Bird Zapier integrationAutomate Bird with Zapier.

The Bird Zapier integration gives you 1 trigger, 5 actions and 43 searches. A Bird event starts your Zap the second it happens, then Zapier sends an email, an SMS or a WhatsApp message, runs a passcode check, or reads back what Bird stored.

Beta app Zapier still marks this integration as beta.

Overview

What the Bird Zapier integration actually does

Bird is a messaging network built for AI agents: email, SMS, voice and chat channels behind one account. Plugging it into Zapier means a Bird event (a delivered email, an incoming text, a WhatsApp reply) can set off a chain of steps, and those steps can send through Bird in return.

Three results show up again and again. First, an instant alert: New Event catches an email landing on your inbound address and Send SMS pings whoever is on call. Second, a sign-up check without code: Start Verification sends a one-time passcode, Check Verification Code confirms what the person typed. Third, a delivery audit: Find Email Recipients tells you which addresses bounced on a message that only partly went through.

Now the honest part. Out of 49 operations, 43 are searches: they read, they never change anything. You cannot create a sending domain, a webhook, a suppression or a template from a Zap. There is a single trigger, and no search can create the item it fails to find. Bird is also flagged beta on Zapier, so expect the catalog to move.

If you are weighing platforms, the Bird Make integration covers the same app on the other side, and Make vs Zapier puts the two tools side by side.

Vocabulary

Zapier words, in one minute

Seven terms carry the whole page. Read them once, they come back everywhere below.

Zap
The automation you build: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is switched on, Zapier sits and waits for it.
Action
What the Zap does once started: the step that sends, writes or moves something on your behalf.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan is a count of those.
Instant vs polling
An instant trigger is reported by the app the moment it happens. A polling one is checked by Zapier on a timer.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap carry on only when what arrived meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up something already stored in an app, so the next steps can use what it found.
Multi-step Zap
Anything beyond one trigger plus one action. A second action, a filter or a search makes one, and it needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a Bird Zap really costs

Bird is not a premium app, so it runs on the free plan. The bill comes from tasks, not from the app.

  • Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps, two steps per Zap
  • Bird on ZapierNot premium, flagged beta
  • TriggerInstant, so no plan interval applies

The trigger never costs a task, and neither does waiting for events. Each action that succeeds counts once, so a Zap with three actions spends three times what a one-action Zap spends; an action that fails is not counted. The catch on the free plan: Zaps stop at two steps. Add a filter or a search and you are on a paid plan. The polling grid below does not touch New Event, which is instant. Before you build, count the actions in your scenario: that is what each run spends.

Connect

Connect your Bird account in three moves

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. You need a Bird account first, plus access to anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.

  2. 02

Find Bird and start the link

Type Bird in the search box of the dialog, pick it, then click Add connection. A connection is your Bird account tied to Zapier once, then reused by every step that talks to Bird.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Log in to Bird in the tab that opens, then allow Zapier to reach the account. From there, every Bird step in every Zap can pick this connection instead of asking again.

First Zap

Your first Zap: inbound email to an on-call text

GoalA customer writes to your support address about a refund, and the person on call gets a text with the message right away.

  1. 01

    Build: pick the trigger

Create a Zap, choose Bird and the New Event trigger, then tick the received-email event type in Events. The lightning bolt in the editor confirms it is instant.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Click test: Zapier pulls the three most recent items from your account, so you map fields on a real email instead of a guess.

  3. 03

    Read the email, then filter

Add Find Inbound Email with the Inbound Message ID the event carries: it returns the subject. Then, from the plus icon, add Filter: the subject field, a text rule, and the word refund. A number rule would never pass.

  4. 04

    Fetch the body

Add Find Inbound Email Body and map the same Inbound Message ID into it. The decoded text body of the customer's email is now available to the SMS step that follows.

  5. 05

    Send the text, then publish

Add Send SMS: your sender, the on-call number in E.164 form, a category, and the body mapped in. Test each step, then click Publish.

