What you can automate

What can the DataForSEO Make integration do for you?

The DataForSEO Make integration lets a Make scenario, the automation you build step by step, ask DataForSEO for SEO data and pass the answer to your other apps. Each module is one brick of that scenario, and every item it returns, called a bundle, can be mapped into the next step.

A prospect file that fills itself. When a new domain lands in your lead list, Get Backlink Summary and Get Domain Rank Overview add its link profile and organic visibility, so sales opens the record with context instead of a blank page.

A keyword shortlist ready for writers. Start from a seed term with Get Keyword Suggestions, score the results with Get Keyword Difficulty, then send the easier terms to the content calendar. Get Google Search Volume adds cost per click and competition when an ads team shares the list.

A link audit you can repeat. Get Referring Domains lists who links to a site, and Get Bulk Spam Scores flags the risky ones, a thousand targets per call, before a human reviews them.

Two limits are worth knowing. DataForSEO has no trigger in Make: every module is an action, so a scenario starts on its schedule or from another app. The documentation also gives no numeric limit, which means the Run once test is how you learn what each module returns. The same app often exists in n8n too; the n8n vs Make comparison lays out the differences, our Make review covers the editor itself, and Make pricing explains how operations are counted.

Connect

How do you connect DataForSEO to Make?

  1. 01

    Add a DataForSEO module

In your scenario, click the +, search for DataForSEO and pick any module, for example Get Backlink Summary. Then click Create a connection. A connection is your DataForSEO account linked to Make once, reused by every DataForSEO module afterwards.

  2. 02

    Paste your API credentials

Open your DataForSEO account and copy the API credentials it gives you. Back in Make, name the connection if you like, then paste those values into the Login and Password fields. You need a DataForSEO account for this, created on dataforseo.com.

  3. 03

    Save and check the fields

Click Save. Make closes the window and shows the module settings again, now tied to your account. If the fields load without an error, the connection works and every other DataForSEO module can use it right away.

First scenario

Your first scenario with DataForSEO and Make

GoalWhen a new domain is added to your prospect list, Make fetches its backlink summary and its organic rank overview from DataForSEO.

  1. 01

    Create the scenario

From the Scenarios page, create a new scenario and click the +. Add the module of the app that holds your prospect list, the one that outputs a new domain for each new entry.

  2. 02

    Add Get Backlink Summary

Click the + on the right, search DataForSEO and pick Get Backlink Summary. Select your connection, then map the domain from the first module into the target field.

  3. 03

    Chain Get Domain Rank Overview

Add a second DataForSEO module, Get Domain Rank Overview, and map the same domain again. You now have link data and organic visibility for one prospect in a single pass.

  4. 04

    Test with Run once

Click Run once. Make runs the scenario one time; open the bubble above each module to read the bundles it received and check the figures look sensible.

  5. 05

    Schedule and switch it on

Click the clock on the first module. A new scenario checks every 15 minutes by default, and the Free plan cannot go lower. Save, then switch the scenario on.

Modules

What each DataForSEO module does in Make

DataForSEO gives you 33 modules in 6 groups. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

Backlinks

9 modules
DataForSEO2

Get Backlink Summary

Action

In MakeGet an overview of backlink data for a domain, subdomain, or webpage.

One call gives you the big picture of a link profile: an overview of the backlink data for a domain, a subdomain or a page, returned as a single result rather than a long list.

When to use it
a prospect fills in your contact form and you want a quick read on their site before the first meeting.
Watch out
it summarizes; when you need the linking pages themselves, add Get Backlinks instead.
DataForSEO3

Get Historical Backlink Summary

Action

In MakeGet historical backlink data for a domain back to the beginning of 2019.

This module shows how the link profile of a domain has moved over time, with history reaching back to the beginning of 2019. You see growth, drops and plateaus instead of a single snapshot.

When to use it
after a site migration or a sudden traffic loss, to line up the backlink picture of today against earlier periods and spot when things changed.
DataForSEO4

Get Bulk Backlink Rank

Action

In MakeGet rank scores for up to 1,000 domains, subdomains, and pages.

Hand it up to a thousand domains, subdomains or pages at once and it sends back a rank score for each. Comparing a batch of candidates becomes one step instead of a long chain.

When to use it
you gathered sites for a guest posting campaign and want them sorted by rank before anyone writes a pitch.
Watch out
keep the whole batch in one call rather than one module per site, which also keeps your operation count low.
DataForSEO5

Get Bulk Backlink Stats

Action

In MakeGet the number of backlinks for up to 1,000 domains, subdomains, and pages.

Need the backlink count for a whole list in one go? This module returns the number of backlinks for up to a thousand targets, and you can mix domains, subdomains and pages in the same batch.

