Overview

What the FindThatLead Zapier integration actually does

It links your FindThatLead account to Zapier, a tool that runs automations between apps without code. FindThatLead can start an automation when you find a lead or verify an address, and it can look up or check an email in the middle of one. It cannot write anything into FindThatLead.

Three things people build with it. A sales alert: New Lead fires and the lead lands in the channel your reps watch, no export needed. A cleaner mailing list: a signup form hands an address to Verify Email, and only the ones you decide to keep move on to your email tool. A guessed contact: you hold a first name and a company domain, and Search Lead tries to work out the matching address.

Now the part the app page skips. Zapier offers no action for FindThatLead at all. No Zap can create or change anything in your FindThatLead account. FindThatLead talks, it does not listen. Every Zap on this page therefore ends in another app (a CRM, a sheet, a chat tool).

The second catch is the plan. A Zap made of one FindThatLead trigger and one action elsewhere fits the free plan. The moment you add a search or a filter, it becomes a paid Zap (more on that in the cost section).

If you are still choosing a platform, the same app has a FindThatLead Make integration page, and the n8n vs Zapier comparison sets the two side by side.

Vocabulary

Zapier words in one minute

Seven terms, used everywhere below. Read them once.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time that trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event that starts a Zap, here a new lead or a verified email in FindThatLead. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
Action
What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, always in another app for this one.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completes successfully, and your plan counts how many of those you get.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app the moment it happens. Both FindThatLead triggers are instant.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets a condition you set, and quietly stops it otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up something that already exists in an app so later steps can use it. FindThatLead offers three of them.
Cost

What it really costs

FindThatLead is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan. The trigger itself never costs a task.

  • Premium appNo, works from the free plan
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps only
  • TriggerCosts no task
  • Search or filterMakes the Zap multi-step, paid plan

Each action that succeeds counts once, and one that fails is not billed. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but only two steps per Zap: one trigger, one action. Add a search or a filter and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below only concerns polling triggers, and both of these are instant, so on Free a new lead still starts its Zap without waiting.

Connect

Connect FindThatLead to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your FindThatLead account linked once, then reused by every step that needs it.

  2. 02

    Find FindThatLead

Type the app's name in the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. You need a FindThatLead account first, since Zapier does not create one for you.

  3. 03

    Sign in and allow access

Log in to FindThatLead in the tab that opens and grant Zapier access. If the account belongs to a teammate, make sure you have read or write rights on what the Zap will touch.

First Zap

Your first Zap: verified addresses straight to Mailchimp

GoalEach email you verify in FindThatLead is checked by a filter, and only the ones that pass join your Mailchimp audience.

  1. 01

    Build the trigger

Create a Zap, pick FindThatLead and Email Verify, then select your connection. Testing brings back the three most recent checks, so you map fields on a real one.

  2. 02

    Read the test result

Look at what the test brought back. Spot the value that tells a good address from a bad one, and note how it is written: that is what your filter will compare.

  3. 03

    Add the filter

Click the plus, choose Filter, then set the field, a text rule and the value you noted. Only checks that match will go further.

  4. 04

    Send to Mailchimp

Add a Mailchimp step with Add/Update Subscriber, pick your audience and map the address. A Zap with a filter is multi-step, so this one needs a paid plan.

  5. 05

    Test and publish

Run each step once, check the subscriber really appears in Mailchimp, then click Publish. Only checks made from that moment on will go through.

Triggers

FindThatLead triggers

2 events start a Zap when something happens in FindThatLead, and 2 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

New Lead

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when you find a new lead in FindThatLead.”

Starts your Zap each time you find a new lead inside FindThatLead, so the person you just uncovered can be sent straight to the tool where your team works, without copying anything by hand.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
your prospecting happens in FindThatLead but follow-up lives in a CRM or a chat channel, and you want every find to show up there at once.
Watch out
leads found before you publish the Zap are never sent, so move your existing list separately.
2

Email Verify

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when you verify an email in FindThatLead.”

Fires when you verify an email address in FindThatLead itself. The check you ran by hand becomes the starting point of a Zap, and its outcome can travel to a spreadsheet or a contact record.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
you clean addresses inside FindThatLead and want a log of every check kept somewhere your team can read.
Watch out
this reacts to a check done in FindThatLead; to check an address coming from another app mid-Zap, use the Verify Email search instead.
Searches

FindThatLead search steps

3 search steps look for data that already exists in FindThatLead, so a later step can use it.

All three sit at the bottom of the event list, under SEARCH. Three settings decide what happens when a lookup goes wrong.

1

Search Lead

Search

In Zapier“Find emails using FindThatLead algorithm.”

Give it a first name and a company domain, and it tries to work out that person's email with FindThatLead's own method.

When to use it
a form or sheet hands you a name and a website, but no address to write to.
Watch out
the Search Company box is required, and ticking it makes the lookup slower.
2

Social Search

Search

In Zapier“Find leads from linkedin using FindThatLead algorithm.”

