Overview

What the Magic Hour Zapier integration actually does

The Magic Hour Zapier integration lets your other tools order media from Magic Hour, a platform that generates images, videos and audio with AI. Something happens elsewhere, Zapier passes along a prompt or a file, and Magic Hour sends back a picture, a clip or a voice track. Zapier marks the app as beta.

Three results worth building. Voice-overs from plain text: AI Voice Generator reads a script typed into a form and returns the audio file, ready to store. Clean product shots: Image Background Remover strips the background from each photo dropped in a folder. Short clips from a sentence: Text-To-Video (Start Only) starts a video from a prompt, and Get Completed Video Project collects it once it is rendered.

Now what Zapier does not do here. Magic Hour has no trigger, so a finished render can never start a Zap by itself: your Zap has to come back for it. Most tools exist in two versions, one that waits for the file and one marked (Start Only) that only returns a project ID. Every video tool is Start Only, which means a Delay step and a fetch step after it. And every file you feed in must be a direct file URL or a path from Generate Asset Upload URL.

If you are weighing other platforms, see our Make vs Zapier and n8n vs Zapier comparisons.

Vocabulary

Zapier words in one minute

Seven words come back all over this page. Here they are once, in plain English.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time that trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event that starts the Zap. With Magic Hour it always comes from another app, such as a new form answer.
Action
What the Zap does once it has started: here, the step that asks Magic Hour to generate or fetch something.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan's count is a count of those.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked on a timer for new items. An instant one is reported by its app the moment it happens.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap carry on only when the incoming data meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up something that already exists in an app, so the next steps can use what it found.
Cost

What a Magic Hour Zap really costs

Magic Hour is not a premium app: it runs on the free plan, within that plan's limits.

  • Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps, two steps per Zap
  • This appNot premium, marked beta: available on the free plan
  • BilledEach successful Magic Hour action; the trigger costs nothing

The trigger never costs a task, whichever app provides it. Each Magic Hour action that succeeds counts as one task, and a failed one is not billed. A Start Only render followed by a fetch is already two actions, so it needs a paid plan: the free plan stops at two steps, and a search or a filter makes a multi-step Zap too. Magic Hour has no trigger of its own, so the interval grid below only concerns the app that starts your Zap, when its trigger is a polling one. On the Magic Hour side, Body Swap also spends credits, and its Resolution field decides how many a run costs.

Connect

Connect Magic Hour to Zapier

  1. 01

    Open your apps

In your Zapier account, open the Apps page and click + Add connection. A connection is your Magic Hour account linked once, then reused by every Magic Hour step.

  2. 02

    Pick Magic Hour

Search for Magic Hour in the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the Magic Hour side, so have the login of an existing account ready.

  3. 03

    Sign in and allow access

Sign in to Magic Hour in that tab and grant Zapier access. If the Zap should use files or projects you do not own, your account needs read or write rights on them first.

First Zap

Your first Magic Hour Zap, step by step

GoalA script submitted through your form comes back as a voice-over file stored next to your other assets.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Start a new Zap with your form tool as the app that starts it and its new response event. Magic Hour cannot open a Zap, since it has no trigger.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent answers of that form, so you map fields on a real script rather than an empty template.

  3. 03

    Add AI Voice Generator

Add Magic Hour with AI Voice Generator. Map the script into Text To Speak and pick a Voice, both required. This version waits and returns the finished file.

  4. 04

    Store the file

Add your file storage and its upload action, then map the audio file returned by the previous step. Test each step once and listen to the result.

  5. 05

    Publish

Click Publish to switch the Zap on. With two actions it has three steps, so it needs a paid plan even though Magic Hour itself runs on the free one.

Actions

Magic Hour actions

Magic Hour gives you 45 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

AI Clothes Changer (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Put a different outfit on the person in a photo. Returns a project ID; follow with Get Completed Image Project.”

Starts the outfit swap and gives back a project ID, the picture coming later.

When to use it
many garments to try on the same model, collected in one pass.
Watch out
follow it with Get Completed Image Project, or the Zap stops at an ID.
2

AI Clothes Changer

Action

In Zapier“Put a different outfit on the person in a photo. Waits and returns the finished file, so no follow-up step is needed.”

Puts a different outfit on the person in a photo and returns the finished picture. Person Image File Path and Garment Image File Path are both required.