Triggers

The Bird trigger

1 event starts a Zap when something happens in Bird, and one of them is instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

New Event

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when Bird publishes an event you subscribe to, such as an email being delivered or an SMS arriving.”

New Event wakes your Zap whenever Bird publishes one of the event types you ticked: an email delivered, a text arriving, a WhatsApp message received. It is the only way into a Zap on this app, so every scenario on this page starts here.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a SaaS support desk that wants the on-call phone buzzing as soon as a customer email lands on its inbound address.
Watch out
the Events box is required, and Bird keeps adding types. A newer one can be typed in by hand even when the list does not show it yet.
Actions

Bird actions: send and verify

Bird gives you 5 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Check Verification Code

Action

In Zapier“Checks a one-time passcode against a verification started through Bird Verify.”

Compares the code a person typed with the verification you started earlier, and tells the Zap whether it matches. Pair it with Start Verification and nothing else.

When to use it
unlocking a trial account only after the passcode comes back correct.
Watch out
the Code field is required and must hold the digits exactly as they were delivered.
2

Send Email

Action

In Zapier“Sends an email through Bird from one of your verified sender addresses.”

Pushes an email out through Bird, from an address on a domain your workspace has verified. You fill in sender, recipients and subject, and the step hands back the Message ID that the email searches below take.

When to use it
a B2B startup confirming a demo booking the moment its form tool records it.
Watch out
the From domain must be verified in Bird; a new workspace can use the shared onboarding domain meanwhile.
3

Send SMS

Action

In Zapier“Sends an SMS through Bird from one of your workspace senders.”

Texts one phone number from a sender your workspace owns: a full international number, a 5-6 digit short code, or a brand name of up to 11 characters where the destination country accepts it.

When to use it
a delivery service warning a customer that the driver is close.
Watch out
Bird rejects a body over 12 segments (about 1836 plain characters, or 804 with emoji or accents) instead of cutting it.
4

Send WhatsApp Message

Action

In Zapier“Sends a WhatsApp message through Bird: a template, or free-form text, media or a location.”

Delivers one WhatsApp message to one person: a template, or free text, a file or a location. Each message carries exactly one kind of content.

When to use it
an online store answering a shopper who wrote in a few minutes earlier.
Watch out
outside a 24-hour window opened by the contact, only a template gets through, so a Zap that opens a conversation must send one.
5

Start Verification

Action

In Zapier“Sends a one-time passcode to a phone number or email address through Bird Verify.”

Fires a one-time passcode at a phone number or an email address through Bird Verify. It is the first half of a two-step check: this one sends, the next one confirms.

When to use it
a fintech app proving that a new user really owns the phone number typed into a sign-up form.
Searches

The 43 Bird searches

43 search steps look for data that already exists in Bird, so a later step can use it.

Searches sit at the bottom of the Action event list, under SEARCH. Some fields also offer + Add search step, which drops a search right before the step and wires its result in. On Bird, a search with an unknown id almost always returns nothing instead of failing the Zap, which makes the first setting below matter.

1

Find Call

Search

In Zapier“Finds one Bird voice call by its id.”

Pulls up a single voice call from its Bird id. The id stays the same from first ring to settlement, so one read off a voice call event still works later.

When to use it
a sales team logging how a callback ended once the call event arrives.
2

Find Calls

Search

In Zapier“Finds Bird voice calls, newest first, filtered by direction, status, party number or start time.”

Lists voice calls, newest on top, narrowed by direction, status, the number on the other end, or when the call started.

When to use it
a clinic front desk checking whether a patient's number already called back today before dialing again.
3

Find Sending Domain

Search

In Zapier“Finds one Bird sending domain by its id, with its verification statuses and DNS records.”

Reads one sending domain from its Bird id (not its name) with its verification statuses and DNS records.

