What the Little Green Light Zapier integration does
The Little Green Light Zapier integration connects your Little Green Light account, a CRM built for nonprofits, to Zapier, a service that chains apps together without code. Zapier can send it constituent and gift data, and that's it: one action, no trigger, usable on the free plan.
Form answers filed as constituent records. Someone fills in a form in your form tool, and Import Constituent/Gift Data sends the answers into Little Green Light. No more copying names from one screen to the other.
Gift data that doesn't wait for a manual upload. A new row in your spreadsheet carries a gift; the Zap hands it to Little Green Light as an import, under a name you recognise later.
A cleaner list, thanks to a filter. Put a filter between the trigger and the import, and only the entries that meet your condition reach Little Green Light. The rest stop there and cost no task.
What Zapier won't do here. Little Green Light has no trigger on Zapier, so nothing that happens inside it can start a Zap. There's no search either: a Zap can't look up an existing constituent before sending data. And there's no step to edit or delete a record. Zapier vocabulary in one minute
Eight words from the editor, in plain English. The rest of the page uses them without a reminder.
- Zap
- Your automation on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. Here it always comes from another app, since Little Green Light has none.
- Action
- What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, like an import into Little Green Light.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completes successfully; your plan counts those and nothing else.
- Polling vs instant
- Polling: Zapier checks the starting app on a timer. Instant: that app reports the event to Zapier itself, the moment it happens.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap continue only when the incoming data meets the condition you set, and stops it there otherwise.
- Connection
- Your Little Green Light account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Little Green Light step of every Zap.
- Multi-step Zap
- Anything beyond one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action turns a Zap into one, and it then needs a paid plan.
What it really costs
Zapier bills tasks. With Little Green Light, the only step that can cost you one is the import.
- Premium appNo, it works on the free plan
- Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps
- Steps per Zap on Free2: one trigger, one action
- Cost of one import1 task when it succeeds
The trigger of the other app never costs a task, however often Zapier checks it. Each import that goes through counts as one task, and one that fails isn't counted. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps, and two steps per Zap: one trigger, one action. Add a filter or a second action and you need a paid plan. Little Green Light has no trigger, so the interval grid below applies to the trigger of the app that starts your Zap, when that trigger works by polling.
Connect Little Green Light to Zapier in 3 steps
- 01
Open the Apps page
In Zapier, go to Apps and click + Add connection. You need a Little Green Light account already, with access to anything you don't own but want the Zap to write into.
- 02
Pick Little Green Light
Search Little Green Light by name in the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab then opens on the Little Green Light side to finish the link.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Sign in to Little Green Light in that tab and grant Zapier access to your account. The connection then appears on the Apps page, and every Zap that imports data reuses it.
Your first Zap: form answers into Little Green Light, filtered
GoalWhen a form is submitted in your form tool, send the answers to Little Green Light as an import, but only when they meet your filter.
- 01
Create the Zap and set the trigger
Start a new Zap and choose your form tool as the app that starts it, with its new-submission event. Little Green Light can't start a Zap, so this step always lives elsewhere.
- 02
Test the trigger
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent submissions of the connected account, so you map the next steps on a real answer.
- 03
Add the filter
Click the plus icon, add Filter and fill its three boxes: the field to look at, the rule, the value to compare with. This makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.
- 04
Add the import
Add Little Green Light as the action, event Import Constituent/Gift Data. Type an Import Name, then map the form answers to the fields Little Green Light offers.
- 05
Test, then publish
Test the action and look for the import under its name in Little Green Light. If the data looks right, click Publish to switch the Zap on.
The Little Green Light action
Little Green Light gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

When it breaks
Zapier attaches no help article to Little Green Light, so the trouble you'll meet is Zapier's general kind.
Four cases come up most. They all start on the side of the app that triggers the Zap, since Little Green Light only receives. If one of them blocks you, our Zapier troubleshooting page is the next stop.
Older entries never arrive
A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Everything collected before stays out of Little Green Light; moving that backlog is a separate job.A loop drains your tasks
A Zap that writes into the very place its own trigger watches sets itself off again and again. Keep the trigger app and the place you write to apart.A bulk import gets held back
When the starting trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a migration or a mass import, Zapier's flood protection can hold those items back.No double run on one entry
On a polling trigger, Zapier keeps track of what it has already seen, so the same entry never starts the Zap twice and never imports twice from one run.