When to use it
a new garment in your catalog should be shown on a model photo.
Watch out
both images must be reachable by URL or by an uploaded file path.
3

AI Face Editor (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Adjust expression and head position in a photo. Returns a project ID; follow with Get Completed Image Project.”

Launches the face adjustments and replies with a project ID, without waiting for the render.

When to use it
you edit a series of portraits and gather them at the end of the Zap.
Watch out
retrieve the edited photo with Get Completed Image Project.
4

AI Face Editor

Action

In Zapier“Adjust expression and head position in a photo. Waits and returns the finished file, so no follow-up step is needed.”

Adjusts expression and head position in a photo, then returns the edited file. Image File Path is required.

When to use it
a smile or a head tilt needs fixing on campaign portraits.
Watch out
Enhance Face runs Magic Hour's face enhancement before the adjustments; switch it on only if you want that extra pass.
5

AI GIF Generator (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Generate an animated GIF from a text prompt. Returns a project ID; follow with Get Completed Image Project.”

Turns a text description into an animated GIF. The GIF Prompt is required and takes 1 to 500 characters.

When to use it
a reaction GIF should go out with each announcement posted in your team chat.
Watch out
there is no waiting version of this tool, so the GIF itself only arrives through Get Completed Image Project.
6

AI Headshot Generator (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Turn a photo into a professional headshot. Returns a project ID; follow with Get Completed Image Project.”

Begins the headshot render and gives back a project ID rather than the portrait.

When to use it
you collect several portraits and fetch them together further down.
Watch out
the same single-face rule applies, and the portrait arrives only through Get Completed Image Project.
7

AI Headshot Generator

Action

In Zapier“Turn a photo into a professional headshot. Waits and returns the finished file, so no follow-up step is needed.”

Turns an ordinary photo into a professional headshot and returns the finished image. Image File Path is required.

When to use it
each new team member's selfie should become a matching profile picture.
Watch out
the photo must contain one detectable face, or the run cannot work.
8

AI Image Editor (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Edit up to 10 images from a text instruction. Returns a project ID; follow with Get Completed Image Project.”

Sends the edit request for up to 10 images and returns a project ID straight away, without the edited file.

When to use it
other steps should run before you collect the edited images.
Watch out
collect the output with Get Completed Image Project, adding a Delay first if the project is still rendering.
9

AI Image Editor

Action

In Zapier“Edit up to 10 images from a text instruction. Waits and returns the finished file, so no follow-up step is needed.”

Applies a written instruction to one or several images, up to 10, and returns the edited file. Image File Paths and Edit Prompt are required.

When to use it
a batch of product photos needs the same retouch described in words.
Watch out
the Edit Prompt can be long, up to 15000 characters, but each image must be reachable by URL or file path.
10

AI Image Generator (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Generate an image from a text prompt. Returns a project ID; follow with Get Completed Image Project.”

Kicks off the same image generation without waiting and hands back a project ID instead of a file.

When to use it
you would rather let the render run and collect it later in the Zap, after other steps.
Watch out
nothing usable comes out of this step alone; follow it with Get Completed Image Project.
11

AI Image Generator

Action

In Zapier“Generate an image from a text prompt. Waits and returns the finished file, so no follow-up step is needed.”

Generates pictures from a written prompt and waits until they are ready, so the next step receives the finished file. Prompt and Image Count are required.

When to use it
each new blog idea in a spreadsheet should come with an illustration.
Watch out
Magic Hour supports 1 to 16 images per run, but the real ceiling depends on the model.
12

AI Image Upscaler (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Enlarge an image 2x or 4x. Returns a project ID; follow with Get Completed Image Project.”

Enlarges an image 2x or 4x. Image File Path and Scale Factor are required, and the step returns a project ID.

When to use it
small pictures from a form need a print-ready size.
Watch out
only the Start Only version is offered in the editor, so the enlarged file comes from Get Completed Image Project.
13

AI Meme Generator (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Write a meme about a topic using a chosen template. Returns a project ID; follow with Get Completed Image Project.”

Launches the meme job and returns only its project ID, leaving the image to be fetched later. Pick Random as Meme Template to let Magic Hour choose the format.

When to use it
you batch several meme topics and gather the results further down the Zap.
Watch out
plan a Get Completed Image Project step to see the meme.
14

AI Meme Generator

Action

In Zapier“Write a meme about a topic using a chosen template. Waits and returns the finished file, so no follow-up step is needed.”