When to use it
after a domain event, to see if the domain can really send yet.
Watch out
ownership passing is not enough; the sending status also needs the return-path record and a DMARC policy, and the result reflects Bird's last stored check.
4

Find Sending Domains

Search

In Zapier“Finds Bird sending domains, newest first, optionally narrowed by name. Each result carries the domain's verification statuses and DNS records in full.”

Returns your sending domains, latest first, and can be narrowed by name. Each one arrives with its full verification state and records.

When to use it
turning a domain name into the Bird id that the single-domain searches insist on.
5

Find Sending Domain Events

Search

In Zapier“Finds a Bird sending domain's activity history, newest first: registration, configuration changes and verification status transitions.”

Gives the history of one domain, newest first: registration, settings changes, verification moves.

When to use it
an IT lead tracing why a marketing domain stopped sending last week.
Watch out
one setup produces several status events, one per DNS record; the domain-level one is the change to watch for readiness.
6

Find Email Attachment

Search

In Zapier“Finds one attachment on a Bird email message and returns its filename, type and base64-encoded bytes.”

Fetches one file attached to an email you sent, as a real Zapier file a later step can upload or attach.

When to use it
archiving the invoice PDF a billing Zap mailed out.
Watch out
it only works if content storage was on at send time, and only for 30 days; the inline copy is left empty above 5 MB.
7

Find Email Content

Search

In Zapier“Finds the stored HTML and text bodies of one Bird email message, as they were delivered.”

Gets back the HTML and text bodies of a sent email as the recipient received them, template parameters already filled in.

When to use it
attaching the exact wording of a contract reminder to a customer record after a dispute.
Watch out
nothing comes back without content storage, or after 30 days.
8

Find Email Events

Search

In Zapier“Finds the delivery and engagement timeline of one Bird email message, oldest event first, optionally narrowed to a single event type.”

Walks through the life of one sent email, oldest event first: one line per event and per recipient, optionally just one event type.

When to use it
rebuilding the timeline of a password reset a user swears never arrived.
Watch out
for the current state of each address, Find Email Recipients is the better pick.
9

Find Email Message

Search

In Zapier“Finds one Bird email message by its id.”

Looks up one sent email by its Message ID and returns its subject, recipients and delivery counts, never the body itself.

When to use it
adding delivery numbers to a CRM note once an email event comes in.
Watch out
the delivery time fields stay blank while the message is still in flight.
10

Find Email Messages

Search

In Zapier“Finds Bird email messages, newest first, filtered by delivery status, category, tag, address or creation time.”

Searches sent emails, newest first, by delivery status, category, tag, address or creation date.

When to use it
a customer success manager pulling every message sent to one account before a renewal call.
Watch out
several emails usually match, so decide in If multiple search results are found? whether the Zap keeps the first one or takes them all.
11

Find Email Recipients

Search

In Zapier“Finds the per-recipient delivery state of one Bird email message, so a Zap can see which addresses were delivered, bounced or rejected.”

Splits one sent email into its To, Cc and Bcc addresses, each with its own status: delivered, bounced or rejected.

When to use it
when a message comes back as a partial failure, this is how a Zap learns which people did not get it.
12

Find Email Statistics

Search

In Zapier“Gets aggregate Bird email statistics for a period: one summary row, a daily or hourly series, or a breakdown by tag, template, broadcast, domain, IP, mailbox provider, location, client, bounce code or complaint type. These are counts and rates, never per-message records, so a later step can report on the numbers but cannot act on an individual email — use Find Email Messages for that.”

Returns counts and rates for a period: one summary row, a day-by-day or hour-by-hour series, or a ranking by tag, template, domain, mailbox provider and more.

When to use it
feeding a weekly deliverability report for a newsletter team.
Watch out
these are totals, so no later step can act on a single email from them.
13

Find Inbound Address

Search

In Zapier“Finds one Bird inbound address by its id: the address to forward a mailbox to, and its label.”

Reads one inbound address from its Bird id: the address a mailbox forwards to, plus its label.

