Alai Zapier integrationAutomate Alai with Zapier.
The Alai Zapier integration turns text that lands in another app into a finished, editable Alai deck. Zapier exposes 0 triggers, 1 action and 0 searches for Alai, so Alai always sits at the end of the Zap, never at the start.

What the Alai Zapier integration actually does
Alai is an AI presentation tool that builds full slides out of rough text, with several layout choices per slide. Through Zapier, an automation service that links apps without code, Alai becomes the last step of a chain: something happens in another app, and Alai produces slide decks from it. You never open Alai to start the job.
Three results come up again and again with this setup.
A deck per discovery call: a sales rep pastes call notes into a form, and Generate Presentation turns them into a first pitch deck before anyone opens a slide editor.
A recap deck per project brief: a new row in a planning sheet carries the brief text, and the same action produces a kickoff deck for the team.
An illustrated draft for content teams: with Include AI Images switched on, the deck comes back with generated illustrations alongside the text, ready to be reworked.
What Zapier does not do for Alai: it cannot start a Zap when a deck is finished (there is no trigger), it cannot look up an existing presentation (there is no search), and it cannot edit or delete a deck after the fact. One verb only: generate.
If you are weighing tools, the same app also has an Alai Make integration page, and the Make vs Zapier comparison is there for the platform question.
Zapier vocabulary in one minute
Seven Zapier terms come back on this page. They are defined once here, then used as is.
- Zap
- The automation itself: one starting event, followed by one or more steps that repeat every time that event shows up. Here, the last step is always Alai.
- Trigger
- The event that starts a Zap, such as a new form answer. Alai offers none, so the trigger always comes from the app where your brief is written.
- Action
- The step that does the work once the Zap is running. For Alai there is exactly one: Generate Presentation, which builds the deck.
- Task
- What Zapier counts and bills: one action that completes successfully. One deck generated without error equals one task on your plan.
- Polling vs instant
- A polling trigger is checked by Zapier at a fixed interval set by your plan. An instant trigger is reported by the source app as soon as the event occurs.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only if the incoming data passes your condition, for example a brief answer that is not blank, and stops it otherwise.
- Search step
- A step that finds an item already stored in an app so later steps can reuse it. Alai has no search, so no existing deck can be looked up.
What the Alai Zap really costs
Alai is not a premium app: a deck can be generated from the free Zapier plan onwards.
- Premium appNo
- Free plan100 tasks a month
- Steps on Free2 (trigger + action)
- Cost per run1 task if it succeeds
Zapier bills only completed actions. With Alai that means one task per deck that Generate Presentation actually delivers; a run that errors out costs nothing, and the trigger in the source app is never billed, however often Zapier checks it. The free plan includes 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, capped at two steps. Anything longer, say a filter that skips blank briefs, is a multi-step Zap, meaning any Zap beyond one trigger and one action, and it requires a paid plan. How fast the deck arrives depends on the source trigger: a polling one is checked every 15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional, 1 on Team and Enterprise.
Connect your Alai account
- 01
Start from the Apps page
Open the Apps page of your Zapier account and click + Add connection. The connection you are about to create links your Alai account once; every Zap that generates decks will reuse it.
- 02
Pick Alai in the list
In the dialog, search for Alai, select it and confirm with Add connection. Zapier then opens a separate browser tab that belongs to Alai, where the sign-in takes place.
- 03
Log in and authorize
Sign in to Alai in that tab and grant Zapier access. The only prerequisite is an Alai account of your own; for anything owned by a colleague, you also need read or write rights on it.
Your first Zap with Alai
GoalEvery new Google Forms response that holds a brief turns into a fresh Alai deck.
- 01
Choose the form as trigger
In a new Zap, pick Google Forms and the event New Form Response. Alai cannot start a Zap, so the form opens it and Alai closes it.
- 02
Test with real answers
Connect the Google account and test the trigger. Zapier brings back the three latest responses, so you map a real brief instead of a made-up one.
- 03
Skip blank briefs (paid plans)
Insert a filter that continues only if the Brief answer is not empty. It saves tasks on half-filled forms, but the Zap then counts as multi-step and needs a paid plan.
- 04
Map the brief into Alai
Add Alai with Generate Presentation, pick your connection and drop the Brief answer into Input Text. Switch on Include AI Images if you want illustrations.
- 05
Test the step, then publish
Test the Alai step and open the deck it created before going further. Once the slides look right, publish the Zap to switch it on.
The Alai action in Zapier
Alai gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Generate Presentation
ActionIn Zapier“Creates a new presentation from the provided text content and customization options.”
Builds a brand new Alai presentation from the text you map into Input Text, with optional AI-generated illustrations. Every slide grows out of that text, so its quality sets the quality of the deck.
When the Alai Zap breaks
No Zapier help article is attached to Alai, so these four cases come from Zapier's general limits.
With a single action at the end of the chain, an Alai Zap usually breaks upstream, in the form or sheet that starts it, or in the way the Zap was planned. For failed runs, the Zapier troubleshooting guide takes over.
Briefs written before the Zap stay out
Only responses submitted after the Zap is switched on become decks. Older briefs never reach Alai; turning that backlog into decks is a separate job.A loop through the source app
Alai cannot trigger anything, so the loop never starts there. It starts when a later step writes back into the form or sheet the Zap watches, which fires it again and burns tasks.A bulk import is slowed down
Import a large pile of briefs at once and the source trigger returns a huge batch; Zapier's flood protection can hold it back rather than generate every deck.Same response, one deck
On a polling trigger, Zapier keeps track of the items it has already seen, so one form response does not start the Zap twice and produce two decks.
