable your team feels in each editor.
