Overview

What the Dify Zapier integration does for you

Dify is a platform for building AI apps, chat assistants included, with visual workflows. The Zapier integration lets other tools talk to a Dify chat app, and lets Zapier react when the people using that app leave feedback on its answers. Dify keeps the AI side; Zapier carries data in and out.

Three results you can build. An AI answer inside any workflow: a support ticket, a form or a note goes to your Dify app through Send Chat Message, and the reply is available to the next step. A file read by the AI: Upload File sends an image or a document to the app so a message can refer to it. A feedback loop: New Feedback fires when a user likes, dislikes or comments on an answer, so a bad rating never sits unseen.

Two more actions finish the conversation side. Get Suggested Questions asks Dify for follow-up questions after a reply, and Send Message Feedback records a like, a dislike or a comment on a message from outside Dify.

What Zapier does not do for Dify: build or edit the AI app itself, or search past conversations. The only trigger is feedback, and it is a polling trigger, so on the free plan it is checked every 15 minutes, never on the spot.

For the same app on another platform, see the Dify Make integration page.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Eight words you will meet on every block below.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it. For Dify, that event is new feedback.
Action
What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or moves something. Dify has four, from chat messages to file uploads.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan allowance is a count of those.
Polling trigger
A trigger Zapier checks on a timer: it asks the app for new items at a fixed interval and keeps only what it has not seen.
Instant trigger
A trigger the app reports itself, the moment the event happens. Dify's New Feedback is not one of them.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap continue only when the incoming data meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action makes one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a Dify Zap really costs

Dify is not a premium app, so it works on the free Zapier plan. The New Feedback trigger costs nothing, and neither do the checks Zapier runs to look for new feedback.

  • Free plan100 tasks per month, two-step Zaps
  • New Feedback triggerFree, checked on a timer
  • Each successful action1 task
  • Premium appNo

Each Dify action that succeeds counts as one task; a failed one is not counted. Send a chat message and then ask for suggested questions, and every run costs two tasks. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month, checks for new feedback every 15 minutes and stops at two steps, so a filter or a second action means a paid plan. Faster checks come with the paid tiers: every 2 minutes on Professional, every minute on Team and Enterprise.

Connect

Connect Dify to Zapier in 3 steps

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

You need a Dify account with the app you want to automate. In Zapier, open Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your account linked once, then reused by every Dify step.

  2. 02

    Choose Dify

Search for Dify in the dialog, pick it and click Add connection. Zapier then opens a new tab where you sign in to your Dify account. The same connection then serves the trigger and all four actions.

  3. 03

    Grant access

Sign in and allow Zapier to use the account. If the Dify app you want to drive was built by a colleague, make sure your account can reach it before you start building.

First Zap

Your first Zap: route disliked answers to a triage assistant

GoalWhen a user dislikes an answer from your customer-facing Dify app, send the feedback to an internal Dify triage assistant that drafts what to fix.

  1. 01

    Build: pick New Feedback

Click Build, choose Dify and the New Feedback event, then select your connection. This trigger is checked on a timer, not pushed.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Click Test. Zapier brings back the three most recent feedback items of the account, so you map fields from a real rating, ideally a dislike.

  3. 03

    Keep only dislikes

Add a Filter from the plus icon: the rating field, a text rule, and the value that marks a dislike in the test item. Likes and plain comments stop here and cost nothing.

  4. 04

    Add Send Chat Message

Choose Dify and Send Chat Message. Put the user comment in Message and a fixed value such as triage in User Identifier, so the internal conversation stays separate.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test the step and read the AI reply. Click Publish to switch the Zap on. With a filter, it is a multi-step Zap and needs a paid plan.

Triggers

The Dify trigger

1 event starts a Zap when something happens in Dify. Zapier checks for them at the interval your plan allows.

1

New Feedback

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new feedback is submitted on your Dify application. Feedbacks can include likes, dislikes, and user comments on AI responses.”

Starts your Zap each time a user rates an answer of your Dify application. A like, a dislike or a written comment on an AI response all count as feedback, so this is your window on how the app is received.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one
When to use it
a product team that wants every negative rating of its help-center bot logged and reviewed the same day.
Watch out
feedback given before the Zap is published is never picked up, so start the Zap before you announce the bot.
Actions

The 4 Dify actions

Dify gives you 4 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Upload File

Action

In Zapier“Upload a file for use when sending messages, enabling multimodal understanding of images and text. Supports any formats that are supported by your application.”

Hands a file to your Dify app so the following messages can work on an image or a document as well as text. The file can come from an earlier step or from a public URL.

When to use it
letting the AI read a receipt photo before you ask it a question about it.
Watch out
only formats your Dify app accepts work, and the file is reserved to the user ID you set.
2

Get Suggested Questions

Action

In Zapier“Retrieves AI-generated follow-up question suggestions based on a previous message. Useful for guiding conversation flow and improving user engagement.”

