CommPeak Zapier integrationAutomate CommPeak with Zapier.
The CommPeak Zapier integration gives you 2 triggers, 1 action and 0 searches. Both triggers are instant, so an incoming text or a click on a short link starts your automation right away, even on the free plan. The one action sends an SMS.

What the CommPeak Zapier integration actually does
It links your CommPeak account, a business SMS and calling provider, to the other apps you use, through Zapier. A text arriving on your number, or someone clicking one of your short links, can now set off work elsewhere. And any app Zapier connects can make CommPeak send a text for you.
Three things people usually build with it. First, an inbox for texts: New Incoming SMS pushes every reply into the tool your team already watches, so nobody has to log in to CommPeak to see it. Second, a click log: New Click on Short URL tells you the moment a prospect opens the link you sent, which is the right time to call. Third, notifications sent as texts: Send SMS fires a message when something happens in another app, a booking, a paid invoice, a form entry.
Now the limits, because the list is short. There are only three operations. No search step exists, so a Zap cannot look up a past message or a contact stored in CommPeak. There is no action to start a call, despite the VoIP side of the product. And nothing here manages your sender IDs: you approve those inside CommPeak, then pick them in the Zap.
The good news is the cost side (both triggers are instant, which matters a lot on the free plan). If you are still weighing tools, the CommPeak Make integration covers the same app on the other platform, and Make vs Zapier lays out the general trade-offs.
Zapier words, in plain English
Seven terms come back on this page. Here is what each one means, once.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one starting event, then one or more steps that run each time that event happens.
- Trigger
- The event that starts the Zap, like a text landing on your CommPeak number. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
- Action
- What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, such as sending an SMS.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills. One action completed successfully counts as one task, and your plan caps how many you get.
- Polling vs instant
- A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app itself the moment the event happens.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap continue only when the incoming data meets your condition, and stops it quietly otherwise.
- Search step
- A step that looks up something already stored in an app so later steps can use it. CommPeak offers none on Zapier.
What it really costs you
CommPeak is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan. The bill on the Zapier side is counted in tasks.
- Premium appNo, free plan works
- Free plan tasks100 per month
- Trigger cost0 tasks
- Free plan Zap size2 steps
The trigger never costs a task. Every Send SMS that goes through counts as one; a failed send counts for nothing. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month and Zaps of two steps only: one trigger, one action. Add a filter or a second action and the Zap becomes a multi-step Zap (anything beyond trigger plus one action), which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below applies to polling triggers, and CommPeak has none.
Connect CommPeak to Zapier in three steps
- 01
Open the Apps page
In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your CommPeak account linked once, then reused by every Zap that needs it.
- 02
Find CommPeak
Type CommPeak in the search box of the dialog, pick it, then click Add connection. You need an existing CommPeak account at this point; Zapier does not create one.
- 03
Sign in and allow access
Sign in to CommPeak in the tab that opens and grant Zapier access. If a colleague owns the account, make sure your login has the rights to read messages and send them.
Your first Zap: route customer replies to Slack
GoalEvery text a customer sends to your CommPeak number lands in a Slack channel, except the ones you choose to skip.
- 01
Create the Zap
Start a new Zap, choose CommPeak as the starting app and New Incoming SMS as the event, then select the connection you added earlier.
- 02
Test the trigger
Text your CommPeak number from your own phone, then run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items, so you can work with a real message.
- 03
Add the filter
From the plus icon, add a Filter. Pick the message field you saw in the test, a text rule, and the word to exclude. This step makes the Zap multi-step.
- 04
Add the Slack action
Add Slack as the next step, choose the channel your support team reads, and map the sender and the message text from the trigger into the post.
- 05
Test, then publish
Run each step once and read what came back before going further. When the Slack post looks right, click Publish to switch the Zap on.
CommPeak triggers
2 events start a Zap when something happens in CommPeak, and 2 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.
New Click on Short URL
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a short URL link is clicked.”
Starts a Zap each time someone clicks a short link you created in CommPeak. For a sales team, that click is a signal: the person read your text and showed interest, so the next step can alert the right rep.
New Incoming SMS
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new incoming SMS is coming.”
Fires whenever a text reaches one of your CommPeak numbers. It turns your SMS line into a source of data, so replies, questions and opt-outs can be copied into a spreadsheet, a CRM or a chat channel without anyone opening CommPeak.
CommPeak actions
CommPeak gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Send SMS
ActionIn Zapier“Send an SMS message via Commpeak”
Sends a text from your CommPeak account to any phone number, with content you map from earlier steps. Three fields are required: the sender ID, the recipient, and the message.
E164, with the country code), and CommPeak asks you not to send anything that reads as fraud, spam or hate. When the CommPeak Zap breaks
Zapier attaches no help article to CommPeak, so these are the general limits that hit an SMS Zap first.
Most failures come from what the Zap was never built to do. Our Zapier troubleshooting page goes deeper when a run fails without an obvious reason.
No catching up on old texts
A Zap only reacts to messages and clicks that happen after you switch it on. Anything older stays in CommPeak; moving that history is a separate job.The reply loop
Send SMS pointed at a number that feeds New Incoming SMS restarts the Zap with every message it sends, and the task count drains fast.Sudden bursts get held back
After a big campaign, a flood of replies or clicks can trip Zapier's flood protection, which holds the batch back instead of running every item at once.Empty sender list
The From field only offers approved sender IDs. With none approved on the CommPeak side, Send SMS has nothing to send from and the step cannot be set up.