When to use it
checking which team label sits on the address that caught a message.
Watch out
it wants Bird's id; typing the address itself returns nothing, and so does a deleted address.
14

Find Inbound Addresses

Search

In Zapier“Finds the workspace's Bird inbound addresses, newest first.”

Lists every inbound address in your workspace, most recent first, with the id each single-address search needs.

When to use it
an ops person mapping which forwarding address belongs to sales and which to support.
Watch out
the single-address search wants this id, never the address text itself.
15

Find Inbound Email

Search

In Zapier“Finds one email Bird received, by its id.”

Opens one received email by its id and returns parsed details: addresses, subject, threading headers, authentication results and the attachment list.

When to use it
screening a supplier email before routing it to accounts payable.
Watch out
a sender check reading unknown means no verdict, not a pass; received mail is kept 30 days.
16

Find Inbound Emails

Search

In Zapier“Finds emails Bird received, newest first, filtered by sender, inbound address or received time.”

Searches the mail Bird received, newest first, by sender, inbound address or arrival time.

When to use it
checking whether a lead already wrote in before a sales rep sends a first email.
Watch out
received mail is kept 30 days, so an older message will not turn up here.
17

Find Inbound Email Attachment Content

Search

In Zapier“Finds the bytes of one attachment on an email Bird received, Base64-encoded.”

Hands over the bytes of one attachment on a received email, as a file the next step can upload, without the filename or declared type.

When to use it
saving a resume sent to a jobs address into your hiring tool.
Watch out
a received message and its files can reach 25 MB, more than a Zap field carries, so a heavy one can fail the step.
18

Find Inbound Email Attachments

Search

In Zapier“Finds the attachment manifest of an email Bird received: id, filename, type and size for each file.”

Returns the list of files on a received email (id, name, type, size) all at once, with nothing to page through.

When to use it
picking the right attachment before fetching its content.
Watch out
an email without attachments returns nothing, which looks exactly like a wrong id.
19

Find Inbound Email Body

Search

In Zapier“Finds the decoded HTML and plain-text body of an email Bird received.”

Decodes the HTML and plain-text body of a received email so a later step can read or forward it.

When to use it
passing a customer complaint's text into a ticket.
Watch out
a result can come back with both bodies blank if the stored content is gone, and plain-text senders never fill the HTML one.
20

Find Inbound Email Raw Content

Search

In Zapier“Finds the original RFC 5322 (MIME) text of an email Bird received, headers and all.”

Delivers the untouched original of a received email (RFC 5322 text, every header included) in one field.

When to use it
a compliance team keeping a byte-exact copy of messages from a regulator.
Watch out
a later step has to parse it, and a message near 25 MB can break the step.
21

Find Email Inbound Route

Search

In Zapier“Finds one Bird email inbound route by its id.”

Opens a single inbound routing rule from its id: what it matches, its priority, what it does with the mail.

When to use it
understanding why a message never reached a team.
Watch out
a mailbox's own address beats every route at priority 10, and a route set to drop discards mail silently, with no event at all.
22

Find Email Inbound Routes

Search

In Zapier“Finds Bird email inbound routes in evaluation order, lowest priority number first, optionally narrowed to one domain or to enabled routes only.”

Lists inbound routes in the order Bird tries them, lowest priority number first, for one domain or only active ones.

When to use it
auditing a domain's routing after a reorg.
Watch out
leave the Enabled box blank to see active and paused routes together.
23

Find SMS Events

Search

In Zapier“Finds the lifecycle events of one Bird SMS message, oldest first.”

Traces one text message from acceptance to its final status, oldest step first.

When to use it
an e-commerce support agent proving a shipping text was handed to the carrier.
Watch out
Bird keeps texts 30 days; anything older is simply gone, and an unknown id returns no events.
24

Find SMS Keyword Rule

Search

In Zapier“Finds one Bird SMS keyword rule by its id.”

Reads one keyword rule, the automatic handling of incoming keywords such as opt-outs, from its id. Ids starting with sks are Bird defaults you can only read; skw ones are yours.

