Overview

What the Mailmodo Zapier integration does for you

The Mailmodo Zapier integration connects Mailmodo, the email marketing tool, to your other apps through Zapier. A Zap (the automation you build on Zapier) starts on an event in one app and then acts in another, every time that event happens again, so answers and contacts move without exports.

Three results people build first. Answers collected where your team reads them: each Template Submission, a form filled in one of your Mailmodo templates, becomes a row in a spreadsheet. Contacts that arrive on their own: a signup in another tool runs Create a Contact and drops the person on the list you name. Emails that follow an event elsewhere: an action in another app calls Trigger Journey or Trigger Campaign for that one address, and Mailmodo does the sending.

Now the limits. Mailmodo has one trigger only, the form submission: opens, clicks or unsubscribes start nothing through Zapier. There is no search, so a Zap cannot look up a contact first, and there is no step to update or delete one. A Zap never reaches back either: submissions made before you switch it on stay where they are.

The same app also exists on Make: see our Mailmodo Make integration, and Make vs Zapier if you are weighing the two tools.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Seven words carry this page. Each is explained here once, then used as is.

Zap
The automation you build: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it and does nothing before.
Action
What the Zap does once started: the step that creates a contact or sends something for you in an app.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completed successfully, and your plan counts those.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app itself, the moment it happens.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap continue only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Connection
Your Mailmodo account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Mailmodo step in every Zap you build.
Cost

What Mailmodo costs you in Zapier tasks

Mailmodo is not a premium app, so it works from the free plan. Zapier bills in tasks, and only successful actions count.

  • Free plan100 tasks per month, unlimited Zaps
  • Free plan limitTwo steps: one trigger, one action
  • Premium appNo, Mailmodo runs on the free plan
  • Mailmodo trigger1 instant, 0 polling

The trigger never costs a task, and an action that fails is not counted. Every successful action counts on its own: three actions in one Zap use three times what a single one uses. The free plan stops at two steps, one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action makes a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below is for polling triggers: it does not apply to Template Submission, which is instant. It can apply to another app's trigger placed before a Mailmodo action.

Connect

Connect Mailmodo to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. You need a Mailmodo account first, plus access to anything in it you do not own yourself but want a Zap to use.

  2. 02

    Pick Mailmodo

Type Mailmodo in the search box of the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the Mailmodo side, where you sign in to your account.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Log in to Mailmodo in that tab and let Zapier use the account. The connection then appears on the Apps page, and every later Zap reuses it without asking again.

First Zap

Your first Mailmodo Zap

GoalEach form filled inside one of your Mailmodo emails adds a row to a spreadsheet, so the answers sit next to your other data without any export.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Start a new Zap, choose Mailmodo as the app that starts it and pick Template Submission. Fill Name your zap, then Select Template and Select Form.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent submissions of that form, so you map the next step on real answers, not a blank sample.

  3. 03

    Add the spreadsheet action

Add the action of your spreadsheet app, choose the sheet, then drag each answer from the Mailmodo form into the column where it belongs.

  4. 04

    Test the row

Run the action test once and open the sheet. If the new row shows each answer in the right column, the mapping is done and nothing else needs changing.

  5. 05

    Publish

Click Publish to switch the Zap on. From then on every submission writes its own row, and only that row counts as a task.

Triggers

Mailmodo trigger

1 event starts a Zap when something happens in Mailmodo, and one of them is instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

Template Submission

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a submission occurs in your template.”

Starts your Zap each time a recipient fills and sends a form placed in one of your Mailmodo templates. The answers travel to the steps that follow, ready to be stored, shared or used to create a record elsewhere.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
your emails collect answers, and those answers are needed in a tool your team already uses.
Watch out
one Zap watches one form of one template, chosen in Select Template and Select Form; another form needs another Zap.
Actions

Mailmodo actions

Mailmodo gives you 3 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create a Contact

Action

In Zapier“Create a contact in your mailmodo account”

Adds a person to your Mailmodo account, on the recipient list you name, from whatever the trigger app sent. Nobody copies the address by hand.