Writes a meme about a topic in the template you pick, then returns the finished image. Meme Topic (1 to 200 characters) and Meme Template are required.

When to use it
each trending subject you note down should get a meme draft.
Watch out
switching on Search The Web lets Magic Hour look up current context first.
15

AI QR Code Generator (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Create an artistic QR code from a link or text. Returns a project ID; follow with Get Completed Image Project.”

Starts the QR code artwork and gives back a project ID rather than the image. The link or text to encode still goes into QR Code Content.

When to use it
you prefer to queue the code now and collect it after other steps.
Watch out
scan the final image before printing; the art style changes how the code looks.
16

AI QR Code Generator

Action

In Zapier“Create an artistic QR code from a link or text. Waits and returns the finished file, so no follow-up step is needed.”

Draws an artistic QR code that encodes a link or a text, and waits for the finished picture. QR Code Content and Art Style are required.

When to use it
every new event page should get its own decorated QR code for print.
Watch out
Art Style accepts any style, with templates such as Watercolor or Ink Landscape.
17

AI Talking Photo (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Animate a photo to speak along with an audio track. Returns a project ID; add a Delay, then Get Completed Video Project.”

Animates a photo so it speaks along with an audio track. Image File Path, Audio File Path, Start Time and End Time are required.

When to use it
a portrait should deliver a short recorded message.
Watch out
the times are read in the source media, in seconds; add a Delay before fetching the video.
18

AI Video Editor (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Edit a video from a text instruction. Returns a project ID; add a Delay, then Get Completed Video Project.”

Edits a video from a written instruction. Video File Path, Edit Prompt and End Time (Seconds) are required.

When to use it
the same correction, described in words, should be applied to each new clip.
Watch out
the edited video waits on Magic Hour's side until Get Completed Video Project collects it.
19

AI Voice Cloner (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Clone a voice from a sample and have it read your text. Returns a project ID; follow with Get Completed Audio Project.”

Launches voice cloning and replies with a project ID, the audio staying on Magic Hour's side for now.

When to use it
you prepare several cloned messages and gather them later.
Watch out
the same 1000-character limit applies; Get Completed Audio Project delivers the file.
20

AI Voice Cloner

Action

In Zapier“Clone a voice from a sample and have it read your text. Waits and returns the finished file, so no follow-up step is needed.”

Clones a voice from a recorded sample and has it read your text, then returns the audio. Voice Sample Audio File Path and Text To Speak are required.

When to use it
short messages should go out in a familiar voice.
Watch out
the text is capped at 1000 characters.
21

AI Voice Generator (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Turn text into speech using a chosen voice. Returns a project ID; follow with Get Completed Audio Project.”

Starts the text-to-speech job and answers with a project ID instead of audio.

When to use it
the Zap has other work to do before the audio is collected.
Watch out
fetch the sound with Get Completed Audio Project, not with the image or video version.
22

AI Voice Generator

Action

In Zapier“Turn text into speech using a chosen voice. Waits and returns the finished file, so no follow-up step is needed.”

Reads your text aloud in the Magic Hour voice you choose and waits for the audio file. Text To Speak and Voice are required.

When to use it
written scripts should turn into voice-overs without a recording session.
Watch out
the voice is picked from Magic Hour's own list.
23

Animation (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Build an animated video from audio and an art style. Returns a project ID; add a Delay, then Get Completed Video Project.”

Creates an animated video from audio and an art style. It asks for many required settings: length, frame rate, width and height (64 pixels minimum), art style, camera effect, prompt type and transition speed.

When to use it
a music track needs an animated visual.
Watch out
Transition Speed goes from 1, the slowest, to 10, the fastest.
24

Audio-To-Video (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Generate video to go with an audio track. Returns a project ID; add a Delay, then Get Completed Video Project.”

Builds a video to go with an audio track. Audio File Path and End Time (Seconds) are required.

When to use it
each new podcast excerpt should get visuals for sharing.
Watch out
End Time marks where to stop in the source audio, so set it to the part you want.
25

Auto Subtitle Generator (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Burn subtitles into a video. Returns a project ID; add a Delay, then Get Completed Video Project.”

Burns subtitles into a video. Video File Path, Start Time, End Time and Subtitle Style are required.

When to use it
every clip uploaded for social media should carry captions.
Watch out
Subtitle Style sets a built-in look, which optional overrides can refine.
26

Body Swap (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Place a person from one photo into another scene. Returns a project ID; follow with Get Completed Image Project.”