When to use it
confirming what a keyword does before a campaign.
Watch out
a fixed opt-out keyword always unsubscribes the sender, whatever its reply says.
25

Find SMS Keyword Rules

Search

In Zapier“Finds the Bird SMS keyword rules that apply to your inbound messages, most specific first, filtered by country, number, operation or scope.”

Lists the keyword rules that apply to your incoming texts, most specific first, by country, number, operation or scope.

When to use it
a marketing team checking which keywords a new short code already reacts to.
Watch out
a list like this usually returns several rules; set If multiple search results are found? to pass them all when the next step needs the full picture.
26

Find SMS Message

Search

In Zapier“Finds one Bird SMS message by its id.”

Gets one text message by its id, the same one from acceptance to final status.

When to use it
writing the cost of an appointment reminder back to a booking record.
Watch out
cost stays empty until the text is priced, and sent and delivered times until the carrier confirms each stage, and texts are kept 30 days.
27

Find SMS Messages

Search

In Zapier“Finds Bird SMS messages, newest first, filtered by direction, status, failure reason, party number, category, tag or creation time.”

Searches texts, newest first, by direction, status, failure reason, number, category, tag or date.

When to use it
a subscription box listing every failed renewal notice so someone can call those customers.
Watch out
texts older than 30 days are gone, so the search only reaches back that far.
28

Find SMS Statistics

Search

In Zapier“Finds aggregate SMS statistics for a period: totals, a per-day or per-hour series, or a ranked breakdown by sender, country, category, carrier, failure reason, status or tag, for the messages you sent or the ones your numbers received. This returns counts and rates over many messages, never the messages themselves — use Find SMS Messages for individual records. Outbound figures are attributed to the time a message was accepted, so a window ending today under-reports delivered and keeps growing as carrier delivery reports arrive; inbound figures are attributed to the time the carrier received the message.”

Returns totals, a daily or hourly series, or a ranking by sender, country, carrier, failure reason and more, for texts sent or received.

When to use it
a monthly delivery-rate line in a leadership dashboard.
Watch out
a window ending today under-reports deliveries, which keep growing as carriers report back.
29

Find SMS Suppression

Search

In Zapier“Finds one Bird SMS suppression by its id.”

Reads one SMS opt-out record from its id, even one that has already ended.

When to use it
rechecking an opt-out id stored by an earlier Zap run.
Watch out
an opt-out ties one sender to one subscriber, so the same number can be blocked on one sender and reachable on another.
30

Find SMS Suppressions

Search

In Zapier“Finds the Bird SMS suppressions currently stopping your messages, most recent opt-out first, filtered by subscriber, sender or reason.”

Lists the opt-outs blocking your texts right now, latest first, by subscriber, sender or reason.

When to use it
asking, before a promo text, whether that customer can still be reached from this sender.
Watch out
an opt-out covers one sender, so search with the sender you plan to use, not just the number.
31

Find SMS Template

Search

In Zapier“Finds one Bird SMS template by its slug or id.”

Opens one SMS template from its slug or its id, whichever you have, in the same field.

When to use it
before Send SMS, to read which parameter keys the template expects.
Watch out
every SMS template is a built-in Bird one, so version and date fields come back empty by design.
32

Find SMS Templates

Search

In Zapier“Finds the Bird SMS templates available to your workspace, filtered by scope, category or language.”

Lists the SMS templates your workspace can use, by scope, category or language.

When to use it
a product team picking the right passcode template for a Spanish-speaking audience.
Watch out
every template here is a built-in Bird one; open the chosen one with Find SMS Template to see the parameter keys it needs.
33

Find Email SMTP Config

Search

In Zapier“Finds the Bird SMTP send options stored for one API key: its IP pool, category, tags and tracking.”

Reads the SMTP sending options saved for one API key: IP pool, category, tags, tracking. It takes the key's id, never its secret.