When to use it
a competitor list sits in a spreadsheet and you only need one figure per line to spot the heavyweights.
Watch out
it gives counts, not links; switch to Get Backlinks when someone asks which sites they are.
DataForSEO6

Get Backlinks Pages Summary

Action

In MakeGet an overview overview of backlinks and associated data in bulk.

This module returns an overview of backlinks and the data attached to them for several targets at once, which saves you from running a summary module target by target.

When to use it
an audit where you hold a batch of URLs and want link data on all of them in one pass.
Watch out
the directory describes it in a single line, so click Run once and read the bundles before you map anything into another app.
DataForSEO7

Get Bulk Referring Domain Stats

Action

In MakeGet the number of referring domains for up to 1,000 domains, subdomains, and pages.

You learn how many distinct websites link to each target, for up to a thousand domains, subdomains or pages per call. One site can link many times, so this count tells you how wide a network really is.

When to use it
trimming a prospect list down to sites with a real network of linking domains behind them.
Watch out
pair it with Get Bulk Backlink Stats only when you need both figures, since each module costs its own operation.
DataForSEO8

Get Referring Domains

Action

In MakeGet a detailed overview of referring domains pointing to the target you specify.

Here is the detailed view: the referring domains pointing at the target you choose, each with its related data. Where the bulk module only counts, this one names the sites.

When to use it
preparing a link reclamation campaign and needing the actual domains to contact.
Watch out
a site with many referrers can return a long list; if Run once shows one bundle per domain, add an aggregator further down to gather them into one table.
DataForSEO9

Get Bulk Spam Scores

Action

In MakeGet Spam Scores for up to 1,000 domains, subdomains, and pages.

Before you chase or keep a link, this module flags risk: it returns Spam Scores for up to a thousand domains, subdomains or pages in a single call.

When to use it
a link audit where a long list of referring domains needs a first sort before a person looks closer.
Watch out
a score is a signal to review, not a verdict; keep the decision to disavow or remove with someone who checks the site.

SERP

1 module
DataForSEO10

Get Parsed SERP

Action

In MakeGet Google Search results for the specified keyword.

Type a keyword and this module brings back the Google Search results for it, already parsed so each result can be mapped cleanly into the next module.

When to use it
tracking where your pages and your competitors appear for the queries a client cares about, then logging positions in a sheet.
Watch out
Get Parsed SERP Advanced exists further down this page; run both once and keep the one whose bundles suit your report.

Business Data

3 modules
DataForSEO11

Get Search Business Listings

ActionIn the docs only

This Business Data module appears in the DataForSEO documentation without an official description, so the safest way to learn what it gives you is to add it, click Run once and read the output.

When to use it
you are exploring local business data and want to compare its results with Search Business Listings.
Watch out
nothing documents its fields yet, so keep it out of a live scenario until the test bundles look right.
DataForSEO12

Get Business Listings Categories Aggregation

Action

In MakeGet data about groups of related business categories along with the number of entities in each category.

You get groups of related business categories along with the number of entities in each, which helps size a local market before you study it business by business.

When to use it
an agency scoping a local SEO offer for dentists wants to see which neighboring categories exist and how many listings each holds.
Watch out
the output describes categories, not individual businesses; use Search Business Listings for those.
DataForSEO13

Get Google Reviews

Action

In MakeFetch reviews and related data from millions of Google Business Profiles around the world.

Reviews left on Google Business Profiles land in your scenario with their related data, for businesses anywhere in the world, so they can reach a sheet or a team channel.

When to use it
a brand with several locations wants the reviews of each store gathered in one place for the people who answer them.
Watch out
a busy profile can return a long list; if each review arrives as its own bundle, every later module counts an operation for it.

On Page

2 modules
DataForSEO14

Get Page Audit Check

Action

In MakeRun an essential SEO Audit of a page.

This module runs an essential SEO audit on the page you name and hands the findings to the next step, so a quick check does not require opening a separate tool.

When to use it
a landing page goes live and you want its basic SEO checked before the campaign link is shared.
Watch out
it audits one page per bundle; to check a batch, place it after a module that outputs several URLs.
DataForSEO15

Parse Page Content

Action

In MakeGet parsed and structured content of any page, including link URLs, anchors, headings, and text.

Any web page comes back as structured content: link URLs, anchors, headings and text, separated and ready to map into another app.

When to use it
pulling the outline of a competing article into a content brief, or listing the headings of your own page to compare them.
Watch out
a long page produces a lot of text; map only the parts you need so the next app does not receive a wall of content.

Labs

7 modules
DataForSEO16

Get Domain Rank Overview

Action

In MakeGet ranking and traffic data from organic search for a domain.

For any domain, this module returns ranking and traffic data from organic search, a fast picture of how visible the site is.

