Agrello Zapier integrationAutomate Agrello with Zapier.

The Agrello Zapier integration gives you 4 triggers, 2 actions and 3 searches around e-signing. Three triggers are instant, one is checked on a timer, and Agrello is not a premium app, so a signed contract can start a Zap on the free plan.

Overview

What the Agrello Zapier integration actually does

Connecting Agrello to Zapier lets your e-signature tool tell other apps when a document arrives, gets signed or gets a reminder, and lets those apps create new documents in Agrello, from a file or from a template. Zapier is the go-between: it catches the Agrello event, then runs the steps you set. Nine operations are available.

An onboarding pack the day the offer is signed. A recruitment agency links New Signed Document to Create New Document From a Template. When every party has signed the offer letter, the onboarding agreement is generated from its template, ready to go out.

A live view of who signed what. A property manager collecting signatures from several co-owners uses New Signature to log each one in a tracking sheet, without opening Agrello to check progress.

Paperwork that starts elsewhere. A training company uploads attendance certificates through Create Document, with Find a Workspace placing each file in the right workspace before it goes out for signing.

What Zapier does not do here: no action edits, cancels or deletes a document once it exists, and nothing retrieves documents that were already in Agrello before the Zap was switched on. Agrello has no dedicated n8n or Make page on this site yet; the n8n vs Zapier and Make vs Zapier comparisons lay out the trade-offs between platforms.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Eight words carry the rest of the page. Each is explained once here, then used as is.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one starting event, then one or more steps that run every single time that event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap, such as a contract being signed in Agrello. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
Action
What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, like creating a document.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The figure on your plan counts exactly those.
Instant trigger
A trigger the app reports itself: Agrello calls Zapier the moment the event happens, so nothing waits for a scheduled check.
Polling trigger
A trigger Zapier checks on a timer: it asks the app for new items at a fixed interval and keeps only what it has not seen yet.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets your condition, and quietly stops it otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up something already in an app, such as a workspace, so the steps that follow can use what it found.
Cost

What an Agrello Zap really costs

The trigger never costs a task, and neither does Zapier checking for new documents. Only a completed action is billed; a failed one is not.

  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Premium appNo, works on the free plan
  • Agrello triggers3 instant, 1 polling

The free plan includes 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but each Zap stops at two steps: one trigger, one action. Add a search step, a filter or a second action and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid matters for one trigger only, New Document; the three other triggers are instant and skip it. A few apps and actions take more than one task when they complete.

Connect

Connect Agrello to Zapier in 3 steps

  1. 01

    Start a new connection

Open the Apps page of your Zapier account and click + Add connection. A dialog appears with a search box covering every app you can link. You do this once per Agrello account.

  2. 02

    Select Agrello

Type Agrello in the dialog, pick it from the results, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the Agrello sign-in page, where the last step happens.

  3. 03

    Sign in and allow access

Log in with the Agrello account your Zaps should act for, then grant Zapier access. For workspaces or folders owned by a colleague, you need read or write rights on them before the Zap can use them.

First Zap

Your first Agrello Zap: signed offer, then onboarding agreement

GoalWhen every party has signed an offer letter, find the HR workspace and generate the onboarding agreement from its template.

  1. 01

    Pick the trigger

Create a Zap, choose Agrello as the starting app and New Signed Document as the event, then select your connection. No setting is needed here.

  2. 02

    Test it on real documents

Run the trigger test. Zapier pulls the three most recent items from the connected account, so you map the next steps on a real signed document.

  3. 03

    Add the search

Add Find a Workspace and type the workspace name. This search makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan. Leave the empty-result setting off.

  4. 04

    Add the template action

Add Create New Document From a Template. Map the workspace found by the search, then pick the Folder, the Template and a Document Name.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test each step once and check the new document in Agrello. If it looks right, click Publish to switch the Zap on. The Zap is then live.

Triggers

Agrello triggers on Zapier

4 events start a Zap when something happens in Agrello, and 3 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

New Document

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new document is added.”

Starts the Zap each time a document is added to Agrello, before anyone has signed it. It is the only trigger of this app that waits for Zapier to come and look, so it is the slowest of the four on a free plan.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
a legal assistant who logs every contract created by the team in a register, including the ones still waiting for signatures.
Watch out
if the process needs to react fast, one of the three instant triggers is a better start.
2

New Reminder

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when you add a new reminder to a document.”

Fires when a reminder is added to a document in Agrello. A reminder usually means a signature is late, which makes this trigger a good hook for chasing people through another channel.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a sales manager who wants a follow-up task created in the CRM for the account owner as soon as a reminder goes out on a quote.
Watch out
it reacts to reminders you add, not to signatures; a document nobody chases never starts this Zap.
3

New Signature

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a signature is added to a document.”

Reacts to each individual signature added to a document, not just the last one. On a contract with four signers, the Zap can run four times, once per person.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
tracking progress on documents with many signers, such as a board resolution or a co-ownership agreement.
Watch out
every run that reaches an action costs a task, so a document with many signers multiplies the bill.
4

New Signed Document

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a document get signed by all parties.”

Waits until every party has signed, then starts the Zap once for the whole document. This is the trigger for anything that should only happen when the deal is truly done.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
sending a signed engagement letter to accounting so invoicing can begin, or kicking off a client onboarding.
Watch out
a document still missing one signature never fires it, however many people already signed.
Actions

Agrello actions on Zapier

Agrello gives you 2 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create Document

Action

In Zapier“Creates a document with file”

Builds a new Agrello document from a file that an earlier step provides, inside the workspace and folder you choose.