Asks Dify for AI-generated follow-up questions based on a message it already answered. Useful to keep a conversation going.

When to use it
adding three next questions at the bottom of an AI answer sent by email to a prospect.
Watch out
it needs the Message ID from a previous Send Chat Message step, plus a User Identifier.
3

Send Message Feedback

Action

In Zapier“Provides feedback on a Dify AI message. Use this to capture user satisfaction with likes, dislikes, and optional comments to help improve AI responses.”

Records a like, a dislike or a comment on a Dify message from outside Dify.

When to use it
pushing the rating customers leave in your support tool back to the Dify answer it concerns.
Watch out
it needs the Message ID from a Send Chat Message step, and it can set off a Zap built on New Feedback.
4

Send Chat Message

Action

In Zapier“Send a message to the Dify chat application and receive an AI-generated response. Supports continuing previous conversations and custom input variables.”

Sends a question or a message to your Dify chat app and returns the AI-generated reply for the next steps. It can carry on an earlier conversation and pass custom input variables.

When to use it
drafting a first answer to each new support ticket before an agent reviews it.
Watch out
Message and User Identifier are both mandatory.
When it breaks

When a Dify Zap breaks

Zapier links no help article and no documented limit to Dify. What breaks comes from the mandatory IDs of the actions and from how every Zap behaves.

Four cases to check before you publish. If a run fails without a clear reason, our Zapier troubleshooting page picks up from there.

  • Feedback older than the Zap is ignored

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is published. Ratings left before that never start it; reviewing that backlog is a separate job.
  • A feedback loop that never stops

A Zap on New Feedback that ends with Send Message Feedback can rate a message, which is new feedback, which starts the Zap again and burns tasks.
  • Message ID missing

Get Suggested Questions and Send Message Feedback need the ID from a Send Chat Message step. Without it, the action fails and stops the run.
  • A sudden wave of ratings held back

When the trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a launch or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those runs back. Each item only starts the Zap once.

FAQ

Dify and Zapier: common questions

01Is the Dify Zapier integration free?
Yes on the Zapier side: Dify is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan, which includes 100 tasks per month. The limit is the shape of the Zap. The free plan only builds two-step Zaps, one trigger and one action, for example New Feedback followed by Send Chat Message. Add a filter to keep only dislikes, or a second action such as Get Suggested Questions, and the Zap becomes multi-step, which requires a paid plan.
02How many tasks does a Dify Zap use?
One task per Dify action that completes successfully. The New Feedback trigger costs nothing, and neither do the checks Zapier runs to find new feedback. A Zap that sends one chat message per run uses one task. A Zap that uploads a file, then sends a message about it, uses two. A failed action is not counted. To size a plan, multiply the runs you expect in a month by the number of actions in the Zap.
03Is the Dify Zapier integration real time?
No, not for its trigger. New Feedback is a polling trigger: Zapier asks Dify for new feedback at a fixed interval that depends on your plan, every 15 minutes on Free, 2 minutes on Professional and 1 minute on Team and Enterprise. Paid plans can also run a check by hand from the editor. The actions run as soon as the Zap reaches them, so the wait is only between the rating and the start of the run.
04What do you need to connect Dify to Zapier?
A Dify account with access to the app you want to automate. In Zapier, open the Apps page, click + Add connection, search for Dify and click Add connection, then sign in and grant access in the tab that opens. The connection is saved and reused by every Dify step. Before building, decide how you will fill the User Identifier, since every Dify action asks for it, and keep the same value wherever one user is concerned.
05Why can Dify not see the file uploaded in an earlier step?
Because uploaded files belong to one user. Upload File asks for a User Identifier, and Dify only lets that same user work with the file. If the Send Chat Message step that follows uses a different identifier, the file is out of reach. Map the same value into both steps. Also check the format: Upload File only accepts the formats your Dify application supports, and the file can come from an earlier step or from a publicly accessible URL.
06What if the Dify trigger or action you want is not on Zapier?
Zapier offers one trigger and four actions for Dify, and no search. If what you are after is an AI answer on new data, Send Chat Message usually covers it, since the input can come from any app that starts the Zap. If you want Zapier to react to something other than feedback in Dify, there is no trigger for it, and the starting event has to come from another tool.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Dify?
Choose on criteria, not on brand. Zapier gives Dify a feedback trigger and four ready-made actions in a guided editor, billed per successful task, with a polling delay set by your plan. On Make or n8n, check which Dify operations are available and how a run is counted before comparing. The questions that decide: how fast you need to react to feedback, how many AI calls per run, and who maintains the workflow.