When to use it
a sales call is booked with a prospect and you want their organic footprint written into the CRM record before it starts.
Watch out
it works at domain level; for the keyword detail behind those figures, add Get Ranked Keywords.
DataForSEO17

Get Keyword Suggestions

Action

In MakeGet long-tail keyword phrases that contain your specified keyword.

Give it a seed keyword and you receive long tail phrases that contain it, the longer variations people search around your topic.

When to use it
building a content plan around a product name and wanting every longer phrase that includes it.
Watch out
every suggestion contains your seed; for related terms that do not, Get Keyword Ideas casts a wider net.
DataForSEO18

Get Ranked Keywords

Action

In MakeGet the list of keywords that any domain or webpage is ranking for.

Point it at a domain or a single page and you get the list of keywords it ranks for, which shows where its organic traffic actually comes from.

When to use it
studying a competitor blog post to see which queries it wins before you write your own version.
Watch out
a large site returns a long list; test with a single page first to keep the Run once output readable.
DataForSEO19

Get Keyword Difficulty

Action

In MakeGet Keyword Difficulty for the specified keywords.

Each keyword in your list comes back with a Keyword Difficulty score, the figure that tells you how hard a term will be to rank for.

When to use it
right after Get Keyword Suggestions, to sort the long list and hand writers the terms a younger site can realistically target.
Watch out
send the keywords as one list in a single call instead of one module run per term.
DataForSEO20

Get Organic Traffic Stats

Action

In MakeGet an estimation of monthly organic traffic a website or page.

This module estimates the monthly organic traffic of a website or a page, so you can size a competitor or a potential partner in one step.

When to use it
qualifying sites for a partnership and wanting an order of magnitude next to each name.
Watch out
the figure is an estimate; label it that way when it ends up in a client report.
DataForSEO21

Get Historical Traffic Stats

Action

In MakeGet a historical estimate of organic traffic for a website or page.

Where the previous module gives a current estimate, this one returns a historical estimate of organic traffic for a site or page, so trends become visible.

When to use it
a client says traffic fell after a redesign, and you want to see whether the organic curve agrees.
Watch out
compare periods for the same target only; mixing a page and its whole domain in one chart gives misleading curves.
DataForSEO22

Get Keyword Ideas

Action

In MakeGet search terms that fall into the same Google product or service category as the specified keywords.

Keyword Ideas reaches beyond your own wording: it returns search terms that fall into the same Google product or service category as the keywords you enter.

When to use it
a new service page needs topics your team would not have thought of, not just variations of the main term.
Watch out
the ideas follow a category, so some will be off topic; review the list before it feeds a content plan.

Other modules

11 modules
DataForSEO23

Get AI Keyword Search Volume

Action

In MakeGet search volume data for target keywords based on their estimated usage in AI tools.

This module gives a search volume for your target keywords based on their estimated use in AI tools, a different angle from classic search volume.

When to use it
deciding which topics deserve content written for people who ask assistants instead of typing into Google.
Watch out
it is an estimate of usage; set it next to Get Google Search Volume rather than treating it as a replacement.
DataForSEO24

Get Finance Explore

Action

In MakeGet real-time data from the ‘Explore’ tab of Google Finance.

You receive the data shown in the Explore tab of Google Finance, pulled into Make so it can feed a sheet, a message or a dashboard.

When to use it
a finance newsletter team wants the themes surfaced by Google Finance collected before they draft an issue.
Watch out
this is the Explore tab only; market indexes and single quotes each have their own module below.
DataForSEO25

Get Finance Markets

Action

In MakeGet real-time data from the ‘Markets’ tab of Google Finance.

This module retrieves what the Markets tab of Google Finance displays, giving your scenario a broad market picture without anyone copying numbers by hand.

When to use it
an internal report opens with a market overview, and you want that section filled automatically when the report is generated.
Watch out
for one specific stock, Get Finance Quote is the more direct choice.
DataForSEO26

Get Finance Quote

Action

In MakeGet real-time data from the ‘Quote’ tab of Google Finance.

For a single instrument, this module returns the data from the Quote tab of Google Finance, the page you would open to check one stock.

When to use it
an investor relations sheet needs the latest quote of a listed company added whenever someone updates the file.
Watch out
Run once shows what the module expects; if you only know the company name, Search Google Finance Tickers returns the identifiers of matching instruments.
DataForSEO27

Get Google AI Mode SERP

Action

In MakeGet search results from the AI Mode feature of Google Search.

See what Google shows in AI Mode for a query: this module returns the search results of that Google Search feature so you can store and compare them.

When to use it
checking whether your brand or your pages are cited when Google answers a question in AI Mode.
Watch out
AI Mode results and classic results differ, so keep them in separate columns when you track both.
DataForSEO28

Get Google Search Volume

Action

In MakeGet search volume, CPC, and competition for keywords.

