What the legodesk Zapier integration actually does
legodesk is practice software for lawyers and law firms. The Zapier side is narrow and clear: it watches two modules, contacts and the calendar, and it can write into the same two. Anything that happens there can travel to another app, and the other way round, without retyping.
Three results come out of it most often. A contact created from every intake form answer: Create or Update Contact takes the first name and email from the form and puts the person in legodesk. A shared list of every client contact: New Contacts fires on each new or edited contact, and each one lands as a spreadsheet row your team can sort. Meetings booked elsewhere that show up in the legodesk calendar: Create Calendar Event adds the event with its title, description, start and end.
What Zapier does not do for legodesk: there is no search step, so a Zap cannot look up a contact or an event that already exists before acting. Both triggers are polling ones, which means a delay set by your plan, never an immediate reaction. And the integration stops at those two modules: contacts and calendar events are all Zapier sees of legodesk.

Zapier vocabulary in one minute
Six words keep coming back below. Here they are once, in plain English.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it. legodesk offers two: contacts and calendar events.
- Action
- What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, like adding a contact to legodesk.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The figure on your plan counts those.
- Polling vs instant
- Polling: Zapier checks the app on a timer and keeps only new items. Instant: the app tells Zapier itself, straight away. legodesk is polling only.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap carry on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
What legodesk really costs you on Zapier
legodesk is not a premium app, so it runs from the free plan. What you spend is tasks, and only successful actions produce them.
- Premium appNo, available on the free plan
- Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps only
- TriggerNever counted as a task
- Failed actionNot counted
The trigger never costs a task, however often Zapier checks legodesk for new contacts or events. Each action that completes counts one task; a failed one does not. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and two-step Zaps only: one trigger, one action. A new contact copied to a spreadsheet fits. Add a filter, or a second action such as an event after the contact, and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan.
Connect your legodesk account in three steps
- 01
Open the Apps page
In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your legodesk account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every legodesk step you build.
- 02
Pick legodesk in the dialog
Search for legodesk in the dialog, select it and click Add connection. You need a legodesk account, plus access to the contacts and calendar entries you do not own yourself.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
A new tab opens on legodesk. Sign in there, then grant Zapier access to the account. Back in Zapier, the connection appears in the list and both triggers and both actions can use it.
Your first Zap: keep a shared list of legodesk contacts
GoalEvery contact created or edited in legodesk lands as a row in the team's spreadsheet, filtered so only the contacts that matter to the list get through.
- 01
Create the Zap and pick the trigger
Start a new Zap, choose legodesk and New Contacts as the event, then select your connection. Test it: Zapier brings back the three most recent contacts of the account.
- 02
Add the filter
Click the plus icon and choose Filter. Fill the three boxes: the contact field to look at, the rule, and the value to compare with. On a text field, pick a text rule.
- 03
Add the spreadsheet action
Add your spreadsheet app with a new-row action, then map the contact's first name, email and other details into the columns. This is the step that costs a task.
- 04
Test each step
Run each step once and read what came back. Open the sheet and check that the row sits in the right columns before you go any further.
- 05
Publish
Click Publish to switch it on. With the filter it is a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan; without the filter it would fit the free one.
The 2 legodesk triggers
2 events start a Zap when something happens in legodesk. Zapier checks for them at the interval your plan allows.
New or Updated Calendar Events
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when there's a new calendar event or updating an existing calendar event from the Legodesk application.”
Starts the Zap whenever an event is added to the legodesk calendar, and again when an existing one is edited. The event then becomes available to every step that follows.
New Contacts
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when there's a new contact or updating an existing contact from the Legodesk application.”
Despite its short name, this one reacts to both a contact just created in legodesk and a contact someone has edited. Each of them reaches the Zap with its details.
The 2 legodesk actions
legodesk gives you 2 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Create Calendar Event
ActionIn Zapier“Create a new event in the Legodesk calendar module.”
Writes a new event into the legodesk calendar module, with a title, a description, a start and an end, all four required.
Create or Update Contact
ActionIn Zapier“Create a new contact in the Legodesk contact module.”
Adds a person to the legodesk contact module from whatever another app sends. Only a first name and an email are required to go through.
When the legodesk Zap breaks
Zapier attaches no help article to legodesk, and no rate limit specific to the app is documented. What breaks comes from the way Zapier works.
These four cases cover what goes wrong most with two polling triggers and two actions on the same modules. When a Zap stops and the reason is not obvious, see our Zapier troubleshooting page.
The Zap keeps setting itself off
A Zap that writes contacts into legodesk while New Contacts watches the same account triggers itself again and again, and burns through tasks fast.Existing contacts are never sent
A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Contacts and events already in legodesk stay put; moving them is a separate job.A bulk import gets held back
When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after an import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold the run back instead of firing on all of it.Same contact, same event, no duplicate run
Zapier remembers what it has already seen on a polling trigger, so one item does not start the Zap twice. An edit, though, counts as a new event.
