Overview

What the Lemon Squeezy Zapier integration does for you

It connects your Lemon Squeezy store to your other tools through Zapier, an automation service. Each automation, called a Zap, waits for something to happen in Lemon Squeezy (an order, a refund, a subscription that changes, a license key) and passes that event to another app. You set it up once, and it keeps running on its own.

A sales ledger that fills itself. Order Created and Order Refunded each push a line somewhere else, so a refund lands right next to the sale it cancels, with no export to run by hand.

A churn early-warning. Subscription Payment Failed, Subscription Cancelled and Subscription Expired tell you who is slipping away while there is still time to write to them. Subscription Payment Recovered closes the loop when the payment goes through after all.

A license register outside the store. License Key Created and License Key Updated keep a copy of every key in a place you already search every day.

Now the part the app page does not spell out. On Zapier, Lemon Squeezy has no action and no search. A Zap cannot create an order, issue a refund, generate a key or look a customer up in your store. Lemon Squeezy can only be the first step of a Zap, never a later one. If you need to change something inside the store from another tool, Zapier is not the way in today. If you are weighing other platforms, see our n8n vs Zapier and Make vs Zapier comparisons.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Eight words cover everything on this page. Each one is used exactly as defined here.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time that event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is switched on, Zapier waits for that event and nothing else.
Action
What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you in another app.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan counts these, not triggers.
Polling trigger
A trigger Zapier checks on a timer, asking the app for new items at a fixed interval that depends on your plan.
Instant trigger
A trigger the app reports itself, calling Zapier as soon as the event happens. All 14 Lemon Squeezy triggers work this way.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap continue only when the incoming data meets a condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Connection
Your Lemon Squeezy account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Zap and every step that needs it.
Cost

What a Lemon Squeezy Zap really costs

Listening to Lemon Squeezy is free. Only what your Zap does afterwards is counted.

  • Tasks on the free plan100 per month
  • Steps allowed on the free plan2 (one trigger, one action)
  • Premium appNo, works on the free plan
  • Instant triggers14 out of 14

The trigger never uses a task, and an action that fails is not billed either. Each action that succeeds counts on its own, so a Zap with three actions uses three tasks per order. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but only two-step Zaps: one trigger, one action. Add a filter or a second action and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. Lemon Squeezy is not a premium app, so it runs on the free plan. The interval grid below only concerns polling triggers; it never slows these 14 instant ones.

Connect

Connect Lemon Squeezy to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Open your connections

In your Zapier account, go to the Apps page and click + Add connection. You need a Lemon Squeezy account first, with access to the store you want the Zap to watch.

  2. 02

    Pick Lemon Squeezy

Type Lemon Squeezy in the search box of the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new browser tab opens on the Lemon Squeezy side, ready for the sign-in.

  3. 03

    Sign in and allow access

Log in to Lemon Squeezy in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. The connection is saved once and every Lemon Squeezy trigger you add later reuses it.

First Zap

Your first Zap: every order logged in a spreadsheet

GoalSend each new Lemon Squeezy order to a spreadsheet, keeping only the orders that match a condition you choose.

  1. 01

    Build the trigger

Create a Zap, choose Lemon Squeezy as the app and Order Created as the event. Select your connection, then enter the ID of your store in the Store ID box.

  2. 02

    Test with real orders

Run the trigger test. Zapier brings back the three most recent orders of the connected account, so you map the next steps on a real one instead of a guess.

  3. 03

    Add the filter

Click the plus icon and add Filter. Set the three boxes: the field to look at, the rule, the value. Pick a text rule for text and a number rule for numbers.

  4. 04

    Add the spreadsheet row

Add your spreadsheet as the action and map the order fields into its columns. This step is the one that costs a task each time an order gets through.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test each step and read what came back. When it looks right, click Publish. The filter makes this a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan.

Triggers

The 14 Lemon Squeezy triggers

14 events start a Zap when something happens in Lemon Squeezy, and 14 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

License Key Created

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new license key is created.”

