What the LeadConnector Zapier integration does
LeadConnector is a platform that marketing agencies use to run their marketing automation and their customer communications. The Zapier integration connects it to your other tools: a deal moving through a pipeline can start a Zap, and other apps can write contacts, opportunities and tasks into LeadConnector.
Three results you can build. First, a follow-up that is never forgotten: Pipeline Stage Changed fires when an opportunity moves stage, and Add Task creates the task that goes with it. Second, contacts kept in sync: each time another app collects someone, Add/Update Contact adds them, or updates them when they already exist. Third, automation on cue: Add Lead to Workflow drops a lead into one of your LeadConnector workflows, and Stop All Workflows for Lead pulls it out of all of them.
The trigger is instant: LeadConnector warns Zapier itself, so the Zap starts at once, even on the free plan.
What Zapier does not do here: there is no search, so a Zap cannot look up a contact to read its details, and nothing deletes a contact or an opportunity. Only one event can start a Zap, the stage change. If you are still choosing a platform, the n8n vs Zapier comparison is there to open; for LeadConnector, the deciding question is which tool covers the operations you need.
Zapier vocabulary in one minute
Seven words come back all over this page. Here they are once, in plain English.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time that event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it. LeadConnector offers one.
- Action
- What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you. LeadConnector has five.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action that completes successfully. Not to be confused with a task created by Add Task.
- Polling vs instant
- A polling trigger is checked on a timer for new items. An instant trigger is reported by the app the moment it happens.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
- Connection
- Your account on an app, linked to Zapier once and then reused by every step that touches that app.
- Multi-step Zap
- Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action makes it one, and it then needs a paid plan.
What it really costs
LeadConnector is not a premium app, so it runs on the free plan. You pay in tasks, and only actions spend them.
- Premium appNo, available on the free plan
- Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps only
- Pipeline Stage ChangedInstant, costs no task
- What spends a taskEach of the 5 actions, when it succeeds
Pipeline Stage Changed never costs a task. Each of the five actions counts as one task when it succeeds, and nothing when it fails. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each limited to two steps: one trigger, one action. Add a filter, say to react to a single stage, or chain a second action, and it becomes a multi-step Zap that needs a paid plan. The interval grid below applies to polling triggers only. The LeadConnector trigger is instant, so it fires straight away whatever your plan.
Connect LeadConnector to Zapier in 3 steps
- 01
Open your connections
In your Zapier account, open the Apps page and click + Add connection. In the dialog, search for LeadConnector by name and pick it from the list of apps.
- 02
Sign in to LeadConnector
Click Add connection. A tab opens on LeadConnector: sign in with the account that holds the contacts, pipelines and workflows the Zap should touch. You need write access to anything you do not own yourself.
- 03
Grant access
Allow Zapier to reach the account. The connection then shows on the Apps page, and every LeadConnector step in your Zaps reuses it, so you only do this once per account.
Your first LeadConnector Zap
GoalWhen an opportunity reaches the stage you pick, its lead joins a LeadConnector workflow.
- 01
Pick the trigger
Create a Zap, choose LeadConnector as the starting app and Pipeline Stage Changed as the event, then select your LeadConnector connection.
- 02
Test the trigger
Move a test opportunity to a new stage, then run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items, so you map fields on a real deal.
- 03
Keep one stage only
From the plus icon, add a Filter step and set its three boxes: the field to look at, the rule, the value to compare with. The Zap becomes multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.
- 04
Add the workflow action
Add Add Lead to Workflow, pick the same connection, enter the required workflow ID, then map the lead coming from the trigger.
- 05
Test, then publish
Run each step once and read what came back before moving on. When the lead shows up in the workflow, click Publish to switch the Zap on.
The LeadConnector trigger on Zapier
1 event starts a Zap when something happens in LeadConnector, and one of them is instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.
Pipeline Stage Changed
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when the pipeline stage was updated for an opportunity.”
Starts your Zap each time an opportunity moves to another stage of a LeadConnector pipeline, and passes that opportunity on to the following steps. It is the only way in: every LeadConnector Zap starting from this app starts here.
LeadConnector actions on Zapier
LeadConnector gives you 5 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Add/Update Contact
ActionIn Zapier“Adds or updates an existing contact.”
Writes a contact into LeadConnector: a new one if it does not exist, an update of the existing record if it does. One step covers both cases.
Add/Update Opportunity
ActionIn Zapier“Adds or updates an existing opportunity.”
Opens an opportunity in LeadConnector, or updates it when it is already there, using values from the earlier steps. Handy to keep a pipeline fed from outside.
Add Lead to Workflow
ActionIn Zapier“Adds a lead to an existing workflow.”
Enrolls a lead in one of your existing LeadConnector workflows, which then runs its own sequence on that person.
Stop All Workflows for Lead
ActionIn Zapier“Stops all workflow for a lead.”
Pulls a lead out of every LeadConnector workflow it is currently in, in a single move, so no further automated step reaches that person.
Add Task
ActionIn Zapier“Adds a task to the account.”
Creates a to-do in the LeadConnector account, with a title and a description, so the next move on a contact or a deal is written down rather than kept in mind.
When it breaks
Zapier links one help article to this app, How to get started with LeadConnector on Zapier, and documents no rate limit specific to it. What breaks is what breaks on any Zap.
Four situations explain most surprises, and none shows a clear error. Know them before you publish. If a Zap still misbehaves, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.
No catch-up on old deals
A Zap only reacts to stage changes made after it is switched on. Deals that moved before are never picked up; moving that history is a separate job.A Zap that sets itself off
A Zap that writes into the very place its own trigger watches fires again and again. Your task count then drains fast.A sudden flood held back
When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those items back.Every stage, not just yours
Pipeline Stage Changed fires on any stage change. Without a filter, the Zap runs for moves you did not care about and spends a task each time.