Three figures per keyword come back: search volume, cost per click and competition, for the terms you send in the call.

When to use it
an ads team and an SEO team share one keyword sheet and both want the same numbers next to each term.
Watch out
cost per click comes from paid search, so treat it as a clue to commercial intent, not as an SEO metric.
DataForSEO29

Get Keywords for Keywords

Action

In MakeGet relevant keyword suggestions for the specified terms.

Feed in a few terms and it returns relevant keyword suggestions for them, a broader starting list for keyword research.

When to use it
a client sends three words describing their offer, and you need a proper list to discuss in the kickoff meeting.
Watch out
it overlaps with Get Keyword Ideas; run both once on the same input and keep the one whose output fits your method.
DataForSEO30

Get Parsed SERP Advanced

Action

In MakeGet Advanced Google Search results for the specified keyword.

This is the advanced version of the Google results module: it returns advanced Google Search results for the keyword you specify, parsed for mapping.

When to use it
your report needs more than the plain organic list, and the basic Get Parsed SERP output left gaps.
Watch out
click Run once, compare the output with Get Parsed SERP and map only the elements your sheet has columns for.
DataForSEO31

Make an API Call

Action

In MakePerforms an arbitrary authorized API call.

Anything the listed modules do not cover stays reachable: this module calls any endpoint of the DataForSEO API from your scenario, using the same connection.

When to use it
you need a DataForSEO endpoint that has no dedicated module in Make.
Watch out
you write the request yourself, so keep the DataForSEO API documentation open to find the endpoint and what it expects.
DataForSEO32

Search Business Listings

Action

In MakeGet information about businesses listed on Google Maps in the specified categories.

You get information about businesses listed on Google Maps in the categories you specify, a ready list of local companies to study or contact.

When to use it
building a prospect list of restaurants or plumbers in a given category for a local marketing offer.
Watch out
a wide category can return a long list; if each business arrives as its own bundle, the modules that follow spend an operation on every one.
DataForSEO33

Search Google Finance Tickers

Action

In MakeSearch by company name, market, or financial instrument to get Google Finance data on stocks, futures, and asset pairs, their value, growth trends, and identifiers.

Type a company name, a market or an instrument and this module finds matching Google Finance entries: stocks, futures and asset pairs with their value, growth trends and identifiers.

When to use it
you know a company by name and need its identifier before calling Get Finance Quote.
Watch out
several entries can match one name; pick the right one before mapping the identifier forward.

FAQ

Questions about the DataForSEO Make integration

01Is the DataForSEO Make integration free?
Yes, on the Make side. DataForSEO is a standard app, available from the Free plan. That plan allows 2 active scenarios, a minimum of 15 minutes between two scheduled runs, 5 minutes of execution per run, files up to 5 MB and 512 MB of data transfer. Paid plans (Core, Pro, Teams and Enterprise) lower the interval to 1 minute, remove the cap on active scenarios and count usage in credits, meaning operations, per month. The price of your DataForSEO account itself is a separate matter this page does not cover.
02What do you need to connect DataForSEO to Make?
A DataForSEO account, created on dataforseo.com, and the API credentials shown inside it. In Make, add any DataForSEO module, click Create a connection, give it a name if you want, then paste those credentials into the Login and Password fields and click Save. The connection is stored once and every DataForSEO module of your scenarios can reuse it. If Make asks for reauthorization later, the Make documentation describes how to renew the connection.
03Can the DataForSEO Make integration react in real time?
No, because DataForSEO has no trigger in Make: all 33 modules are actions. A scenario therefore starts in one of two ways. Either it runs on its schedule, set with the clock on the first module, every 15 minutes by default and never under 15 minutes on the Free plan. Or it starts from the trigger of another app, such as a new row in a list of domains, and the DataForSEO modules run right after it. If that other app has an instant trigger, this second route lets DataForSEO run as soon as the event happens.
04What if a DataForSEO module is missing in Make?
Use Make an API Call. It is part of the 33 modules and lets a scenario call any endpoint of the DataForSEO API with the same connection, so data without a dedicated module stays reachable. You write the request yourself with the DataForSEO API documentation at hand. The Make documentation for this app gives no numeric limit, so the practical check is to click Run once on a small input and read the bundles before scaling the scenario up.
05Should you use Make or n8n for DataForSEO?
It depends on the tool your team already runs. DataForSEO, like many apps, is often available in n8n as well, so the choice rarely comes down to whether the connector exists. On Make, you get 33 ready modules covering backlinks, SERPs, Labs keyword data, business listings and Google Finance, plus Make an API Call for the rest, all driven from the visual editor described on this page. Compare the modules you need on each side before committing a workflow to one of them.