Starts your Zap the moment Lemon Squeezy issues a brand new license key, with that key's details ready to copy into another tool.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
you want a searchable record of every key handed out, kept somewhere other than the store.
Watch out
choose the store that actually sells the licensed product in the Store ID box, or the Zap never hears a thing.
2

License Key Updated

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a license key is updated.”

Fires when an existing license key changes, so the copy you keep elsewhere does not drift away from the one in Lemon Squeezy.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
you already log new keys and want the same row refreshed whenever a key is edited later.
Watch out
one trigger watches the one store set in its Store ID box, so a second store needs its own Zap.
3

Order Created

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new order is created.”

Kicks off the Zap as soon as a customer places an order in your store. It is the natural starting point for any sales log or thank-you sequence.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
each sale should appear in a spreadsheet or reporting tool without anyone exporting a file.
Watch out
it only sees orders placed after the Zap is published; past sales are never replayed.
4

Order Refunded

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when an order is refunded.”

Runs when an order gets refunded, giving the next step the refunded order so your records can show the money went back.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
your sales log is built on Order Created and you want refunds to appear in the same place, beside the original sale.
Watch out
point it at the same store as your order Zap, or refunds and sales end up split across two ledgers.
5

Subscription Cancelled

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a subscription is cancelled.”

Tells your Zap that a subscriber has cancelled, while the decision is fresh and a reply still has a chance of being read.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
a cancellation should create a follow-up task or a short exit survey while the decision is fresh.
Watch out
cancelled and expired are two separate events here; if you want both, you need both triggers in two Zaps.
6

Subscription Created

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new subscription is created.”

Fires on every new subscription, the recurring counterpart of Order Created, so you can welcome a subscriber or count them elsewhere.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
new subscribers should be added to a mailing list or a customer sheet without a manual import.
Watch out
the Store ID box is required here too; a Zap set on the wrong store simply never starts.
7

Subscription Expired

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a subscription is expired.”

Signals that a subscription has reached its end and is no longer active, which is the clean moment to remove access or tags elsewhere.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
another tool grants access based on a subscriber list, and that list has to shrink when a plan runs out.
Watch out
do not rely on Subscription Cancelled alone for this; expiry is the event that marks the actual end.
8

Subscription Paused

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a subscription is paused.”

Reacts when a subscription is put on hold, so your other tools know the customer is still around but not paying for now.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
paused subscribers should get a different status in your sheet, not be treated as churned.
Watch out
pair it with Subscription Un-Paused, otherwise the paused status stays on that customer forever.
9

Subscription Payment Failed

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a subscription payment has failed.”

Goes off when a subscription payment does not go through, the earliest warning you get that a paying customer may be lost.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
someone should send a personal note or check the account before the subscription lapses.
Watch out
a failed payment can be fixed a little later, so avoid an action that cuts access straight away from this event.
10

Subscription Payment Recovered

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a subscription payment has recovered.”

Fires when a payment that had failed finally succeeds, so the alarm raised by a failure can be switched off.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
you track failed payments in a list and want each one marked as solved without checking by hand.
Watch out
it only makes sense next to a Subscription Payment Failed Zap writing into the same place.
11

Subscription Payment Success

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a subscription payment has succeeded.”

Starts the Zap each time a subscription payment succeeds, which makes it the event to watch for recurring revenue.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
you want one line per collected payment in a revenue sheet.
Watch out
every successful subscription payment starts it, so each action behind it uses one task per payment collected.
12

Subscription Resumed

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a subscription is resumed.”

Lets the Zap know that a subscription has been resumed, a quiet win worth writing down somewhere your team will see it.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
a cancellation opened a follow-up somewhere, and you want it closed automatically once the subscription is resumed.
Watch out
Subscription Resumed and Subscription Un-Paused are two separate entries; pick the one whose wording matches what you track.
13

Subscription Un-Paused

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a subscription is un-paused.”

Runs when a paused subscription starts again, so the status you set on pause can flip back to active elsewhere.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
your customer sheet tracks paused accounts and needs them back in the active column without manual edits.
Watch out
the label in the editor reads Subscription Un-Paused, with the hyphen, so search for it that way.
14

Subscription Updated

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a subscription is updated.”