Starts from a LinkedIn profile link instead of a name, and looks for the lead behind it.

When to use it
your sourcing tool or a teammate collects LinkedIn URLs and you want contact details next to each one.
Watch out
it needs the full profile URL in its field, plus the same required Search Company choice, which adds time when ticked.
3

Verify Email

Search

In Zapier“Verify an email using the FindThatLead algorithm.”

Takes a single address and checks it with FindThatLead before the rest of the Zap uses it.

When to use it
signups, imports or event lists bring in addresses you do not trust yet, and you would rather not send to bad ones.
Watch out
the check alone stops nothing; you still need a filter on the result to hold back the failures.

The three settings every search exposes

  1. Successful if no search results are found?
Left on its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap and the steps after it are skipped. Switch it on and the Zap carries on empty-handed.
  2. Create X if it doesn't exist yet?
This box turns a search into find-or-create. FindThatLead exposes no such variant on Zapier, since it has no action to create anything with.
  3. If multiple search results are found?
Three exits when several items match: keep the first one (the default), stop the Zap, or pass all of them on at once.
When it breaks

When a FindThatLead Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to this app, and no limit specific to FindThatLead is documented. What breaks comes from how Zapier itself works.

Four cases come up again and again. If a Zap stops for reasons that are not listed here, the Zapier troubleshooting page is the next stop.

  • Old leads never show up

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Leads found or emails verified the week before stay where they are, and moving them is a separate job.
  • A big batch gets held back

If FindThatLead suddenly reports a huge pile of leads at once, after a bulk import for example, Zapier's flood protection can hold them back instead of running them all.
  • The Zap stops at the search

A lookup that finds nothing stops the Zap by default, and the steps after it are skipped. Turn on Successful if no search results are found? if you want it to carry on.
  • The filter never lets anything pass

Filter rules are typed. A number rule on a text value, or the reverse, never matches. Pick the rule that fits the value you saw when you tested the search.

FAQ

FindThatLead Zapier integration: common questions

01Is the FindThatLead Zapier integration free?
Yes, as long as your Zap stays at two steps. FindThatLead is not a premium app, so the free plan accepts it, with 100 tasks a month and as many Zaps as you like. The catch is the step count: the free plan only builds a trigger followed by one action. A FindThatLead trigger sending each lead to a sheet fits. Add a Verify Email search or a filter in the middle and the Zap becomes multi-step, which requires a paid plan. You also need a FindThatLead account of your own.
02How many tasks does a FindThatLead Zap use?
One per action that succeeds, and nothing for the trigger. If New Lead fires and the Zap posts one Slack message, that run costs one task. Add a second action, say a CRM record on top of the message, and each run costs two. An action that fails is not billed. Zapier also never charges for waiting on a trigger, however many leads you find in a day. Keep in mind that some apps and some actions take more than one task when they complete, so check the app at the end of your Zap too.
03Does FindThatLead trigger Zaps in real time?
Yes. Both triggers, New Lead and Email Verify, are instant: FindThatLead tells Zapier the moment the event happens, and the Zap starts right away. The plan intervals (15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional, 1 on Team and Enterprise) only apply to polling triggers, which Zapier checks on a timer, and this app has none. In the editor, a Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt. That makes FindThatLead a good fit for free-plan users who want fast alerts without paying for a shorter interval.
04What do you need to connect FindThatLead to Zapier?
A FindThatLead account and a few clicks. In Zapier, open Apps, click + Add connection, search for FindThatLead and pick it, then click Add connection. A new tab asks you to sign in to FindThatLead and allow Zapier in. If anything the Zap should touch belongs to someone else on your team, you also need read or write rights on it. The connection is made once and reused by every Zap and every step that uses FindThatLead afterwards, so you will not repeat this for each automation.
05Why does a Search Lead step keep stopping the Zap?
Most of the time, because it found nothing and the default setting stops the Zap when that happens. Search Lead also needs both a first name and a company domain; if one of them arrives empty from the earlier step, the lookup has little to work with. Check what the trigger really carried during the test. If an empty result is acceptable, switch on Successful if no search results are found? so the Zap carries on. The Search Company box must be answered too, and ticking it makes each lookup take longer.
06What if the FindThatLead operation you want is not there?
Then Zapier cannot do it with this app, and you will not find a hidden menu for it. FindThatLead on Zapier offers two triggers and three searches, but no action: no Zap can create or change anything inside FindThatLead. The workaround is to send the data to another app that does have the action you are after, such as a CRM or a spreadsheet. If writing into FindThatLead is the whole point, compare what the app offers on other automation platforms before you build anything.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for FindThatLead?
It depends on what matters most to you, not on a winner. On Zapier, FindThatLead brings two instant triggers that fire at once even on the free plan, and three searches that need a paid plan because they make the Zap multi-step. So ask yourself three things. Do you need to write into FindThatLead, which Zapier cannot do? Will your Zaps stay at two steps, or need lookups in the middle? Are you comfortable paying per successful action? Compare those points against the Make and n8n offers for the same app before deciding.