When to use it
a contract drafted in a document tool that should go out for signature without being uploaded by hand.
Watch out
Workspace, Folder, Document Name and Output Type are mandatory. The optional Send for signing immediately setting sends it out right after creation.
2

Create New Document From a Template

Action

In Zapier“Create a Document based on existing Template, invite participants and fill file variables”

Generates a document from a template that already exists in Agrello, invites the participants and fills the file variables with data from earlier steps.

When to use it
standard contracts where only names, dates and amounts change, like rental agreements or NDAs.
Watch out
Workspace, Folder, Template and Document Name are mandatory, so the template must be built in Agrello first.
Searches

Agrello searches on Zapier

3 search steps look for data that already exists in Agrello, so a later step can use it.

The three searches sit at the bottom of the Action event list, under SEARCH. Agrello offers no find-or-create variant: when a search comes back empty, nothing gets created for you. Three settings decide what happens next.

1

Find a Document

Search

In Zapier“Searches a document by name.”

Looks up an existing Agrello document by its name and passes it to the next steps.

When to use it
a Zap started from a CRM deal that needs the matching contract before doing anything else.
Watch out
Document name is mandatory, and whether the match must be exact is decided by Agrello, so test with a real name first.
2

Find an Output Type

Search

In Zapier“Search document input types”

Looks up the input types of an Agrello document, starting from the name of that document, and hands what it found to the next steps.

When to use it
a later step needs to know those types for a document, and the earlier steps only carry its name.
Watch out
it asks for a Document name, which is mandatory, so the earlier steps must carry one.
3

Find a Workspace

Search

In Zapier“Searches a Workspace by name.”

Finds an Agrello workspace by its name, so later steps can file documents in it.

When to use it
an agency running one workspace per client, where the client name arrives from a form and decides where the contract lands.
Watch out
Workspace name is mandatory; a typo returns nothing and, by default, stops the Zap.

The three settings every search exposes

  1. Successful if no search results are found?
Left on its default, an empty search stops the Zap there and the steps that depended on it are skipped. Switched on, the Zap carries on empty-handed.
  2. Create X if it doesn't exist yet?
Ticking this box turns a search into a find-or-create. Agrello does not offer it on any of its three searches.
  3. If multiple search results are found?
Three ways out when several items match: keep the first, which is the default, stop the Zap, or hand all of them on at once.
When it breaks

When an Agrello Zap breaks

Zapier links no help article to Agrello and no rate limit specific to the app is documented. These are the breakdowns any Zap can run into, with the angle that matters for signatures.

Most of them show up once real documents go through the Zap. The Zapier troubleshooting guide goes further once the basics are checked.

  • Contracts signed before the Zap are ignored

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Documents signed earlier never start it, and moving that backlog is a separate job.
  • A loop between trigger and action

A Zap on New Document that runs Create Document adds the very kind of item its trigger watches, so it sets itself off again and again and burns through your tasks fast.
  • A bulk import held back

After a migration or a mass upload, a trigger that returns a huge batch at once can be held back by Zapier's flood protection.
  • No duplicate on polling

Zapier keeps track of what New Document has already returned, so the same document does not start the Zap twice, even across several checks.

FAQ

Agrello Zapier integration: frequent questions

01Is the Agrello Zapier integration free?
Yes, for two-step Zaps. Agrello is not a premium app, so it works on Zapier's free plan, which includes 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps. The limit is the shape of the Zap: one trigger and one action. A Zap that adds a search step, such as Find a Workspace, a filter or a second action becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan. A signed document that simply creates a row in a spreadsheet fits the free plan; a lookup before generating a document does not.
02How many tasks does an Agrello Zap use?
One task per successful action, nothing for the trigger. A Zap that logs every new signature in a sheet spends one task per signature, so a contract with five signers costs five. A Zap built on New Signed Document runs once per document, whatever the number of signers, which makes it cheaper for the same outcome. Checking for new documents costs nothing, and an action that fails is not counted. A few apps and actions take more than one task when they complete.
03Is the Agrello integration real time?
Three triggers out of four are. New Reminder, New Signature and New Signed Document are instant: Agrello tells Zapier the moment the event happens, whatever the plan. New Document is a polling trigger: Zapier checks at intervals that depend on the plan, every 15 minutes on the free one, 2 on Professional, 1 on Team and Enterprise. In the editor, a Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt, which is the quickest way to tell them apart.
04What does it take to connect an Agrello account?
An Agrello account and access to the workspaces and folders the Zap should use. The connection is added from the Apps page of Zapier: sign in to Agrello in the tab that opens, then grant access. Both actions require a Workspace and a Folder, and the template action also needs an existing Template. For a workspace owned by a colleague, read or write rights come first. Once added, the connection is reused by every Agrello step in all your Zaps.
05Why does an Agrello Zap run several times for one contract?
Because New Signature fires once per signature, not once per document. On a contract signed by three people, a Zap built on it runs three times and each run that reaches an action spends a task. If the next step should only happen when everyone has signed, use New Signed Document instead: it waits for the last signature and fires a single time. Keep New Signature for tracking progress, where seeing each signer is the point.
06What if the Agrello operation you need does not exist?
Then Zapier cannot do it with Agrello today. The integration covers four triggers, two actions and three searches: create a document from a file or a template, find a document, a workspace or an output type. There is no action to edit, cancel or delete a document. A search step can sometimes fill a gap by fetching what an action needs. If the missing operation is central, compare what the other automation platforms expose for Agrello before building anything.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Agrello?
It depends on the criterion, not on a winner. On Zapier, Agrello brings three instant triggers, two actions and three searches, runs on the free plan for two-step Zaps, and needs nothing beyond signing in. That suits a team that wants a signed contract to start the next step quickly. If the flow needs operations Zapier does not list, or many branches per document, check what Make and n8n expose for Agrello and how each one bills runs before deciding.