Picks up any update to a subscription. Where the other subscription events each name one precise moment, this one has the widest wording.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
you prefer one Zap that keeps a row up to date over several narrow ones.
Watch out
if only some changes matter to you, add a filter after it; the filter makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.
When it breaks

When a Lemon Squeezy Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to Lemon Squeezy, so the known failure points are the general ones, plus the Store ID every trigger asks for.

Most problems show up when the Zap meets its first real orders. If one of these cases does not explain what you see, open our Zapier troubleshooting guide.

  • Old orders never show up

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you publish it. Orders and subscriptions that already existed are not picked up; moving that history is a separate job.
  • The Store ID box is left blank

Each trigger requires a Store ID, the ID of the store it watches. Left blank, the trigger cannot be set; connect an account with access to that store.
  • A big batch gets held back

After a bulk import or a migration, a trigger that suddenly sends a huge batch can be held back by Zapier's flood protection instead of running every item.
  • The filter is on, the plan is free

A filter or a second action turns the Zap into a multi-step one. The free plan only runs two-step Zaps, so the Zap needs a paid plan to stay on.

FAQ

Lemon Squeezy and Zapier: common questions

01Is the Lemon Squeezy Zapier integration free?
Yes, it works on the free Zapier plan, because Lemon Squeezy is not a premium app. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps. The catch is the shape of the Zap: on the free plan, a Zap holds one trigger and one action, nothing more. As soon as you add a filter or a second action, for example to keep only some orders, the Zap becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan. Plan prices change often, so check the current grid on Zapier before you choose.
02How many tasks does a Lemon Squeezy Zap use?
The trigger itself costs nothing, so receiving an order or a subscription event from Lemon Squeezy is free. Each action that completes successfully counts as one task. A Zap that adds one spreadsheet row per order uses one task per order; a Zap with three actions uses three. An action that fails is not counted. Keep an eye on Subscription Payment Success: every successful subscription payment starts it, so each payment collected costs the tasks of the actions behind it.
03Are Lemon Squeezy triggers real time?
Yes. All 14 Lemon Squeezy triggers are instant: Lemon Squeezy calls Zapier the moment an order, refund, subscription change or license key event happens, and the Zap starts right away. The polling interval of your plan, 15 minutes on Free, does not apply to them. In the editor, a Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt. That makes Lemon Squeezy one of the apps where the free plan is not slowed down at all.
04What does it take to connect Lemon Squeezy to Zapier?
A Lemon Squeezy account, and access to the store you want to watch. In Zapier, open the Apps page, click Add connection, search for Lemon Squeezy, then sign in in the tab that opens and grant access. Every trigger then asks for a Store ID, the ID of the store to watch, and the field is required. Have it ready before you start, and connect with an account that has access to that store.
05Can Zapier create orders or license keys in Lemon Squeezy?
No. On Zapier, Lemon Squeezy only has triggers: no action and no search. A Zap can react to orders, refunds, subscriptions and license keys, but it cannot create, refund, update or look up anything inside the store. Lemon Squeezy can therefore only be the first step of a Zap. Anything that has to change in the store from another tool has to be done in Lemon Squeezy itself, or through a different route than Zapier.
06What if the Lemon Squeezy event you need is not in the list?
Then there is no way to add it from the editor. The 14 triggers listed on this page are the only Lemon Squeezy events Zapier offers, and the trigger type is set by the app, not by Zapier. Read the list closely first: some entries look alike but are separate, such as Subscription Resumed and Subscription Un-Paused. If nothing fits, the next step is a platform that can work with the Lemon Squeezy side directly.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Lemon Squeezy?
It depends on the job. If you only need to react to sales, refunds and subscription events and pass them to other tools, Zapier covers it with 14 instant triggers and works on the free plan for two-step Zaps. If you need to write back into Lemon Squeezy, Zapier has no action for that, so look at how other platforms handle the store. Your budget per task, the number of steps your workflows need and who maintains the workflows are the criteria that decide.