When to use it
people sign up in another tool and should be reachable from Mailmodo too.
Watch out
both the recipient list name and the email are required.
2

Trigger Journey

Action

In Zapier“Trigger a journey available in your account”

Starts one of the journeys already set up in your Mailmodo account for a single email address. The journey then runs in Mailmodo exactly as you designed it.

When to use it
an event in another app should start a sequence of emails for that person.
Watch out
Email Id and the recipient list are required, and the journey must exist in Mailmodo before you build the Zap.
3

Trigger Campaign

Action

In Zapier“Send your campaigns with trigger from various sources”

Sends one of your Mailmodo campaigns to the address the Zap passes in, so a campaign can go out from a source outside Mailmodo.

When to use it
a single email, rather than a sequence, should follow an event in another tool.
Watch out
Email and Append to Mailmodo's List are both required, so decide which list the person joins before testing.
When it breaks

When the Mailmodo Zap breaks

Zapier links no help article to Mailmodo and no app-specific limit is documented. The traps below come from the required fields and from the rules every Zap follows.

Most surprises come from what the Zap cannot see, or from a Zap that feeds itself. If a Zap still misbehaves, open our Zapier troubleshooting page next.

  • Template or form not ready

Select Template and Select Form are both required. If the template or its form does not exist in your Mailmodo account yet, the trigger has nothing to watch.
  • Older submissions are left out

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Forms filled before never come through; moving those answers is a separate job.
  • A Zap that restarts itself

Writing where the trigger watches starts the Zap again. A Zap that feeds its own trigger runs again and again and burns through tasks.
  • A sudden flood held back

When a trigger receives a huge batch at once, after an import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those runs back instead of firing them all.

FAQ

Mailmodo Zapier integration FAQ

01Is the Mailmodo Zapier integration free?
Yes, it works on the free Zapier plan, since Mailmodo is not a premium app. The free plan gives 100 tasks per month and unlimited Zaps, each limited to two steps: one trigger and one action. Template Submission followed by one spreadsheet row fits inside that. Add a filter or a second action, for example creating a contact and then starting a journey, and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan.
02How many tasks does a Mailmodo Zap use?
One task per action that succeeds, and nothing for the trigger. A Zap that writes each Template Submission into a sheet uses one task per submission. A Zap that runs Create a Contact and then Trigger Journey for the same person uses two. A failed action is not counted. A few apps and actions take more than one task, so keep your monthly allowance in mind whenever you add a step.
03Is Mailmodo on Zapier real time?
Yes for its trigger. Template Submission is instant: Mailmodo tells Zapier the moment a form is sent, and the Zap starts right away whatever your plan. The plan intervals, such as 15 minutes on Free, only concern polling triggers. They can still matter when a Mailmodo action sits behind another app's polling trigger. In the editor, an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt, which tells you which case you are in.
04What do you need to connect Mailmodo to Zapier?
A Mailmodo account you can sign in to, and access to anything in it you do not own but want the Zap to use. In Zapier, open Apps, click + Add connection, search for Mailmodo, click Add connection, then sign in to Mailmodo in the tab that opens and grant access. The connection is saved once and reused by every Mailmodo step you add afterwards. There is nothing to repeat for the next Zap.
05What does Template Submission need before it works?
Three required settings: a name in Name your zap, a template from your account in Select Template, and a form inside that template in Select Form. Zapier only lets you pick what already exists in your Mailmodo account, so build the template and its form there first. Once the trigger is set, run the test: it brings back the three most recent submissions of that form, so send one yourself if nobody has filled it in yet.
06What if the Mailmodo operation isn't in the list?
The editor offers one trigger and three actions, with no search. Nothing updates or deletes a contact, and opens, clicks or unsubscribes cannot start a Zap through this connector. Sometimes a combination covers the need, for example Create a Contact followed by Trigger Journey on a paid plan. If nothing fits, the honest answer is that Zapier cannot do it with Mailmodo today, and another route needs studying before you build.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Mailmodo?
It depends on three criteria, not on a winner. First, the ready connector: Zapier offers Mailmodo with the four operations of this page, and Mailmodo also exists on Make, so compare the operations each side offers. Second, billing: Zapier counts one task per successful action, which is easy to forecast on simple Zaps. Third, the number of steps your flows need, since the free Zapier plan stops at two. Weigh those three against your own flows before you pick.