Places a person from one photo into another scene. Person Image File Path, Scene Image File Path and Resolution are required, and the step returns a project ID.

When to use it
event photos should be dropped into a branded backdrop.
Watch out
Resolution decides how many Magic Hour credits each run costs.
27

Character Replace (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Replace a character in a video with one from a photo. Returns a project ID; add a Delay, then Get Completed Video Project.”

Replaces a character in a video with one taken from a photo. Video File Path, Image File Path and End Time are required, plus position rows.

When to use it
a mascot or presenter should be swapped across a clip.
Watch out
leave the X and Y position rows blank unless Character Selection is Pick By Point.
28

Run Face Detection

Action

In Zapier“Start a Magic Hour face detection task for an uploaded image or video asset.”

Starts a face detection task on an image or video already uploaded to Magic Hour. Target File Path is required.

When to use it
before any face swap, to learn which faces the file contains.
Watch out
use the file path returned by Generate Asset Upload URL, then read the result with Get Face Detection.
29

Face Swap Photo (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Swap faces between two photos. Returns a project ID; follow with Get Completed Image Project.”

Launches the photo face swap and returns a project ID, leaving the edited image for later.

When to use it
you swap faces on several templates and fetch them together.
Watch out
run Run Face Detection and Get Face Detection before it to know which face to replace.
30

Face Swap Photo

Action

In Zapier“Swap faces between two photos. Waits and returns the finished file, so no follow-up step is needed.”

Swaps faces between two photos and returns the edited image. Target Image File Path, Original Face and New Face are required.

When to use it
a template photo should carry the face of each new participant.
Watch out
Original Face is written as frame-index plus extension, such as 0-0.png; Run Face Detection lists them.
31

Face Swap Video (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Swap a new face into a video. Returns a project ID; add a Delay, then Get Completed Video Project.”

Swaps a new face into a video. Video Source, Original Face, New Face, Start Time and End Time are required.

When to use it
a template video should feature a different person for each recipient.
Watch out
Original Face uses the frame-index format, such as 0-0.png, listed by Run Face Detection.
32

Generate Asset Upload URL

Action

In Zapier“Get an upload URL and file path for an image, video, or audio file. Needed before any tool that takes a file.”

Gets an upload address and a file path for an image, video or audio file, so Magic Hour can use files that are not publicly reachable. Asset Type and File Extension are required.

When to use it
your source files sit in private storage.
Watch out
type the extension without a dot, such as png, mp4, mp3 or gif.
33

Get Completed Audio Project

Action

In Zapier“Fetch a finished audio project and return the audio as a file. Use after a "(Start Only)" action.”

Retrieves a finished audio project as a file, using the Audio Project ID returned by a generation action.

When to use it
after the Start Only versions of AI Voice Generator or AI Voice Cloner.
Watch out
still rendering? Put a Delay by Zapier step in front of it.
34

Get Completed Image Project

Action

In Zapier“Fetch a finished image project and return the image as a file. Use after a "(Start Only)" action.”

Fetches a finished image project and returns the picture as a file. Image Project ID is required.

When to use it
right after any image tool marked (Start Only).
Watch out
if the project is still rendering, add a Delay by Zapier step before this one.
35

Get Completed Video Project

Action

In Zapier“Fetch a finished video project and return the video as a file. Use after a "(Start Only)" action.”

Collects a rendered video and hands it to the next step as a file. Video Project ID is required.

When to use it
after Text-To-Video, Lip Sync or any other video tool, since they are all Start Only.
Watch out
every video tool asks for a Delay step before this one, so plan it in the Zap.
36

Head Swap (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Put the head from one photo onto the body in another. Returns a project ID; follow with Get Completed Image Project.”

Queues the head swap and returns the project ID immediately, without the image.

When to use it
you prepare several swaps in one Zap and fetch them afterwards.
Watch out
Get Completed Image Project is the step that hands over the picture.
37

Head Swap

Action

In Zapier“Put the head from one photo onto the body in another. Waits and returns the finished file, so no follow-up step is needed.”

Places the head from one photo onto the body in another and waits for the result. Body Image File Path and Head Image File Path are required.

When to use it
a costume or poster template should carry a different face.
Watch out
keep the two inputs straight; the body image receives the head, not the reverse.
38

Image Background Remover (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Remove or replace the background of a photo. Returns a project ID; follow with Get Completed Image Project.”