When to use it
checking how a legacy app that sends over SMTP is tagged.
Watch out
no result can mean no stored config; SMTP still works with defaults.
34

Find Email SMTP Configs

Search

In Zapier“Finds the Bird SMTP send options stored per API key, newest first.”

Lists every stored SMTP setup, one per API key, newest first.

When to use it
a platform engineer reviewing which keys send through which IP pool before a cleanup.
Watch out
only keys with an explicitly stored setup appear; a key missing from the list still sends over SMTP with the defaults.
35

Find Email Suppression

Search

In Zapier“Finds one Bird email suppression record by its id.”

Reads one email suppression record from its own id, not from the blocked address.

When to use it
seeing whether a block covers all mail or spares transactional messages such as password resets.
Watch out
Bird keeps one record per reason, so delivery stays blocked while any record for that address remains.
36

Find Email Suppressions

Search

In Zapier“Finds Bird email suppression records, newest first, by address or reason. Use it to check whether an address is blocked before sending to it.”

Searches email suppression records, newest first, by address or reason.

When to use it
right before Send Email, to leave out an address that would be blocked anyway.
Watch out
one address can show up several times, one record per reason, and it stays blocked while any of them remains.
37

Find Webhook

Search

In Zapier“Finds one Bird webhook endpoint by its id.”

Reads one webhook endpoint (the address Bird pushes events to) from its id. The signing secret is never part of the result.

When to use it
checking which events an endpoint listens to.
Watch out
endpoints labeled Zapier belong to New Event triggers; deleting or repointing one silences that Zap.
38

Find Webhooks

Search

In Zapier“Finds this workspace's Bird webhook endpoints, with their subscribed events and delivery status.”

Lists the webhook endpoints of your workspace with their subscribed events and delivery health.

When to use it
a developer making sure no forgotten endpoint still receives customer events.
Watch out
the endpoints described as Zapier belong to live New Event triggers, so leave them out of any cleanup.
39

Find Webhook Delivery Attempts

Search

In Zapier“Finds recent delivery attempts for one Bird webhook endpoint, newest first, to see what failed and why.”

Shows the latest delivery tries for one endpoint, newest first, with what failed and why. An unknown id returns nothing rather than failing the Zap.

When to use it
diagnosing why an order system stopped hearing about bounces.
Watch out
leave the Zapier-labeled endpoints alone; their Zaps own them.
40

Find WhatsApp Events

Search

In Zapier“Finds the delivery timeline of one Bird WhatsApp message, oldest first, optionally narrowed to one event type.”

Returns the whole delivery timeline of one WhatsApp message in a single call, oldest event first, optionally one type only.

When to use it
confirming a shipping update was read before a support agent follows up.
Watch out
past the 30-day retention, the message no longer exists.
41

Find WhatsApp Media

Search

In Zapier“Gets a temporary download URL for a file attached to a received Bird WhatsApp message.”

Turns a file received on WhatsApp into a temporary download link that needs no Bird login.

When to use it
an insurer saving claim photos customers send over WhatsApp.
Watch out
the link dies 15 minutes after the step runs, so use it in the same Zap run; outbound messages carry no media to fetch.
42

Find WhatsApp Message

Search

In Zapier“Finds one Bird WhatsApp message by its id.”

Reads one WhatsApp message by its id and reports its state at the moment the step runs.

When to use it
checking whether an appointment confirmation reached the patient's phone.
Watch out
sent, delivered and read times fill in stage by stage, and an incoming message never has a cost.
43

Find WhatsApp Messages

Search

In Zapier“Finds Bird WhatsApp messages, newest first, filtered by direction, status, party, template category, tag or creation time.”

Searches WhatsApp messages, newest first, by direction, status, contact, template category, tag or date.

When to use it
a restaurant group listing every booking reminder that failed before Friday service.
Watch out
messages older than 30 days no longer exist, so a search reaching further back comes up short.

