Overview

What the Mailthentic Zapier integration is for

Mailthentic is an email verification tool: it weeds out addresses that are invalid, disposable or risky, so your campaigns reach real inboxes. On Zapier it works one address at a time, through a single action that Zapier still labels beta, and it always runs after another app has handed it a new address.

A warning before a risky address is used. A new subscriber arrives in your email marketing tool, Verify Email checks the address, and when the answer is risky a filter lets the Zap post a message in your team chat for someone to look at it.

Cleaner sign-ups from your forms. Each form response goes through the check first, so the addresses marked invalid never make it into the list you send to.

A verdict kept with the contact. Written back into a spreadsheet, the valid, invalid or risky answer tells whoever works the list which rows to trust.

What it will not do: Mailthentic has no trigger on Zapier, so it cannot start a Zap, and there is no search step. The bulk cleaning Mailthentic is known for does not happen here either: each run verifies one address, and addresses stored before the Zap was switched on are never sent through it. If you are still comparing tools, read Make vs Zapier or the Zapier review.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary, in a few lines

Seven terms carry the page. Here they are once, then used as is.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one starting event, then one or more steps that run every time it happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Mailthentic has none, so the trigger always belongs to another app.
Action
What the Zap does once started: the step that checks, writes or sends something for you. Verify Email is one.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Every verification that goes through is one task.
Polling or instant
Zapier checks a polling trigger on a timer, while an instant one is reported by its app straight away. The starting app decides which.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets your condition, such as the verdict, and stops it otherwise.
Connection
Your Mailthentic account linked to Zapier once, then offered again in every Mailthentic step.
Cost

What a Mailthentic Zap really costs

The trigger of the starting app is free. Every address Mailthentic verifies successfully costs one task.

  • Starting triggerFree, never a task
  • Each successful verification1 task
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Premium appNo, available on the free plan

A Zap that takes a new subscriber and verifies the address uses one task per run, and a verification that fails is not counted. Mailthentic is not a premium app, so that two-step Zap runs on the free plan. A filter on the verdict, or a second action that posts or stores it, turns the Zap into a multi-step one, and that needs a paid plan. Mailthentic has no trigger: the grid below only matters for the starting app, and only when its trigger is a polling one.

Connect

Connect Mailthentic to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

Open Apps and start the connection

In your Zapier account, go to the Apps page and click + Add connection. In the dialog that opens, type Mailthentic in the search box and pick it from the results.

  2. 02

    Sign in to Mailthentic

Click Add connection. Mailthentic opens in a new tab: sign in with the account your verifications should run on. That Mailthentic account has to exist before you reach this step.

  3. 03

    Grant access

Allow Zapier into the account. The connection then appears in every Mailthentic step. If the Zap touches lists or sheets someone else owns, check that you have read or write rights on them.

First Zap

Your first Zap: flag risky new subscribers to the team

GoalEach new subscriber in your email marketing tool is verified by Mailthentic, and when the verdict meets your condition, your team chat gets a message.

  1. 01

Create the Zap on your email tool

In the editor, pick your email marketing tool and its new-subscriber event as the trigger. Mailthentic cannot start a Zap, so it comes next, as an action.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent subscribers of the connected account; choose one with an address, so the later steps work on a real case.

  3. 03

    Add Verify Email

Add Mailthentic, choose Verify Email, select your connection and map the subscriber's address into the Email field. Test the step and read the verdict.

  4. 04

    Filter on the verdict

Click the plus icon, add Filter and set the field to look at (the verdict), the rule and the value. Pick the rule type that matches what the test returned: a text rule only works on text.

  5. 05

    Alert, test, publish

Add your team chat and its send-a-message action, test every step, then click Publish. With a filter and two actions, this Zap needs a paid plan.

Actions

The Mailthentic action

Mailthentic gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Verify Email

Action

In Zapier“Verifies an email address and returns whether it is valid, invalid, or risky.”

Checks one address handed over by an earlier step and comes back with a verdict: valid, invalid or risky. The following steps can branch on that answer through a filter or simply store it.

When to use it
as soon as a new address shows up in a form, a sheet or your email tool, before anything is sent to it.
Watch out
the Email field is mandatory, and Zapier still marks this integration as beta.
When it breaks

When a Mailthentic Zap breaks

Zapier ties no help article to Mailthentic, so the cases below are the limits every Zap shares, seen from a verification step.

Because Mailthentic always follows another app's trigger, most of these traps start with that app. For anything else that goes wrong, Zapier troubleshooting takes over.

  • Your existing list is not verified

A Zap reacts only to what happens after it is switched on. Addresses already in your list never reach Verify Email; cleaning them is a separate job.
  • Writing the verdict where the trigger looks

Adding the verdict as a new row in the sheet that starts the Zap makes every row start another run, and the task count drops fast.
  • An import held back

If the starting app suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those runs back.
  • No second verification

On a polling trigger, Zapier remembers what it has already seen, so the same subscriber is not sent to Mailthentic twice.

FAQ

Mailthentic and Zapier: frequent questions

01Is the Mailthentic Zapier integration free?
Yes, it runs on Zapier's free plan. Mailthentic is not a premium app, so Zapier does not keep it for paid plans; Zapier does mark it as beta. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but every Zap stops at two steps: one trigger and one action. A new form response followed by Verify Email fits. A filter on the verdict, or a second action to alert the team, makes the Zap multi-step, which needs a paid plan.
02How many tasks does a Mailthentic verification use?
One task for each verification that goes through. The trigger of the starting app costs nothing, however often Zapier looks at it. A Zap that verifies an address and then posts a message uses two tasks per run, since each successful action counts separately. A verification that fails is not counted against your plan. A few apps bill more than one task per action; nothing on the Mailthentic app page says it is one of them.
03Does Mailthentic on Zapier work in real time?
It depends on the app that starts the Zap, because Mailthentic has no trigger of its own. If that app has an instant trigger, it tells Zapier as soon as a new address appears and the verification follows straight away, on any plan. If its trigger is a polling one, Zapier checks at your plan's interval: every 15 minutes on Free, every 2 on Professional, every minute on Team and Enterprise. Look at how the starting app's trigger fires.
04What does it take to connect Mailthentic to Zapier?
A Mailthentic account that already exists and a Zapier account. Open the Apps page, click + Add connection, search for Mailthentic, confirm, sign in in the tab that opens and grant Zapier access. You also need another app to start the Zap, since Mailthentic cannot. If the Zap touches lists or sheets owned by someone else, your account needs read or write rights on them before the first run of the Zap.
05Why does Verify Email stop the Zap before any verdict?
Usually because the Email field arrived empty. That field is mandatory: when the starting app sends a record with no address, or the field is mapped to the wrong value, the action cannot run and the rest of the Zap stops there. Test the trigger on a real record that holds an address, map that exact value, and read the verdict of the test before publishing. A failed verification is not counted as a task.
06What if the Mailthentic operation you need is not there?
Then this integration cannot do it. On Zapier, Mailthentic offers one action, Verify Email, with no trigger and no search step. The bulk verification of a whole list, which Mailthentic does on its own platform, is not available from the editor. The workaround is to let the app that holds new addresses start the Zap and send each one to Verify Email as it arrives. If that does not cover the need, compare what other automation tools offer for Mailthentic.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Mailthentic?
Decide on criteria rather than on a winner. Coverage: Zapier gives Mailthentic one action, still in beta, and no trigger, so check what the other tool exposes for your case. Shape: on Zapier, filtering on the verdict or storing it after the check makes the Zap multi-step, which means a paid plan. Volume: each successful verification is a task, so estimate how many new addresses arrive each month. Weigh those three points against your own setup.