Queues the background removal and replies with a project ID, not with the cleaned photo.

When to use it
you process many photos and gather the results in a later step.
Watch out
without Get Completed Image Project after it, the Zap ends with an ID and no picture.
39

Image Background Remover

Action

In Zapier“Remove or replace the background of a photo. Waits and returns the finished file, so no follow-up step is needed.”

Removes or replaces the background of a photo and hands back the result once done. Image File Path is the only required field.

When to use it
every product shot dropped in a folder should come out on a clean background.
Watch out
the photo must be a direct file URL or a path from Generate Asset Upload URL.
40

Image-To-Video (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Animate a still image into a video. Returns a project ID; add a Delay, then Get Completed Video Project.”

Animates a still image into a video of 1 to 60 seconds. Image File Path and Length In Seconds are required.

When to use it
product stills should become short motion clips for social posts.
Watch out
add a Delay, then Get Completed Video Project; the step itself only returns an ID.
41

Lip Sync (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Match the lips in a video to a new audio track. Returns a project ID; add a Delay, then Get Completed Video Project.”

Matches the lips in a video to a new audio track. Video Source, Audio File Path, Start Time and End Time are required.

When to use it
a dubbed voice-over should look natural on the original footage.
Watch out
the synced video comes back only through Get Completed Video Project.
42

Photo Colorizer (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Add color to a black and white photo. Returns a project ID; follow with Get Completed Image Project.”

Starts colorizing an old photo and returns its project ID right away, the file itself staying on Magic Hour's side.

When to use it
a long queue of archive pictures you collect in a second pass.
Watch out
add Get Completed Image Project to retrieve the colorized photo.
43

Photo Colorizer

Action

In Zapier“Add color to a black and white photo. Waits and returns the finished file, so no follow-up step is needed.”

Adds color to a black and white photo and waits for the colorized file. It needs only the Image File Path.

When to use it
archive scans uploaded by your team should come back in color.
Watch out
scans stored privately have to go through Generate Asset Upload URL first.
44

Text-To-Video (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Generate a video from a text prompt. Returns a project ID; add a Delay, then Get Completed Video Project.”

Generates a video from a written prompt. Video Prompt (1 to 2000 characters) and Length In Seconds (1 to 60) are required.

When to use it
each new product line in a sheet should get a short teaser clip.
Watch out
Generate Audio is not supported by every model, and the clip arrives only through Get Completed Video Project.
45

Video-To-Video (Start Only)

Action

In Zapier“Restyle an existing video with a new art style. Returns a project ID; add a Delay, then Get Completed Video Project.”

Restyles an existing video with a new art style. Video Source, Start Time, End Time and Art Style are required.

When to use it
raw footage should come out in a consistent look for a series.
Watch out
Start and End Time are in seconds of the source, so only that slice gets restyled.
Searches

Magic Hour searches

4 search steps look for data that already exists in Magic Hour, so a later step can use it.

Here a search step does not look for a record: it checks where a render stands. Searches sit at the bottom of the Action event list, under SEARCH. Three settings decide what happens when the answer is not a single clean match.

1

Get Audio Project

Search

In Zapier“Look up the status and download URLs for audio projects. To get the audio itself as a file, use Get Completed Audio Project.”

Looks up the status and download links of an audio project from its Audio Project ID, which is required.

When to use it
a filter should only let the Zap continue once the voice track is done.
Watch out
it returns links, not the sound; for the file itself, use Get Completed Audio Project.
2

Get Face Detection

Search

In Zapier“Fetch the status and detected face assets for a Magic Hour face detection task.”

Reads the status of a face detection task and the faces it found. Face Detection Task ID is required.

When to use it
between Run Face Detection and a face swap, to pick the face to replace.
Watch out
the task ID comes from Run Face Detection, so that step must sit earlier in the Zap.
3

Get Image Project

Search

In Zapier“Look up the status and download URLs for an image project. To get the image itself as a file, use Get Completed Image Project.”

Checks an image project's status and its download links, from the required Image Project ID.

When to use it
you only need a link to share, not the file.
Watch out
for the picture as a file, Get Completed Image Project is the right step.
4

Get Video Project

Search

In Zapier“Look up the status and download URLs for video projects. To get the video itself as a file, use Get Completed Video Project.”

Returns where a video project stands and its download links. Video Project ID is required.