The three settings every search exposes

  1. Successful if no search results are found?
Left as is, a search that finds nothing halts the Zap and the dependent steps are skipped. Switch it on and the Zap goes on empty-handed.
  2. Create X if it doesn't exist yet?
This box turns a search into find-or-create. Bird offers no such variant, so none of its 43 searches can create what it misses.
  3. If multiple search results are found?
Three exits when several items match: keep the first (the default), stop the Zap, or pass all of them along at once.
When it breaks

When a Bird Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to Bird yet, so the cases below come from how Zaps behave in general and from what the app's own fields warn about.

Most surprises here are silent: a Zap that never starts, or one that starts far too often. If you get stuck, our Zapier troubleshooting service takes over.

  • Old events are never replayed

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you publish it. Emails and texts from before that stay untouched; moving that backlog is a separate job.
  • A Zap that triggers itself

Watch delivered emails and send an email in the same Zap, and every send creates a new event that starts the Zap again, eating tasks fast.
  • A flood held back

A sudden mass of events, after a bulk send or a migration, can be held back by Zapier's flood protection.
  • The Zapier webhook got deleted

New Event creates an endpoint in Bird labeled Zapier. Delete or repoint it and the Zap that owns it stops receiving events.

FAQ

Bird and Zapier: the questions people ask

01Is the Bird Zapier integration free?
Yes, it works on the free plan. Bird is not a premium app on Zapier, so nothing locks it behind a paid tier. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but every Zap stops at two steps: New Event plus one action. As soon as you add a filter, a search or a second action, you need a paid plan. Bird is also marked beta on Zapier, which means the list of operations can still change, so check the editor before you build anything you depend on.
02How many tasks does a Bird Zap use?
One per action that succeeds, and nothing for the trigger. New Event never costs a task, however many events Bird sends. Each step that goes through after it counts once, so a Zap that sends a text and then an email spends two tasks per run. An action that fails is not counted. A search adds a step, which is why a search-then-send Zap needs a paid plan. Filtering early is the cheapest habit: a filter that stops the Zap before any action spares every task behind it.
03Does Bird trigger Zaps in real time?
Yes. New Event is an instant trigger: Bird tells Zapier the moment the event happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan. The polling grid (15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional, 1 on Team and Enterprise) does not apply to it. That is good news for alerts and replies, especially on WhatsApp where a 24-hour window decides what you can send. The editor shows a lightning bolt on Zaps built this way, so you can check it at a glance.
04What do you need to connect Bird to Zapier?
A Bird account and a Zapier account, nothing else to install. In Zapier, open Apps, click + Add connection, search for Bird, then click Add connection and sign in to Bird in the tab that opens before granting access. If the Zap will touch resources someone else owns, make sure your account can read or write them. For sending email, the From address must sit on a domain verified in Bird, although a new workspace can use the shared onboarding domain while it waits.
05Why does a WhatsApp message sent by a Zap not arrive?
Most likely it was free text sent outside the 24-hour window. WhatsApp only delivers a template to someone who has not written to you in the last 24 hours; free text, files and locations are only allowed as replies inside that window. A Zap that starts a conversation, like an order confirmation, must therefore send a template. A Zap that answers an incoming message right after New Event catches it can send free text. Find WhatsApp Events shows what happened to a given message.
06What if the Bird operation you need is not in Zapier?
Then this integration cannot do it today. Zapier lists 49 visible Bird operations: one trigger, five actions and 43 searches, as read on 2026-10-01. Searches only read, so creating a domain, a webhook, a suppression or a template is out of reach from a Zap. Look through the searches first, since many questions are answered by reading rather than writing. Because Bird is in beta on Zapier, new operations may appear, so recheck the app page before deciding.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Bird?
It depends on your criteria, not on a ranking. On Zapier, Bird works on the free plan, starts Zaps instantly through one trigger, sends on three channels and offers 43 read-only searches. The limits are the two-step ceiling of the free plan and the lack of any action that creates or deletes settings. Compare each platform on three things: whether the exact operations you need exist, how it bills each step, and whether your team will maintain it. Then test your main scenario on the one that passes.
