Overview

What the Affiliatly Zapier integration actually does

Affiliatly tracks which affiliate brought which sale to an online store. Zapier is a tool that links apps without code: when something happens in one, it does something in another. Here, Affiliatly can only start the automation. It reports seven kinds of events, and another app takes over from there.

Three results people usually build. A sales ledger per partner: every time New Order Tracked fires, a row lands in a spreadsheet, so finance sees affiliate revenue without logging in. A clean partner roster in the CRM: New Affiliate Registration adds the person to your contact list, and Removed Affiliate flags them when staff close the account. A payout desk that never forgets: Affiliate Reached Payout pings whoever pays partners, and Marked Payout Affiliate confirms it once the earnings are marked as paid.

What Zapier does not do for Affiliatly: it cannot write anything back. There is no action and no search on this app, so a Zap cannot create an affiliate, edit an order or mark a payout. Those stay in Affiliatly itself. The integration is one-way, outbound only.

The good news is the speed. All seven triggers are instant, which matters a lot on a free plan (more on that below). If you are weighing other tools for the same job, the n8n vs Zapier and Make vs Zapier comparisons cover the trade-offs criterion by criterion.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Seven words come back on every line of this page. Here they are in plain English.

Zap
The automation you build: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it. On Affiliatly, every operation is one.
Action
What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or moves something. Here it always comes from another app.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan counts these, nothing else.
Polling vs instant
Polling: Zapier checks the app on a timer. Instant: the app calls Zapier the moment the event happens. Affiliatly is instant only.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
Connection
Your Affiliatly account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Zap that starts from it.
Cost

What it really costs

Affiliatly is not a premium app, so it works from the free plan.

  • Premium appNo
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Trigger cost0 task
  • Affiliatly triggers7 instant, 0 polling

The trigger never costs a task. Only an action that succeeds is counted, and a failed one is not. A Zap with three actions eats three tasks per event. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps, and only two-step Zaps: one trigger, one action. Add a filter and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid (15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional, 1 on Team and Enterprise) applies to polling triggers only, so it never slows Affiliatly down.

Connect

Connect Affiliatly to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Open your connections

In Zapier, go to the Apps page of your account and click + Add connection. A dialog opens with a search box: type Affiliatly and pick it from the list.

  2. 02

    Sign in to Affiliatly

Click Add connection. A new tab opens on Affiliatly. Sign in with the account that runs your affiliate program, since the Zap will only see what that account can see.

  3. 03

    Grant access

Allow Zapier to use the account. The connection now sits on your Apps page, and every Zap that starts from Affiliatly reuses it, so you only do this once per account.

First Zap

Your first Zap: tracked orders into a sheet, filtered by size

GoalLog only the larger affiliate orders in a spreadsheet the finance team already reads.

  1. 01

    Build the trigger

Create a Zap, pick Affiliatly as the app and New Order Tracked as the event, then choose the Affiliatly connection you set up earlier.

  2. 02

    Test with a real order

Run the trigger test. Zapier brings back the three most recent tracked orders of the account, so you map fields on a real one rather than a blank.

  3. 03

    Add the filter

Click the plus icon, choose Filter, then set the field, a number rule and your value. A text rule on a number never passes. This step makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.

  4. 04

    Add the action

Add the spreadsheet app as the action and map the order fields from the test into the columns. Each row written costs one task.

  5. 05

    Publish

Test each step once, read what came back, then click Publish. From now on, each new tracked order above the threshold lands in the sheet.

Triggers

The 7 Affiliatly triggers

7 events start a Zap when something happens in Affiliatly, and 7 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

Updated Affiliate

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when there is an update in the affiliate's data made by the administrator or staff member.”

Fires when an administrator or a staff member changes the data of an existing affiliate. The Zap gets the affiliate record as it stands after the edit, ready to copy elsewhere.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
keep the partner sheet or CRM in step when your team corrects a partner's details in Affiliatly.
Watch out
it covers edits made by an administrator or a staff member, so do not count on it when a partner updates their own details.
2

Updated Order

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when the order's data is edited in the app, manually or automatically.”

Starts the Zap when an order already in Affiliatly is edited, whether someone changes it by hand or the app updates it on its own. You receive the order with its new values.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
update the matching row in your sales ledger instead of leaving the first version there.
Watch out
pair it with New Order Tracked in two separate Zaps, otherwise edited orders and new ones end up mixed in one place.
3

New Affiliate Registration

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when new affiliate registers for your affiliate program and includes the affiliate's data.”

Runs each time someone signs up to your affiliate program, and carries the new affiliate's data into the Zap. It is the natural entry point for any onboarding flow.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
send a welcome email from your mail tool, or add the newcomer to a partner list in your CRM.
Watch out
people who registered before the Zap went live are not sent, so import that list another way.
4

New Order Tracked

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when new order is tracked and associated with an affiliate.”