When to use it
you want to know whether a render is finished before going on.
Watch out
to pass the video on as a file, use Get Completed Video Project instead.

The three settings every search exposes

  1. Successful if no search results are found?
Left on its default, an empty result stops the Zap and skips the steps that needed it. Switched on, the Zap carries on with nothing.
  2. Create X if it doesn't exist yet?
This box turns a search into a find-or-create. None of the Magic Hour searches offers it.
  3. If multiple search results are found?
Keep the first match (the default), stop the Zap, or pass every match on at once.
When it breaks

When a Magic Hour Zap breaks

Zapier links no help article to Magic Hour and documents no app-specific limit. Most failures come from the render that is not finished yet and from file paths.

On a polling trigger, Zapier remembers what it has already seen, so the same item never starts two renders through one Zap. The six cases below are what goes wrong instead. For broader fixes, see the Zapier troubleshooting page.

  • An ID instead of a file

Every (Start Only) tool returns a project ID. Without a Get Completed step after it, the Zap ends with no image, video or audio.
  • The project is still rendering

If the Get Completed step runs too early, the render is not done. The step descriptions advise adding a Delay by Zapier step just before it.
  • A file Magic Hour cannot reach

File fields want a direct file URL or a path from Generate Asset Upload URL. A private link in between gives Magic Hour nothing to read.
  • The wrong face gets swapped

Original Face expects the frame-index format, such as 0-0.png. Run Face Detection, then read the list with Get Face Detection before swapping.
  • Past items never arrive

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Older files or answers in the starting app stay out; that backlog is a separate job.
  • A bulk import gets held back

If the app that starts the Zap suddenly returns a huge batch after an import or migration, Zapier's flood protection may hold it back.

FAQ

Magic Hour Zapier integration: FAQ

01Is the Magic Hour Zapier integration free?
Yes, on the Zapier side, within the free plan's limits. Magic Hour is not a premium app, so it works without a paid Zapier plan. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but only two steps per Zap. Since every video tool is Start Only and needs a second step to fetch the file, video flows end up on a paid plan. On the Magic Hour side, Body Swap also spends credits, set by its Resolution.
02How many tasks does a Magic Hour Zap use?
One task for each Magic Hour action that succeeds, and nothing for the trigger. A waiting tool such as AI Image Generator costs one task per run. A Start Only tool followed by Get Completed Image Project costs two, and storing the file in another app adds a third. A failed action is not counted. Prefer the waiting versions when they exist if you want to keep the task count low.
03Does Magic Hour work in real time with Zapier?
Speed depends on two things. First, the app that starts the Zap, because Magic Hour has no trigger: if its trigger is a polling one, Zapier checks it every 15 minutes on the free plan, every 2 minutes on Professional and every minute on Team and Enterprise. Second, the render itself: Start Only tools return at once, but the file is ready only later, which is why a Delay step is advised.
04What does connecting Magic Hour to Zapier take?
A Magic Hour account and a Zapier account; no paid plan is required. From the Apps page, click + Add connection, pick Magic Hour, sign in in the tab that opens and grant access. If the Zap should use files or projects you do not own, your account needs rights on them. Also plan how your files will reach Magic Hour: a direct file URL or Generate Asset Upload URL. The same connection then serves every Magic Hour step you add.
05What is the difference between a tool and its Start Only version?
The plain version waits for Magic Hour to finish and returns the file, so no follow-up step is needed. The Start Only version returns a project ID straight away and leaves the result on Magic Hour's side. You then need Get Completed Image Project, Video Project or Audio Project to collect it, often after a Delay by Zapier step. All video tools exist only in the Start Only form. Pick the plain version whenever one exists.
06What if the Magic Hour operation you need is missing?
Then Zapier cannot run it with this app today. The integration offers 45 actions and 4 searches around images, video and audio, but no trigger: a finished render cannot start a Zap on its own. You can often combine the existing steps, for example Run Face Detection, then Get Face Detection, then Face Swap Photo. Anything else has to happen in Magic Hour itself or on another automation platform. Check the action list in the editor before planning around a missing step.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Magic Hour?
It depends on your criteria, not on a ranking. On Zapier, Magic Hour runs on the free plan with 45 actions, but its Start Only pattern quickly leads to multi-step Zaps billed per successful action. If your flows chain many renders, compare how each platform handles waiting, retries and the cost of each step for this app. Also weigh your monthly volume and who will maintain the flows. No single criterion settles it for everyone.
