What you can automate

What can the Contactship AI Phone Calling Make integration do?

The Contactship AI Phone Calling Make integration links your Contactship account to Make so another tool can start an AI phone call for you. You build a scenario, the automation you assemble in Make as a chain of modules, and each module is one brick of it: here, three actions that act on Contactship.

Call a lead the moment it exists. A contact form, a spreadsheet or a CRM sits first in the scenario, and Make AI Phone Call comes next. Each contact that reaches Make travels as a bundle, one item passed from a module to the next, and the call module handles it.

Check your balance before a batch of calls. Put Get Credits ahead of the call module when a list of contacts is about to go out, so you can see what your Contactship account still holds before spending it.

Reach what the menu does not show. With only three modules, gaps are likely. Make an API Call sends a request to any endpoint of the Contactship API through the same connection, which covers the rest.

One limit to keep in mind: the app has no trigger, so Contactship cannot start a scenario by itself. Another app, or the schedule of the scenario, has to do that. The Contactship documentation on Make also warns that it was generated by AI and may contain mistakes, so check anything critical with the vendor.

Connect

How do you connect Contactship AI Phone Calling to Make?

  1. 01

Generate an API key in Contactship

You need an active Contactship account. In its sidebar, open the Organizations menu, choose API Keys, click Generate Key and copy the key shown on screen. Keep it somewhere safe for the next step.

  2. 02

Add a module and open the connection form

In your Make scenario, search for Contactship AI Phone Calling, pick any of its modules and click Create a connection. A connection is your Contactship account linked to Make once, then reused by all three modules.

  3. 03

Name it and paste the key

The Connection name field is optional, but a clear name helps when several accounts coexist. Paste the API key you copied, or follow the on-screen instructions, and save. The module fields become available right after.

First scenario

Your first scenario with Contactship AI Phone Calling

GoalWhen a new lead arrives in your form or CRM, Make runs Make AI Phone Call so Contactship starts the call.

  1. 01

    Create the scenario

From the Scenarios page, create a new scenario and click the +. Pick the app where your leads land, a form tool or a spreadsheet, as the first module.

  2. 02

    Add Make AI Phone Call

Click the + on the right of the first module, search for Contactship AI Phone Calling and choose Make AI Phone Call. Select the connection you created earlier.

  3. 03

    Map the lead data

Fill the fields the module asks for, mapping the contact details from the first module instead of typing them. Each lead then feeds its own values into the call.

  4. 04

    Test with Run once

Add a test lead, preferably your own number, and click Run once. Open the bubble above each module to read the bundles it received and confirm the call started.

  5. 05

    Schedule and switch on

Click the clock on the first module to set the schedule, every 15 minutes by default, then switch the scenario on. New leads are picked up on that rhythm.

Modules

What each Contactship AI Phone Calling module does

Contactship AI Phone Calling gives you 3 modules. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

Contactship AI Phone Calling1

Get Credits

ActionIn the docs only

Going by its name, this action reads the credit balance of your Contactship account, which lets a scenario look at what is left before it places calls. The documentation on Make gives no detail on what it returns, so run it once and read the output bundle.

When to use it
right before a batch of calls, or in a small separate scenario that keeps an eye on your balance.
Watch out
Contactship credits and Make credits are two different counters; this module says nothing about your Make plan.
Contactship AI Phone Calling2

Make AI Phone Call

ActionIn the docs only

This is the module that matters most here: as its name says, it asks Contactship to place an AI phone call from inside your scenario. The Make documentation lists no fields for it, so open the module after connecting and Make shows what it expects.

When to use it
after the module that brings in a contact, such as a new form entry or a new CRM record.
Watch out
an action handles one bundle at a time, so ten rows coming in mean ten calls and ten operations.
Contactship AI Phone Calling3

Make an API Call

ActionIn the docs only

Your way out when the two other modules fall short: it calls any endpoint of the Contactship API with the connection you already set up, so there is no second key to manage. You write the request yourself, following the Contactship API documentation.

When to use it
when you need something neither Get Credits nor Make AI Phone Call offers.
Watch out
a request that edits or deletes data runs for real the moment you click Run once, so test it on a harmless record first.

FAQ

Contactship AI Phone Calling and Make: common questions

01Is the Contactship AI Phone Calling Make integration free?
Yes, on the Make side. Contactship AI Phone Calling is a standard app, available from the Free plan. That plan allows 2 active scenarios, at least 15 minutes between two scheduled runs, up to 5 minutes per execution, files up to 5 MB and 512 MB of data transfer. Paid plans lower the interval to 1 minute and remove the cap on active scenarios. Each module run counts as one operation on your plan. Contactship itself needs an active account with its own subscription, described on the Contactship pricing page, which is separate from anything you pay Make.
02What do you need to connect Contactship AI Phone Calling to Make?
An active Contactship AI Phone Calling account and an API key. To get the key, open the Organizations menu in the Contactship sidebar, select API Keys, click Generate Key and copy the value displayed. In Make, add any Contactship module, click Create a connection, give it a name if you like and paste the key. The same connection then serves all three modules, including Make an API Call, so the key only needs to be entered once per account.
03Can Contactship AI Phone Calling start a Make scenario in real time?
No. The app has no trigger module, scheduled or instant, so Contactship cannot launch a scenario on its own. Two ways around it. Put another app first, such as a form or a CRM, and let its trigger start the flow before Make AI Phone Call runs. Or rely on the schedule of the scenario, set with the clock on the first module, every 15 minutes by default and never under 15 minutes on the Free plan. Whether instant or scheduled depends on that first app, not on Contactship.
04What if a Contactship AI Phone Calling module is missing in Make?
It depends on what you need, but Make an API Call usually solves it. This module can call any endpoint of the Contactship API with your existing connection, so anything the API offers is reachable even without a dedicated module. You build the request from the Contactship API documentation. Keep in mind that the Contactship page in the Make documentation states it was generated by AI and may contain mistakes, so confirm important details with Contactship directly before relying on them in a live scenario.
05Make or n8n for Contactship AI Phone Calling?
It depends on which tool covers what you need. On Make, the app offers 3 modules: Get Credits, Make AI Phone Call and Make an API Call, the last one reaching any endpoint of the Contactship API. No trigger exists, so another app or a schedule starts each scenario. Before choosing, check whether the other tool has a Contactship node with the actions you plan to use, then compare how each one counts usage. The n8n vs Make comparison on this site lays out both tools side by side.