Kicks in when a new order is tracked and linked to an affiliate. This is the sale your partner brought, delivered to the Zap with its data as soon as Affiliatly records it.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
log affiliate revenue in a spreadsheet, or post a short note in the sales channel.
Watch out
on a busy store, every order means one task per action, and 100 tasks a month go fast on the free plan.
5

Marked Payout Affiliate

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when the affiliate's earnings were marked as paid.”

Fires once an affiliate's earnings have been marked as paid in Affiliatly. It closes the payout loop: money owed has now been flagged as settled.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
send the partner a thank-you note, or tick the payout off in the accounting sheet.
Watch out
it follows the marking in Affiliatly, not the bank transfer, so it only means what your team means by that click.
6

Affiliate Reached Payout

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when the affiliate generated enough earnings and have reached the minimum payout sum.”

Triggers when an affiliate has earned enough to reach the minimum payout sum set in the program. It is the moment someone needs to be paid.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
open a to-do for the person who pays partners, so nobody waits past the threshold.
Watch out
the threshold lives in Affiliatly; the Zap cannot change it or mark the payout itself, since the app has no action.
7

Removed Affiliate

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when an affiliate's account is removed by the administrator or staff member.”

Someone on your side, an administrator or a staff member, removes an affiliate's account, and this trigger reacts. The Zap learns who left the program, which the other tools would otherwise never hear about.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
tag the contact as a former partner in your CRM, or revoke access to a shared folder by hand.
Watch out
it reacts when an administrator or a staff member removes the account; plan nothing else around it.
When it breaks

When it breaks

Zapier publishes no help article for Affiliatly, so the failures below are the general ones that hit any app.

Four cases come back most often on a trigger-only app like this one.

  • The past is never sent

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Orders and affiliates already in Affiliatly stay where they are; moving them is a separate job.
  • A Zap that loops

If a Zap writes into the very place its own trigger watches, it sets itself off again and again and burns through your tasks fast.
  • Bulk changes held back

A sudden huge batch, after an import or a migration, can be held back by Zapier's flood protection instead of running one Zap per item.
  • Duplicates are filtered

Zapier keeps track of what it has already seen on polling triggers so the same item does not start a Zap twice. Instant triggers report each event as it happens.

FAQ

Affiliatly Zapier integration: questions

01Is the Affiliatly Zapier integration free?
Yes, it works on the free plan, because Affiliatly is not a premium app. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but each Zap is limited to two steps: one Affiliatly trigger and one action in another app. As soon as you add a second action or a filter, the Zap becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan. So a simple order-to-spreadsheet Zap runs for free, while a filtered one does not.
02How many tasks does an Affiliatly Zap use?
None for the trigger itself, one for each action that succeeds. If a tracked order starts a Zap with a single action, that order costs one task. A Zap with three actions costs three per event. An action that fails is not counted. On a store with many affiliate orders, the free allowance of 100 tasks a month can run out quickly, so count your monthly orders before choosing a plan.
03Do Affiliatly triggers run in real time?
Yes. All seven are instant triggers: Affiliatly tells Zapier the moment the event happens, and the Zap starts right away. The plan intervals (15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional, 1 on Team and Enterprise) only apply to polling triggers, which Affiliatly does not have. That is the biggest advantage of this app on a free plan: no waiting for the next check. In the editor, a Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt.
04What does it take to connect Affiliatly to Zapier?
An Affiliatly account, plus access to whatever you want the Zap to see. In Zapier, open the Apps page, click + Add connection, search for Affiliatly, then sign in in the tab that opens and grant access. The connection is saved once and reused by every Zap that starts from Affiliatly. Sign in with the account that runs the program, since a Zap only sees what that account sees. If a teammate set up the program, ask them which account owns it.
05Can Zapier create an affiliate or mark a payout in Affiliatly?
No. The integration has 0 actions and 0 searches, so Zapier can only listen to Affiliatly, never write into it. Creating affiliates, editing orders and marking payouts stay in Affiliatly itself. What a Zap can do is react: when a payout is reached or marked as paid, it can notify someone or update another tool. Plan your automations as one-way flows that leave Affiliatly. Any write-back has to happen by hand in Affiliatly.
06What if the Affiliatly event you want is missing?
Check the seven triggers first: new orders, edited orders, new registrations, edited affiliates, removed affiliates, payout reached and payout marked. If the event you need is not among them, Zapier cannot see it, because the trigger list comes from Affiliatly's own connector. The type of a trigger cannot be changed from the editor either. In that case, that part of the work stays manual in Affiliatly, and the Zap covers the events it does see, such as a payout reached or an order tracked.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Affiliatly?
It depends on the criterion, not on a ranking. On Zapier, all seven Affiliatly triggers are instant and the free plan is enough for two-step Zaps. If your flows need filters or several actions per event, compare what each tool charges for multi-step runs. If you want to host the automation yourself, that changes the picture again. Pick the tool that matches your volume and your team's skills. Start from the flow you want, then check each tool against it.
